Hello I am from the UK, I got the M8 at a great deal and it came today. However there is a problem with the HTC charger not being suitable for UK plugs, i.e they dont fit. However I got given an adapter for it unbranded, as a white plug with a USB slot for the HTC USB cable.
Now my worry is, from my knowledge you should only use chargers of the same brand as other chargers can do damage over time. Using the white plug given, it is not HTC branded, although the cable is still from HTC. But is this bad for my phone? That am not using a HTC branded charger? I want to charge it before it is powered on but I also don't want to use a dodgy charger.
Hard to say. If its some off-brand, cheap charger, it can have some defect that can conceivably damage the phone.
But if its decent quality, I interchange my MicroUSB chargers all the time (Samsung, HTC, etc.). Maybe technically not the best thing to do. But I haven't noticed any ill effects; and I'm willing to accept the consequences on the off chance something happens.
Worth buying the original IMHO.

Mine was shipped from Hong Kong so came with an English plug but I currently live in Australia. It shipped with a UK to AUS adaptor and this has been working fine. I think that's the cheaper option then buying a whole new charger.

I only say this because I did this.. i got my HTC ONE M8 and thought the plug didnt fit but the earth prong expanded (i havent had a new phone since htc one x .. apparently this is the new design on phones as my friend with S5 laughed at me when i said the plug confused me for a while lol)
well some cheap non brand chargers can harm your device battery. there are a lot of complains like this. so if you even want to change your charger i recommend buying the original HTC charger or same quality charger of other brands.

I bought a "HTC" branded car charger from Ebay last week.
I got it in the mail today and it seems to be to be built too cheep to be actual HTC brand.
Is there a way to tell what is actual HTC and what is a second hand knock off?
Im not to sure I want to use this charger on my phone for fear it will get damaged.
Was it shipped from China/HongKong? => it is fake
Was it bought on eBay => it is fake
To be honest, I have never seen a HTC HD2 car charger made by HTC(perhaps it is sold with the car holder?). I need such thing but to be honest, I am also a little bit scared about damaging my phone.
Take some images so we can all take a look.
The HTC version of the car charger has the part that lugs in to the cigarette lighter and then a SEPARATE usb wire that connects to it which then connects to the phone, the wire is not permanently attached to the plug. If you bought one of those adapters that say "HTC" on it and glows (for under $10), you bought a fake.
I've got this item:
pearl.fr/automobile/accessoires-12v/station-de-recharge-usb-allume-cigare_PX1093.html add www before because of the silly antispam regulation
with the usb wire it's work well and I can charge 4 device in the same time (hd2/mp3/buetooh car hand free/gps
great and cheap
anyway 5 Volt is 5 volt and it's working !
Thanks for the replies...
yeah its from Ebay and it has the glowing HTC logo on it. wich = fake.
Oh well. glad I didnt spend a lot on it
guess it will be going into the trash with the packaging it came in. I am NOT going to risk my phone for over this piece of garbage.
thanks for the heads up on the "real" HTC car charger. Will search for one of them instead.

Huh? The official one has a lit HTC logo...
I have the official car mount and it comes with the car charger + cable. It's flat on the USB end and has a backlit HTC above the USB port.
Also, you can buy them separately.
does it work? if so, whats the big deal?
Like someone has asked, get some pictures up so we can inspect it
Charger
Seriously. I bought a Micro USB cable from the store for like 5.99. Been using the same cigarette USB universal charger for everything from GPS, to Tilt 2, to PSP, to bluetooth headsets using the same adaptor. Never had a single problem for about 3-4 years...
HTC=Taiwan
Taiwan=China (depending on who you want to ask)
Hong Kong =China
Okay, like a lot of people I have been watching the induction chargers with a keen eye, waiting for a reputable company to deliver a worthwhile solution.
Then I saw that the Duracell MyGrid was on sale on Amazon(.co.uk) for £19.99, with connectors costing £15.99. Brilliant! Right?
There is not a HTC Leo specific connector, but you can purchase a Micro-USB connector which will allow you to charge your HD2 via the MyGrid powermat. At this point, I was reaching for my wallet!
Before purchasing, however, I chose to see if anyone had reviewed the product. Im thankful I did...
It turns out the connector you attach to your device is permanently attached (glued I expect). This means that if you need to replace your phone, you need to buy a new connector. It also means your phone probably won't fit into car handsfree kits anymore.
Now for the killer. It is possible to disconnect the connector from the Micro-USB port, but this is by no means easy and leaves the connector pins vulnerable. This means your Micro-USB port is always in use. Want to plug your phone in on a train? Use a car kit? Use a conventional charger? SYNC/UPDATE FIRMWARE by plugging into a PC? Tough poopie!
In summary: Does an induction charger for the HTC HD2 exist? Yes. But iff you want to do anything with your phoen other than charge it, don't buy one.

