[Q] Loud earpiece problem - G 2014 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Whenever I make calls from my Moto G(2nd) the volume through the earpiece is very very loud at full volume. It literally acts as a loudspeaker. Is it my phone's defect or is it with every Moto g 2nd gen?

Its with every Moto G (2nd gen).

@ashisharma1706
Well, maybe you can reduce the volume thru the volume- button ??
I dont know, just saying ........

I have reduced the volume

I have reduced the volume but that should not be a solution. Should a earpiece act like a loudspeaker at full volume? that is my query. Is it my phone's defect or does everyone face the same prob?

sound volume during conversation

i had a conversation outside, and i could almost not hear the other person. the sound is really soft.
i turned up al the volumes that i could find. are there any settings like in a smartphone to get more volume through your speaker during a conversation?
i'm having the same problem too..
Any help??
Maybe a solution (duh!!)
on my smartphone i could press the volume up and down buttons during a call. but on this phone, as soon as you start talking, the screen and buttons go in standby!
so to increase the volume, first turn on your phone, then press the volume up button.

I wish it was so easy. No the sound is at maximum but tit's still poor quality. In my opinion this device is very disappointing.
did you turn up the other sound settings as wel?
system sound for example?
Did you guys remove the default screen protector? It covered up my speaker so I couldn't hear anyone on the other line, but when I did eventually remove the protector, everything was loud and clear again!
The screen protector covers the speaker!? That's quite poor...
my bad..double posting

quite poor, what???
yes, when out of the box it has a screen cover from the factory, covering everything including the speaker.
use the up volume during the conversation. volume is ok. sound quality is great.
one of the many reviews is mentioning the "exceptional" sound quality of device.
another very common and highly recommended solution is ...."wash your eyer!" one hehehe...just joking..hehe
I have the same problem as well. The talk volume through the headset seems ok, but should go louder compared to my old htc touch. The ring volume and speakerphone volume isn't loud enough at all. I have both volume sliders up to max.
Anyone know of a reg hack to get the speaker volume louder?? I know it can be done cause I once saw it for some other wm6.1 phone, dunno which one anymore :S

Anyone can help to increase the speaker phone Volume

The speaker phone volume is so low that I cannot hear people's speaking in open area. Does anyone know how to tweak it to make the speaker phone volume acceptable? Strange, for music and ringtone, the speaker volume is OK, For phone call with speaker enable, the sound is totally unacceptable.

However, the problem is different, the phone vol is sound good, but once I switch to speaker phone or using Video Call, the speaker phone volume is totally unacceptable. Does someone know the registry to make the speaker phone volume better.

"speaker problem?" how can i increase the volume?

Hi all ,
there is any chance to increase the volume of the speaker ?
he is very weak.. (and his volume is on maximum)
tweak or smting will help.
thanks !
No tweaks really available for this. There are like one or two tricks (one of which requires hacking your phone up) that apparently work.
Look around, there are tons of threads in regards to this topic.
Yes the speaker is crap on the diamond. Sooner or later you will get used to it and live with it
do not forget that you have three volume settings.
first system volume, second ringtone volume and third incall volume.
the last you can only set during a call. when in a call, turn on your screen and then press the volume up button. now you can change the volume during a call.
for me this fixed al the volume problems.
offcourse if you want to use your speaker for handsfree or as an mp3 player: don't. the speaker is not intended for this use and you will just irritate people around you. use a headphone instead.

