It seems that Android System uses a really high amount of battery, and I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas, or would know how to find out.
My battery lasts around 5 hours anymore, doing the same thing I used to do when it lasted 17+.
Any help would be super appreciated.

Why are you on JB? What setup are you using? Also, a screen shot from Wakelock detector would be appreciated.
I'm rooted stock 4.3. I just didn't really like the update from it, so I went back to 4.3.
I was fine til about a week ago.

I noticed that on 4.3, yeah, the phone radio was the biggest consumer of battery, butconsidering your usage, perhaps screen usage should be greater. Regardless, you're getting 4SOT/23.5SBY which is far better than I'm getting (2.5/14) on KK. lol
If you think about it, if nothing is waking your device, the phone radio is the only thing using power during sleep. So I guess it makes sense.
How about this? Supposing it has to do with the end of charge mechanic of the cpu, but it's worth a check.
Perhaps the battery is just going bad, after a year?

Any other ways I could see what's causing such a drain on the battery? I fear pretty soon keeping it plugged in won't even give it charge enough to stay on.
Sent from my HTC One using XDA Premium 4 mobile app.
Or maybe something about this may help figure it out? I put it in Airplane Mode while charging and it didn't seem to make a difference in the rate at which it charged.
Could that possibly narrow down the cause?

It's acting so strange.

That google play services drain though... Try installing the Amplify module for Xposed.
I supose reflash soft, then freeze google services in tb, and unfreeze omly when they are needed. Maybe it will help

Well that's a bit extreme. You need Google Services for a lot of things, and that app is central to the android experience.
That's not to mention all the FCs he could get.
I find the phone stutters quite a bit too. Like freezes for a few seconds then carries on with what I'm doing.

tbh it's hard to tell. I would say do a TI backup and flash something fresh. If you like JB, I think viper 3.5 is good for you.
You could also try calibrating your battery. I did it, and it seems to have had, at the very least, a slight placebo effect .

Hi guys,
So im a first time HTC user. I have always had nexus devices.
My wife took a liking to my nexus 4 so i went out and got myslef a red HTC one.
Ive just looked in the battery stats and it says that HTC sense is using up 28% of my battery.
Is this normal or is there something wrong?
Obviously never using one of these skinned devices before i dont know if its supposed to be like that ut it just doesnt seem right to me.
Thanks for your help guys
2% for me (and i am using blinkffed quite a lot)... running ARHD 12.1
Ouch so ive got a bit of a problem then...
Im running 4.2.2 if that makes a difference 100% stock.
1 % here. Stock and unrooted. I suggest you to download "Wakelock Detektor" from Play Store, maybe there's a solution.

Crap. I was hoping for better news. HTC promised a fix and apparently delivered a half baked version of a fix. Less tint isn't a fix. Thanks for sharing though.
Mine runs better but then again i am still locked. Judging by the OP going back to 4.1 i bet he flashed it on his own, which probably accounts for a large amount of the issue.
Mine is noticeably faster. The xda app has been god awful since the last update, so that is not due to 4.3.

No problems here! enjoying the update! Also not rooted or unlocked.
Don't use the XDA app, but everything seems good for me. Completely stock, not rooted. Longest I've ever kept a phone this way, and if I can find a way to tether without root, I don't know that I'll feel the need to for a long while.
i didn't flash the update i went back to stock and then updated to 4.3 ... im s-off so i just went back to 4.1.2
I'm not rooted or unlocked. Never have been in this phone. I'm noticing faster than normal battery drain and a laggier scrolling experience if you will. Phone still flys, but not what I expected.

did it last afternoon, and then did a factory reset. I didn't see any power drain problem, maybe even better, but the signal strength seems to be lower, which according to others might just been the data signal strength.
I noticed the laggy scroll too.. and transitions back to the home screen
I'm having an annoying issue. I keep my phone on vibrate most of the time but like to turn off the vibrate function in apps like Twitter, Facebook, Gmail, etc so I don't get a vibration when someone tweets me, emails me, etc. Since the update, it still vibrates when the box isn't checked. Can anyone try to replicate? Thanks

I have recently bought a HTC One and the battery is behaving very poorly. My screen brightness is set to around 25% and I only have location services and Auto-Sync on and I can't even go half a day with this thing. I have tried running all kinds of different ROMs to see if that changes anything but it doesn't.Side note it was bought from Swappa if that changes anything.

