Nexus 5 & Android Lollipop 5.0 = problems - LG G Watch R

Hello everyone.
I am owner of a Lg G Watch R from Wednesday and I have to say that so far I'm happy with it, but ... there's something wrong with me that has me pissed.
With my Nexus 5 and Android 5.0 Lollipop, let me reject a call, as I headed left red flag, but ... will not let me pick a call, as I did not get the green light from the right.
I've proven to restore my Nexus 5 to the factory ROM to version 4.4.2 and working properly, I updated OTA to version 4.4.3 and working properly, I updated OTA to version 4.4.4 and running, but ... if I upgrade to version 5.0 by OTA happens what I tell you up.
Have also proven rooting the phone, unlocked bootloader or not, etc ...
Anyone else have this problem? Someone knows the solution?
Thanks in advance.
Greetings.
* Sorry for my English ...
EDIT: I called the support of Google and after taking note of the problem, they told me to go to the software department has to review it and give a solution.
We keep you informed.

I am getting the same behavior with my nexus 6 and LG G Watch R.. So this looks like a software bug...

It's a Lollipop (running on the phone) vs 4.4.4 (running on the watch) incompatibility. It will be solved as soon as the watch will be upgraded to 5.0 (soon).

Webmail news:
After talking with Google and tell them the problem: I say ask for a replacement under warranty.
After speaking with LG: What to study my problem and I answered.
After speaking with mobilefun (store where I bought the watch): The Andriod Wear watches they will not have microphone to speak, the option for picking up phone calls is removed in 5.0 Lollipop.
Come on ... or Google returns you to deploy Android Wear or LG launches an update with modification, or stay as we are or asked money back.
What you think?:crying::crying::crying:

When you say "they will not have microphone to speak, the option for picking up phone calls is removed in 5.0 Lollipop"
Are you saying that having the watch on Android 4.4 and phone on Lollipo means that you cannot pick up a call AND you can no longer control the watch using voice control?

this puts me off upgrading to 5.0, I find it useful to slide to answer when connected to my in-car system because the answer button on the radio system is in an awkward place, Plus its easy to see who is calling

No.
If you have a phone with 5.0 and watch as currently this, you can hang up a call, but you can not take / pick because you only have in the watch the microphone but no speaker.
If what you say is true, as has the speaker clock, an annulled / removed in 5.0 the option of taking / picking up the call.

Blue Ant Q1 with HD2 TMO_US

Well, as the title states, Blue Ant Q1 paired with US HD2: Does it work with US HD2 as reported with other phones? The story is kinda funny and I'll tell it if asked but just main details for now.....
I was speaking with an *irrate* iPhone user who really is considering becoming an ex-iPhone user after introducing him to my HD2. He went into "research mode" and frantically tried to find shortcomings to convince me that I made a mistake in claiming the his device is no longer top dog in the world of hand held "Super Phones". In his rant, he finally had to admit, and I quote, "you're phone is the sh!t, you might make me switch...." long story short.
To his credit, I will admit, He brought up a "stumper" question that I have been trying to find the answer for. IS THERE A BT HEADSET THAT WILL ANNOUNCE INCOMING CALLS AND/OR PLAY CALLER ID RINGTONES WITH HD2 US? I had been trying to get my caller-id's to play through the headset since three phones ago. From what I have recently read, the Blue Ant Q1 announces the incoming caller's phone number in the BT and asks "would you like to answer or decline?" (or something to that degree) then waits for your response, as well as a few very useful voice commands such as "pair device" etc.......
Any one using this headset with HD2 that can shed some light?
If it matters, I am a US Tmobile customer using the new HD2
ROM ver.2.10.531.1 (82076) WWE
Radio 2.08.50.08_2
OS 5.2.21889 (21889.5.0.87)
I don't know about the Q1 but I have the Blueant V1 and the US HD2 and it announces for me. Don't see why the Q1 wouldn't either.

