Hello,
I recently lost my IMEI and just got my replacement phone from Motorola. I'm looking to unlock and root again but I don't want to lose the IMEI again! Is there a way to back it up? I've seen how to do it on other phones but nothing for the Moto X 2nd Gen yet.
Thanks.
You don't "lose" your IMEI as such. It won't not show up, in case you flash a wrong radio. Unlocking the boot loader and rooting your phone alone won't make your IMEI disappear. So go ahead and unlock, root you'll be fine
Yeah, what did you do besides rooting to get to where you were? I suspect you flashed an inappropriate modem somehow? Can you confirm?

Hi
I just got a XT1094, with the chilean carrier Movistar everything was great until I installed a leaked new version of google seach, the phone stop working and when I turn it of and turn it on again gets on a boot loop hole.
I can access the fastboot mode but when I use recovery appears the android robot wih the warning sign for a few second and then it goes to the boot loop again, factory reset dosn´t work neither.
The phone isn´t rooted or have the bootloader unlock.
Please I am starting to get kind of desesperate.
You have the XT1094 ? Odd, i bought it on release on same carrier and it is the XT1097
If its not rooted or unlocked, just go to Movistar and change it, ill do that since if you mess up something you might lose warranty.

Actually I assume that was that version but I cant confirm, I cant return it to movistar one of the first thing that I did was let it escape of my hands so it now have a few scratch that will avoid the warranty I am sure.
I dont think that a few scratches will void warranty, after all the problem is "software", just go and say that it doesnt turn on and it goes to bootloop
Especially when it is THIS new, and its not the hardware that it fails. I assume that since its unrelated it should not void it
I will try it, I don't know what else to do I will have to go tomorrow.
In the worst scenario if they tell me that my warranty is voided, What sould I do?
I think you could flash another stock rom trough ADB, look for a pure edition (Brazilian should be ok)... That should work.
By the way, in the base of the phone is the version of your phone (next to where you charge the phone)

Yeah I haven't noticed it until a few minutes and you were right is a XT1097.
I have downloaded a few stock roms called moto x pure KXE21.187-42 and a Moto x pure multi tool that in the post said that work with XT1097 also but I need to have the bootloader unlocked and I don't know if I can unlock the bootloader in this status.
You can access fastboot, so yes you should be able to unlock it (search the FAQ in this forum for more info on how to do it)
BUT go to movistar first, keep this as a backup plsn, if you mess something you may lose the phone.

Hi so I went to the storeyesterday and they change it with no problem at all.
My new moto X is working really fine even the old one have some issues with moive voice that this one dosn't have.
Thanks a lot
Excellent !! Glad i was of help
I was attempting to flash a stock recovery today, but after flashing I had no service. I went and looked at my IMEI number and, sure enough, it was corrupted. I was stupid and didnt take a backup beforehand.
So right now I'm looking at two options. One, find a way to restore my IMEI. I do have the number, thanks to Motorola Customer Service, but I have no way to change the phone's number to it. And from what I've read, it's illegal to change it anyway.
My second option is to get it replaced/repaired through Motorola. It is a Pure Edition, bootloader unlocked and rooted. Customer service has told me that the Pure Edition remains under warranty when unlocked, but not when rooted. Is there any hope for me to get them to replace it? I cant get texts or calls right now so I'm in a pretty bad position and need this fixed.
Any help/advice is much appreciated.
Thanks
How you flashed stock recovery? What exact command was used? What does it mean "IMEI number corrupted" Is it 0?
It is illegal to change the IMEI on the phone, but not to upload the correct original IMEI to the phone. So if you do have the IMEI then you can flash it back. There are tools to help you do that. I am not going to link them, because most people don't use them for legit purposes, but search Google and you will find what you are looking for. Sounds like if you are able to flash it back you would be up and running in no time.
I would say it is not absolutely necessary to flash his IMEI again. I have the case on Moto X 2013 when my IMEI was 0. It was due to wrong radio image flashed (i.e. I flashed NON-HLOS.bin and fsg.mbn from European Moto X to non-European Moto X). And I have restored IMEI just flashing right radio image. So no illegal operations were made in that case.
Probably he made a mistake flashing stock recovery and flashed it to radio instead of recovery. In this case he need just reflash radio and IMEI will be restored.
Does anyone have the right radio to flash for the pure edition? I need it also
please help me
accedently i have deleted system and internal storage in moto x (xt1052) indian version , so i have restored brazilian version now every thing okay but my phone imiei number is zero, now it not working network, someone please help me to fix my problem
You need to flash the modem from the indian firmware, not the one from the brazil firmware.

Hi xda,
so I killed my EFS Partition on my last Moto X and had to send it in. That cost me 100€ but I got a new phone, with a locked bootloader. I confirmed this with 2 Motorola Chat Supports, but if you unlock your bootloader, they wont honor their warranty, even if its a hardware problem that was there from the beginning. So I'm kind of scared to unlock the bootloader again, but I really want root. Is there any way to root without unlocking? Thanks in advance

As of now, no there is not
OK before you jump me I have looked for this and I can't find it.
How do I backup this phone? a non-rooted, non-bootloader unlocked Moto G?
This is a Verizon moto G. There is no slot for a sim card. XT1028
I am not talking about DATA backup. I know how to do that. I am talking about backing up the rom.
Supposedly I can backup the rom with Nandroid - but that requires root
The fastboot menu screen has a backup selection - on phones with sim cards. Not on this phone.
I didn't even think you could unlock the bootloader

Short answer: you can't.
Long answer: without unlocking your phone, you can't get root access (custom recoveries always have root privileges). And without that, nandroid backups other than data are impossible.
To get more info about your device, you should go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g.

A Chinese cracker was selling unlock codes up until October or November. Details are very sketchy because not a lot of people bought from him since the Sunshine app was half the cost, but allegedly he did supply some unlock codes in Sept./Oct. for the Moto G 2014.

Thank you very much. I had suspected this but unfortunately most, no ALL, of the backup guides out there are written by Sorcerers Apprentices who apparently believe that every single Moto G in the entire Universe looks and works exactly identically to the one they have in their hand, when they are filming their Youtube videos that are so shaky they make you seasick enough to toss your cookies.
Thanks for the pointer to the correct forum.
Well I have been modding phones for a while, and I've been able to avoid anything this catastrophic so far, but yesterday while using Qfil, I clicked on erase entire flash.
So far I have recovered everything except my IMEI so my phone is not connected to my network. My question is can anyone help recover or restore my IMEI to my ATT Locked LG V40 with unlocked BL and Unlocked Rom?

probably my guess is a no, you can get those back by flashing a kdz or using qfil unbrick method see if they restore imei

Not long enough obviously, one of the first things suggested before flashing anything is to backup the IMEI partition, EFS for Samsung, to avoid having an expensive paper weight like the one in front of you..
Might need to find someone with a box now.

Really I've never heard that before...I only backup what's tickable in TWRP .-. I think IMEI might be one of those options...
