So I turn WiFi off when I leave home to go to work in the morning. See attached. It appears that WiFi is still on well after 9am. All the way up until I reboot the phone in the afternoon. Then is appears to be off until I turn it back on at home. Any insight?
go under wifi settings and make sure scanning always is turned off. that setting will make wifi stay on even if you turn it off.
On the picture you have, it's on.
To turn it off, swipe down from the status bar twice, and tap on the WiFi icon.
Or go to Settings, then Wi-Fi and slide Wi-Fi to the left

Thanks, I am fully aware on how to turn it off, and I do just that. My question is why does this show it was still on that whole time?

perfect. this seems to be it.
Also make sure that "Always allow Wi-Fi Roam Scans" is unchecked under Developer options.

When my screen goes to sleep, my Wifi or my data connection stops (whichever one I'm using).
If I'm listening to the radio using Radio Time, the sound stops after the screen sleeps. An interesting thing to note is that if you go to the lock screen, it starts playing again. It seems like the screen just needs to be on. The problem seems to be limited to just certain applications because Pandora still plays after the screen turns off.
Another app, Android Web Desktop, which allows you to text and manage your files from the computer, doesn't work correctly either. Nothing loads while my screen is off but it starts loading once I turn my screen on.
I'm running on a Sprint HTC Hero with DamageControls v2.07.2 ROM for Android 2.1. I also have a Flan lockscreen. I don't know whether the problem is ROM related or what.
Does anybody know why this is happening and how I can fix this?

Make sure always on mobile data in settings is checked.

I just check the settings and I already had always on checked. Should I just wipe and see if the problem goes away? Am I the only one with this problem?
check the wifi sleep policy as well.
Settings>Wireless & Networks>Wifi Settings> [press menu] > Advanced >Wifi Sleep Policy
Setting it to never will make the wifi radio never disconnect, at the expense of battery, of course.
I have it too, although I sort of assumed it was by design. Makes for a pretty frustrating experience trying to use Gmote or Boxee Remote.

I'm still having the problem kinda. It seemed to not turn it off as fast. It stopped working after about 30 seconds in Android Desktop and RadioTime kept playing but was very skippy. Are you having this problem? I don't understand why certain app work and certain don't.

For problems with Gmote and Boxee Remote, this fixed my issue.

That was a useful suggestion. To go a bit further on this point. You can turn on/off your wifi (and more) by using applications like timeriffic when you really don't need it. Eg, when you're sleeping. Timeriffic changes some of your profiles based on time so it would be a great option to add to this setting change.

I use Juice Defender to do the same thing and I let it manage my mobile data connection. Helps stretch out the times between charges a little bit despite me using my phone very heavily.

I am searching for a way to disable the WiFi when the phone goes to standby.
Maybe one where i can set the time between screen is going black and disabling WiFi?

It's a good option to have, but I find there may be a considerable lag between screen off and WiFi off. That may be just after changing the settings, I have yet to see. You can compare by looking a the battery usage, and clicking on the graph to make it full screen. Then you see the screen and WiFi 'on' periods below.
I found that by enabling the option to "when screen turns off" it drains the battery much much more then when it was on "never". Could this be because it is always searching for a mobile network when display is off?
I find it much easier to use the notification bar to switch off wi-fi just before I turn the screen off. It's become such a habit that it doesn't bother me. At least I know that it is 100% off and is not draining my battery.

Two things:
1. I have read that too. I am not sure. Now I use Llama to turn off mobile data when I am Home or Work, where my WiFi networks are. It also turns off WiFi when I leave either place, because I always forget. I think that may help.
2. When I set WiFi to sleep when the screen is off as an attempt to increase battery life, I get the issue in the battery graph that WiFi does not seem to always turn off. I would have expected the blue bar for WiFi to be off when the blue bar for the screen is off, but it just seem on most of the time. Sometimes it does turn off, however.
This happens whether I let Llama set it, or I set it manually. Seems flawed to me.

I use this app to manage the WIFI and Mobile Network
It really saves the battery...

There is something you can edit in some database. I cannot find the post again.
I have solved the problem by getting Llama to turn off the WiFi 1 minute after the screen is off (that can be adjusted, obviously), and turn it on when the screen turns on. WiFi usage goes down significantly. I have yet to have a 'slack' day, so am not sure of the overall effect.
It also keeps the WiFi on if charging because I have set SugarSync to only sync while connected to mains power (a really useful feature). That way I get the best of both worlds.
I have checked everything and even the greenpower doesn't switch it off.

Stamina mode isn't supposed to turn off Wi-Fi when the screen is off, it just prevents apps from using Internet when the screen is off. Except for the apps that you select to stay active.
So is that normal?
Check if NFC is on. Turn it off.
Settings - WiFi - options - advanced - Uncheck that third option with something about always searching for Wifi.

Today I noticed that the Wi-Fi icon animation for turning on and off Wi-Fi is gone. Before, when I would turn on Wi-Fi, each "bar" on the Wi-Fi "launch" icon would light up in sequential order but how the whole icon lights up immediately. What happened to the animation? Same for when I turn off Wi-Fi. Before each bar would turn off in order but now the whole thing just turns off.

Anyone having this issue with their S6? Mine keeps knocking itself off of my Wifi whenever the screen turns off, and consequently removes itself from Wifi calling. I already checked the Wifi sleep settings and even went into the service menu and turned off Wifi power save. Anyone have a fix? Can't text without wifi calling at home and I'm having to leave my screen on constantly so it doesn't turn off.
I've done that already, and it does it even plugged in.