Thanks. I read that also, but I believe the Q1 is newer. I don't know that one is better than the other. But at least I have a confirmation from one user.....YOU.
Does it announce the number? Contact name? Caller tone?
Update, Blue Ant just released a T1 Model which looks similar to the Q1. I have only read some specs. One major difference is that it is capable of announcing caller's NAME for incoming calls. Also it touts wind noise cancellation of 20+ miles per hour. I cannot find any pricing on it nor a vendor who offers it as of yet. On their website, Blue Ant shows the V1, Q1 and T1 in this category. I'm liking the Q1 for looks, price (although pricey), function and word-of-mouth (and reviews) ratings. Any additional input will benefit other users who find product in their choices.
UPDATE:::::
Blue Ant Q1 does, in fact, announce incoming calls by phone number while the phone plays the ringer and ringer ID. I just wish it would play my ringer IDs too. But at least I have audible caller id in one form.
Love my BlueAnt Q1
I used the BlueAnt Q1 with my HD2 and my iPhone 3Gs. When I receive and incoming call it does announce the number that is calling me but not the caller name. The BlueAnt also works perfectly and with MSVC. I can easily call people without having to take the phone out of my pocket. Simply press the button and say "Phone command." It will activate the phones built in voice command. Works flawlessly. Also if you update your BlueAnt Q1 with version 8.19 you can also stream music through A2DP which also works really well and sounds better on the HD2 than my iPhone 3Gs.
Side note. I once put my BlueAnt through the washer and dried and after all of that it still works and continues to work to this day with 0 issues. The BA is by far the best Bluetooth headset I have used on a phone. I highly recommend it.

I can't seem to MSVC to work with mine. Maybe you can give some insight. Is there an instruction posted somewhere?
Latest update is 8.21; I did the update yesterday.

nice thanks for the update on the BlueAnt Q1. I will update the BlueAnt to that version and let you know if I am still able to do it. I have version 8.19 now.
Update:
No problem initiating microsoft voice command with the BlueAnt. Simply press the outside button and say "Phone command" It should tell you that it's initiating the phones built in voice command. If that doesn't work make sure the ROM you are using has it installed and enabled.

Here is a .cab file for you. credit to NRGZ28
it will install in Settings > Personal. Make sure it's enabled there and then try again.
BTW the firmware update for the Q1 signigicantly improves the sound quality on the device.

Thanks, AllTheWay, and congrats on the upgrade. It helped mine too, but it's getting tired and quirky. I'm looking forward to the release of the T1.
As it turns out, MSVC v1.6.21889 came installed in the stock ROM. I'm not sure how to use it with Q1 though. Maybe I will wait til the T1 is available since I plan on giving it a try.

Like I said pair up your Q1 with your phone. Push the outside button on the Q1. say "Phone command" and MSVC will start. You will hear a beep, then you can say "call (contact name)" or "dial (phone number). you can also say things like "what time is it" "what is my signal strength."
etc.

Well, Duh, DUH, Duh on me. I obviously can't read. When you type quotation marks around something, it does mean ........ any how, I pressed the blue ant button and was failing to say "phone command" which is the activation for MSVC, DOH!! Tweak found. Well it was me and not my device. Now the only thing I need to accomplish is getting the ringtones to play into the headset.
Thanks for clearing that part up for me.

sizzling noise while phoning

Hi,
first i had no problem when i used my HTC One mini 2. But now everybody who calls me or when i call someone else the other one has an sizzling noise and sometimes they even do not hear anything from me. But i can here them.
Someone an idea why??
My phone also has the mic problem. Seems that dual mic in this phone is faulty.
I'm waiting for software update (which should have been in August-September). If it doesn't fix the issue, than I`ll return it to service.
I asked the telekom and they told me i need to go to an store of them. But i read in the internet, that this is not only a htc bug. It seams there are some more android 4.4.2 devices (from lg) that have the same problem. Is this an hardware problem (htc), android (google), or can this also be an app??
Hi there,
i've the same bug with my phone.
It startet with the last system update and it's a terrible thing. Almost every call has this background sound or the other side can't hear anything. A small workaround wich i found is to switch to the speaker for a few seconds and then switch back to phone...
but on the next call it's starting again.
Are there any news out there that this is going to be fixed or can we do something by our selfs?
So before the system update you hadn't this problem?? That'S interesting, because in this case there is no hardware bug :victory:
So i think you all have this version:
Android 4.4.2
Sense 6.0
Software-Number: 2.16.111.3
HTC SDK API: 6.21.
Is there maybe someone who has an newer Version/older where is no sizzling noise while phoning??

