I bought a Galaxy Note 4 and the seller said it is a t-mobile phone.
He said it is unlocked and I am using this phone with AT&T.
However, I am having doubts that this is actually a t-mobile phone:
1. When I startup phone, there is no T-Mobile logo screen.
2. There are no T-Mobile apps preinstalled on the phone, except for Mobile Hotspot app.
3. I do not see Wi-Fi Calling feature in the settings list.
I am confused because of this info:
Model Number: SM-910T
Baseband Version: N910TUVU1ANIH
Build Number: N910T-RAC-CONVERSA-ITEP.2014.10.10.1645
Based on the above information, can anyone help me determine which carrier this phone belongs to? Thanks.
Also I used an app to check if the phone was rooted. It says NOT ROOTED.

I do understand that part. How come there is no t-mobile logo screen on startup, no pre-installed t-mobile apps, and no wi-fi calling feature in the settings list? that confused me.

No, you don't need root in order to flash stock rom...
If you want root and everything, someone did this awesome guide here: (who ever did that guide is awesome!)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/not...sy-steps-stock-odin-n910tuvu1anih-cf-t2903733
If you just want to flash stock rom and nothing else...
Just download the latest rom:
http://www.mediafire.com/download/8fn4xr6hu1mctwo/N910TUVU1ANK4_N910TTMB1ANK4_TMB.zip
and flash it using Odin (use the root guide above as reference on how to use Odin)

BAD ASS NOTE 4
I have this same phone. Got it brand new from rent a center. My theory is rac gets different model number phones then flashes a conversion rom to unlock the phone and remove carrier bloatware ect. It uses Net10 service which in my area runs off ATT towers. The carrier name on my status bar is ATT. The device status also says custom not official. My question is. ..what root method and which roms are compatible with this phone and will I still have service after I flash a rom?
Why is his missing the "N" in front of 910T ?
Mine has the N

Just picked up my Xperia Z from Bell - here's a little information on the device, as after searching for a while there doesn't seem to be much out there about this:
Model Number: C6616
Android Version: 4.1.2
Baseband Version: 9x15A-ACEFWMAZQ-30110041-32
Kernel Version: 3.4.0-g6df7905-02328-g70ed36a
Build: 10.1.1.A.1.319
Customization Version: 1275-6311_R2A
Also, rather unfortunately, the bootloader cannot be unlocked (according to the Service info > Configuration page).
Can you tell us if the screen is better? I saw some videos on the Bell website and it did look better. I was gonna go check out the Bell store today but didn't have time lol

Not yet - this is the first Sony device I've owned (used to Samsung devices and the various Nexus'), so I'm a little gun-shy regarding flashing things meant for different models.
Tried rooting it today and, as expected, it failed.
Use DooMLorD to root, I think it should be fine.
Would you be able to backup your rom to FTF file?
Here is the instruction to make ftf file of your rom.

The update made the screen look a lot better but that was with 253 version already and 4.2.2 made it even somewhat better again and camera too.

Tried Doomlord's without luck, but I didn't use the new method to flash the other kernel (was fairly unsure if I would soft-brick it). I'll follow that guide and post the resulting file, though.

I flashed its baseband but it didn't work unfortunately.
This Rom only has band 4 LTE also even though Bell says it has AWS and 700.
It couldn't pick up t-mo LTE too.

For any other Bell users who are new to Xperia devices and unsure of flashing, I successfully flashed this 4.2.2 stock firmware using Flashtool (left FOTA, BASEBAND, and UNKNOWN unchecked). I had to add the Bell APN settings, but everything works!
Additionally, I rooted using this guide, but when I got to step 11, I reflashed the kernel from the first firmware image I linked instead.
So if I get this one, unlock it and flash standard firmware, can it be used with Rogers and its LTE?

Rogers and Bell both use the same LTE bands, so it should be good with the network unlock. Switching firmware is really only required for rooting/getting 4.2.2 at this time.

So bell's firmware is standard or it's a custom one with bell's apps per-intalled (aka you have to wait for them to release a new version 2-3 weeks after everyone else gets it)?
Bell's firmware has their apps, and is subject to their release schedule, but will work with other carriers - it's just the network lock that prevents you from using another carrier. However, if you're looking to root, or don't want the extra Bell branding in your face, switching firmware is a valid option.

Yeah I'm not a big fan of bell's branding tbh, because all my services are with rogers. But what is difference between 6606 and 6616, do you know by any chance? thx

Never used the 6606, or any of the other models. From the looks of things, though, it's a difference in basebands and supported frequencies.
laslow, I flashed baseband off the ftf file you posted, there is only band 4 LTE, not 700 (band 17) as stated on Bell website.

Rooting will not Carrier Unlock your device - Flashing a Custom Rom will not Carrier Unlock your device - Either pay Rogers $50 after 3 months - or go to sammobile.com - They offer a Carrier Unlock service.

I had problems with a tmobile rom so i used your steps with the stock NJ3 Wind rom. However the file turned out to be a Bell Rom. My csc even says BMC when i check it. My signal hasn't been as good on this stock rom.
Any chance you know where i can find the actual Wind rom that came with the phone?

Now to clarify, unlike the US or the rest of the world; all the carriers in Canada use the same rom.
Meaning no matter if you have wind, bell, telus, rogers etc its all the same modem, kernel, recovery, and system.
Its all N910W8, so there cannot be a modem/signal difference.
And for proof here is a list of MD5's checksums for the files I provide and what sammobile provides:

So this confirms that any bell, Rogers or tells phone can be unlocked to work on the AWS networks such as wind or chatr? I have done a ton of research and could not find the AWS bands on bells info but have seen both model numbers on bells, winds, etc. As N910W8
Has anyone had luck unlocking even though a company?

