Just want 4.1 for Galaxy note will be there or no chances?
I hope that Samsung will surprise us with JB firmware, but i dont think they will, as we could see in the past, that they dont care too much about "older" or "outdated" devices. And there is a rumour that SGN2 might be coming up quite soon, so this info is givimg me even less hope.

Cyanogenmod developers are working on a CM10(JellyBean) release but of course this is pure aosp and has nothing to do with samsung and it's user interface.
At least cm team will give us the taste of cm10 maybe Samsung wil also give jb to us

"officially"
I can't see Samsung, in a business sense, releasing JB for the Note, until
AFTER the sales from the Note2 level off. Perhaps a few months after the
"new" wears off, they might "offically" release it, but, you can bet it will
be here on XDA, LONG before Samsung releases it, if at all, for the note1.
Ignorance is the path to destruction .Reported.
I demand JB! But, in all seriousness, I really do want Jelly Bean plus since ICS has been riddled with brick bug Samsung owes us!

Hi to all devs involved in this really interesting project.
I'm CM user. When I just discovered the ROM I was very exited as it gave me more or less the same feeling than I had when I discovered Linux. Nevertheless, the recent turn of events and decisions made in Cyanogenmod (now Inc) are less than thrilling in terms of freedom, innovation possibilities and ultimately, users involvement.
Thus, I'm really interested on OMNI as a project. Despite the fact that I have no clue on android development (programming, design, etc.) I would like to see support for the phone I'm currently using, in order to collaborate with testing, or bug reporting, or anything that can be provided by a end user type of user like myself.
Congrats and good luck with the project!

woo.. sounds good..
and is this project was going on now?? :confuse:
send my siggy phone to XDA

This is like a no brainer..
The most bought phone of the year, with newest android version for the GE..
This should be the premier device to get the OmniROM's love.
People are working on various devices in the jf family, but being a Samsung it's a pain in the ass.
Right now it, along with nearly any other device that uses blobs for the sensor HAL, are having serious issues with sensors.

because Samsung is very reluctant in offering sources. Thus making the work 1000x harder or even impossible.

In addition, even on devices that are using chipsets that are well documented, Samsung always hacks things up. Standards mean nothing to them.
For example, the PROPER way to implement a light sensor is to have the HAL report the maximum value that the sensor can ever report. On the GS2 this was something like 16000 lux.
The way Samsung implemented it?
HAL reports 2000 lux maximum, happily reports values above 2000 lux, framework apparently is hacked to ignore whatever the HAL says.
With their GPS HALs, they added an extra field to the satellite status struct that broke all satellite status reporting until I spent 4-5 evenings reverse engineering it. On every device I've seen that field is always zero - it does nothing, has no way of being reported to apps or the frameworks, but breaks anyone who tries to talk to the GPS HAL using the "standard" interface.
And yes - Qualcomm deviates from the "standard" interface here too - but they document their changes to the header file on CodeAurora.
I'm using the great OmniROM since some hours on my 9505 LTE. It's working very good so far. Much better then CM 11.
Unfortunately the actual nightly from yesterday can't be downloaded - skips when reaching 20,5 kB

Now that they've released the open source files for KitKat ( http://opensource.samsung.com/reception/receptionSub.do?method=search&searchValue=I9505G_NA_KK ) can we have a proper super-duper OmniROM rom for jfltexx ?

Hello I'm finding the OmniROM great on my i9505 intl LTE.. Everything is working beautifully.. Except the buggy camera and the OTA nightlie updates which I manually still have to flash (no big deal).. Love the rom.. Keep up the great work:good:

