I can't get viper4android working. I have a moto x pure edition. I've tried following the steps in this thread but it still does not work (the build.prop lines present in the moto x 2013 are not present in the 2014 edition). I can install the app and the driver but viper is not processing the audio. Any suggestions?
Nevermind. Got it working. I forgot to switch the button in the default audio effects manager to OFF.
Epic bump here, but I have the same question. The Audio Effects app is disabled, I'm rooted, SeLinux Permissive setting is a go, and still I have issues. Under driver status, everything is good except for "Processing: No". I've uninstalled and reinstalled the app and driver numerous times to no avail. After installing a custom kernel, it seems I can get it to work for a few seconds at a time, but it won't stick. It involves fully exiting both my usual music app (DSub) and viper4android before firing them up again.
I'm on stock 6.0 with "Krait kernel for stock android 6.0 (v5)". Suggestions/comments/whatever?

I have been using V4A for some time on my Android devices... Now finally when the Z3C could be rooted without loosing the DRM keys I went for it... Everything works just fine after the root, but I am totally unavailable to get V4A to work for some reason. Anyone that have this working with a rooted Z3C and locked boot loader? If you have, how did you manage to do it?

On my Xperia Z it worked just fine with a locked BL, I don't see why it would require an unlocked BL. My BL on the Z3C is unlocked so I can't say anything about that.
What problems are you having?

Thanks for your answer Dsteppa... Well, I have this rooted Z3C and downloaded the latest V4A together with BusyBox. The driver and BusyBox installs just fine and I'm able to change V4A under sound settings... But I can't get the V4A to work. Whatever changes I make to it there's no change in sound. E.g. on my S3 everything was working just fine.

OK... I must be missing some fundamental configuration then... Did you only install BusyBox and then the V4A driver for it to work?
What ap are you using to listen to music? Don't forget to change V4A to your default MusicFX (Settings > Sound)

Can you confirm that @ Settings > Sound > Music Effects V4A is default?
And did you enable V4A @ Headset/Phone Speaker/Bluetooth etc..
I have V4A installed, can confirm it works with bubbleUPNP and power amp. When you download the zip and extract it, make sure you install the largest file, then open and install the drivers. Then follow what Dsteppa said... It should work
Cheers ?

Hi and thanks once again for your concern... Yes, I have tried both the V4A FX and XHIFI and enabled them in Sound/M Effects and also enabled V4A for e.g. Headset. I've installed and used V4A on nearly 10 Android devices prior to this one without any issues at all. The strange thing is that I can see that the driver is active but not producing any change in sound... I also tried to reset the phone, also did the root process once more but the same result... Really strange as I see it.

Hmm then the only thing I can think of is you asking in the V4A topic, they should be able to help you there. Because it should work without a problem.
I have the exact same problem, viper4android installed on my D5803, rooted with locked BL, but not working. After spending some time trying to figure it out i found out that it doesn't work with the Walkman app, with google play music it's working fine. Hope that helps. I'm curious if you guys got it working with the walkman app?

Mine worked fine with Walkman, but I prefer PowerAmp (So I use that)
Thank you for your answer, after more digging around i found out that it's working with Walkman app too, but only on the phone speakers, it does not work with the headset. If you go to driver status (on headset) it says processing no, and it does nothing, you can't feel any difference, i have to mention that i use a pair of Sennheiser momentum in ear, and have not tested with anything else. On the phone speakers it says, processing yes, and it's working...
I bought the XPERIA Z3C for its native support of High Resolution Audio (HRA). This is the problem why it's not working for me... I found out that when playing a 24 bit FLAC file the V4A driver just won't process?! It worked fine on my Galaxy S3 (i9300) but not on this. 16 bits FLAC files play just fine, but when I play HRA files the sound processing just wont happen. I don't know if it's related to that it's a separeta DAC (Wolfson 1811) in the S3 and the Z3C uses the Qualcomm 801 with embedded DAC.
I'm having problems too.
Rooted my z3c especially for this and it's not working.
I've installed the drivers and then the app asks me to reboot, after the reboot I've entered the app and again, it asks me to install drivers like I never did.
Any idea on how to fix this?
Put V4A in compability mode and it will work probably

it's because of your busybox, it's either not installed or not properly installed, had the same issue.
Hi can yous confirm if this increases ringtone volume?
It's because of your duel recovery and rooting method, if you install busy box it might most likely erase your recovery on xperia z3. It happened to me actually but Viper android fx will work, if you prefer Viper android fx and no recovery go 4 it and install busy box from Google play you do a backup then reinstall your recovery via computer then restore your data from the backup
If you have duel recovery on xperia z3 or z3c it most likely has a different busy box compatible with that recovery

