if you are s-off, first relock your bootloader, then flash the latest ruu, , reset the tampered/relocked flags, set s-on. i had to do this to send mine in to get the camera fixed

I did S-off with revone when it initially came out. I have since flashed many firmware and I am currently running on the 3.18 base with the hboot that comes with it. My phone still says S-off and I can still flash custom firmware. I was wondering if the S-off is still kept through flashing newer hboots. I believe it is because custom firmwares still work but a little insight about this. Thanks.
Your phone will be always in S-OFF...
But if you want, you can port it in s-on

As a practical matter, it is impossible to "lose" s-off. You either have to manually reset the flag in fastboot, or overwrite the partition where the flag lives with an img from an s-on phone.
It's theoretically possible for HTC or a carrier to push out an OTA that resets s-off, but they would never do this because of the bricks that would result.

Well the basics, in theory are simple, you need "stock rom" and "stock recovery", unfortunately "bootloader RELOCKED - TAMPERED" will not go away without s-off, but you would still get OTAs
Let's start at the beginning. How did you get "Firmware 4.2.2 (2.24.206.1)"? Did you use an OTA, or were you s-off at some point.
No RUUs out at the moment will work, because there are no 4.2.2 RUUs leaked, and you would need one with the same or newer version of hboot, firmware, and rom.
The best you can do IMHO is restore a nandroid of O2 and "stock recovery" for the same version of the nandroid. Note that this WILL break you touchscreen drivers, so you will have to use an OTG cable + mouse to be able to get OTAs up to 4.2.2 at which point touchscreen will work again.
Hope this helps a bit

Need the 2.24.206.1 nandroid backup too or the 2.24.206.7 :sly:

I hoping I can get some clarification on this subject. I may have to take my phone into Sprint for either repair or new phone since it will not connect to the newly added 4G network in my area. So going back to stock my be needed for me to do so.
Since the RUU for the 4.4.2 update isn't available yet, is there a way to downgrade back to 4.3 so I can return back to stock? I did the OTA update in stock, then gained root access.
Does the process require me to turn S-Off? I'm currently S-On running Running Bad Boyz Sprint ONE KitKat v1.0.
If I go S-Off, is there a way to turn it back S-On? Not sure if Sprint will look at this setting.
Also, I have the update radio and hboot
HBOOT- 1.56.0000
RADIO- 1.00.20.1108
OS- 4.06.651.4
Will I have to downgrade my hboot as well?
Any help will be much appreciated

You're S-On. Your only option is to perform a factory reset, flash the stock recovery and re-lock your bootloader.

I need to restore my phone to a version of stock android (either an actual stock RUU or Android Revolution or whatever) so that I can get to the UICC option to turn off my SIM card (this setting is not available in CyanogenMod apparently).
Because I am on a newer firmware and because I am S-ON I do not seem to be able to install any of the (mostly older) RUUs I have found. Any suggestions? Is there an RUU for 4.06.651.9 that I am not seeing? Is there another way to roll back my OS to allow an older RUU to be installed? Another option altogether? A way to S-OFF while on CM?
Thanks for your help

you can use this then take the OTA updates
http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/guru_reset_m7_sprint_3-04-651-2-zip/
Is this the 3.04.651.2 RUU? If so, I already have a copy, and when I attempt to run the ARUwizard I get Error 155. Most likely I am doing something wrong. I just assumed that since I am already on 4.06.651.9 that the problem was I couldn't install the older 3.04.651.2 version. Thoughts?

This is exactly the same issue I'm experiencing. Well, now I'm even beyond this point... I am only able to boot the phone to the bootloader.
Edit: I am relocked as I am S-ON. I can't update firmware as the signature check fails. Flashing the 3.04.651.2 zip has a signature verify fail, as well.
Hope this helps

If you can still boot to bootloader your phone is fine. You should still have recovery (TWRP?) on your phone I assume. Regardless here are some steps that should help:
1. Figure out if you are S-ON (is found on the bootloader screen)
2. If you are S-ON, try Rumrunner to get S-OFF (just google it). This will allow you to install any RUU regardless of your firmware.
3. If Rumrunner doesn't work or you don't want to go to S-OFF then download the 4.06 RUU here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2658910
The problem is your firmware is ahead of the corresponding firmware of the 3.X release. As such you have to install from the newer RUU.

