as i understand from reading the tread about product types and codes you can flash different codes and types but some things may not be supported such as the carriers radio fequencies.
i have a lumia 810, which i assume t mobile will either not release, or take ages to release the black update. in nokia care suite, the black update is not available on thier server either. so i was thinking maybe i can flash it with the firmware for a lumia 925 for tmobile since it has the same frequencies. but now the problem is the other hardware. since the screens are different sizes and and different ppi will mismatched hardware cause problems on my phone?
or maybe there is a better phone to try and cross update that has black available?
edit: or maybe the 820 would be a better choice since they are exactly the same with the only difference is front camerea and lte

nokia care suite still shows up only with amber with this product which i think is correct for united states:
059M0F3 RM-824 NDT AMERICA US ATT
and i understand that 820 black was released today, hopefully it'll pop up in a few days. but i would love any input

lumia 810 is WP7 phone and Black or any other update never come....
also you cant flash WP8 ROM to WP7 device....
support for WP7 devices is DEAD...
Black update is only for WP8 phones (Lumia 520, 620, 625, 720, 820, 920, 925, 1020)
if you want check did any new firmware available for your Lumia 810, try use

Hi, got my girlfriend a 520 AT&T gophone and she is using it in the USA with straight talk. We went to try internet sharing and see that AT&T has disabled it, and removed the data sense app. I've been spending the last week reading about the debranding process. I have the Nokia tools downloaded and setup and ready except for which ROM to choose.
I really am at a loss as to which ROM I should download. I was ready to download 059S2D1 RM-915 LIGHT SWAP ENG GLOBAL
Then read 059S2X9 RM-915 VAR BR CV was a good choice and have also read 059S340 RM-915 VAR APAC AU CV is a good choice.
I've read the swap Roms are generic which sounds good but what does the light part mean?
The BR I'm guessing is Great Britain?
The AU I'm guessing is Australia, but can't figure out what APAC stands for.
Seems CV stands for generic? So really all three of these Roms should be pretty similar except for what language they default to?
Sorry about all the questions I have spent a bunch of time reading just want to make sure before I possibly have her phone out of commission for a while by choosing a bad rom. I couldn't find any kind of abbreviation decoder for the Nokia Roms.
Thank You
Edit: There doesn't seem to be any ROM for USA with CV or am I just not finding one? I'm guessing Nokia must only sell the phone through carriers in the us so no need to release a Generic ROM for the USA.
Bro, you don't Need new ROM to debrand, search Google for " Lumia 520 Debranding", i'm sure you'll find a solution, there are a complete sites just made to tell you how to debrand your phone

Thank You, I appreciate the response but I again searched using your exact phrase, also adding without ROM and a few variations. They all still reference the need to flash a non carrier specific version of my phones rom. I can't find a single reference to being able to enable internet sharing and data sense using the stock AT&T ROM.
CV stands for country variant. Basically a generic ROM (no carrier crap), but only comes on unbranded and unlocked devices sold in specific country/region.
Another ROM worth trying (if it exists for the 520), is the developer ROM. As generic as it can be, no carrier crap + all features enabled (Data Sense, etc.).

The tethering lock is a network feature. I tried to debrand my 521 to the firmware that Nokia shipped with a replacement motherboard, I am still getting the message on T-Mobile that I have to buy that feature.

That's because the Lumia 521 is a carrier exclusive phone.

APAC = Asia Pacific
Any of the Country Variants would be fine most likely. I'd go with the Australia one.. just because it's certain to be the Australia one. BR could stand for something else.
The two-letter parts are usually country codes, in the case of BR it should be Brasil.
From experience I can say that all firmwares released for the RM-914 059S6X9 are carrier-free (though they are Danish by default!). I'm not sure that the radio difference would cause trouble though.
But if you go through the possible variants using NaviFirm+, you should be able to see the carrier-free ones. They usually have no provider name (e.g. ATT, Vodafone, T-Mobile, Verizon, Telenor, 3, etc.) in the version name Look for UK/US variant of the firmware under the proper model number.

This seems to be the case, I just finally got a chance to flash her phone(we don't have internet at home so I have to go out to download stuff and we both work) I chose 059S340 RM-915 VAR APAC AU CV and it flashed successfully. Unfortunately it is still giving me the same message about contacting att....
It did at least enable the data sense app so now she can see how much data she is using. I wonder if I got the phone unlocked if it would let it tether?
I appreciate all the responses.

Hi, I'm trying to replace the screen & digitizer for a Lumia 1520 at a local shop. In his search he found two types and they had a significant price difference. He says there is one for CDMA ($180) and one for 4G LTE ($260). Is this the case? Is there really two types and I'll be stuck paying $260 plus labor? I'm with AT&T in Houston.

Both versions are too pricey, where are you looking that you got such prices, and no, the screen assembly itself while can be with minor differences can't be priced so differently, I think the repair shop is trying to scam you.
The shop itself is getting the quote but I don't know what supplier they're getting it from. So you are aware of two versions of the assembly? I'll look on eBay to see what kind of price I find there. Thanks for replying by the way...

Hi all. I won an ebay bid for this phone. I'm waiting for it in Italy. I read it's easy to unlock it paying 20$ online but I had a bad news when I read frequencies about gsm/umts/lte. It seem to work just in Usa/Canada...please tell me I'm wrong :crying:
The American version can not be used in Europe. I think you're missing pretty much all frequencies so even if you would be able to use it the connectivity would be poor
Might be better to cancel it and get it from China, that model has most frequencies that are also used in Europe

Thanks for the answer but I already have it in my hands... It arrived today from a bid I won on ebay for just 460€(about 550$ custom's taxes included). It was a good deal but I didn't mantion about bands limitations(to unlock it's just 19$).
In the worst case I resell it on Amarican's ebay
Hi
I have same problem ?
can we change the frequencies to work in any country??
Please we need help

I got one myself in Saudia anf did the unlocking, I was bumped to find that it didn't read any signal. I'm reviewing the frequncies bit it seems you are right.
Any confirmation / solution?
No solutions. I just sold it as it was. Luckly I recovered 400 euros vs 470 I paid for it
Oh fudge, wish I'd seen this thread because I just won and paid for an eBay Axon M from the US.
If it can't work as a cellular phone in the UK... it'll end up never getting used... What a waste