I solved Viper android fx not working with duel recovery on xperia z3 XD all I did was set selinux mode to permissive and it didn't ask me to install drivers again and again it works now

Well, is there a problem with flashing the .zip or does the app dont work properly?
I used this (first two .zips) and this.
If that is still not working you should try that too.
The app works ok, but the sound is the same, its like doesn't have any effect.
I'll try lá ter.
Its not only Q&A but a thread with the app funcional to ower device.

I got V4A working by using the zip/apk standard download, then installing the apk as usual (making it a User app).
Install the V4A driver.
Make sure your Compatibility Mode is set to Normal.
Reboot.
Install SE Linux Mode Changer app from the Play Store (or edit your build.prop) to switch your SE mode to Permissive. (L's default is Enforcing.)
Open V4A up and tick the Enable box to use V4A on the ”phone speaker” tab.
Play some music! Check to see if it is working by unticking the phone speaker Enable box.
*If* it still doesn't work... Try the following one at a time:
Set Compatibility Mode to Compatible.
Tick the Force Enforce V4A under the phone speaker tab.
Install as a System app instead of a User app.
Try a different music player app. I'm using Shuttle+ and it works perfectly. I've heard some player apps don't work as well as others though.
Hoping this helps you a bit. It seems to be one of those trial & error things to get Viper set up on Lollipop. I even have to do things a tad differently to get it working on my Nexus 4 & 5.
?
Ty worked Great. I didn't Changed to permissive.
Maybe some moderator could move this thread to Q&A?

Hello, I flashed all three zip files from the first link but upon rebooting, v4a continually force closes. Don't have any other sound mods.
I'm on 5.0.1. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

The last .zip from the first link is outdated. Try to delete it and use this one.
Make sure you use the right .apk for 5.0 (should be A4.x).

Hello, thanks for the response. However, v4a kept force closing constantly and continually so I'm not able to navigate within the device. My biggest idiotic move was I didn't make a nandroid....assuming all will be good.
Anyways, I'm now on a hunt to flash stock rooted rom. If you have any info on that would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks.

OK all the file flashing is not useful at all if ur running stock. The only reason they exist is for DIFFERENT DEVICES, meaning ur flashing crap that is meant for something else and can have bad consequences. The flushable zips all have scripts that add lib files or script to build.prop. The flushable zips also seem to mess with any app that handles kernel configuration. ie if u like to change clock speeds, nothing would stick on this tablet after I flashed those v4a zips. Would always revert to stock.
For v4a to work. FIRSTLY run selinux mode changer. The person that said they got this to work without it is wrong. Dead wrong. The driver will NOT I STILL OR INITIALIZE UNLESS SELINUX IS PERMISSIVE. This must be done to allow android to install the driver to the kernel. Period. Run selinux mode changer, set to permissive, reboot. Check selinux, sometimes u will have to do it 3-4 times for it to stick. Then install the newest v4a from their site I think it's @ 2.3.4.0 the older versions needed the flashable zips for some files the Nexus lollipop update didn't have. They fixed this. Now just install the app normally, then open it and install the driver. Reboot. If u r on cyanogen unlock the developer options and turn off or unchecked "use nuplayer" finally, if u use gone mad music player go to options, audio, tell it to use external dsp.
Profit!
I've never needed to use compatibility mode or anything else. Works like a champ.
Hello! So, I woke up to some modules uptaded today, and as usally I rebooted my phone so I can see what's new. My modules are currently Android N-ify, Assistant Enabler, Lock screen clock mods [L-M] and Pixel Navigation Bar. When I rebooted Google Assistant was not working so I tried installing various old versions that worked before, but anything happened. I tried disabling all the other modules to see if there was any compatibility problem between the new updates but it still didn't work. When I enabled all the modules to use my phone at least without Google Assistant but comfortable with the UI, any of them worked. It is weird since they were working after several reboots. Xposed says it's active and that the modules are working but I clearly see they are not. My root access does work since Xposed-non-dependant apps are working. I hope you can help me and I thank you in advance.
Edit: I forgot to say that I'm running Android Stock 6.0.1 on a moto G4.
I am on the latest MM release & kernel to hide unlocked boot loader, rooted with Magisk SU and hidden to use Android pay. I currently run Magisk module for V4A. I have been trying to get V4A to work with installed driver, but after trying several methods suggested in V4A and Magisk forums, it will only work in compatible mode with standard Google play music app. It will not work at all with Pandora or Amazon music player apps. I am not sure what compatible mode means other than it hides the driver information, so I assume it is functioning without driver (?) somehow, with lower quality results? Ultimately would like to get it to work with Pandora, my go to music source, with or without Magisk module interface. I am not sure what the Magisk module is doing if anything as the V4A works the same with the module uninstalled. Thanks if anyone has experience to share.

