i just realized that lollipop has a feature, that nobody has noticed. i didnt realize that it was a feature in lollipop at first, you can add stuff to the quick toggle! what i did was just use a function(hotspot) and it got added to the pulldown. functions like hotspot, or color inversion will get added when you use them

Yeah, not a new info. But there should also be a way of removing them without resetting systemui... I played with invert color option just for curiosity and that damn toggle sat there forever then...
I wonder why Google is always reluctant to add the most requested functionality like quick settings management is...

Was about to post about them not disappearing... Until I read this
I always thought the Color Inversion toggle just got completely stuck there.
Didn't know about the Hotspot one though.
Hey cool! I've been wondering if it were possible to add a hotspot to quick toggle.

Wasnt this present in KitKat? Called dynamic toggle
There is a setting shortcut in widget, when you choose notification log, it will show all of your notification history.
Is this a new features or it's already there since kitkat?
i wouldn't consider this as a feature. it just adds 2 more toggles depending on whether you have used them or not. It's not like allowing you to fully customize your quick toggles

Hey guys.
I've searched for a couple of hours for 2 apps and can't find them. I ran a search on xda and nothing.
First app:
A battery indicator that i can see in the notification area but does not have a icon on the notification bar. I want to be able to drop down the notification bar and see the status of my battery in percentages. I prefer my notification bar as clean as possible.
Second app:
Power controls in the notification area. I found Quick Settings, but that opens another app to change the settings. I'm looking for a way to activate wifi, bluetooth and so on just by taping something in the notification area.
Thanks.
So, the conclusion is that there are no such apps?
It s only too much.
Quick settings is very impressive. It starts the app from the notification bar, thats right.
But, what would you all switch from the notification bar:
Wifi
APN
Brighness
GPS
Auto Sync
Bluetooth
Airplane Mode
etc...
There are too much options for one notification bar.
I'm thinking that an app like this would let me choose 3-4 toggles. I realize it's impossible to have them all.
Oh, and a toggle does not take a row, instead all the toggles should be on the same row but with separators between them.
OK, I' have to say, that I never found such a programm. Sorry.

So the default power bar widget won't work for you? It's pretty much exactly what you pictured, however a widget.
If you want to choose and have your own order, use beautiful widgets.
Why try and cram this into the notification area? You have 5 desktop screens (more with add-ons and custom ROM's) to put this stuff. Navigation from screen to screen is fast and easy (even if you hate the swipe thing).
Or this even? http://www.cyrket.com/p/android/com.extendedcontrols/
Dunno, just lost as to why I guess.
Yes, you are right, it looks like the power settings widget, but i want it in the notification area to be able to change settings without leaving the current app and stop using the widget. I need the space for other stuff
moved to the Q&A section
What about quickdesk? Kmobs hads mentioned it on twitter couple of times. you can put anything you want even the settings widget and can change it without leaving the app.

Hm, its getting close to what i want. I'll give it a try.
UPDATE: It looks promising but it hijacks the "once press home button" functionality, meaning i can't get home. Uninstalled!

Are you talking about the widget? If yes, its not what i'm looking for. Like i said, both apps need to display something in the notification area, so no widgets and no notification bar icons.

i never tried it but damn is too bad the home button gets removed didn't know it. but the app is in beta maybe it will get fixed.
UPDATE: Today the QuickDesk app was released on the market and it fixed the issue, so now i can use it
One problem solved.
PS: I strongly recommend QuickDesk so go download it.
Im coming from WM cooking, and just started with theming on my Nexus S.
But im missing a key ingredient on the N S.
and that is from Galaxy S i had, quick access to on/off swithes for wifi, bluetooth, silent etc. see screenshot.
if anyone can help me or build it for me i would be forever greatful as this feature is one of the best one.

yup. its in all nexus s's also, power control widget. its just modified in cm to include more features
there are paid apps $0.99 that can do that as well
as i recall Switch PRO (forgot correct name) have the option to attach itself to the status screen

