I know there is already one thread "SIM Unlock" went about 40 pages only discussing about Sprint customer service experience and emails on unlock from sprint. below are truths we know so-far ...
1. We all know that sprint is not unlocking the HTC One at present, even if they say it is unlocked that's not true.
2. Sprint HTC One is a world phone supports CDMA and GSM
3. May not support all frequencies of other carriers, but should work on other carriers voice, text and 2g or 3g data.
4. Cricket flashing is successful, you can flash your devices to cricket or MetroPCS
SO Let discuss only progress on unlocking the Sprint HTC One for GSM carriers using software modifications. did one have break through modifying phone.apk ?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think the Sprint HTC One even supports the basic frequencies needed for AT&T/T-Mobile in general.
this is all discussed in the other thread. you should read through it. lots of good information

Actually #1 is no longer true. They've since changed their unlocking method and folks, including myself, are now rocking SIM unlocked phones. In fact, I successfully used a T-Mobile SIM in my Sprint-unlocked HTC One (GSM data only and very spotty coverage).
I have a Sprint HTC one which I got to India, but when I insert a SIM here it says SIMLOCK ENABLED.
is there a way to UNLOCK it????
I have already tried to install a couple of Custom ROMs, but couldn't install, instead bricked my device.
I have unbricked my device, but couldn't unlock my Device.
And also my ClockWorkMod says it is Unable to load Cache and also is Unable to load SD Card.
ANY HELP PLEASE...!!!!!

Hi
I was also interested in buying a sprint HTC ONE which i was plaaning to use in India. However, no where I could find a concrete support that HTC one for sprint were being unlocked. As you have already purchased the phone, would you be willing to buy unlock code from internet. Some sites are doing it for $4. I am not sure whether it'll work or not. But I guess after buying this phone, you could take a risk of 4 more i think.
And if it works, could you share with us so that even I can go ahead and buy a sprint HTC One which would be used in India on GSM network.
Thanks
i´m facing the same thing

im facing the same thing... but i haven't unbricket my htc one... i´m almost crying... i have installed a custom rom, a m7spr-RootBox-JB-houstonn-20130615... this gave a lot of errors... unfortunately i didn´t save the backup in a different part than in the phone's hard drive... now, when i tried to install a stock rom like Sprint_HTC_One_1.29.651.10_Stock_Deodexed, i have the same annoying error executing this: fastboot flash oem Sprint_HTC_One_1.29.65.1.10_Stock_Deodexed.zip
this are the results...:
sending 'oem' (970876 KB)...
OKAY [ 43.733s]
writing 'oem'...
(bootloader) signature checking...
FAILED (remote: signature verify fail)
finished. total time: 116.155s"...
i have tried even with cyanogenmod... with the same results. i hope you can help me... i guess i´m doing something wrong... but i can figure out what. thanks in advance. All to try to avoid the simlock enabled :'(
For customer ROM you must unlock you device first

Just call Sprint customer service, follow the menu prompts until you get to the International department and ask them to unlock your phone. If you meet all the requirements they'll put your case in for review and you'll get an email in a day or two saying your phone is unlocked and give you instructions for completing the process (power phone off, insert foreign sim, power back on, update UICC).
It's only supposed to unlock the SIM for international carriers, but mine somehow got unlocked for domestic carriers, too. But that is not the norm that I know of.
If you've paid full price for your phone, they may still try to tell you that you have to wait 40 days. This is BS. Be POLITE but insistent that this is not the case until they give in or escalate you.

I don't understand the number of people from outside the US buying the Sprint version. Why not buy the international version or at least one of the GSM versions from AT&T or T-Mobile? Does India even have CDMA?
Currently on the phone with Sprint now and they are telling me it has to be on my account for 90 days before they can unlocked.

You are lucky. I've talked to Sprint several times claiming that I'm unlocked and have received the same emails confirming the steps that you just mentioned but I'm still getting the Sim Locked enabled message when I insert the foreign Sim card.. I've been with them for years. Every time I call I get a different story from a rep. I'm rooted with stock rom, correct me if I'm wrong but that shouldn't affect in anything right?

Sprint won't unlock phones that were bought at full price if the line the phone is activated on is not currently under contract.

If you paid for the phone outright, that shouldn't matter. Tell them so firmly, but politely. Ask for a manager if you have to, or, you could threaten to leave. Also, I find that complaining on twitter can help quite a bit.

I'm not sure I follow. My contract had expired, but I was still on Sprint just doing month to month and they unlocked the phone. At first they were trying to say that the phone had to be active for 40 days, but I assured them that was not the case and pointed out that they had already authorized an unlock under the previous system.

I was stock rooted when I did it. Are you clicking on the UICC Unlock button? Does it say "downloading new profile" or some such? If it still isn't working I'd bring it to a Sprint store and see if they can force it or replace it.

Yes I did what it says on the mail " Turn off device > Insert 3rd party SIM > go to Settings > System updates > UICC unlock. You will receive the update and it should change to GSM Mode." All it says is that it's updating and after finishing I click ok and that's it nothing else happens. The only reason I don't want to take it to the store is because they will tell me that the phone is rooted and they won't touch it and I'll have to unroot it. Any input you'd give me is appreciated.