Look at the first screen shot, warning signs already. Your screen was only on for 30 minutes and yet your phone was AWAKE for almost 5 hours. I see your using 3g data but your Wifi has been on for almost 6 hours. Also your phone radio is using up quite a bit of juice which I assume is because your signal isn't great. Biggest recommendation right now, turn off the location stuff, they are battery hogs. You should also download betterbatterystats which breaks down all the things keeping your phone awake
I also can propose to you to turn off the wi fi ... For me it eats my battery more than the 3G signal.
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
Even with low signal, this a very odd behavior. The battery is draining too fast.
Try downloading CPU-Z and check the active processor cores and sensor operation. You might have a defective unit.
Good luck.

In BBS you need to show us your partial wake locks and personally I find most roms to be the same regarding battery life. I don't think the device is defective, something whether its a rogue app or a messed up file is keeping the phone on when you have your screen off
My phone has not always been this way. Its started in the past week. The battery seems to dive at the end of the day when I quit using it.

it's the NSA!!!!!!!!!
I'm not sure the cause or a permanent solution. But if you see the battery dropping fast... Whether it's from "phone" or anything else.... A reboot should clear it up and you won't lose so much battery life.
That is, if you notice it dropping too fast. Sometimes you might not catch it till it's too late and you're running for a charger. Lol

It's pretty obvious some app is keeping your phone awake once you have solid mobile network signal. Time for you to find out what it is.
I have Gravity box installed. That's it. last night I charged it all the way up before I went to bed. I woke up with a 50℅ loss! This time it was the media server. Whatever that is......if I look on the wakelock detector there are 1000 little things but nothing stands out. Tonight I'll do the same thing but do a reboot before I lay it to rest.
What's weird is I only get this problem when the phone is not being used. If its of any relevance I leave the WiFi on all night. And have it set to turn off when the phone sleeps.

you should know the drill. start getting rid of apps to see if it improves. or, go reverse and start over, installing one app at a time. other posters above are right. you've got something else polling, that's causing the wake lock.

Seems like you could also just have some faulty hardware? e.g. a bad battery or charge sensor?

Usually i use this two
Wakelock detector
battery widget
Use those and paste a print here

Making progress. It was some app left running that kept it awake. Not sure what though.

How long have you had the rom? If you recently flashed then you need to let it sit for a day for the rom to settle. Learned that with the Dynamic Kat ROM.
If not, open the battery graph and check your wake time vs screen on time. A friend of mine had this issue on his S4 a while back. Clearing the cache and rebooting the phone worked for me. Worst case is you reflash the ROM.

That really sounds like a bit of voodoo. A ROM doesn't need to "settle" with regard to power usage.
Hey, that's what I was told in the DK thread, they said to let the rom settle for a couple of days. The first day I flashed the rom I was getting 4 hours of screen on time, three days later I started getting 6 hours of s.o.t. They had an explanation as to why this occurs but I forget what they said.
If you don't trust that, try recalibrating the rom by downloading an app that deletes the battery stats file.
Sent from my SM-N900A using XDA Free mobile app
I have heard that ROMs need time to settle many times. That is a myth. Resetting battery stats does nothing except erase battery stats. There is no calibration.
On your battery settings click on the graph this time. See how your network connection is. Could be an issue where you lose your connection and the phone consumes the battery searching for a network connection.
Also did you add anything new lately like an app or an email account?

Something's running keeping your phone awake. Try Wakelock detector to track that down. Also try the carrier iq thread idk what it does seems it fixed stuff for people and made their phone sleep better.
