Hi guys!
i have a moto x with bt unlocked. i've updated my moto x to 4.4.4 few weeks ago when i received the OTA.
i'd like to flash to stock rom back with rsd lite to have a complete factory reset, but the 4.4.4 stock rom german version isn't already available.. so can i flash the original firmware my moto had before the OTA (german retail 4.4.2) with rsd lite and then update it again to 4.4.4?
i'm not sure i can flash 4.4.2 over a 4.4.4...
thanks a lot!
Since you took the 4.4.4 OTA if you try to downgrade you will BRICK! There are warnings all over this forum.

Hello. You have the Moto X XT1052? If you have the Moto X XT1052 with the bootloader unlock you can downgrade from 4.4.4 to 4.4.2. Download the firmware 4.4.4 Verizon and extract the files motoboot.img and gpt.bin and copy them to the firmware 4.4.2 Retail.en.DE and flesh with RSDLite. At the end you will have the Moto X with firmware 4.4.2 Retail.en.DE

I do not doubt you, but please do not encourage others to risk a brick, when a newer ota comes, for what is of little gain.

You are not given a forum where freedom of speech. You have tried as I did? I tried and it works. Just because I did the downgrade and not an important person of XDA does not mean it does not work. I do not care what you think the guide works. I'm not going to argue with people who express opinions without trying and consider themselves smarter and more prepared than others.
@solocchi
So you did it! But what did you gain? You are unlocked.
Please do this:
Make your own thread for your exact X variant & carrier. Warn others of the risks for other phones. Then "have at it!"

Opinions are one thing, but you are recommending downgrading to people, just because it worked for you. Which can, and has bricked many Moto X's. It's all over this section, threads and posts from members who tried and bricked. Some never could fix their devices.
I REALLY hope you understand that you simply got lucky. Great! But now since you got lucky, you are advising people to downgrade as tho its perfectly safe. My friend, that is incredibly irresponsible. And how will you feel when they come back to you and say their phone is bricked? Will you have it repaired for them?
I hope you get my point. You got lucky, as have some others.... But far more people, on XDA anyway, did not get lucky. Google "moto x bricked xda" to see the stories.
I hope you will reconsider advising people to downgrade, and just count yourself lucky and keep it to yourself. Again.... Unless you want to compensate the people who try and fail. ?

Guys, don't listen to solocchi - I think he wants people to brick their devices.
You want freedom of speech solocchi? You got it. But you had better not expect people to not disagree with you. We have freedom of speech too.
Hey guys: I put my phone in the microwave for 60 seconds, then under water for 5 minutes. Then I dropped it and stepped on it.
It still works fine and it's totally safe!! Now who wants to try??
LOL
Disclaimer: don't actually do this.
Now see what I did? I followed the rules by adding a disclaimer as required by XDA.
P. S. No, it's not freedom of speech here. This is a website, ran by people... People who make and enforce rules . Passing out dangerous or malicious advice can get people in trouble. Trust me. ?
Don't worry guys, with the factory reset I'm happy
Hello,
my moto voice stopped working and even a factory reset didnt help. So I unlocked my bootloader and everything from the Rom I downloaded. I got an error upon flashing the modem, but the script sadly still deleted modemst1 and 2. Everythng works now, except the phone is now Brasilian and I have no signal whatsoever. My Moto is a XT1092 if it helps. Help would be much appreciated
Indeed yo may killed to modem/radio, probably your carrie does not support the same bands as the retail brazil carrier. Which carrier are you?, all gsm bands still may work unless you have CDMA.

Im currently using o2 germany. Just got off the phone with the Repair company and they said if i have root or unlocked bootloader its fubar and they wont repair it. WTF....i found brazil or us stock firmwares, but no german one...
I doubt it is broken. But it may not work until you find a stock original ROM to flash. Maybe you should look for a UK or FR ROM , I believe there is only one ROM for xt1092, not a specific German one. It might be called EU ROM, but I haven't searched for it.

The Build that was running on it before definitely ended in DE. But I will keep searching for it. Do you think I should send it to a repari center and risk paying a lot of money, or should I just wait until a German Rom is released somewhere? I mean, Android L at least should fix it right up again.
Because you are not stock you won't be able to update it to lollipop... For the repair center you are the only one to be able to answer that question

I am stock, I actually managed to get my TWRP Backup back on the phone, so im on a German Rom again. Still, the modem doesnt work, as TWRP doest back that up.
I see... You have to find a stock radio and to flash it again.
I think someone with unlocked bootloader can probably extract it for you?

I hope, Android L will flash a new modem. If that would be the case, my problem would be solved

Good guess you're right. But I suggest you to ask someone with a xt1092 and an unlocked bootloader to extract radio for you, ask it in the dev section.

