I purchased the Turbo yesterday, there are many things I like but Cast Screen to my Samsung 2014 Smart TV is horrible, the videos are choppy and not worth watching at all, even something as basic as pictures is also pixelated and slow, my wife has Galaxy Note 3 with native Screen Mirroring feature and so does the TV and it works perfectly. Any suggestions or help to get my new Turbo to play smooth videos and pictures on my TV would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Has anybody used the Cast Screen feature at all? Any feedback is greatly appreciated..... continued, I tried WiFi direct; at first it would not even connect to my Samsung 2014 Smart TV, after much frustration I changed the wifi frequency on theTurbo from Auto to 2.4 gigahertz and it connected. My happiness was very short lived, my TV requires for WiFi direct to work that I install a Samsung app. called Smart View 2.0...which cannot be installed on the Turbo; it is not compatible.
I no longer expect that I will receive a reply here that will help me but at least I can be of some help to those sitting on the fence whether to buy a Turbo: If playing your videos from your phone on your TV is VERY important to you: Do Not buy the Turbo, if having a WiFi Hotspot without paying Verizon for double dipping is very important to you: Do Not buy the Turbo. If battery life, performance, reception, storage ( I have the 64 gb model) and overall good feel and looks matters most to you: BUY the Turbo. Good Luck
I can cast NHL Gamecenter to my Samsung TV with no stutter at all. I even have a crappy internet connection. I haven't tried any other videos, but photos are tack sharp. No idea why you might be having issues.
I also can cast Netflix or Slingplayer from the phone to my TV, works ok but it is also silly since my TV has Netflix built-in and Slingplayer plays my own TV channels, the problem I am having is with Screen MIrroring, that is what Samsung calls it, Motorola calls it Cast Screen, when I project my phone unto the TV screen the results are very poor, Videos are choppy and pictures load very, very slowly, when my wife connects her Samsung Note 3 to the TV the results are flawless, no lag, videos on her phone play in full 55" splendor perfectly, with the Turbo it is a terrible experience.
I was hoping someone here could try to play their own phone videos on their big screen HDTV and report back on results or better yet help me to get better results with my Turbo.

I don't know if my experience is helpful because I have a Sony Xperia Z3v and a LG Smart TV. I have much better success with screen mirroring (Miracast) when I have my phone connected to my 5GHz N channel of my router. If I use 2.4GHz, I get similar results as you or it won't connect at all.
Thanks for the comeback, I have a 2.4 gigahertz router so it is my only option, What I notice is a distinct difference in quality between my wife's Note 3 and my Turbo. It may be that since my TV is Samsung and so is my wife's phone, they are optimized for each other. In other words Motorola and Samsung don't like each other. Thanks again.
UPDATE: For reasons I cannot explain Screen Mirroring or Cast Screen from my Turbo to my HDTV is working perfectly and smoothly, I have the exact same hardware and software that worked terrible for the first 3 days of Turbo ownership, maybe I was not holding my mouth just right... now only one thing keeping me from the Perfect Turbo experience: I still have no WiFi Hotspot so I will have to hope an app. is developed that works without root or paying Verizon for double dipping.

Has your performance still sucked? I have a Motorola Turbo and Samsung H7150 and my screen mirroring is horrible.
Screen Cast
I'm using Microsoft's Wireless Display Adaptor and I'm unable to stream Netflix. I get audio, but no video. Anybody else having the same problem? Thanks
I have the Motorola Droid Turbo 2 and I have similar issues with casting my screen to two different Sony HDTV's. Videos from my phone drive will play choppy sound while projecting pixelated chunks of video to the TV. Netflix plays sound but completely refuses to show any video. I will try setting my phone wifi frequency to 5GHz and see. My friend can cast his Samsung with no problem. Might be time to just get an HDMI hookup.

Hello everyone!
I just recently got myself a Chromecast to use specifically with Netflix and Hulu Plus (casting from an iOS device).
Thanks to this forum I knew how to proceed for everything beforehand, using Smart DNS in my router, blacklisting google's DNS servers, etc. I have a TP-Link router.
Netflix is working perfectly, bumps to the 720p stream in about 6 seconds and another 5-6 seconds later it streams at 1080p without any noticeable drops so far.
Hulu Plus however is being problematic. It might smart in HD (sometimes) but either a few minutes later or after the commercials it drops to SD quality and rarely ramps up again. Starting the stream again helps, but only for a short while.
As I currently don't have another H+ device to test, i was wondering if the hulu plus implementation with Chromecast is indeed flawed or if this is happening just to myself (I understand that being overseas might not help - although I'm not sure which CDN I'm getting the content from), but it's really annoying seeing all the godawful pixels on my screen constantly - the Ads... pfft, well, those are always in 720p, go figure!
Anyway, hopefully you'll be able to share your experiences with me!
Cheers, thanks.
As promised in another thread, I captured a video of the native full-screen mirroring lag.
Delay is half a second or less, video seems shows closer to quarter of second. Content doesn't seem to matter much - feels like the same delay mirroring streaming TV.
Sorry, the darn rolling shutter makes it pretty much impossible to discern the hundredths of a second, tenths are barely legible...
And please ignore the audio - my wife was wondering what I was doing... as usual.

