I'm having a problem where I can't seem to put my finger on it. I have 2 week old Nexus 6 and part of the reason why I bought the phone was to stream music in my car. However, every time i try, I get this horrible static coming from the phone. So naturally I thought, well it must be the cable that i'm using to hook up my phone to the aux port of my car . So i bought a shelled Aux cable and the hiss is still there. So i tried my wife's Samsung Note 4 and the cable is fine and the sound is beautiful from her phone. So next logical thing is, this phone is busted. So I put some apple head phones on the phone, the hiss is gone! I can't hear it, it works beautifully. My next thought is, the head phones are just not quality enough to pick up the hiss. So I have some mid-range Sure head phones that are pretty badass. I put those in and i STILL don't hear the hiss. Now i'm clueless as to what it might be. The phone makes the hiss in the car's aux port while on the charger, while off the charger, All audio programs I through at it.
I was wondering if anyone is having the same issue or had any luck solving it.
Nexus 6 aux issue
I am having the exact same issue.
Are you plugging it into power? You may need a ground loop isolater.
i have that exact same issue.. when ever i connect charger to phone...
forgot to say this is on a GS4.. my N6 will arrive tomorrow or friday..
if its a ground issue.. i should just add a ground to the cars wire harness.. that should take care of the issue right??
i will add the ground wire to the plug for the power outlet.
EDIT: i get my nexus 6 today.. i will try it out. if i still get the noise.. i will add the ground wire.
Aux sounds issues with nexus 6
This is my problem: with my old note 2, also a lgg2, I listen music in the car with a aux male to male connector, at the same time I also received calls and I could talk through the phone and listen through the car speakers. Now I can listen music with the nexus 6 but at soon as I receive a call stop sending the sound to the car and reroute the sound to the earpiece on the phone.

Guys
Had a fault with the old 3.5mm jack a while back with the headphone switch- common problem- basically the inbuilt switch, which normally is on when no headphones are plugged in, and broken when headphones are inserted stayed off, thus making the phone believe the headphones were always plugged in and re-routing the audio. (nice)
Anyway I did the o-so-wise thing and obliterated the socket and tore the ****er out, bridged the two tabs and put it back together, which did solve the immediate issue and allow me to make phone calls again, however it does mean i was left with a gaping hole in the top of the case, which is doing a cracking job at collecting pocket fluff...
So, does anyone have idea of the part number, or anywhere i can purchase a replacement 3.5mm switching headphone socket for ye ole X1?
Happy new year folks

hey,
I usually listen to Pandora in my car on my N1 , i have the aux cord so you know it goes to speakers. but when i get a phone call i have having to unplug the aux cord just so they can hear me. I can hear them fine through the speaker in my car. I guess its like this because N1 assumes i plugged in a headset and cuts off the internal mic. how can I use the internal while I have a aux or just plane headphones plugged in.
Thanks
PS im running CM7 build 31 nightly

When I use pandora with the aux cord and a call come in, I just talk like normal, they can hear me and I can hear the caller on my car speakers. How far away is the phone to you? Mine is mounted only like a foot away from me.

i put the phone right to my face haha
I have the same issue, I think its because of how far the phone is, however I usually just use the speaker phone, then once the call ends the music resumes
Hi Guys
I have my Notes dock connected to a pair of active studio monitor speakers (Cakewalk). When the 3.5mm audio jack is connected to the Notes 3.5mm out on the top of the phone all is well.
When I connect via the docks 3.5mm out (and set the Notes audio to dock out) I get an audible 'pop' from the speakers when the screen is touched - seems like a surge of power from the sound card audilbe from the USB but not from the phones own 3.5mm out.
When the phone is awake using fairly regular touches there are no pops, only when it is dormant for a few seconds does it make you jump out of your skin
I have had the same set up running perfectly using an HTC HD2 and Kidiggi docking cradle.
I don't know if it is the Dock or my Galaxy Note at fault
Any help is appreciated

I'm experiencing the same issue.
Audio ouput through the Note's own 3.5mm jack is popping as well. Doesn't matter whether I'm using passive headphones or an active speaker.
The Note I had before I got a replacement had this too, so it seems to be a general problem :/
Edit:
Forgot to say that it seems that the speaker output gets disabled when there is no sound for about 2 seconds. As soon as something makes a sound the speaker gets enabled again and produces the popping sound.
So while listening to some music or watching videos there is no popping at all. Only when the playback starts.
I have the same problem with my SGN. It's much more noticable, when I connect car charger, but without it it's still there, but u need to focus to hear it. Any of you found solution to this?

No, unfortunately not... :/
hello everyone. i am on my 3rd nexus 6 all had the same issue and i'm wondering if anyone else has come across this or am i just having bad luck. on all the nexus 6's i've had i've had this random buzzing sound pop up when using the headphone jack. it doesnt do it at all on bluetooth. it seems to do it more when the cord plugged into the headphone jack moves. the buzzing is temporary like 1sec in length but it can do it multiple times in a 10sec span. at first i thought maybe it was the headphone 3.5mm plug in that was messed up but it's doing it with other headphones i have also. it also does it with the auxiliary cable i use for my cars stereo. has anyone else had this issue with their nexus 6? i am wondering if this is a manufacturing defect since this is my 3rd nexus 6 that has been doing it. i have an at&t nexus 6. i remember my samsung galaxy s2 having this same issue years back and it turned out to be a hardware defect.
i listen to music with my headphones plugged in, no issues here. anyways, this goes into the q&a/help section, not into general. ill ask a mod to move it there.
Hello everyone! I picked up a Nexus 6 the other day, and I have ran into a very interesting audio problem with it. I like to use it in my car to listen to Spotify. However, for some reason, when I plug in the cable, it does not always detect that the cable is plugged in, and still outputs sound through the phone speakers. I originally thought this was the aux cable I was using, and I replaced it, but it was still happening. I was messing with it a bit more today and it seems that if I plug it in slowly, it will play out of my car just fine. However, if I plug it in normally, it is like it doesn't see the cable at all. This does not happen at all with other systems at all, be it other cars or home audio gear. It also does not happen with my deck and a different phone (I tested it with my old One M8). Currently, I am using SoundAbout to force it to output to the headphone jack before getting in the car, but this is getting to be a bit of a pain to remember to disable it each time I take my phone out. Has anyone else ran into a similar issue? Does anyone have any suggestions?