You must have gotten lucky. International support (both phone and chat) and [email protected] email refuse to unlock my One for the reason that the line it is activated on is not under contract.
Edit: I replied to the [email protected] email saying that I understand that the person who responded doesn't set the policy, but that they should unlock the phone because I own it and otherwise I'll port all four lines out. Unlocked two hours later. Thanks for the update that your line out of contract got unlocked

So I found mint HTC First on eBay, the description says it's not activated and not unlocked.
My question is, can I buy it, export to Europe and unlock it using the hack posted here?
I don't have access to AT&T SIM card and never had AT&T account.
Can an unactivated HTC First be unlocked? Is there a way to bypass activation screen?

thing is...you can but the phone and unlock it im sure. but you will need a sim to tell if its unlocked and be sure about it.
things you should know...
1. the htc first uses a micro sim
2. the htc first has almost zero support from developers and is no longer supported by htc or att
3. the htc first is known to be prone to problems during root and flashing of any kind of kernel or rom
4. it does not have removable storage wich makes our jobs a bit harder.
so if you could, go for another device if you simply dont want to have to constantly mess with it (i personally like to do all the flashing and hacking) so if you want to get a good device cheap...dont use ebay...use this: http://www.cellularcountry.com/

Alrighty then. Um the first would be a nice device then!
but keep in mind...i dont promise anything. your idea of unlocking it SHOULD work. But if it doesn't idk. If you get it in good condition you could re-sell it.

Concerning your second question, I am not sure. I bought mine in mint condition, so it had been unlocked beforehand. But I guess it should work if yiu just put your sim card in the slot abd do the unlock procedure.
Hi guys!
I bought a new S3 Mini two days ago from an online company as a Pay as you go phone it came with a Vodaphone top up sim and i have no use for the sim as ive got a contract/pay monthly sim already i just needed a new phone, Anyways ive received it and its locked to Vodaphone WTH?? its a PAYG phone why have they locked it? Anyways as its the new type S3 mini "GT-i8200N" (Faster CPU) ive been looking for a way to sim unlock it without using these dodgy online companies as my brother paid for some company online to unlock his phone and they started buying items all over the world with his Card details so for this reason i wont use any sites online! so i wondered if there is a way around this and does anyone know how please?
Many thanks

I am looking to purchase an At&t branded N6 for use on Vzw...I've done the research and I know for sure that it will work. I also know that I need to get an unlock code for it to be able to work. What is the quickest way to receive a code without having to pay a fee? Thank you so much for your help.
P.S. The seller inserted a Vzw nano Sim to see what would happen, and it immediately asks for the code...does that mean it's already unlocked n all I need is the code? Or does unlocking and activation all happen in one step once the code is entered?
Its locked my friend but why not by it directly from Motorola or GPS?
Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
Is it true I don't need a code if I root the phone? If so, are there any precautions to take?
No it is the carrier in which you purchased the phone is who locks it. Once the phone is paid in full you simply call your carrier for the unlock code although there are some stipulations to the rule such as you can only unlock two phones with in a six month period.
Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
Yes I know of the stipulations...the phone is paid off, but from what I'm reading it takes a min for att to send the code...
I know it's easy enough to unlock...n I don't have the money to be able to buy outright, spending a few hundred less buying from a seller
N all that is currently available in my area are Att branded N6s lol
And I do already have an active nano Sim, so that makes things easier
By the way, I love Jedi Mind Tricks
all you have to do for them to sim unlock it is pay it off completely then ask tbem to sim unlock it. once its paid off, they have to sim unlock it if you ask.

No. Rooting the phone is not related to, and will not affect the need for carrier unlock.
Hi, so recently I stuffed my One m7 during a battery replacement. I damaged the ribbon plug on the motherboard that connects the touchscreen so now my touchscreen doesn't work.
My device is a 2014 international HTC one m7 in Australia. Unlocked bootloader, rooted, custom ROM Android 5.0.1, custom kernel and Xposed. I haven't been able to locate a replacement board using the part number but I have some options for motherboards on eBay.
However, I can't find an international/AU board. I have found some T-mobile and Verizon which I assume are UK and US?
On close inspection, some of these boards are visibly identical so my question is - can I order one of these identical boards and fit it to work with my device? Thanks
Im guessing the tmobile motherboard may work for you if you unlock it. Im sure the bands are the same for all gsm variants so i think the T-mobile motherboard would work fine. and receive cellular signal without a problem.
How much are the costs on ebay tho?

Thanks for reply. Costs vary from around $60-$150. I've also been told to try match part numbers as that might cause problems with compatibility
It might be easier to buy a broken m7 from here https://swappa.com/boneyard/search?csrfmiddlewaretoken=7i3WZXfPCSNv7Q2t5S90dFXjpFrZh7Jb&q=htc+m7 or from ebay. As long as its not bricked you can swap the internals and you'll be fine.
I did the same when my motherboard was messed up. I bought one with a cracked screen on eBay and just transplanted all the internals in to my m7 for me at the time it was cheaper than buying another motherboard. Cost me about $70

Just to add that if you are doing what said above, make sure to buy a phone with a clean IMEI. The IMEI number is tied to the motherboard so if you buy a blacklisted phone and take the motherboard to repair your other phone, the repaired phone will have the blacklisted IMEI. But its a valuable option, I wouldn't spent 150 on a motherboard when you can find brand new M7 for 180-200 on ebay. And stay away from Verizon motherboard, you don't want that crap
Thanks! Will keep that in mind. I've resorted to my HTC Sensation for now with an m9 on the way but would have liked to revive the m7 just for the sake of it. It was a good device