I also thought that the volume during a call is way too low despite having the volume at maximum. Since I installed Phone Weaver which lets you control the incall volume via profiles it blows my ears away. Last time the speaker was too loud during the call but I couldn't turn it down with the volume keys?! It only changed the master (system?) volume but not the incall. What did I wrong?
I have found that the loud-speaker volume is very low during movie playback, what setting deals with this?
Use Advanced Config and enable all Audio Booster options. This maybe helps...
Also Diamond Tweak, maybe disable 100 db Sound Limitation...
However, these are I think for headset, I haven't tried if they affect the external speaker.
One thing that works for sure is setting equalizers to max in In Core player, but I don't know if the core player works on Diamond...
Don't you love it how I actually haven't helped you at all?
I am gonna test all these and edit this post ))))))

Increase the volume of the movie player if its not already 100%?
Personally my speaker is very loud. During calls, at around 50% volume its still so loud I have to keep it a little from my ear.

i think you have to be in the phone menu. when i press the volume during a call, it changes the call volume. maybe phone weaver assigns a different function to you volume button.

Coreplayer shows volume at 100% already, but the volume is so low I can barely hear a thing...
Anyone? It's weird because when I put calls on loudspeaker it's fine, but when playing a movie it's inaudible...

[Q] Stock 4.1.2 XXLSZ - Too high volume

Hello,
I just updated my 4.0.4 to 4.1.2 today, via Samsung Kies. (Dumbass I am, I'm not rooted anymore. Waiting for a tool, or maybe i missed something ?)
All run fine, excepted that in-call volume is really really high, even at minimum. It looks like the 4.0.4 speaker ON. I'm unable to get the phone on my ear without pain. :crying:
How can I fix that ?
Tried *#*#197328640#*#*, but it doesn't work.
Thanks in advance.
Am I the only one to have this problem ? :crying:
nope.. vol is ok..
rooting option is till there by flashing Philz LM5 kernel from stock recovery.. may be then you will have apps to control it.. or may be install the rom again with wipes.
Problem solved.
I just tried a call with a friend near me (sound was very high, he was earing himself talking), then I put speaker ON (volume was a bit louder), and when I shutted it off, volume has become ok (unable to ear something if you have not your ear on the phone).
Can't explain that... I didn't tried to put speaker ON after 4.1.2 upgrade.
Maybe a calibration issue.
If it can help...
Otherwise, sorry for that topic.
Problem came back yesterday.
Volume does not come back at a good level when I shut on/off the speaker...
I'm near outburst of rage
Try re-flashing and let us know...
Same issue

I have exactly the same issue, not tried turning the speaker on and off yet, but unable to adjust the call volume. JB is good but this is a failure at a basic level. Cannot find call volume in the settings, only ringing volume.
**UPDATE**
I tried toggling the speaker on and off during a call, made no difference.

It worked only one time for me.
Tried something else which fixed it : when in call, press key volume up 2 or 3 times, then hit the parameter key that appears right to the volume bar. You are now in the vol parameter, showing all vol levels. Your in-call bar might be at mid : slide it to low. Get out with home key : you can now take your ear on the phone, the volume is now OK.
This tip worked for me with my last calls. Hope it will works for you too !

Cool, I will give it a go, thinking about it I the last call I had wasn't overly loud, so I may have done something to it, but next time I am in a call I will click the volume configure button and see what I can do.

I can control the volume now from the buttons and the onscreen control, although it will not go to the lowest notch. Any solutions?
Happens to me from time to time as well. What I do is I just increase the volume 1,2,3 click and then tune it down and it fix it.
But yes - there is such issue.

[Q] loudspeaker during calls is very quiet

hi,
a friend of mine owns a i9305 and i flashed it for him.
but with one problem that the loudspeaker during calls is very quiet which occurred immediately after changing the rom and so i exclude a defect of the loudspeaker.
first i flashed omni and the loudspeaker was very quiet. i thought that the problem is a rom problem.
and now i flashed carbon and the loudspeaker is also very quiet.
you hardly understand what is being said during calls if the loudspeaker is activated.
on stock rom it was much louder but now on two different custom roms its very quiet if the loudspeaker is activated.
all other sounds like ringtones or notifications are loud.
can anyone tell me what is the problem and what can i do about it?
big thanks in advance!

Try the usual pressing the "volume down" hardware button and see if the volume suddenly jumps up - adjust volume as desired after that.
