So, I changed my SIM from Verizon to T-Mobile--works fine. Then, I changed it back to my Verizon SIM--I get no signal.
After doing some reading around, it sounds like the only way to fix this is to perform a factory reset.
I intend on using the built in function in Android to do this (not use TWRP). Will I have to re-root/decrypt my N6 again if I factory reset? I know the SD card (emulated) partition won't be affected, so that's good. Just wanted to make sure, as I've never just performed a factory reset on a phone without wiping the /system as well, and flashing a new ROM.
try going into SETTINGS > MORE > CELLULAR NETWORKS > PREFERRED NETWORK TYPE
change according to network.
Same thing happened on my Nexus 5. Sprint service, popped in T-Mo SIM and back to Sprint.

Nope. Nothing like that works. Tried changing APNs, getting a new SIM card, etc. Probably just need to factory reset.

Since ive installed Maximus 42.0.0 I get not internet on my phone, in the mobile data section it only shows as Disconnected bcause service is unavailable, Ive tried 2 different sim cards, It wont let me try to change to APN settings, Ive tried to reinstall maximus 42 and going back to a really old backup I had of a completely different rom and still nothing, and even after re installing maximus and using a old backup I can never change the APN settings, and it always shows up the top the sim card icon with a !, But it still alerts me on both roms when I eject the SIM card.
I cant find anything that helps, Ive also tried install a new radio and firmware.

Have you tried Settings -> Mobile Data -> Mobile Network Settings -> Access Point Names -> APNs select the Menu (three dots) choose New APN. You can enter all the relevant information there.

Wow, something has messed with your phone. Assuming Maximus downloaded correctly and you checked it MD5 to verify, then maybe your recovery may be causing some issues. Some versions of TWRP are writing in the wrong partition and resulting in missing OS, etc. This version might help. If this doesn't help, then you might have to go back to the stock rom to check if the issue is there. If it is, then you might have to send in your phone for servicing.

I would give the different version of TWRP a try first, then if it failed, I'd go back to stock. It may save you some time and steps.

No It did not work
I have tried Multiple time factory reset and Back up . But still the same issue
I was on the latest stock Nexus 6 rom. I have ringplus as my provider and the signal hasn't been very good at my house so I tried to change the band priority by dialing *#*#3282#*#*. So I did that saved and rebooted ever since it says "no sim card". I removed and wiped the sim card clean and put it back in and still says no sim card. I never had any problem with the sim card before. I can't dial *#*#3282#*#* anymore to change the band priority or access any of the cellular network settings.
I have since installed the latest Pure Nexus custom rom to see if that fixed anything. And still the same "no sim card" error. I currently don't have another sim card to test. I likely won't get another sim card before Wednesday. Anyone know what went wrong? or if there is anything I can do to fix it? Is it possible I could wipe the band priority settings I changed in the first place?
Thanks for any help.
Download a factory image and flash it. That should completely reset your Nexus. Save everything you want to keep in internal storage beforehand.
Thanks i'll try that.

This wont work as what he did is lower then the software layer. He will have to go back into that setting and change it back.
Word of advise. Leave those settings alone. They are not meant for people to mess with and unless you are a tech for the carrier then you dont have the proper tools to test things out.
Thanks for the help you two. Flashing the factory rom did end up fixing it. I couldn't go back into those settings after I changed them. The number you dial to get to those band priority settings no longer worked.
Hi there:
I had a rooted nexus 6 with Android 6.
I was playing with chmod and root and messed up some system permissions.
I have re-installed several Nexus 6 Google images 5.1 6.0 etc...
I have everything except cellular signal. It says no service and sometimes no sim card.
I have taken my sim and put it in another phone and it worked.
When I go to *#*#4636#*#*
It says GSM: emergency service only and GPRS service: disconnected.
I tried to change the network type to GSM only and others with no success.
Any help to further diagnose this would be appreciated..
Thanks

Very good point.
When I flashed 6.0.1
under cellular network settings , I only see Data raoming, Preferred network type and System select.
no APN settings
When I re-flashed 5.0.1 , I could see the apn settings, but when I go to it, it says something like that the user doesn't have permission to view the settings. I even tried to add a new settings and save it, but the message stayed there and I see no APN list at all..
I might have messed up the APN permissions with chmod, but I would think a system re-flash would have corrected it..
Thanks

Does your IMEI match the number on your SIM card tray?
So I bought my XZ1C in the US, flashed Pie (tried SG, TH, FR) with newflasher/flashtool, since the official US Pie is not out yet, all files except Simlock.ta. All the firmwares showed full signal some time (3~5 minutes, give or take) after boot on, but none of them were able to have data access, and phone calls cannot be made. Xperia Companion doesn't fix anything. Rebooting doesn't fix anything. Same if I take out my sim and replug in, same if I choose WCDMA/GSM or GSM only, same if I reset network settings, and same if I flash the baseband files + OEM.ta from US 47.1.A.16.20. When I go in to the testing (*#*#4636#*#* if I recall correctly), all numbers are 0, indicating no issues with the sim card itself. IMEI is showing up correctly, and the phone even recognizes my carrier. If I rollback to Oreo, everything just works fine, whether it's US, HK, FR, DE, or whatever. It's been really depressing, and I appreciate if anyone could help me out with what is happening here. BTW, my carrier is CTExcel, based on T-Mobile in the US. Thanks.
Does you've try a factory reset after upgrade to Pie?

Have you checked the APN settings? maybe your vesrion is failing to download the correct settings.
Look up what they should be for CTExcel, then apply them manually.

Well, I don't think that's necessary cuz I flashed everything using newflasher/flashtool, including reset.

I'll give it a shot, but I doubt it's because of that. My carrier never required APN settings on iOS or Android Oreo; all it has in APN is something called "alpha" on my iPhone 5s.
I haven't the problem at all. which are reported.... OK... first at all, I have received a loop of reboot during the Sony logo.. After that I press power and Volume up for a few seconds... the phone vibrate some times (normally its means factory reset). After that it was started and I'm at the beginning...

Ok, I used my home-country SIM card, and enabled roaming, it worked, with AT&T network connected. Changing the APN to my US carrier's didn't solve the problem, however, so I suppose I shall just contact my carrier then. Thanks, bro.
