[Q] super cid, flashing other carrier roms - Sprint HTC One (M8)

can someone plz clear few things up for me..i know this,if i have super cid and i do..i can upgrade my firmware with non harmon version or the h.k version..but when it comes to flashing roms from the att or the tmobile or international threads im bit confused...as long as i have cid set tpo super cid can i jus proceed flashing the rom like i normally would in the sprint section ??or do i need to change the cid to att cid number before flashing there roms?or do i jus leave thecid set to super cid?i have yet to try another carrier's rom cause im still uncertain on exactly how to do so..i dont understand why we need roms ported over to the sprint section if all we need to do is change cid to super cid and flash away..surely im missing something ...i have super cid now and the htc m8 sprint h.k phone sprint phone....can i just go to any carriers development threads and choosewhat ever rom i want?..man i hope so cause that opens the door to soo much..i relize this is a newbie question and if not posted in the correct secrtion on xda id prolly be banned for good..lol..but i am in correct section so plz be easy on me

Well you could flash other roms but unless their files have been set up for sprints network you won't be able to do much there are still other differences as well between each rom for each carrier

Same question, except I don't need my phone to work on Sprint. I'm using my device Internationally. Could there be any issues?

Well you'd also have to make sure the partitions are set up correctly as well as you could end up with boot loops or worse ie: android revolution 22.1 will boot directly into bootloader unless you use a correct sprint kernel that allows for it to boot. If anything try using bad boyz rom and apply their sim unlock method. (provided your using a sprint phone internationally)

[Q] optus incredible s

Hello all,
I've got an Optus branded incrdible s. I'm looking to flash another Rom to it so I can be rig if all the crap boatware that is installed. From what I have read the virgin Rom is clean and since virgin is owned by Optus it should be fine.
I was wondering if this is possible to do with a gold card. I check my phone and it is vivo pvt ship s-on. Will this be a prblem.
Also will I loose all of my pre installed Australian maps?
I hope you can help. I have been reading for days and keep reading different things. Sine say yes some say no and I want to be sure before I go and brink my phone.
Cheers
Par
Just try it
If you have the optus ruu (dont know it out of my head if its available) you can always restore things like that.
I dont know if the goldcard method is working for an optus, but you can try: if it wont flash, no problem nothing happens, you wont lose any of your data if it wont flash.
However: when it does flash you will lose all your data, you have to put everything in again. So probably you also lose the Australian maps since your flashing a rom which probably doesnt have that in it.
Its quite fail-safe, a brick of your phone is not very likely to happen....
Ive tried to flash the virgin rom but I keep getting an error saying its not compatible with my phone.
I used the easy goldcard creator and the app to get my CID in my phone. Not sure if the goldcard was made correctly. The app says it was successful. Perhaps you cant do it to an Optus branded phone.
If anyone else has an optus incredible S and has de branded it please tell me how.
Cheers
Pat
OK I can confirm that the Optus branded phones can be flashed by using a goldcard. I have flashed the virgin rom and it is now set up for Optus as there was an option to do so.
What I had to do to get it to work was download simple goldcard and got the CID from the MMC2 (HTC inspire) option. All other forms of gold cards would fail.
I can confirm that the bloatware is removed and it is clean of all the Optus **** and boot images.
I will check google maps and make sure the maps are still all there, which I would asume since virgin is owned by optus and this is an Australian Rom.
I hope this helps some other Optus users out there.
Cheers
Pat
Filipiak.
Apparently there was an update sent out to Optus phones with a fix for delayed sms, can you confirm you received this update? If so, what's the software number?
Kind Regards

hey, i've also got an Optus Incredible S. its a great phone, but its got optus all over it and the bloatware is killing my battery.
btw, where did you download the goldcard?? im also thinking of flashing a non branded ROM.
I updated to the version with 1.16.0000 HBOOT, and I used a goldcard to downgrade it so I could S-off.
Currently running Virtuous Affinity with no problems at all. In fact, using the latest radio I get faster downloads in more places on the Optus 3G network Im very happy I did it.