looking on the uk part of the site they dont show the hd2 battery cover or a lot of the other things that are on the us site.
anybody got one of these powermats, how long would it take to charge the standard hd2 battery from flat?
i bought one as my usb connector was fried and out of warranty. havent used it for a full charge yet but it seems pretty quick

So, you would say this charger makes no sense? Sorry, but there's no induction charging which works like a WiFi and you can move where you want while charging.
Having looked at a number of UK websites, only one said a USB cable came with the charger. I had been planning on buying an OEM 2 amp charger. Then I saw Clove were saying it came with a spare USB cable so the price of £24.99 didn't seem so bad any more. Got it on Friday and, yes, it did have a USB cable in the pack.
Tried it in my car runing Co-Pilot sat nav and my battery indicator showed that the charge was still going up so I am very pleasedwith it.
Only slightly disappointing thing is that the charger has only one output whereas some of the OEM ones have two, one 2 amp and one 1 amp. However, I tried it with my charger splitter and it still showed the charge was going up.
most cheap usb car charges have a screwable top; just take out the glass fuse and replace it with a 2amp/2000mA fuse which you can get at autozone, radio shack, home depot....pretty much anywhere
Really? if i just change the glass fuse i can use any usb car charge?
Is not dangerous for the electric impiant of the car?
No You can't. It is not the fuse that decides how much current the charger can give.
The fuse just protects the charger from blowing if something fails.
The regulator used in the charger sets the charging current.
true you can buy a regulator at radio shack. i've seen the 7805 for about a buck 50.
Ok, tnx guy!
Go to Best Buy or your local Apple store and pickup the Incase Ipad car charger. I've tested and works just fine with the Tab.

There are generic 2A USB cigarette lighter / car chargers on eBay for a third of the price. Worth trying too
Would you mind posting a pic of the charger?
I just bought Samsungs Car Adapter kit (ECA-P10CBECSTD) from local store, 27.90€.
It comes with cigarette lighter 12/24V usb adapter, 2 Amps 5V output, and a proprietary Samsung Tab usb cable.
A little pricey, ok, but now I have a second usb cable and a car adapter with enough output amps without fuss.

Here's the one from Clove.
Amazon UK are selling the Samsung car charger for £20.83. Pretty good deal with free delivery.
[edit]
Or there's this one also on Amazon for 99p (+£4.50 delivery!) which apparently can charge the Tab. You still need to add in the cost of the proprietary Samsung USB cable though to match the official car charger features, so not much of a bargain really...

That's all fine and dandy Paul but will an individual be bothered contacting officials just for the sake of a few pounds.
No, what I'm saying is why is it not listed..... and if anyone is considering purchasing one I would recommend they save themselves any issues by first contacting the seller to ascertain if the cable is indeed part of the deal.
If you check the item model number it's listed as a charger, nothing further.

OK well I've just ordered one so we'll soon see . The picture on Amazon looks almost identical to the one on Clove. Here's hoping they're the same otherwise I've bought the world's most expensive charger .
Guys, just so you know, you can get very cheap 2A chargers on ebay. The cable problem is still impossible to solve, but I'm sure Hong Kong people are working on it, so it might be best to wait a month and order a cheap replacement cable, rather then paying ridiculous amount of money for Samsung's original cable.
I ordered one of these a couple weeks ago:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...b43hTuXib7JjWUKJhg%3D&viewitem=#ht_1776wt_959
Came in today, and I swear the sync cable it came with is identical to the one my Tab came with, right down to the Samsung logo.
Car charger itself is a 5.0v/2000mA, looks well built, fused, and comes in a very nice retail package.
Considering the cable alone is $29 from my carrier, it's a hell of a deal. I basically bought a cable for $23 and got a car charger for free.
Hey croak that cellet charger doesnt work. it has the charging symbol crossed out... I guess you need to do usb2usb soldering mod to use any 5v2A charger. I saw the thread on here...