Yes, i think it's an software bug because the phone was working without any problems for the first 7 days and the bug started right after the OTA update. In addition the mic is working very well in recording audio or anything else except phone calls.
I'm running this version as vodafone brand:
Android 4.4.2
Sense 6.0
Software-Number: 2.16.161.1
HTC SDK API: 6.21
I'll get an hardware exchange on thurseday. hoping to get a fully working phone ... maybe you can get this as well ?

yes i hope so. But i need to go to my Telekom Shop and i'm on hollidays next week So i have no time at the moment
==EDIT==
Try this and make Audio test. if you have the noise for this test, too it's an hardware problem and you need to contact HTC. If not it's an software problem. (Answer from HTC).

Hey,
thanks for the tip.
i've got a exchange phone on tuesday and it's working fine so far. No problems anymore and it uses the same system version. so most likely it is really an hardware fault.

i also have that on the call receiver end. its fainted but noticeable.
My first handset was like this, intermittent crackling and noise, so I sent it back. Since then I've been sent and returned 4 of handsets in total, all of the others were worse than the first!
Anyone thinking about buying a HTC One Mini 2 from o2 in Gunmetal Grey - I'm pretty sure the whole box of them is shot!

[Q] Drive not announcing incoming call but missed call

Hello,
wife's Moto X is connected to older VW bluetooth which only let's you dial through the phone or pick up incoming calls. That was the reason I got her the Moto x, so the drive assist would announce calls and she could place calls hands free. However, when a call comes in, it just rings, no announcement. When the call is not picked up, the phone then says "missed call from xxx". So drive is working somehow but not all the way. And when the "missed call from xxx" announcement is being spoken (and the screen goes black with the red microphone circle), the phone doesnt react to any voice input.
I upgrade and downgraded the assist app, didnt make any changes. I'm using the "having issues with bluetooth - other audio" option.
Any idea? Thanks a lot!
Have you been into the settings of assist and checked the boxes of the actions you want when you are driving? Also, is your GPS in high accuracy?

yes and yes. Drive assist shows up as symbol in the notification bar. And it runs because missed calls are being announced, just not incoming one's. Wife has replace the stock dialer, not sure if that makes a difference, because when I disabled it it was doing the same.
Try this: How to reset Motorola Assist
Thanks. I forgot to mention that I tried to clear cache etc. But reading through the comments from the link above, there are a lot of people having the same issue. I think I'll wait and see if the coming L update will fix things. Sounds like 4.4.4 update broke it for some. And I don't have much time fussing with the phone and car at the same time since it's not mine. But as of now, Assist seems useless and I could just use Google Now for the same functionality.

[Q] Urgent help required regarding HTC One microphone

Ok so the reason this is urgent is because i purchased a 2nd hand HTC One off of Amazon and i seem to be having issues with it's mic during calls, if the issue can not be fixed by myself then i need to ask the seller for a refund ASAP.
Today i tried calling someone only for them to tell me they can not hear me during the call, i switched to speaker mode and everything was fine.
I assumed the bottom mic was faulty so i tried recording my voice with easy voice recorder and covered the top mic on the back, i was surprised to find that the bottom mic recorded my voice with no issues and it was ust as loud as my moto g which has zero problems with calls (the htc one was clearer).
I have done a search and it seems quite a few people have this issue but it's usually a busted mic, surely that can't be the case with mine or could it? I have tried cleaning it out with a toothbrush bristle.
It's fully stock unrooted and on android 4.4.3, i have done a factory reset 3 times already

I just tried it and i think it made a difference, it's too late/early here to call anyone so i tried calling my moto g and while i can hear my voice on my moto g it is still very quite and muffled if i hold it normally next to my ear, if i speak right in front of the bottom mic it picks up sound loud and good.
Anything else i can try now other than having to return the phone back to the seller? Reviews say the call quality is great but right now my moto g is at least 5x better call quality wise

When did they push it out? I'm running the latest software according to my phone and the issue persists. I didn't think to try calling before updating from 4.3 Jellybean so no idea if it's just an issue with the latest software or a deeper issue with the phone

I spoke to HTC and they made me run the mic diagnostic test and they told me it's unlikely a hardware issue as it works fine in other scenarios (like you my mic works everywhere but in calls).
It's shocking that HTC would allow their software to cripple the phone's call quality, I'm on 4.4.3 software number 6.16.61.8 and my phone is saying I'm already running the latest update. I'm not sure how long this version has been out and why HTC haven't fixed it yet, they were my favourite phone manufacturer (started off my smartphone experience on htc phones) but after owning the One I'm not sure if i can say that they are anymore.