Actually, it seems that the phone is wiped; I can't boot my recovery. As a result, I can't really get S-OFF. I'll try the 4.06 RUU, but would it make a difference that it's .4 and not .9?
EDIT: I'm talking out of my ass right now. Long day, and this isn't helping. I am figuring it out; unlocked the bootloader, and now things seem to be functional. Well, except CM doesn't seem to want to boot any longer, but that shouldn't matter for long.
EDIT 2: How can I get S-OFF without enabling debugging? As of right now, CM is just in a boot loop.
Sim Unlock Sprint HTC One Max
I almost cannot believe how many different ROMs I've tried to flash after wiping out my original ROM.
Bootloader unlocked and rooted I managaged to relock the bootloader while trying to fastboot flash a stock ROM, which also failed.
Beleive it or not, I've have found a couple that will boot up with my Sprint HTC One Max . I was able to re-unlock the bootloader, flash a new rom and even recover user data I had backed up to my PC via adb backup.
All this for not, as I still cannot find a Sense ROM that will flash on my device and allow me to unnlock the Sim via Sim Unlock Helper.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Hi,
I want to send my HTC One in for repair, so first I need to restore it to stock.
However, I recently updated my firmware (and hboot) to the new 4.4.3 base (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2793539) so right now I am (s-off) on hboot 1.57.0000... Is this a problem when sending it in since this firmware isn't officially released yet (or is it)? And if it is, is it possible to downgrade my hboot?
Also, must I flash the firmware WITH the red warning before going S-on and locking the bootloader again?
I have flashed the stock odexed ROM, boot.img and recovery from the ARHD site (http://android-revolution-hd.blogspot.nl/p/android-revolution-hd-mirror-site-var.html).
Thanks in advance for any help!
No that firmware isn't officially released yet, it's still in testing stages so you will have to downgrade your firmware to 5.??.401.? Lucky for you this firmware comes with hboot 1.57 however if you have flashed a modded hboot/firmware ie to remove red text, then you will need to flash an official one, just find the official firmware package and use that, it comes with the hboot inside it, if you s-on with modded firmware or hboot you will have an instant brick.
The arhd site your got the Rom from should have the firmware package too.

Great, thanks! I will flash the original firmware in a sec, but the most recent RUU I can find is this one: http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/ruu_m7_...0-38r-1157-04l_release_353069_signed_2-1-exe/
And I am not sure if that is also based on hboot 1.57 and because of that, if I am able to flash this RUU. Currently I am downloading it but the download speed is terrible, I will report back after I tried.
Or are you saying that I can flash the stock firmware 5.xx.401.xx on top of the current 6.xx firmware? I thought that wouldn't be possible because I'm currently on a higher firmware version but I'll give it a shot!
If you are s-off, you can flash or downgrade anything, however I would personally flash the matching firmware to the ruu that you are downloading, however, the firmware and hboot will be included in the ruu and be downgraded when you run the ruu, so just run it, once it's finished and you boot the phone, you can ota up to the latest version.

You may have to remove the TAMPERED flag before running the ruu and also lock your bootloader, not relocked as the ruu will replace which ever recovery you ha e on your phone for the stock one, sometimes the ruu requires a locked bootloader whether s-off or s-on.
Once it's finished, boot the phone once and then back into bootloader and check the hboot version, if it is lower than the version you have on there now then you'll know you have stock hboot and should be safe to s-on, however like I said before, make sure your locked and tampered has gone before setting s-on (not sure if s-on is required for warranty)

At the moment I don't have a tampered flag, it only says 'unlocked'. I'll try to lock the bootloader before starting the RUU. Do you know if the Tampered flag will return if I S-ON my M7 after completing the RUU?

Unfortunately I don't know that, there's been some reports it comes back after you s-on not after the ruu, I think it's HTC 's way of catching you out, others say it's been fine, are you sending it to HTC or your operator ?
---------- Post added at 04:14 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:12 PM ----------
However , if you've had s-off with that phone before, chances are you'll get it again, you'll just have to do whatever you did before to get it, then go back to stock again, and send it s-off.