Oh, and here is the guide to create a goldcard
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1373697
mine is already 1.60 with S-ON, right now im waiting on the Official 2.3.5 update with sense 3.0, but i'll still probably have the optus bloatware everywhere.
what version did you downgrade to to make the goldcard and turn S-OFF?? Optus ROM also??
You mean 1.16?
Im not sure what its name was, but the version I downgraded to was a sense 2.1 stock rom, as in a HTC rom not an optus one. i.e, it had no optus bloat. The HBOOT was 1.13.0000 which I s-offed with revolutionary.
I think youre a bit mixed up, you create a goldcard so you can downgrade, otherwise it will refuse to 'update' to an older version.
So you create a goldcard, then you s-off, then you can root, then you can flash.
I hope I helped
If you want the official 3.0, why don't you flash ARHD??

yeah, that
lol im definitely mixed up with all this. so a gold card is like an image of your android software you can use to flash your device? so if i want a custom rom ill need to s-off. and to s-off i need to downgrade to a htc 2.1 rom? but wont i need to flash a 2.1 rom in order to downgrade? i thought you couldnt flash with s-on and 1.16? LOL yeah im lost with all this, i understood flashing with Windows Mobile and iPhone a lot better.
I have an (originally) Optus branded Incredible S, HBOOT 1.16.0000, and was able to flash CM7 without using a goldcard by following this guide
If my understanding is correct, you need a goldcard to downgrade to a previous version, a goldcard is not a rom or anything, it is a modification to your sd card.
You could also 'unlock' via HTC dev, but you will remain 1.16 s-on, and you can't do all the things we can on 1.13. I don't think flashing new radios is possible. Correct me if I'm wrong?
This is why I spent my time downgrading instead of using htcdev. Also, using htcdev signs away some of your warranty.
I don't know about flashing radios with S-ON, I just wanted to confirm in this thread that it is possible to flash a custom ROM in this way to remove Optus crapware.
fair enough. the guide to unlock the bootloader doesn't look too difficult. all i want with this phone is to flash a clean rom with htc sense. looks like a hastle though.

HTC One Google Edition

Anyone going to get the HTC One Google edition on the 26th next week? I already have Tmobile and I could just get it and pay 20 bucks a month to pay for it. Im just wondering if anyone is going to pick up the Google Edition?
Will it really have priority updates? or is that what people only say to make themselves feel better? Couldnt we just flash the ROM and Kernal from the Google Edition when Google updates it to android 4.3... 5.0 etc.. to the GSM varients? Since they all have the same components.
Its better to get the T-Mobile version and just flash the Google ROM on it. I forgot where I read that you can flash an AOSP ROM on a sense based variant but not vice versa.

There would be no reason why the GE couldn't run sense. They are the same HW. I'd like to see the source of whoever made that claim.
You have two devices that have the same exact HW just running different SW. Why on earth would you be able to run AOSP on a Sense version and not run sense on the GE? It just doesn't make any sense whatsoever. Is it because the bootloader and partitions are different? if so with s-off that can certainly be changed.
GE will have the Nexus bootloader interface so it wont be a simple flash job to get Sense
@OP: better to get the T-Mobile version as it would be easy to switch between Stock and Sense

As long as you have a custom recovery and the boot, system and data partitions are the same blocks you should be able to flash Sense just fine even with the GE bootloader. Even if the partitions aren't the same you can modify the update script for the sense rom to map to the proper boot/data/system partitions. The only thing I see being a problem is the partitions being different blocks. It doesn't make sense that you'll be able to flash the GE rom on the non GE device and not the other way around.
We have everything we need to convert to Google edition and back again. The key is fastboot mode. We should be able to install an ruu or push the images manually. The only question is will the RUU exe file recognize a converted phone. I'm assuming all we need to do is make sure the Cid matches or we use supercid

GE phones wont have any CID so i doubt the RUU would work in converted phones, unless Google gives us a way to flash to Sense version phones without changing the bootloader

well thats nothing official but if that is the case then it should be easy to switch back and forth
I've seen the CID in several locations and it's probably correct. I hope so anyway
I'm just ready for AOSP development to skyrocket.

You will have fastboot commands with the GE bootloader just like you do on every nexus device (and HTC devices). The bootloader doesn't have to do with the rom.
If you have a system image or even a rom.zip you can flash in fastboot and it will be fine.
the way to flash a sense rom with the GE edition bootloader would be to flash it in recovery like any other rom or fastboot flash system system.img, fastboot flash boot boot.img. The bootloader doesn't care if it's sense or if it's senseless just as long as you're flashing to the correct partitions you should be fine.
And it will have a CID. It will most likely be a different CID than what's out there now. It might have a different model ID as well.
But hey.. what do I know? I'm just a noob and don't know what I'm talking about
The Google edition CID already exists in the hboot code. Just, well, 'Google' for it using a hex editor. Proof enough for me.
So it seems this was planned all along. Interesting.
So will we (those with the original One) be able to just SuperCID, flash the Google RUU, change CID to Google edition CID and effectively have a Google edition phone?
Or instead of that, will the excellent devs here just port the GE Rom and we can flash it that way, without getting OTAs of course...