Stock Android 2.3.1 (which Nexus S) uses doesn't have that.
PS. Is it really necessary to write in bold/red/italics? Man it was annoying having to edit the quote to remove all that.
my work around is to stick the Power Control widget on a screen of my choice
it's included with stock Android
but there is no option to attach it to the status screen

well, i was looking for the powercontrol for the statusbar, as the statusbar is accesible everywhere, when desktop is not, as i recall

Again, CM has the setting to change the colors and the items in the status bar power widget
Widgetsoid does a great job at a power control widget and it is free.
http://www.appbrain.com/app/widgetsoid2-x/com.jim2
I've missed this from my Galaxy S too, but the best work around I've found is Quick Settings - search on appbrain (cant post links as I'm 'new') and configure it to display in the notification shade, but to hide the icon in the notification bar.
If there is another solution to properly get buttons as on the Galaxy S ROMs (other than the often suggested - "flash CM7") I'd love to hear of it though. I know the notification shade can't be edited by a simple .apk, but this isn't the first time I've seen this request and would have thought it really ought to be possible somehow without delving into the deepest darkest recesses of the android system -but of course I am probably wrong
Has anyone been able to get the hotspot quick settings toggle icon to appear? It showed up automatically on my N4 after I installed the lollipop update. So far, its not showing up on my N6. I've turned hotspot on several times but still no icon.
Google really needs to add a way to customize that menu.

Not sure why yours isn't showing up... the only thing I've changed which might be related is adding the following to build.prop
net.tethering.noprovisioning=true
Hope this helps.

Mine didn't show up on my GPS Nexus 6 running on AT&T until I made this change.
I guess that's the reason then. I wasn't planning on rooting my phone but between this and the encryption, I might not have a choice. Thanks for the responses guys. I have no idea why Google would restrict that convenient button by default.

Thanks, the hotspot toggle showed up as soon as I added this to my build.prop.
I got mines once I turn it on without root and build.prop edit..

What do you have to do to have it normally pop up in quick settings? Is it supposed to show up after the first use?

What carrier are you on? Maybe that's the difference? I have been unable to get it to show up on both AT&T and Verizon.

AT&T and Verizon phones both check your subscription before allowing the hotspot and this is why the toggle doesn't show up on its own
That must be the reason since that check is what the build.prop change disables. I still think its silly that it affects the button though. My plan allows tethering. Can't I have the quick settings button and when I press it, it can check my subscription just like the deeper settings menu option?
After updating to lollipop I found out that the silent mode doesn't work during sleep. Even though it shows its ON.. all the sounds can be heard and notification sound also works.. Anyone else got this problem?? :screwy:

Oh... one other thing to be aware of is that a bug exists in Moto Voice that sets the ringer volume to 60% (if it is set below that, or even off), every time it is invoked, purposely or accidentally. Perhaps that is what is causing the behavior you're seeing.

I think Motorola has to update assist.
Right now seems that android's settings overwrite Moto's settings.
Assist works great for me. Every night I have it go to sleep and 12:00 and all notifications are quiet until 5:00. It just uses your priority settings, so I am not sure why it isn't working for you. Your screenshot wasn't taken during a time it was supposed to be sleeping, right? Because those settings (as shown) are allowing all interruptions.
Mine works fine, but the deal is: some apps override priority modes by themselves (looking at you, facebook stuff), you have to set them manually. At least, that was my case.

You need to set the days and time for "Downtime" in which Moto Assist (Sleep Mode) enables Priority Mode.

Headsup notification is not available for all app ATM. Only those app which enable notification with setPriority(PRIORITY_MAX) or setPriority(PRIORITY_HIGH) will be available for headsup notification. BTW go to settings>sounds and notification> interruption> when call and notification arrive and select "always interrupt" if it has not been selected yet
With some custom roms such as SlimLP, you can turn it on and off for all apps.