If you want to run your own test, the timer video is from MediaCollege.com and the MP4 version should play natively without needing any conversion.

Have you tried to stream a movie or channel like from xbmc? I have a Sprint Galaxy s3 and the same router also. I have used VLC player with my movies. I have a network with 30/3 speeds.

To add more my problem is while I'm on xbmc playing a channel it will buffer and lose sound then the soundtrack will be off from video like about 5 to 10 seconds.

I don't use XBMC but I've played TV episodes from Xfinity TV Go (which doesn't support Chromecast) and haven't noticed any problems.
Since the screen mirroring traffic is also going through WiFi along with your streaming it'll take up more WiFi bandwidth so signal reception on all devices involved becomes more critical.
I tried the same with AllShare Cast (I have an AllShare Wireless Hub connected to another input on the same TV) and while yet lag is similar, I noticed that WiFi Direct seemed to limit general network traffic more. My streaming playback video would break up from time to time. No such problem with Chromecast mirroring.

my chromecast was eating dust for 1 month because my g2 have so much lag over screencast that it takes 10 sec just to navigate. pictures and videos were like crazy late.

So I got to thinking, I have the Samsung screen mirroring HDMI dongle on my home theater setup. I turned it on , mirrored the screen and put my Note in the headset. It then shows up on my 10 foot screen and I set my projector to 3d side by side and it works great. You can now have one person with the headset on doing stuff and everyone else can watch it on the big screen in 3d also
That's awesome! Wish I had the TV setup to do it. How's is a big projection screen in 3D?
Its decent mirroring quality on my 10 foot screen and in 3d just like the headset. It works great for when you have a first timer over trying it out cause you can watch what they are doing in real time, and guide them how to swipe and click on stuff or show them how to get thru the menu to try all the stuff. I have a Vivtek 3d projector that will put also put side by side image imput back together in 3d.

Can you point me to what you're exactly using? Is it this?
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-All-S...reen+mirroring+HDMI+dongle&pebp=1418645351921
Thats it. Used 50% off coupon on Samsung's site last year for it
Chromecast works too - but makes the headset stutter in the photo 360 app is vr fluid while using the allshare dongle?

stupid question time....does the mirror show as 1 image, or 2 of the same images side by side (as in 1 for each eye)?

Ive been using chrome cast just to cast the audio since the video freezes. its a simple way to feel more immersed in the VR when the headset is on. Its not perfect but it works.
I have the same exact issue. Both my Roku 3 mirroring and my Netgear ptv will not stream smoothly. It looks choppy and terrible. Does the Samsung AllShare Hub solve this problem? Does anyone know?

On Youtube, type in the search for "Gear VR / Chromecast / Screen Mirror"
It shows how to enable developer mode and an additional window to broadcast the phone screen on the Chromecast. This should work for all dongle

Thanks I found the video. It's not in English but I figured it out. Activate the dev option "Simulate secondary displays" I chose 720x480dpi secure. Now the cast doesn't lag much at all and it is easy to follow by anyone watching the TV. I read some people have projectors that can do sbs screen and cast the vrs view perfectly.
OK, need your help here, comrades. Got my hands on S6\S6 Edge version of Gear VR. But I have problems with screen mirroring. Tried:
-Pairing with Chromecast. When I use the phone only - everything works perfectly, but just as i'm plugging S6 into the helmet (or glasses, not sure how you peeps call it over here), everything works for 5 seconds, and then picture freezes (on the TV)
-Pairing with TV using WiFi Direct - doesn't seem to work at all
-Connecting via MHL (which Samsung dudes claim to be working, but it ain't)
-Sacrificing chicken, dancing around the TV, screaming "CTULHU FHTAGN!" for an entire hour (doesn't seem to work either)
An interesting symptome - phone was downloading bunch of updates, while it was - everything worked slow (I mean mirroring), with lags, but it was working. Just when everything updated... (see "pairing with Chromecast").
Any advice?
I have the same issues with my chromecast, when i had the note 4 with the gear vr it worked perfect, now i have the s6 edge with new vr headset and picture is delayed and freezes and if you play a movie on oculus cinema it just shows a blank screen on tv. This sucks because i want my five year old daughter to play and i cant direct her on what to press to watch or play games

so, i'm not the only one facing these problems? Good, together we'll find the solution. Maybe you have tried anything, that i haven't?
PWNED
Managed that bastard. Used mirrorop sender for Galaxy and mirrorop reciever for my laptop. Resolution is crappy - but at least it doesn't lag. PWNED!
As the title says, I only seem to have connectivity issues with my Galaxy Tab S8 when I'm using the youtube app. It will frequently claim connected without internet. Also that was with using an Arris G34 Gateway (modem/router in 1).
I can play Dragon Quest Tact for 3-4 hours straight or facebook or any other game really without it doing this. It seems that the second I switch to the youtube app is when it decides to do this, just got this thing about 4 days ago. My tab s6 lite, S20FE, roku streambar, xbox, alexa & lg tv do not suffer from a similar issue as this one... Is there an easy fix for this or did I just get a bad tablet?
I don't have the exact same issue, but did have for a couple of days the issue with youtube not wanting to load videos. When it eventually does, the quality is at the lowest format...changing the quality results in video not playing. I uninstalled the app, restarted the tablet, re-installed youtube and no issues so far