You have to get V4A magisk, audio modification library and universal deep buff remover (this one you might have to get from the xda thread, the one in the magisk repo seems to be broken) to get viper4android to process in all apps in normal mode.

Thank you for responding, I did try both of these fixes by ahrion, plus he later put out his own magisk v4a module with the fixes incorporated in it, unfortunately no changes, I am wondering if it is something specific to the DT as I have never read of anyone running v4a in normal mode on a turbo.

I've been running that setup I described for a month now and it's survived rom updates as well, never had any trouble with it. Did you get the universal deep buff remover from the xda thread or within magisk manager?

I wasn't sure of source so just loaded deep buff remove from xda thread. Also running the audio mod v 1.4. After reboot neither Google play music or Pandora worked in compatible mode, rebooted to normal mode and no processing from either source. I removed deep buffer mod via his deep buffer restore mod, now Google play music back to running in compatible mode only. Thanks for trying to help me not sure what's different from your setup
I finally rooted my K50a40 and the device is running on official MM 6.0 S327_160517_ROW. Ever since the update last year, there has been a problem in the volume on the speakers.
Sound is loud for only about a second and starts to fade and gets almost inaudible even with the volume at max. I can barely hear even with the phone right in my hand. Rarely the volume doesn't fade and it works fine, totally on luck.
Pausing the video or audio and playing again makes the sound loud again for a second but fades again in the same pattern.
I tried everything from disabling the Dolby, using custom equalizers and music players, clearing app data for dolby and media storage, even hard reset. The problem still persists.
I tried MTK Engineering mode for the audio tweaks but that didn't help either.
The sound in headphones works just fine, dolby works too.
I rooted my phone with SuperSU/ TWRP and have installed Xposed libraries in hopes for a solution.
Please help.

Install a different ROM the nougat ROMs are really good i would suggest RR official if you like customizations or lineage from danielhk if you like a good stable ROM with low levels of customization or you could try going on needrom.com and look for a rom there dot os is fine but idk if they are stable
Now here are the steps for the rr and the most roms i mentioned if the steps are not included in the thread read the thread carefully before installing a ROM don't reboot
-Now go to twrp i latest is always best but you could use danielhks twrp it's good too
-Press install search for the rom file it should be a .zip and let it install
-Now flash gapps (Our phone is arm64 and for nougat roms it's 7.1 gapps flash pico)
-And let it install don't reboot
-And now flash MAGISK it's better than supersu then reboot
-Now when you boot you set up the rom flash the venom kernel it's on xda it's the best
-And now if you want to use apps like snapchat you can't unless you flash the magisk module safety net fix it's an old module so search it up on google
-And then you're set up and don't use xposed on ROMs it's not very stable and makes the ROMs lag
And also don't use Oreo roms they are not stable too