I'm going to say yes given that they are all N910W8 and all running the same rom.
But I haven't tested it personally; buddy at work has wind, I will try his sim in my phone next week and report back.
Hi,
From Google official image download site, there is only one image to download, it doesn't specify XT 1100 or 1103. So one image for all model? I flashed several ROM to My XT1100 , but I cannot get T-Mobile wifi calling to work, so I want to try the factory image. Also where to download the T-Mobile official ROM?
Thanks.

I was linking here, but it says it need a link. I'd guess T-Mo adds there bloatware, but I know you don't need to use it. As you say, it is universal as it's a Nexus. :victory:

tmobile doesnt add any bloatware(having the sim in your phone on first bootup does). att, which has a lot of bloatware, also doesnt add any. but when you boot up the very first time with your sim card in the phone, it sees att, then adds the bloatware. if you boot up without your sim, no bloatware
Thanks. I flashed factory image, however I still cannot get Wifi calling to work. I turned on the airplane mode, turned on wifi, and then turned on Wifi calling (Wifi preferred). Nothing happened. Cannot call any number. I did same on iPhone 6 and it works. How can I trouble-shoot the problem?
Works great...wifi calling works, carrier branding with Sprint logo on boot...WiFi calling works...strange that the install did not wipe my user data... VoLTE works by default...maybe enabled after I enabled wifi calling??? For outgoing and incoming calls...very stable...though my dark theme doesn't look right on some settings screens.
RCS works natively in the Samsung messages app.
Can not edit APNs anymore though the old methods though.
Any other Sprint users try this out???

Just curious how or why the Sprint branding was installed onto your U1 unlocked note 9. Or was the Pie version you installed a Sprint firmware specific one? Thanks.

It was not before the Android 9.0 update... Android 8.1 did not show any branding, but the Android 9.0 does. Similar to how the Samsung s8 was when you could switch carrier branding on the fly

This is what's confusing me to be honest. My T-Mobile Note 8 U model rebranded to Sprint when I inserted a Sprint sim card. I didn't think U1 models did this for the note 8 /S8 or 9 ? I thought brand switching only worked on unlocked carrier branded U variants.

I dont see volte. Show me a screenshot where you see it.
I think you mightve mistaken it as calling plus. Theres no toggle for volte and i am in nyc which is the market for volte.

You have to use shortcut master to launch the activity manually... VoiceNetworksActivity...see screenshots. The old activity shortcuts no longer work on Pie.

its a U firmware.. you can convert from U1 to U firmware.. All the firmwares are multi csc.. meaning you can install a VZW firmware for example on a sprint device and ull get sprint branding as it will use spr csc when it recognizes the spr sim card

It's a U firmware what? Reference your first sentence.
I'm aware that any U firmwares are compatible with the USA SD devices. However, my question was about OP flashing his U1 non carrier specific SD device to Pie and it branded to Sprint apparently. That's the part that confuses me.

the pie leak for note 9 was from att servers which they only release U firmwares.. he had to have flashed U firmware onto a U1 device then flashed the update.zip to pie

I was on whatever rom came with the phone when I bought from Samsung..
Then flashed the rom in the instructions to install the Android 9 pie J1 firmware. Before I had a Samsung splash, now I have a Sprint splash.
Hey 5G Pioneers,
I am wondering can I flash the sm-g 977b firmware onto the sm-g 977n device through the Odin? Did someone make it?
Since these two models are all using the same Exynos 9820 chips
And from my previous experience of using my galaxy s8, Samsung actually enabled me to flash the firmware in different regions only if the devices were using the same chip version.
I am currently in Australia. The Korean version of 977N is much cheaper, and it seems that is the only network unlock version that I could buy from the market.
Not sure where are you in Australia but I bought mine from a Telstra Sales Rep (based in CBD, Melbourne) where he got a discount code and gave its to me for AUD 1400 for the 512 GB Majestic Black Version, unlocked , I'm using Optus, VoLTE, VoWIFI works fine on it.

Thanks. Is this the exynos or Snapdragon version? I'm planning to buy the 256gb version and use in India. So wanted to check before I ask my sister to buy.

Hi everybody,
On Sammobile website, I found 4 firmware Korean variants. I tried getting more information on the "KOO" variant to see if its a stock Samsung firmware without Carrier Apps/Bloatware without luck. I couldn't get any detailed information whether it can be flashed over any other Korean variant. Can anyone here clarify if its possible and If yes provide further details?
Attached a snapshot.
Many thanks

That is the non bloatware Korean version but it doesn't allow me to flash it. I suspect you have to flash it with the userdata file also.
Thanks for the information,
I have a new phone so No issues with user data. How do I flash the firmware.
Thanks

Hi,
I have successfully flashed the "KOO" variant once with and a second time without "userdata", however that did NOT remove any of the Bloatware/Carrier Apps.
Any thoughts?
Thanks

Hi,
I did disable the apps which is great, but there menu operator items as well!
Edit : Forgot to mention that the boot logo is of the operator as well.
I was researching something about using the PIT file along with the firmware but can't find the specific PIT file for S10 5g.
Use Odin or the modified version to flash combination firmware. Then flash your desired firmware.
This is the only way I am aware to remove all carrier bloatware and boot logos.

I am particularly interested in this as the 977N variant seems to be dual sim. I notice it also has additional bands to the 977B varient and I would like to put the telstra firmware to ensure operation of VoLTE VoWiFi RCS etc.
The main purpose is to use at home and overseas. So more bands and access to features (VoLTE, VoWiFI, RCS etc. on my telstra SIM and local overseas SIM) when overseas are the goal.
Unless someone can confirm that the 977N with vanilla firmware will support all the telstra features?
Thank you for your assistance