Hey all,
I was wondering if anyone knows of any way I can get Lollipop running on my US Cellular Moto X (2nd Generation). As far as I know they haven't pushed out an update and they've been pretty quiet if they even will. If anyone knows, let me know! Thanks!
It's possible to get 5.0 on XT1093, but buggy and difficult. Not really worth it IMO. The Liquid Smooth, CM, Ressurection, etc custom ROMs will work for you though.
A little birdy whispered in my ear it won't be too much longer before Lollipop officially comes to USCC's Moto X 2014...

I agree they haven't been known for timely updates for most devices. However, they have done very well with Moto X and Nexus 6 so far, and considering Lollipop is currently running on LESS THAN 0.1% of all Android devices it's safe to say they're not exactly "behind" on the Moto X 2014 either. They got the original Moto X updates extremely quickly, faster than or on par with major carriers in fact.
I have heard that Lollipop soak testing is underway for our device. I'm not a soak tester myself, but this is what I have heard.

Before you accuse me of cheating, try reading my original post more thoroughly. I was part of the soak test! Also, if you looked at my original screenshot, the baseband alone would show you that it was developed for US Cellular (USC). I have posted the rest of the screenshot so there is no doubt in your feeble mind that I am running official firmware! Also, this firmware was the final soak version. I do not know if the OTA will be a different version from what I currently have, as I have not received the OTA myself. I hope this satisfies your pessimism.

I won't receive OTA because I am in different system. My phone is XT1097 and now is XT1085 (chinese). that's why I was asking about where you get the firmware because I want an american image to test the moto voice, chinese version is not working properly, but I see your post below that you are in soak program.
Just a comment, no matter if you are in chinese, american, european you can always have your original baseband with different system, even when is not meant to use it, that's why we asked about it.

By the way, if there is any system image of your phone out there you can use the modems, is indifferent if is kit Kat or Lollipop, they will work in both systems.
Good luck

Hi.
So I bought this xt1097 AT&T branded.
I would like to keep only one feature from T-Mobile and it's WiFi calling. Rest of the phone can be stock Motorola.
Is it possible to flash any ROM that would have T-Mobile WiFi calling?
Oh the phone is 5.1 already.

Ah, sorry. I forgot the AT&T model cannot unlock the bootloader.
Thank you guys.
Are people still working on cracking the AT&T G870A or is it a lost cause?
If yes, how's it going?
I had a G870F but sent it swimming on 20m deep for three weeks. Needless to say it didn't survive.
Found the G870A and thought it was a bargain, however . . .
Pretty much a lost cause, most devs have moved on.
So the answer is not so straight forward. The current v 5.1 and above for the AT&T phones are not currently rootable. If you find a used or remanufactured S5 or S5 Active with 4.2 you will be in luck. I just had a problem with my Active found a replacement on the most popular buying and selling web site for around $230. Just make sure it has not been updated. If the seller is advertising it as 4.2 and you get it with 5.0 they must take it back if it's not what was advertised. Hope this helps.
If you want an S5 to tinker with you should get a tmobile variant the SM-G900T, or the international SM-G900M since the active model is basically a carrier exclusive they dont have any international ones that im aware of.
I dont understand the question of OP
I used a popular search and found rooted firmwares for the 870A.
Several people who replied have in their sigs that they have a rooted s5 Active..... I would think that to mean the phone has been "cracked" and isn't a lost cause.

When you update the firmware, it automatically updates the bootloader. Once that bootloader has been updated, it's locked down. No downgrading firmwares, rooting, or installing custom recoveries.

Yeah, that's basically what I gathered after a lot of research online.
Some claim it can be done but when trying the method/software, it doesn't work.
I just wanted to double check since there is a lot of expert knowledge in this forum.
One thing i've been thinking though (not that I can do it): how about picking the phone apart
and wiping/replacing the bootloader manually?

Well it's soldered to the board. You would need some highly specialized equipment to do it. Even then I'm not sure.

Is this the case with both the G900A and the G870A. I'm in the market for either one since they are going for just of $200 new on Ebay. Are both phones now locked down of is the Active more problematic?
Both are locked down. AT&T and Samsung are being jerks to us and not even letting us have a developer phone to try to use like Verizon had.

If you are looking to root, then buy one that still has Android v4.4.2. They are available you just have to look for them. Don't put the SIM card in until you root or it will auto update and you can't go back.

Hi Sgt.CM,
I got my AT&T S5 on release day and never updated it. I have a SM-G900A with Android version 4.4.2! Is it possible for me to put CM13 with marshmallow 6.0.1 on there? I had assumed it was impossible...
Thanks,
Frozen

Nope can't because of locked bootloader. The best thing you could do is too root with towelroot and then flash safestrap and install a custom rom from there.

That is what I thought. What are the custom rom options? Is there a rooted marshmallow rom for the s5 i can install?
Also according to these articles it is possible:
http://rootmygalaxy.net/install-cm-13-rom-on-galaxy-s5/
http://androiding.how/download-galaxy-s5-cm13-rom-marshmallow/
I'm guessing they may not be correct?

You can look in Galaxy S5 Android Development.
