Hello and thanks in advance.
I tried updating to Kitkat using http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=57158582&postcount=44.
It failed I used the "Reboot" function in TWRP. Now my cellphone won't turn on.
I tried to turn on using fastboot (vol- then power button) and it doesn't work. Then I tried soft-reset (vol- and power button) and it shows me the "Bootloader unlocked" message and then I can't do anything else.
Have I bricked my phone?
Thanks.
SOLVED. I am so sorry for posting, I was desperate. I kept trying to fastboot it until I somehow got it.
It seems that the failed restore deleted my boot partition, so pressing the power button did nothing. After I finally got around to recovery again, I could restore my backup and it's all good.

Are you trying to flash TWRP?
What happend when you press the power button for a long time?
Normaly the 2 buttons should blink, then the One goes really off and then it starts with the htc logo.
Is this happend?
What recovery you using? What Rom? Its rooted i think?
Hold the power button and volume-down until the device turns on. Then keep holding volume-down until the fastboot screen starts. Can you enter recovery? If so, clear cache. If not, get in fastboot mode, connect to USB, and run "fastboot erase cache". (You need your drivers and fastboot program set up on your computer.) If that doesn't allow booting to system and recovery, reinstall recovery using fastboot: fastboot flash recovery twrp.img. Then boot to TWRP (via fastboot, navigating the menus using the power and volume buttons). You can the nreinstall a ROM, and if needed, factory reset.
I just tried to access fastboot on my fire and pushed the wrong button.
When holding "Volume Up" while switching the device on, it shows "Factory APK mode..." on the screen. After releasing the button the message disappears after 2 seconds and the fire boots up normal.
Nothing has happend, it works normal and all apps still work the way they did before.
So what does that mode do?

Likely just safe mode, only stock apps load, when in safe mode.
Used to boot device if a non stock app is causing device to be unusable.
But why do play store and so on still work when booting into that mode?
It just displays the message while booting, but nothing changes when up and running.
5.0.0 or 5.0.1 ? mine boots on fastboot mode
5.0.1, I can take a picture of it later today, didn't know there might be a difference in the versions.
I can only get fastboot ... Are you able to do this reliably? I've tried different hold an release and timings but can get it to happen.
Sorry for the late reply.
I tried to take a photo of it displaying the mode, but my phone couldn't produce a good one, so I finally took a short video. Focus is bad but you can sometimes read it.
I can repeat the process every time: Power down, hold volume up key, power on -> factory APK mode.
Hope that helps you.
Can nobody proove this works?
I mean I can't be the only one with that mode and I'm still wondering what it does.
stays now in fastbootmode - help
Tried that, now it is showing fastbootmode, nothing else happens.
It's stuck in there, it does not react on buttons, nor is it seen by adb.
What can I do to get it back to life?
[Update]
Meanwhile I googled, installed Android SDK, went to platform-tools and tried adb and fastboot.exe.
adb devices gives an empty line.
fastboot devices gives the tablets serial and the word fastboot
fastboot in conjunktion with reboot, reboot-bootloader, continue tries but does nothing on the tablet.
Looks as if I have to wait until the batterie gives up, what do you think?

hold the power button till it turns off and turn on again.
not shure but this worked on the older fires.
Success!
Thanks a lot!
My v5.0.1 german tablet boots into
- recovery mode with volume down + power on keys pressed
- fastboot mode with volume up + power on keys pressed.
Recovery mode says:
Amazon system recovery <3e>
Volume up/down to move highlight;
enter button to select.
reboot system now
apply update from ADB
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
reboot to bootloader
power down
view recovery logs
I have this same problem on my fire that I have only bootloader 5.1.1 and tablet does not start and I can not enter the recovery I wonder if I can help solve
I have 2 Fire 5th gens, 5.1.1, and both have the factory APK mode on vol up button and fastboot mode on vol down. NO recovery mode option. I can't even make it boot into recovery using fastboot reboot commands.
I have the "no command" screen with the android man , however it flashes in and out. when i hold down the power button and go into ap fastboot mode, i cannot go into recovery (it just shutdown the phone) and factory reset does not work. My phone is a non dev version, is there anything i can do?
Hi,
I was trying to install Linage OS 14 on my H9L and I got it installed fine. I then tried flashing TWRP with `fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk twrp.img` I then did `fastboot reboot` and once back into Linage I rebooted into TWRP from the power menu. After this TWRP got stuck on the loading screen so I tried rebooting, the phone rebooted back into TWRP and got stuck again. I then tried getting into fastboot by plugging in the USB and holding the volume down, rebooted into TWRP still. I then managed to get out by holding the power button and the + and - volume buttons to get into eRecovery. I then tried to do reset by doing 'Install latest version over WiFi' which downloads then fails and now I can't boot up my phone and it just goes straight to eRecovery every time I boot it up. I can still get into fastboot and I've tried flashing recovery_ramdisk, ramdisk from both a system update zip and from a TWRP backup with also no luck. At this point I really just want to get back to stock.
If anyone can help I'd really really appreciate it and be forever grateful .
Thanks,
Jake

I also cannot flash TWRP anymore.
Power down phone, then plug a USB cable into PC then phone. Whilst plug Cale into phone press and hold volume up.
This should place you into Fastboot mode.
What does it say for FRP.
If it says that is locked that would be your issue of why you can not flash anything.

A small typo above from @hacktrix2006 , Vol Up will actually bring you to eRecovery.
Vol Down will bring you to fastboot mode.
@Sparkrite , nice catch that is what i ment. When i replied i was awake for at total of 1 minute so brain wasn't fully working right.
My device went int bootloop suddenly while I was using it. I not able to get in fastboot (when I press Power + Down it shows fastboot window for a sec and reboots again ) or recovery mode(When I press Power + Up, Screen shows up saying no command).
I was using official build(July patch). I have not enabled ADB. My bootloader is also locked.
Is it possible to get this device working?
Any help will be appreciated.

This is normal behavior of stock recovery: seeing "no command" hold "power" and click "Vol+", - to get to the stock recovery menu (btw, search would 100% give you this tip even in these forums).
As you are locked, and thus you have surely lost user data, you can try to make factory reset from recovery menu.
Yet I'd try to connect phone to power and make numerous attempts to reboot, occasionally rebooting into fastboot and into recovery, - with the hope that phone will switch into the other A/B slot.
If nothing helps, TestPoint/EDL is the only option except service.
But again, the problem may be hardware issue, and as you are supposed to disassemble phone preforming TestPoint, I'd check connectors inside and tried to reboot again before reflashing in MiFlash. And do not forget to reflash in fastboot after MiFlash reflash (and unlock phone - which I did immediately after purchase).