Paul,
Any luck with this item?
Hi, my original charger just died, so i decided to buy a good charger, and i rembember thinking "Well, belkin is a well known company, it should work". Long story short, i bought it for 30dls, worked but it charged at 300mha. So i wanted to punch everyone at belkin.
Apparently this charger is not compatible with the LG G2 and im ****ed.
I just wanted to share my experience so no one here go and buy it.

Thanks for the heads up. Most aftermarket chargers like Belkin are garbage. You'd think that at $30+ it would be top notch, but they're actually made to be as cheap as possible by mediocre engineers so they end up being exceedingly terrible. Not only do they not measure up to spec but the output voltage is unstable and has a TON of noise. It's obviously always preferable to go with a good oem charger when possible. Unfortunately they're somewhat hard to find separately without actually buying something and if you do find one for sale they're are a lot of fakes out there so it can be risky.
By far best chargers that are easily attainable are the apple usb chargers. After comparing the apple usb chargers(both 5w and 12w) and a bunch of other usb chargers(both oem and aftermarket) I have using an oscilloscope at work, the apple chargers have the cleanest output by a wide margin. Just be sure to buy them from a major retailer. It's not worth risking getting a fake because at that point you might as well use the belkin.
Additionally, the original 2014 moto x charger and kindle 5w and 9w changers are also very good.
While I prefer the 1A/5w chargers to extend the life of the battery, you can also get the 9w-12w ones which will charge faster if that's something you need. Be sure to use a quality cable too.
edit:
This guy did something similar to what I did but actually took the time to document it. It's very informative and shows how much quality can vary between different chargers.

You can probably find the same/similar thing on ebay for under $2. But you have to keep in mind that not all usb chargers are created equal, especially these cheap aftermarket ones. While it may charge your devices, the quality of the power it delvers may or may not be good. Not to mention that it might not be made to even minimal safety standards - for both you and the device. Even though the charger you recommend may very well be fantastic, it is of unknown quality. Given that the vast majority of all aftermarket usb chargers are substandard, it can be reasonably assumed that this one isn't an anomaly.
I recommended the apple charger because it's known to be of very good quality and it's easy to find.
Check out this site:
http://www.righto.com/2014/05/a-look-inside-ipad-chargers-pricey.html
The author compares a genuine ipad charger with a fake one. Assuming that the majority of aftermarket chargers are built to the same standard(or worse) as the fake, it amazes me that anyone would even consider using one let alone pay for it. What is the logic in saving a couple bucks and potentially risking several hundred? I would rather spend $20 once and have piece of mind in knowing that I have the best.
you are right, but i've just gave you a link to the pretty cheap charger that works well with G2 and as i've said - it charges my tablet as well...
i don't just buy random stuff on ebay... i always do a little research before buying anything - especially buyer comments & reviews...
and alzashop also doesn't sell crap...
btw ConnectIT brand does a bunch of IT gadgets, usb chargers are just a drop in the ocean...
Try using Dorimanx kernel and set the Force charge on (1600+ mah) and try the charger again
I had the same issue when I bought an Oem HTC one M9 charger but only charged at 300 mah sometimes
I used dorimanx and now it charges at around 1800+ mah

Okay so I'm in the UK and I'm trying to find a UK plugged rapid wall charger equivalent to the one in the box. Why is this so hard?
I'd have thought that LG/Google would sell the standard wall charger as an accessory somewhere but nope.
The only wall charger I can find which claims to be Nexus 5X rapid charge compatible is: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Electronic...id=1462964507&sr=8-2&keywords=choetech+type+c
At £17 it seemed really pricey but after receiving it, I realise that it doesn't even come with a table.
So then I stump up another £7 to get an Anker Type-C to Type-C cable (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Anker-Powe...1462964577&sr=8-4&keywords=anker+type+c+cable) only to find that it's only USB 2.0 rated so isn't capable of doing the rapid charging.
All I want is a spare UK spec rapid wall charger for my Nexus 5X. Ideally identical to the OEM one but.
Why is this so hard?
This is the official Google one:

That's great, wish I saw that before I already purchased the Choetech one. I really don't know why they are so pricey. £20 for a charger is a lot.