Yup, pretty much. You should be able to just change the CID to the GE CID and then flash the RUU without using super cid but you'll be able to flash the ruu with super cid as well. I'm not sure if you need to hex edit one of the partitions to change change the CID to the GE CID to get OTA's or not(I think ther has been debate about this). The model ID might have to change as well if they use a different model number for the GE (Which I'm assuming they would)

Transform my Sprint model in an international one

I have a HTC One Sprint, SIM unlocked.I was wondering if it's possible somehow to make it identical to the international version. I already use it as a GSM phone. I have read the partitions are different. I am pretty sure partitions can be changed look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=806321 and here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1959691
CID and MID can be changed easily, so is it possible to do this?? Does the Sprint variant have any other differences??
Can anyone give me more info pls?

Since it's unlocked and gsm, my first thought is to go for broke and flash the WWE or the dev rom and go from there. You might need to include your phone model no., cid etc in the android-info.txt file of the rom to get it done, but it should work. You could also try the dev RUU exe and see if that converts it.
Different radios??? I'm pretty sure if you flash a gsm Rom wether it's AT&T T-Mobile or the international version you'll be saving up for a new phone

So the hardware is different, I know that it has a different antenna, but the rest should be the same. I'm telking more here for being able to flash GSM RONs

[Q] Switching from AT&T to Telus

Hey there,
I have a HTC One M7 (AT&T) I recently acquired from a family member that lives in the States. As a Canadian fellow, I needed to change my carrier from AT&T to Telus. I have already unlocked the phone and rooted it.. I just cannot, for the life of me, get S-off to function. I have followed instructions carefully yet I must be missing something.. I am now stuck, because the current custom roms I'm trying to install in order to have a unsecure kernel are starting to act strange. Everything seems to function, except no icons are appearing on the roms. Thank god for sideloader... My goal is to finally be able to use an RUU for telus on this phone so that I can properly use the data and other features that are offered on the network.
Can someone clarify exactly what steps I need to take? I've already used revone, moonshine, and firewater and none of them have been able to exploit the roms I've used. I need to find a rom that will work on this phone..
Any help is appreciated.

Looks like the 4G\LTE frequencies are the same , so all you should need to do is sim unlock. I don't think the Telus RUU will do anything for you.

Now that you point it out, yes, you're right. However, when I had the AT&T RUU it wouldn't let me access my data, only text. So that's when I assumed I required a Telus RUU. Right now I'm actively trying to get a rom pushed to my device so that I can install it.. However every time I push the file (adb usb) then (adb push filename.zip /sdcard) it doesn't appear in my clockworkmod recovery. I go to install zip then install zip through sdcard and nothing appears.. not even in the downloads folder. Sideload won't function either because it gives me an error.. Can someone help me? The current rom that I have installed doesn't function. I believe it's insertcoin latest m7 version.
Does someone know if I'm pushing my file incorrectly and how I could fix that? Or does anyone know a fix to sideloader writing errors? How do I gain permissions to write? chmod 777? What is the process involved?
I would like to be on as much as a stock rom as possible, with Sense 6.0. I really want this phone to work and I'm consistently running into little issues like this adb push.

[Q] Trying to go back to stock rom but not sure which to use.

I'm trying to help a friend out by unlocking her bootloader, rooting, and getting s-off. Which I did manage to do.
What I want to do now is go back to a stock rom that is compatible with her phone. I had installed CM 12.1 to test it out and see if she was ok with it, but she wants it back to how it looked before. Thing is, i've been trying to figure out which RUU to use with the CID this phone has and I can't seem to find one. Also, she uses straight talk but her phone model looks like it's a verizon type. She told me her carrier uses GSM but this phone looks like it may only be able to use CDMA. That explains why she can't use her data. She wanted me to do all this hoping it would work, but I didn't realize the issue to recently.
So I just want to get a working stock rom on this phone. I'm not trying to go back to locked, unrooted, and s-on... Just need a rom that will work with this phone. Can anyone help me out?

There are 3 companies using the Verizon variant (M7_VZW), Verizon(x.xx.605.x), Cellsouth (x.xx.563.x) and UTStarCom (x.xx.557.x).
Maybe you could change the CID to Verizon and flash a Verizon RUU or simply flash a close to stock custom rom compatible with verizon variant.