You probably need to upgrade TWRP
Hi All,
Has our old clunky chunky device, known affectionately to us as... N7000 or more friendlier by Galaxy Note.
As mentioned previously, support for our aging device seems to be drying up to an almost non-existent drip, as previously mentioned here... http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note/help/calling-developers-make-t2924117/post56401521#post56401521
Thankfully, we still have the wonderful Bauner, and (forgotten the guys name... but will look it up, for Resurrection Remix) but other than that, it seems all other developers, and all other groups who made roms for our device, have given up on us now... Not seen any new updated KitKats, or Lollipops for a long long time...
Does this mean the end to our device, or (despite the amazing work, ONE GUY has done so far) that if CyanogenMod or Omni officially support us again, some where far far down the road (in Narnia) that our devices, will once again gain the attention and love they so need....
Sure, our devices are old now compared to other kit... But wasnt this the joy of Android, that its so open and adaptable... Heck, I have a old ZTE Blade (2009) and that still gets some KitKat love now and again...
I know it all depends on whether a maintainer still owns the device, and of course the time it takes... But is this normal for a new Android OS, and that to get official support takes time... Or have we been dropped off, left alone, tossed to the corner of the road, to make way for new devices??
Many thanks, Lister
My device runs nice with always the latest cm11 nightlies. Don't know where your problem is? Let's face it... The n7000 is one really old phone! Never had a phone running this long before. Always got a new one after 2 years. I'm absolutely satisfied with cm11. New OS are for new phones... ?

Hello All!
Well like everyone, I want a nice phone, but of course being the Geek that I am, I love to hack and tinker on phones.
I've been really researching and reading around online, still in search of that Modders Dream phone, and will all the choices out there, it's just not easy figuring out, at least I'm still looking. Problem is, all the latest cool phones that have recently come out in 2018, like anything, development will take time.
So I'm trying to figure out which phone(s) might be a good choice to go with. As some may of read, OnePlus donated some 6 phones for free to XDA developers, that certainly made that phone look promising for the future, but the cost of the 6 is a little over my budget.
So, with all this said, I currently have a Mi A1, and the development seems like it's been really good on that phone, which makes me think that Xiaomi phones seem to be popular with development, at least I hope the Mi 8 will have just as much development going on as the Mi A1, or better.
What does the future hold for this phone, any thoughts on this?
Hmm
Thanks

I'm patient, that's not the problem, I guess it's to early to tell how the development will be. I assumed if the Mi A1 was as good as it is, then this should be better, but that's a cheaper phone, easier for people to get, therefore more development, more expensive phone, less people can afford, less development...
hmm

Honestly, I think the best "tinker" phone right now is the Oneplus 5t. Solid hardware and a very big selection of roms and mods. Xiaomi phones tends to be good also, but you need to wait a year or two before it really picks up.
I have an Mi A1 and it's great, so it made me think to get another Xiaomi, but then I really had my eyes on the OnePlus....
To many bloody choices... LOL

there was an instant of Mi8SE kernel source was released for 2 months+, but there wasn't any development for custom ROM so far.
Of coz it might really means the establishment for this phone wasn't wide enough and the population wasn't there, due to the price. These contributed to late or lack of ROM development.
It also could due to there are many new development in the android world such as Android Treble and Android Pie which is more fun and trendy for the moment.
So, the wait will really had to be a bit longer then usual.
But what is the usual?
That will be the primary question now.

Many ROMS, I think you need to go have another look again, the phone was only released 3 months ago.
@ZhenMing not the SE, that's a SD710, I'm talking the 8 SD845.

Yes. I'm aware we are talking about Mi 8 which running on SD 845.
What I referencing is Mi8SE had not had any development even they had the kernel source released 2 months before.
However, I wish I'm wrong on this and had custom ROM development as soon as the kernel source released.
Time will tell...

Well I'm still thinking, actually been a lot of thinking and reading over phones, still trying to figure out the next one.
Because of the crazy sales on the Essential PH-1 I jumped at it and bought a few. It's not a bad phone and for the latest sales at $249 & $224, well it's pretty easy to want one...

I wanted one essential phone for a long time, but I need dual sim and don't really want to bother with bluetooth adapters so skipped that one. Have a OP6 and MI8 now. Like the MI8 more but a bit bummed I can't get custom recovery to work flashed so have to fastboot the recovery each time there is an update.
We have to wait for the kernel source from the Mi8 to get the best experience out of custom roms.
We got treble, but not everything is working well with Treble roms.
Hope Xiaomi will release the source shortly
