Gamma Control - Xperia Z1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can please dev take a look on this kernel. -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z/orig-development/aroma-xzkernel-24-gammacontrol-t2409003
Is it possible to port a kernel? Or add its features to the Z1 kernel? I really want the gamma feature as lots of users want it too but does Z1 panel supports gamma control? If it does why devs didn't add it already?
Any answers will be appreciated. Thanks XDA

Not possible

many devs have tried to enable gamma control on their kernel...but in the moment it is impossible ...doomlord tried it...fxhaxxor tried it...they are two of the biggest devs on z1 kernel community but nobody of them was able to add gamma control in their kernel

So if they tried its not hardware limitaton, then Sony have to implement in their updates and add to kernel sources. Maybe Sony would add in the official Lollipop update.
Thanks for taking your time to answer my questions.

I asked for help to @frapeti and @Paul L.
I know it's an important bug, but your question is like asking for ETA. You should wait or try to fix it by yourself.
You'll know when it's fixed.
Ask @Rox too
Does this ROM have low incall volume bug? (low incall volume + when you press volume down, it increases call volume) In CM11 this issue appears and it seem RR ROM uses same device sources.
And battery life? Is good or drain fast?

Yes, I couldn't test before. I'll update the bugs lists in OP.
If it's present in CM11 I can't do anything because, as you said, I use those sources.

Battery is something personal, for me is the same as in other KK ROM's. You should test by yourself.

Hm, bad so
Someone explain please
How is possible this rom to be official?
This is compiled from t4n017 and based on CM11 by TC and not compiled by original RR devs.

I'm part of RR Team as an official maintainer of the ROM for janice.
Plus, we have OTA support now.
That's why it's declared as OFFICIAL.
Ah thanks for the answer.l
Last question, why then RR team build the rom from scratch for our device instead of that this rom is based on TC CM11.

Maybe you should learn a little bit more about sources, specially open sources.
It's not "based on CM11", but it uses device tree forked from TC repo.
Why build from scratch when we already have public sources? And, anyway, that should be made by RR devs (which I don't think possible as it will requiere lot of time, and they don't even have the phone).
I didn't know the things very well. Thanks.

I'm trying a little more before returning JB because it is a great ROM. The only issue I have at the moment is INCALL VOL.
And Battery drain is higher than JB STOCK + Cocore 8.2.
My question right now is: camera. Quality of the photos is not good. Mainly Macros.
Videos untested.
Any suggestions to replace? Something closer to Stock CAM?
Or any tip for the cam in RR?
Thanks

I'll try to fix low incall volume bug. For the time being, you could try CM Utility app by @BMARo to fix low incall volume bug.

Have a look in the original android development section for a different kernel, make sure you read the notes and the op post first to see if CM is supported, so many people don't and then wonder why their phone bricks.
Anything that says its a sense and GPE kernel wont work on CM.

Can anything be done on our end to increase touch sensitivity since you say you haven't incorporated glove mode in this ROM?
Is there a way I can replace just the recovery from a kernel? Can I replace the recovery on yours with one from a different kernel based on the same firmware? E.g the TWRP from the Williams kernel, a kernel which is compatible with your ROM or any other compatible kernel for that matter. Is it doable or do the two go hand in hand? Relatively easy or highly difficult?
Thanks.

u can flash whatever custom kernel wich is made for CM purposes.
i didn't know twrp was working huashan (i mean for cm roms, its not the same for stock roms)
there's an app for glove mode if im not mistaken
And sorry but for now nothing can be done on my side.

You misunderstand me...I don't want to flash a different kernel. Your kernel's great as it is. I tried William's kernel but I flashed yours back since the performance with your kernel was much better even without any OC. What I wanted to know was whether I could switch the CWM in yours with a TWRP or Philz. Just the recovery. Actually it was more of a general question. Normally can it be done and if so how does one go about doing it? Hope I am clear enough with my questions this time around.
Tried Galaxy S4 Glove Mode but the buttons to enable glove mode are greyed out since the kernel doesn't support it. Remember reading something about a line of code that needs to be set to yes to enable glove mode. So unless its set at kernel level, external apps won't work right? Isn't it similar to something like SetCPU or Trickster mod being pointless for overclocking unless the kernel has overclocking capabilities?
No worries man. Still a sweet ROM and I appreciate your reply. Like I said, just a tiny, tiny fly in an otherwise great ointment.
Im not sure abt it, i saw some pple said glove mode was working with app...anyways try others and see...
About recovery, u maybe have to investigate how to flash twrp on fota partition.

Question about reliability
Hello,
I'm a user who want to find reliable rom for my phone xperia sp.
The stock rom is weak with lag and bugs...
When i'm searching on xda, there is a lot of rom but which the best ?
I don't want 5.1 because i don't want new features. I just want a rom that works.
So i have one question :
Do this rom works perfectly for daily use ?
No bugs, no lags, smooth, less battery consumption
Good wifi signal reception ?

Firtecy Kernel #6
Hello,
I would like to know if there is any chance of Firtecy Kernel #6 because it was mentioned some months ago that it is in test phase.
Could you please tell me more about the progress of the Firtecy Kernel #6?
Thanks Firtecy!
I'm not an advanced user so don't mess around will kernel settings. Will the default settings in your kernel give compatible ROMs better performance over Kowalski's older kernel?

It seems to me that this thread is dead. Maybe, no one knows.
Anyway, if you want to know which kernel is the best one, you must try all of them. I have already tried m1 and 3.1 and in my humble opinion I think that the m1 is much better.
But if you are talking about the "default" 3.1 exp. kernel by Kowalski and modified 3.1 Kowalski kernel by Firtecy there are significant improvements in Firtecy version of that kernel. It has got better performance and more options to "customize" the kernel.
I would recommend you to test this kernel for a week and you will see if it fulfills your requirements or not. Also do not forget to read the whole discussion thread where are mentioned some tweaks and optional settings.

Hey, thanks for the reply!
I think I'll try Firtecy's latest with the 32MB ramhack next time and check out the thread for tweaks like you said. Seems like it was last updated August 2014 while Kowalski's was last updated end of January 2014.
I do like the M1 and lots of people say it's better. I recently discovered that Google Play Music works on 3.1 though, and it barely works on M1 at all. That was the final thing that made me decide on 3.1 going forward. I don't think I've ever got wifi tether to work on 3.1 though, so I'll miss that.
adbd + TCP congestion-avoidance algorithm
would be nice if it is natively activated (app works fine)
or "on/off" in Kernel Control?!
adbd Insecure - >
Code:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1687590
need it for AndroidCommander on PC, it it is a nice android file manager for Windows with root access
And it would be nice if you insert an option in your Kernel Control for
"TCP congestion-avoidance algorithm"
Code:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TCP_congestion-avoidance_algorithm
or push you Wlan-Max function to "Kernel Adiutor by Grarak"

Hi Pizza_Dox,
One more kernel for our lovely moto g. ^^
I hope you will go on with your work like that.
The kernel is working pretty well but i would like to have more CPU-govenours and I/O-Shedulers to choose from. Will you add some more in the next time?
@Pizza_Dox
Which app should I use for tweaking your kernel? At the moment I use Kernel toolkit, which force closes now and then. Can you recommend an app?

Yup, thats right. The zRam disable gives me more free ram. Nice work. ^^
I still have a question, i hope i dont bother you with all my questions.
Do i have to enable "intelliplug" and "power-suspend" by my self, or is it enabled by default?
If not, where can I enable those two in kernel auditor?
Thanks answering my questions.
edit:
i found it in the r11 kernel.
Diamond pls. Does this support thea?
