Wanted to see if anyone elses' X does this.
Go into a dark/pitch black room.
Face down your phone and pick it up / get the AN to trigger.
Watch your screen after the AN fades out.
Does your whole screen go through a wavy/flicker effect? Lasts about 1 second. Looks slightly grey/brownish. Not so noticeable when it's bright out.
I have noticed this. I wanted to see if the active notification pixels were the only ones lighting up and I think they are. However, there is that brief moment that the whole screen is emitting enough light to be noticeable.
Ya I have noticed this too but only in very dark rooms. I'm not to worried; battery life is great for my usage.

I've got the exact same problem, but its only noticiable in very dark rooms, but still it sucks.
I have find this app, it's the same as Motos Active Screen, but it doesn't flicker for me.

You will need the paid version to get all options though.

That app may chew through your battery possibly, unlike moto's active display.
Just a heads up. ?
Love this phone so far but one minor complaint is there is no LED for notifications I miss that coming from my S4! I also wish I could rearrange some of the things in the drop down menu but that's minor.
When will we have root access!!!

You can use the camera flash as a LED notification light. Just have to download a app from the play store

nope, it just notifies you via the screen blinking showing you got notifications (forgot the name of this feature)
the same as moto X
I will be getting my turbo this afternoon. I'm also coming from a rooted s4 where I used titanium backup for my backup. I am sure going to miss being rooted ?.
Did you do anything to restore things, especially things from titanium backup, since I can't use tibu with the turbo? A little apprehensive here.
I will be getting the red 32 gb turbo (black one was unavailable on Verizon's website).
I'm hoping the change over goes smoothly.
Kinda sucks there's no LED but what are you gonna do. Its a trade off. When I got my this phone I just downloaded all the apps I had again can't do much with tibu without root access.

I'm a big fan of led notification but I'm not missing it that much with this screen notification feature...
the screen turns on every few seconds and you can see by the icon what kind of notification it is, pretty simple
The LED would be pretty redundant with Moto Display.
I came from the S4 too and I don't miss the LED notification one bit. I love the Moto Display.
I'm trying out the moto display now. Its actually pretty sweet!

Helium works. Just install it in your S4 and backup...
Then run it in the Turbo and you can restore your apps.
Just a reminder, most people had to manually set the device as Mot Composite USB in the device manager menu.
Let me know if it worked for you!
Alex, thx, for your response. I actually got my turbo yesterday afternoon. After signing into it, I just let Google do its thing. It downloaded most of my apps (took 2 or 3 hours), but, wasn't too bad.
I am enjoying playing with the phone and trying to learn how to use it. One thing I really miss about root is not having a good ad blocker (I used MOAB). Do you happen to know of any good non root ad blockers? Haven't googled, yet.

I tried using AdBlock Plus but it didn't work, however a Turbo user said it was working for him in another thread.
Helium can restore the appdata that Google might not be able.
A lot of games still don't cloud backup your saves, for example...

Nothing like this on the Turbo, right?
I dl'd Adblock+. It does not seem to have done too much for the little I have checked so far. I will continue to look. Thx, alex.

That is what i was hoping for. Even the moto x has it....maybe if we get root we can see if theres any hidden LEDs. Hopefully *crosses fingers*
I believe there is some sort of LED
So I let my DT die night before last and plugged it into the charger.
Low and behold, to the left of the front camera was a green LED in a vertical orientation. When the phone received enough of a charge, this light disappeared and the normal battery charging screen came up.
So maybe there is some LED action here ? I read somewhere else that the MOTO X also has/had a hidden LED.

Interesting...I let my Turbo die before and no LED ever shone on mine. I might have to try it again and see if it comes on. From everything I've read, the X has an LED as well, but people have only gotten it to shine through the bootloader and stuff.
I have auto brightness turned off. The screen looks great when I wake the phone up, but if it's a sunny day and I wake it up the screen comes on strong and then immediately dims. I only see this happen when it's sunny. Am I missing a setting somewhere?
Thanks.

try using lux for me it's too bright at night time burns my eye
I noticed this too, also is to bright at night if i am reading in bed
The brightness isn't the issue for me... The issue is the noticeable dimming in direct sunlight.
Again, I do not have auto-brightness turned on yet I still experience noticeable screen dimming in sunlight.
Anyone have any idea why it might be doing this?

The screen dims by itself when you're using manual brightness?

Yes it does.
Glad to see this thread. I only noticed it once but I thought I was imagining it. Yeah it drops the brightness off by a decent margin which makes no sense. For me, it's still usable in sunlight but the full brightness would be better. I have auto brightness turned off as well as attentive display. Dunno what it is.

Yes. Give it a try and you'll see. It's really weird and it doesn't make any sense because it should be just the opposite of anything. But since I have it set to manual brightness it shouldn't do anything at all. Go figure...

Thanks for validating my observation. I thought I was imagining it as well the first 5 or so times that it happened.

AHAHAHA yay!
it happens to me too!
i had a Moto Maxx, Intl version of Droid Turbo!!
it happens exacly the same!!
went at store, got another one, but it has the same behavior...
contacted Motorola...
they called me and told me that isnt not an issue, its a feature!! hahaha
i hope Lollipop solve that....
A feature? Lol. I had it happen too and thought I was seeing things.
I was actually surprised that I couldn't find any mention of this "feature" here on XDA or even through a Google search. I think everyone was thinking that they must be imagining it. LOL!

i could "turn it off" putting my fingers in sensors at sunlight...and then, nothin happens....
of course its something that has to do with sensors...
but, really dunno if is a feature or a bug...haha
No doubt it is a bug... Cause it makes absolutely no sense.

Here have that too, its a lillte bug of software, its a first build so hopes fix soon.

Question is, is Motorola even aware of it? And where would I report it?

After the .44.8 update, I have not had my phone dim back down in direct sunlight. I am still trying to replicate it though. I have my fingers crossed.

Thanks, I haven't checked. Based on others' recommendations I downloaded Lux from the market and I am extremely happy with the feature set. After playing with it for a bit I immediately purchased the full version to support the dev. I'm impressed!
I'm down! Mine does it too. 21.21.12 holdout also. "Lux pro" works great.
I purchased a new moto g2 last week and when i close a app which i use for over 10 mins the background becomes completely black for a few seconds and it lags a bit.
Is this normal? Any 1 else facing the same problem?
Any solution apart from the update, as we have not received it yet.
Thanx in advance.
Hi,
I will have your thread moved to your device section. You will need to register on XDA to respond to anyone.
Good luck!
Hi, I know that some of you have used the Moto X 2014 Moto feature and you missed the good 'ol Moto display, wave your hand and stuffs and you want Moto X play to be the same.
Now I've been using this app ever since it released the first version (1.0) on my Sony X8 and Sony C2305, I'm still using it now and it works like 95% of the times.