Did you guys even bother searching the forum? This has been covered tons of times.
As for your device saying it is up to date, that depends on the carrier. Not all carriers push updates as fast as others.

I searched this forum and many others and you're right, this topic has been covered hundreds if not thousands of times and the usual answer is get your phone replaced. If there is nothing physically wrong with the phone then a replacement will most likely not fix the issue either.
The other causes and fixes i have seen are dusty mic-already cleaned them, factory reset-done more than once, blow in sim tray-done, turn off voice privacy - don't even have that option, root then tweak build prop-dont want to risk losing the warranty plus i can't imagine HTC forcing their customers to root their phone in order to be heard on the phone.
People have been reporting the issue as early as a year or so ago, surely software updates should have fixed it by now? You've got a point with carriers not pushing updates as fast as others so let me know what version the fix is in so i know if it's later/earlier than the one i have. If you know of a method i haven't yet seen then please let me know or just send me a link to that thread, thanks.

I tried that method after i was advised to do so at the beginning of this thread, i didn't wipe cache/dalvik though so will try that now.
The OP's issue is a little different from mine, he couldn't hear other's as well as other's not being able to hear him, in my case however i can hear others perfectly but they can't hear me to well unless i point the botton mic right in front of my mouth and talk in to it. I suspect it's due to the noise cancellation being way too aggressive as covering the back mic helps a lot.
Any idea on the software number which HTC pushed out the fix with or is it on that same thread?

I couldn't find that much in the dev section so i turned to Google and yeah like you said there is a known issue with calls which HTC promised to fix ASAP last month, however It seems that the issue reported is that the caller (calling from m7) can't hear the other party and the other party can't hear them which sound's different from my issue.
I found the version with the supposed fix and it's 6.10.531.10, my one is running on 6.16.61.8. I'm guessing mine is actually running an even later version? If that's the case then it sound's like I'm screwed

Odd that your is newer then the official released build. Something sound really odd about that. Wish I could help more. I would try and see if anyone posted just the fix that was included. I know some had a files that could be flashed. You could always try running gpe and see if that fixes it. But you will lose sense

I'm going to call HTC again tomorrow and ask them what the newest version available in UK is, they didn't ask for the software number when i called earlier they just told me to check if any later one is available to download.
I would love to run GPE on my One, i thought i would like the new version of sense (haven't had an HTC phone since my desire) but i really do prefer stock Google rom especially if sense will have issues like the one I'm having now but i don't want to risk losing my warranty or mess anything up especially at this stage, once I'm certain the hardware is 100% fine then i will probably unlock bootloader and flash a custom rom.

I had the same problem that popped up three weeks ago along with many customers due to the before recent OTA upgrade
Tried to delete/erase cache/disable etc... Google frameworks services, and HTC speak services.
Tried factory reset a few times etc.... NOTHING I found as a solution online worked.
I waited for HTC second update for the OTA. Tried downloading it more than ten times.
Once after a factory reset, once after disabling google framework services, once after disabling htc services, once after disabling all, once in safe mode (disabling all apps),once after removing the last five apps i downloaded when the issue happened....nothing worked.
When I install the update, it goes to around 30% and a red exclamation point appears. the install stalls and it reboots with the old firmware and the problem stays (cant hear the caller, they cant hear me).
During install and stalling I pressed the power button and down volume, the error messages appeared:
HTCspeaklite.apk files are not recognized (or something like that). So the app is corrupted! and the installation files don't recognize it to update it. Installation stalls and reboots.
I searched for the stock htcspeaklite.apk zip file, rooted my phone and tried pushing it over the stock files.
When I booted the phone, it kept rebooting in a loop. Did not work!!
That's when what I had left: I erased everything and installed a custom rom (you can re install a stock rom if you prefer) on my phone.
Now everything works great except for the bluetooth pairing. So I may re install another rom soon.

Can I do call recording on the Pixel 4 XL?

Can I do call recording on the Pixel 4 XL? I currently have a Samsung Note 9 SM-N960U1, the first non-rooted phone I've ever had. I love the phone except I have to hide it from upgrades and the Playstore or I will lose my call recording which I depend on. I have a friend who is looking for a phone and also needs to do call recording and I'd like to get him something he doesn't have to jump through hoops with to maintain call recording like I have to.
Thanks!
With a stock Pixel 4 ther is no recording that I'm aware of. Maybe third party apps can do this..

