hi mate. we are on the same issues here. my rooting status is unknown too. some of the devs of xda tried to helped me and we cant fix it. He told me that maybe we are facing this issues is because our bootloader is damaged. and the only solution is go to the sony center and replace your phone to a new one.

Does TWRP backup includes TA backup???

Actually my phone runs 5.0.2 Pure X V3.1 and in service menu > configuration all errors (SIM, bootloader, rooting status, etc.,)
I've locked BL. It isn't a problem, 'cause going to pure stock ROM solves everything (should)

Reboot recovery, select backup and hit restore...
Basic beginners knowledge..
I suggest bring your phone to Sony service center and never touch anything unless you want to spend money on new phone everytime

atm I'm on a ics stock one with stock kernel and non rooted, when that happened I had xperiment 2.5, it was rooted and I had a stock kernel .140 iirc.
I don't remember what I did, maybe once I've removed sim card, another thing I've done is restore drm keys.

restore drm keys? yoe mean you have unlocked the bootloader and then relocked by restoring your TA?
I suggest if you have relocked your bootloader just use PCCompanion to repair your phone.
I've tried to repair via pcc, It didn't fix those reboots, I think it's the sim the problem. WIthout the sim looks like it doesn't reboot, tomorrow I'll buy a new sim, hope it's gonna fix that ****.

[Q] Unlocked Bootloader, Unrooted OTA Update?

Heyy guys I have a XperiaSP which have unlocked bootloader and unrooted phone (just unrooted it a while ago). I would REALLY like to update my phone because there's too many bug here on Xperia SP. However, when the phone was still rooted I tried to update and it failed. Now after unroot I was going to update but then the fact that I unlocked the bootloader I am really worried about wiping/bricking the phone through OTA update. Any help pls?
P.S - My phone is barely Unlocked. It is nearly as stock and no custom recovery nor root is installed.
Edit : By the way, is the Xperia SP really got Wi-Fi issues? My iPod got full signal on home's wifi and my SP got barely 1-2..
hmmm

Ahh yeah gonna try that ASAP. but I just forgot to mention that my primary laptop is now on service center (Got a bit problem there) so I can't really update my SP through that.
I tried updating just now through OTA. After the reboot a popup message appeared :
"Could not install new software version. Try again."
Is that because of my unlocked bootloader? Cos I unrooted my phone completely through SuperSU.
If so how to relock the bootloader??
If you want to relock the bootloader just use FlashTool. In your case because you don't have any custom Firmware on your phone this should be quite easy.
But I always thought when updating with having root access you can update but lose root. Maybe it didn't work (the update) because of a complete diffenent reason. Did you try it a second time?

When I got my laptop back, I'm definitely going to relock the bootloader. But if I do something wrong, will it hard brick or something? (sorry for my parranoidness) and relocking is not much difference from unlocking right?
I tried installing the software update the second time. Unlocked BL, fully unrooted (No Super SU). Still fails gonna try at PCCompanion

You should flash stock ROM using flashtool, relock the bootloader, and then restore the TA partition

I'm on my stock ROM now (Default Sony ROM right? But I've updated it before, does it count as stock?)
What's TA partition?
Sorry for noob Qs
I never do this before. So can I update my phone via pc companion via unlocked bootloader? On stock rom without root and recovery?

If you didn't flash anything on your device you can relock your bootloader without any problems. If you had a custom recovery, kernel or ROM and you relock your bootloader while having this custom recovery, kernel or ROM this should brick your phone (I think this could even be a hard brick) but if everything is stock (like I already said) there shouldn't be any problems with relocking
TA partition contains the working bravia engine (2) which gets lost if you unlock bootloader. If you had made a backup of the TA partition you could restore this and get the bravia engine back

if i didnt make backup (because no one told me to ) i cant install 4.3 update from Sony if comes out ?
Yes, you'll be able to get the 4.3 update without the TA partition. But, as everyone else here said, make sure you're on a stock ROM, with a locked bootloader.
Locked bootloader ----> You can use PC Companion or Flashtool to update your phone
Unlocked bootloader ------> Flashtool only
Also, don't try to update your phone via OTA while having your bootlader unlocked, because it will brick your device.

My original Stock Rom had been flashed to CM 10, but now I have flashed it back to stock rom that I tried to search online from this site. Is it counted as original stock rom or not? My phone is unlocked bootloader, and I got ota update but cannot install, I don't know why; maybe it has been changed or maybe of unlock bootloader?

About TA

So,
I already unlocked my bootloader and backed up my TA.
I wanted to flash new ftf, and then by accident i flashed the ftf without excluding the TA from the FTF.
My question is, is it going to be a problem?
Does it mean i have new false TA?
Do i need to remove the false TA? How?
Thankyou very much!!:cyclops:
no, don't worry, everything is fine.
Have you noticed any problems in your phone? I bet not.
Once you unlocked the boot, it wiped your TA anyway.

Thanks for that, it was rooted, and shot itself after trying backup-at, would not even come to life. Then I had problems with win8.1 and 'spat the dummy' and reinstalled Linux (Debian) and using flashtool managed to get 14.3.A.0.681 back in, not rooted now and still unlocked. Now to work out how to restore locked with the TA backup.

[Q] A pretty messed up situation. Can I get some help please?

Ok, so after using AOSP based ROMs for a month, decided to switch back to stock. So flashed NUT's .757 fw. After succesfully booting up i restored my TA backup which i had made before unlocking my bootloader. Restored fine. Ater rebooting, without even thinking i flashed doomkernel v16 through recovery and the device did not reboot rather just vibrated on pressing the power button, no lights. Used flashtool and flashed the stripped ftf. Magically the device rebooted into system. So my doubts are:
1. Have i relocked my bootloader by restoring the LB's TA?
2. How to unlock it again if i have indeed done it?
PS: I have not made a TA backup after unlocking the bootloader
Can someone please help me?

Is your bootloader unlocked? Is your phone C6902? Why in the world would you want to flash antiquated 4.2.2, especially if your bootloader is unlocked. The unlocking guide specifically states you have to be at least on 4.3 in order not to lose camera. If your phone is C6902 and you flashed C6903, you have a wrong baseband.
No. You can't use another phone's TA backup, unless you want to brick your phone.

I am not familiar with SOL23, but if your bootloader is locked, there is no permanent damage. You just need to re-flash the original firmware for SOL23. Try to repair it with Sony flashtool...
You have to restore your phone to original, then, if you want to unlock bootloader, do a TA backup, so that you can restore DRM function in case you would want to relock. If you unlock without backing up, you will lose your DRM key forever...
