[Q] Call / SMS logs - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

SInce we don't have root yet, is there a good solid app for moving call/sms/mms ( ALL of them ) logs over to the new phone? I've got my titanium backup's...but I can't shove them into the 6 yet obviously.

Gallery 3d, UID 10007, Email, 0 and dialer causing bad battery life

heya fellas
going thru my battery history on daily basis i find those 5 culprits abusing my battery.
Gallery: uses a lot of batt due to sensor usage ( def bugged )
Dialer: what in gods name is Dialer doing to abuse the partial wake/net connection(3G) ?
0: some freaky app i guess that uses a lot of batt under net connection usage(a click on this to see any more info FC the batt history app, wow)
UID 10007: no idea what this is but its right there under 0 using net connection too
Email: i doubt its something wrong but since i have it on a 10 min refresher i dont mind it being up there since i was the one who chose a 10 min interval. but still its sucking my batt
need pics? i could post em if anyone could help.
now id love to know if anyone knows of any solution to those huge battery suckers?
what in gods name is 0 ? or UID 10007 ?
Gallery 3d sensor still bugged? im guessing my only solution here is to delete this by titanium and use another gallery app instead of the original ? any recommendations ? has anyone been down this path ?
any info is much appreciatted ^_^
anyone ?
anything ?
Sorry for late reply.
You probably already have this fixed, but for others that still get this problem the fix is to remove the original Gallery 3D app with Titanium Backup and then install the same Gallery 3D from the Android Market.
Ah yes, and for all this to work you need to Root your phone, with something like z4root.
Hope it helps!
I've looked around about the 0 think, and came to the conclusion that it's probably the process for network standby (ie staying on the network). If anyone knows otherwise/can confirm that'd be great
Yes, 0 process seems to be an internal loopback for connections. All should go trought 0. Is fine, do not care about it.
An even easier way to get the updated gallery (with better resolution photos) is to install SGS Tools (not toolbox, tools), pick 'upgrade stock apps' then 'modded 3d gallery'.
The Email battery drain bug is a known one, maybe try using k9 mail instead? Or you could try the galaxy tab app, it worked fine for me (after a little fiddling, mostly to fix the camera FC issues) but it doesn't support HTML emails, which is a bit disappointing.
Or just set the update interval to something like an hour.
The dialer thing has been bugging me too lately, i havent nailed the problem yet.

[Q] Back-Up Questions

OK, I have the Note and have entered a bunch of stuff into S Planner using Kies Air which I like. Now I'm wondering if the phone fails for any reason, now what? S Planner doesn't seem to exist in the cloud, just on the phone. I would like to know that my whole schedule won't be gone if something happens. I am not rooted and I don't necessarily want to root although I have rooted other phones before. My main reason for not wanting to root is in preparation for ICS.
SO here are the questions.
If I stay unrooted:
1. Can I use a non-root app like MyBackup Pro to back-up everything especially my calendar in S planner. Meaning will it actually save all my appointments so I can restore to get them back.
2. Is there some other way to do a one click back-up of S Planner that I don't know about (like to Outlook).
If I root:
3. Will CF-Root keep me from getting OTA upgrades to ICS
4. Will CWM let me back-up S Planner completely?
5. Will Titanium backup let me back-up S Planner completely?
6. Will I have to wipe the phone entirely to go to ICS?
Answers to any of these questions would be appreciated.
Current Devices:
Samsung Galaxy Note KK9 on T-Mobile with Sonic Hotspot for data, LG G2X CM7 (Nightly #201 + GPS mod), HTC Mytouch 3G slide CM7
Past Devices. Most recent first:
HTC Touch Pro (great phone), HTC Apache, Audiovox Thera (lovable weirdness), HTC XV6600 (what a phone!), Kyocera 6035 (those were the days)
Nevermind. I just realized that I can use regular Kies to back-up the phone. And I can sync to Outlook through it.

SMS and Email application dependencies (I broke both of them)

Well guys and gals, I got a little zealous with Titanium Backup and started removing items left and right (Nearly 60-70 items). SMS and the stock email app (not gmail) must have depended on one of these items because they now crash frequently. The SMS loads the main conversation overview, but crashes when I click into a specific conversation. I've routed my SMS through Hangouts for the time being. The Email app crashes whenever I click on a notification of new email or even try to swipe it away. If I launch the application after that, it will work once again.
Obviously it's hard to say what exactly I removed to cause such behavior. Is there any sort of dependency map or list that I might be able to compare against my currently installed items to determine what I'm missing? The alternative is to wait until a full root is possible then just reinstall a custom rom. I can probably tolerate my work-arounds until then.
You can use safe strap and install custom roms now!
To restore your stock build there is a thread titled "how to restore MJ5" if you want stock.
Next time remember to do a full backup with titanium before you go delete crazy lol! We all learn the hard way. Also I recommend "freezing" unwanted apps first! Run with it a few days to see how it performs. Then if you feel bold delete. But we've got enough space you really don't need to delete.

[Q] Unable to find some icons/groups

First, thanks for any help. Although I am a techie, I am not a phone techie, just a reasonably advanced user. I love reading here, but get lost on occasion with terms I don't know.
That said...
Perhaps someone can help me. Got my new One yesterday, and proceeded to restore apps from my Evo 4G LTE using MyBackup Pro, which I also used to upgrade my 3 previous devices, and to restore when I updated Android on the Evo from 4.2 to 4.3.
After the upgrade, most of the grouped folders disappeared (except for the AT&T one.) I cannot find voice mail, or anything like that.
How can I restore those? I was careful not to restore settings, Android Home, etc. Just apps, text messages, and call logs.
By the way, I was careful in that no settings were restored, and nothing with Android home. Just text messages, call log, and APKs. At least, that's what I thought. LOL I'd like to retrieve the folders like the Google apps, and the multimedia (if I recall.) Maybe this weekend I would be better off just doing a hard reset and restoring carefully. UGH.

[Q] ROM Flashing/Data Backup Question

I'm looking at flashing a ROM onto my S6, but I have a decent number of things I want to keep, so I was wondering if there is a way to backup the data I have on my phone now, then transfer it back onto my phone. Specifically, I was interested in things such as free apps I have gotten from the Amazon app store.
I am already rooted, if that helps.

Click to collapse
Programs that come to mind:
Titanium Backup and Restore (Backup all of your apps in their current state)
SMS Backup+ (SMS and MMS Messages backup)
Then flash Ultra Light ROM