- Everything worked flawlessly for years with 3rd Party apps like ACR. Accountants, attorneys, IT people, and anyone who charges for support time used it for documentation and billing.
- Android 9 made call recordings very poor quality, so people reverted to 8.1 but then providers clandestinely did force upgrades to get them on a new boot loader so they can't go back. Users flashed the generic and then turned things off that you cannot with any of the vendor firmware with ADB and did APKs through APK pure instead of the playstore. They announced that they were going to kill call recording altogether in Android 10.
- March of 2019 the Playstore rolled out an update that destroyed the ability of any app to integrate with contacts and history. The world went nuts talking about law suits, etc. They tried sneaking things in through Wi-Fi so users stopped using it to preserve their call recording.
- OnePlus, Xiaomi, and Huawei make sure to include this feature on their build of Android, it is not available on stock Android.
- Now Android 10 comes out and says it added call recording back. What I don't know is if this enables it to work again with 3rd party apps, only on Exynos, only on... etc. Since this phone doesn't have a locked boot loader and can be rooted, that helps, but it's too new to be able to go back to Android 8.1. So what I'm wondering is if people here have call recording working with the Pixel 4 XL. Maybe I just need to get a OnePlus, Xiaomi, or Huawei.
Call recording works perfectly with root but I'm not entirely sure about stock. I use call recorder by skvalex. I haven't looked at the thread lately but I seem to remember that his app did work on stock. I think the recording quality might be reduced though. Here is a link to his thread if you want to check it out. It comes with a free trial and then there is a one time purchase to continue use. I've been using it for years and highly recommend it.

That's what I need to hear. I love my Samsung Note, but before I steer someone else to one and the misery the Playstore and Samsung and Android have caused me, I'd rather give him a better option. The Note 9 is my first phone without root and it has been misery. It has been nothing but sneak attacks by Verizon and the playstore, etc.
As of now I'm happy with the Pixel phones as I was with the Nexus line before that. I used to just get my phone from my carrier (Verizon) before I switched to Google Fi. At that time I always bought the latest Samsung device and jumped through hoops to get root. Root is easy to get and maintain now. I might not always buy a Google device but I will always buy from an OEM that allows bootloader to be unlocked.
>but I will always buy from an OEM that allows bootloader to be unlocked<
Those are wise words. I regret buying the SM-N960U instead of the SM-N9600, and I could use the second SIM. I wanted Samsung Pay for traveling. It was totally not worth it. Because the Note 9 could do what I wanted at the time I figured I didn't need it anymore. Shortly thereafter, the unholy trinity (Android, Verizon, and Google Play Store) sabotaged our phones. I flashed them with the U1 firmware so I could shut things off. We did not use Wi-Fi, turned off all updates from the play store, and all security updates on the phone with ODIN. APKs were from versions prior to March, 2019/911. One day I was the one who connected my phone to a USB port on a computer with Internet access by accident. Within seconds I received a message my phone had been updated. They sabotaged it again. Call recording still works, but they destroyed the audio on the camera and voice recorder we use to take notes at meetings, and screwed up my VOIP calling. Now I must re-flash it and set it up again. We need is good call recording. For us, call recording is our note taker, documents conversations for invoicing detail and time, and allows us to not write and drive at the same time. It integrates with CRM so we can check previous conversations, and voice-to-text. It has enabled us to collect several double-digit 10s of thousands of dollars owed to us to enforce contracts. In 2019 they destroyed even the history, which we had to recover and manually re-index. The update I just got? Most likely spyware. Now it says my phone is in a call when it isn't. Only 15 out of 50 states still require two-party consent, and after recent court cases, effectively 13. Their security updates are far more likely for THEIR security, not mine. They record ALL of your conversations, not just meta data, leaving them the only ones privy to them. The reason I know is they tried to hire me in the late 90's, prior to 911, to do precisely that. That begs the question, do you trust the caretakers of the information? So another reason to record your calls is to have the ability to prepare a proper defense should the need arise. Now a relative is going into business and sees the value of recording his calls. He likes what we have, but we don't, and after what just happened, I'm assembling options for him and us.
