[Q] Flashed lollipop from source no gapps - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I got my nexux 6 a few days ago from att. I have since compiled lollipop from source and flashed it on my device forgetting it does not have gapps. I am trying to figure out what I need to do to install gapps onto the nexus 6. I have tried to factory image but that did not install it either. Can anyone point me to how to install gapps?

You have to find Lollipop Gapps and then flash them. You can find them on the internet.

[Q] After Updating ROM, what about Gapps

Hi there
Using the GT-I9000 with Android 4.4.4. (cyanogenmod Version 11-20140916 Snapshot M10 galaxysmtd, Baseband I9000XXJVT.
By the way: I'm an absolute Beginner using custom ROMS...
Right after this actually downloaded update, i have to (re)install gapps, i think. But it is not clear to me, how to act correctly. May I use the last gapps.zip published for 4.4.4, which was downloaded and installed before (pa_gapps-modular-mini-4.4.4-20140901-signed.zip)
or is it necessary to find a new Version for gapps?
If so: what is the easiest way to find a properly Version of gapps
Thanks a lot for your help
as long as the gapps package is compatible with the rom its okay to reinstall

[Q] official cm12 nightlies have popped up for the vs980, anyone try this yet?

So I have noticed in the last two days or so that some official nightlies for CM12, anyone try this yet? Anyone have any good instructions to follow for someone using cm11?
both failed when trying to flash
hopefully @JackpotClavin can get us a working build
Are they jb or lollipop based?
Have to be on 12b bootstack. Boots fine. Just finished booting about 5 minutes ago, so haven't tested much

12b bootstack is what you would be on if you were on official cm11 right?

I believe so
Do I need to flash a different gapps version first?
You need GAPPS for 5.0. Different than cm11.
ok, just want to make sure i have the process down, I flash this new nightly, and then the new gapps? Also how is the rom working so far
Seems okay to me. I haven't tried the GPS or Bluetooth. Haven't done anything but SMS and MMS so far.

Gapps 5.0? not 5.1? I was going to download gapps fromt this thread
CM12 is 5.0.2. The nightlies aren't cm12.1, which is 5.1.1
Another dumb question. I have CWM recovery installed, is that good or should I have TWRP? Thanks in advance.
another nightly jumped on, somebody tried this new update? How cyanogen is working now that is official?
Yeah i wish we had more comments on how it is working so far, this is my only phone and don't want to brick it or be out of commission for too long of a time

Stock gapps for aosip?

Aosip is my favourite ROM but I can't figure out how to get the stock gapps working as with stock. For example the caller I'd or business search on the dialer.
I tried the PA gapps stock version but it still didn't work. Any ideas? I've been searching around for an answer for days.

stock stuff works only on stock, it looks as the rom is aosp based. stock and aosp are not the same, they are different roms.
Oh darn. Now I need to contemplate whether or not to go back to stock. Thanks for your help! I thought there might be a workaround though. :/

not that i know of, sorry
The dialer is not part of gapps. You can try and rip the stock dialer out. That used to work on kitkat..otherwise grab the slim roms dialer
For anyone still curious, I finally found a fix at this thread!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/themes-apps/request-google-dialer-2-1-t3097787
Its a flash able zip via recovery. It's the stock dialer.

I gave you the fix already. You just found a vehicle to implement the fix I already told you about.

After flashing CM 12.1 with TWRP recovery, it gave me an error.

So.... 2 months ago I tried to flash CM 12.1 on my phone (S III mini). I looked in the tutorial and do the same things, but when i flashed CM 12.1 ( not Gapps ), it gives me an error. I was really scared and then I tried to reboot my device, but it said "No OS installed." So then I realised I deleted my OS. But I went to samsung service and they fixed my phone ( maybe they flashed original android). Please help me!!! I want to try to install second time CM on my phone, but i'm really scared. I dont know what it can cause that error and how to prevent that error in the future. ( i had root on my device)

I hope you can help me.
I flashed TWRP Recovery and successfully rooted S3 mini.
Now I have cm 12.1 .zip and Gapps for Marshmallow on my PC.
Am so confused about Gapps.
What if I flashed Gapps for marshmallow along with cm 12.1 ?

The best is to install the cm12.1 gapps because maybe you will have an error if you install the M gapps..
If you want try it you can be lucky but don't play with fire every time

Well, i think that this should be more appropriate on my thread which i explain also how to install gapps, but anyway.
At any given time, you can flash ONLY the same gapps with your rom's android version. I think this has something to do with ART.

It means that I have to choose appropriate Gapps based on the Android version of custom ROM.
If it's cm12.1 , I have to flash Gapps L 5.1.x.
Okay, anyway I have to update the App after installation. Then why not to flash the updated Gapps for any custom version?
I'm New to this world of custom, so only much confusions and questions.
Thanks

How to replace gapps

How do you replace the gapps on stock cellular south MM ROM? I installed the latest ROM and TWRP via Odin and now want to flash the open Gapps Pico version. What do I need to wipe before flashing the zip? Or will the open Gapps Pico even work on the stock ROM?

Google apps are in the original ROM. No need to flash anything.

What part of "I don't like the stock Gapps!" don't you get? Of course the stock ROM has A version of Gapps, but NOT the one I wan't. The stock version is so bloated, I don't see how anyone would like it.

If you don't like then then use titanium backup to remove them or remove them from the zip before flashing them. What I'm saying is the Google spoofs are in the ROM by default. Those are the only two ways of removing them I know if. Flashing a different GAPPS won't remove anything from the ROM.

So I guess you assumed that the fact that I wanted to replace it meant that I was happy with it?
edit: And the POINT of editing my post is to clarify my meaning. And although no one is obliged to offer help, making snide remarks isn't required either.
This thread appears to be causing some confusion and some ire...
