I have updated to miui 6 and I want to root my phone and install a recovery. Is it safe to use the root procedure provided in general section? Can I safely flash the custok recovery? Sorry for a noob question.

a simple root methode

Hello,
I am new in this forum.
I have bought a Note and updated to ICS.
Now I want to have Root + safe kernel.
What is the easiest and save way to get Root + safe kernel ?
I was reading in this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1329360
but I am not sure if I can use the option 1.
Greetings from germany
Yes you can surely go for it buddy

2nd method in the first post is the easiest way to get rooted and safe kernel
Simply flash a safe kernel(like hydracore) and you will be automatically rooted
Use triangle away app to clear flash counter

you can flash official ICS with SmartFlash Tool, the thread is stickied in general, and you can get the KDZ from here http://lg-phone-firmware.com/index.php?id_mod=1 (any 30b will work thou I suggest EU OPEN) extract the bin and fls with LGEExtract (this one is in android development).
after you've extracted the bin and fls files you must procceed to flash thru Smart flash tool.

May I ask some question regarding rooting and flashing rom using SFT?
Will all of the data in my phone will be wiped if I were using SFT to root my phone?
So as for upgrading or downgrading your current rom, will this may loss all of the data on my phone as well?
If so, is there are any method that can backup the data in my phone before I am going to root my phone using SFT?

Yes. All data will be wiped no matter what.
About backing up, there are many 3rd party apps for it. Just that apps might not be backed up
And
Yes. SFT can root it by using a patched bin.

To backup contacts I use Google, SMS backup&restore and call backup&restore both are available in the playstore for apps I just start fresh and install them as I see fit, some from play store and some thru titanium backup.

You can try some kernel which works with froyo rom.. you want an untethered method so it needs to be a flashable zip or you can use kernel flasher app for galaxy s and use .tar kernel file to flash the custom kernel.. this will root your device.

This is a very old method.. What I'll suggest is going to darkyrom.com and get the 10.2 Resurrection Odin version.. Flash that and you'll have a rooted GB ROM.. Then you can flash CM 10.1 from recovery

once rooted you can use rom manager to flash CWM recovery.. it'll download and flash it.. no need to use odin .. and also once you are rooted you can use mobile odin too (though its paid I think.. rom manager free version comes which will do the work).

Mobile Odin pro is for $5. Free version doesn't preserve root.
I will hopefully try your suggestion.

[Q] Installing JellyMod

I apologies If I'm posting in the wrong section, I literally just signed up. I've rooted my device and have got the jellymod file downloaded, however I've looked at some tutorials (couldn't find one specifically for I9070) and they say to use ROM manager with clockwork mod however it seems my model isn't supported so I'm quite stuck, help please!

Do NOT use rom manager...can result in a brick. After you've rooted, install a custom kernel with custom recovery and then just flash the jellymod using custom recovery after placing it in the ext sd card..
Follow this guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2198341
Hope that helps..

Go with CoCore..the same which is in the guide.. i believe that is 5.0 version.. you can update it later to 5.6 or 6.0 if you want to..
Edit- the link is to the main cocore thread.. so you can go ahead and install the latest i.e 6.0 with either twrp or cwm recovery..

[Q] Replace CWM with TWRP

Dear all,
I'm planning to flash CM 11 ROM by Mclaw in the near future. Since Mclaw recommended flashing using TWRP, I have to replace CWM on my stock rooted SGS3 mini. I've searched entire therads for this topic, some said I had to flash TWRP through fastboot (what is fastboot anyway?), and some said that just flashed TWRP using CWM. It will replace CWM with TWRP. All of those methods are meant to be for different device.
Anyone can confirm one of those methods for SGS3 mini? Or is there another method that noob friendly? I'm just too newbie and afraid to bricking my phone. Thanks.
You don't necessarily need TWRP. I can successfully flash that with CWM.

Really? I just want to minimize the risks, since Mclaw studio won't responsible for bricking my phone . Anyone can help me finding the easiest way?

I'm serious. You can just flash it using CWM without problems. The methods and results are practically the same.
Anyway, the easiest way to flash a new recovery is by using ROM Manager from the Play Store.

Just download the zip file for twrp from maclaw's site and flash that zip with your current recovery..
OK, guys. Thanks for the answers. I'll try and see if it works.

you should flash a custom ROM, a custom Kernel, a custom recover.....and after that, reboot to the new recovery and you´ll enjoy it

Hi guys.
I flashed one recovery using another recovery *dozens* of times on other devices (mostly on the galaxy gio) and now I flashed Maclaw's TWRP using CWM on an I8190n and everything is working perfectly.
