Hello all. I have noticed that when I get a hangouts message, the ambient display pulses a handful of times after receiving the message. However, when receiving an Inbox message, it pulses only one time. Has Google set different priority to certain notifications? Does this possibly occur due to messages in Inbox being bundled? Looking to see what others are experiencing. I hope that Google will continue to evolve Ambient Display and allow for settings and customization. Personally I wouldn't mind if Ambient Display pulsed for a good 10 minutes at least. I believe Active Notifications on the Moto X continually pulses if I am not mistaken.
Problem solved. You have to check the notification light setting in the Inbox general settings. I did not think to check this being that the Nexus 6 does not actually have a notification light.

I have written a little application that gives LED notification for missed calls. (the default behaviour gives you only LED notifications for SMS,email and voicemail)
Features: Customizable sound, vibration, led, repeat notifications for missed calls, incoming calls, sms, bluetooth enabled/disabled, bluetooth device connected, airplane mode, battery level low, etc.
Version 0.8.9 includes a Locale plug-in! For all the Droid users make sure that you have got "Missed Call for Android 2.0" installed.
You can try it out if you want.

Android Market - Missed Call
FEEDBACK:
Just reply to the thread here or tweet me: http://twitter.com/missed_Call
This is pretty cool, now all we need is a Bluetooth notification light.
Thanks mister. This is just what I needed.
The next updates will be released in the Android market only. But I will update the thread here when the next version is available.
Hey i emailed you earlier about what the status icon does. i just wanted to say thanks i understood now. thanks for the quick reply too.

Awesome job. Interface exaclty like it should be. Working exaclty as expected. Strange feeling to have such app on this new platform. Most of apps is raw a meat. =)
your app rocks. originally, i gave you 4 stars and said "add option to change colors"
and you did that in the update. i can't change my rating in market, but i now give you 5 stars.

You rock! I downloaded this a few days ago and just got the update- SO COOL!
I dont know if you are looking for ideas or taking requests, but ability to play a sound every few (cusomizable ) minutes would be stellar! I miss my reminders for missed calls, texts, etc from WM as my phone is usually in its sleeve
Better yet, your app taking over all the notifications to give us selectability in color and blinking rate of the LED (and hopefully sound!) for ALL notifications, that would just be a "dream"!
I'm thinking about all kinds of different customisations for the notifications. Today I added SMS LED support. Have fun with it.
Regards!
if you keep it up you may want to get a "donation" Paypal linkie
This app is awesome I'm still hoping for an audio reminder every X (customizable) minutes using X (customizable) alert in either this app or another similar one, but for now this is great
I'm thinking about adding this reminders. The problem is that they will drain the battery. But I will test these things and add them.
PS: If you got a forced close while stopping the service it would be nice if you could inform myself. I know it has to to with the stopping of notifications but I can't figure out the excat bug.
Looking at the phone seems to drain the battery. I once thought about using GPS and it drained the battery. Just saying battery seems to drain it. I wouldnt worry about the notifications hahaha
Well yeah. I'm looking into that. I will add some Timer as well to make it possible to shut down the notification after a certain amount of time. But well I just need a break at the moment.
a break? Get back to work!
seriously though, great work! I am looking forward to seeing your future versions.
In the next release we will have some bugs fixed. SMS and Call LED stops blinking now when you read the messages or look at the missed calls. (which was a hard peace of work since it is completly undocumented ) In addition we will have a permanent status icon when it is set. (it will not disappear when you clear the status bar) And last but not least we will have a silent incoming call notification. (LED flasing while incoming call in changeable color)
Regards!
add reminders please!
Ah yeah. I will look into them.
Hello again,
I downloaded the newest version of the app with sms support. Its works good but found a couple "bugs". First is, that sometimes the led turns green, but I clear it and then its blue again like it was set. Happens from time to time. Last, if its possible, can the led take precedence over the charging light?
Also, what is the timer for? Is it the duration the led stays on like in a blink or what? Sorry having a problem undestand the on off thingy.
Thanks and keep up the good work.
Your first problem is fixed now in the current release. (0.3.7) I'm sorry but the system doesn't allow overriding the charging LED. I tried that serveral times but there is no chance to do it in the current Android release. (confirmed by Google developers)
I renamed the timer now. It is the interval that the LED is blinking. 300ms/300ms leads to very fast blinking for example.
Regards!
I bought the phone yesterday and I'm not sure if I'm missing something in the settings but the screen wont wake when I get the email or notification (e. g. from IFTTT or Pushbullet). The Glance is disabled.
The Nokia 8 doesn't have the stock Ambient Display, in its place there is Glance, which works differently. It's "normal" that the screen doesn't wake up when you get notifications.
If you activate Glance you can see some notifications (call, mail ad SMS) by moving the device. Unfortunately at the moment it's very limited.
Glance is a good idea, because it implements a sort of partial always-on display, but should have access to all notifications.

I didn't know that's normal, thanks for the reply. I installed Glimpse Notifications so it's good now.
I installed Light Flow on my S8, and it's working great, except for one minor issue. When the battery is fully charged, and the green light comes on, I'm not getting any other notification LEDs, just the solid green LED. If I unplug the phone, then the other LED notifications start flashing. Does anyone know how I can fix that?
I think you can set up a notification in light flow for fully charged. Just set it so that there is no LED. Hopefully that will take care of it. Just uncheck enable LED for that particular notification in light flow.

My current phone is an S7 with Marshmallow and Light Flow Legacy has been working flawless. I just received an S8 with PIE and I've been hearing horror stories after updating.
Are you using Light Flow Pro or Legacy?
Are you also using the sound alerts?
I'm mainly interested if getting the initial sound and the repeating sounds as it is used for work.
Thanks...

I am using Legacy. Back when I first installed I had both Pro and Legacy installed and it recommended disabling Pro, so I did. I works fine.
I don't have Lightflow control the sound, but I wasn't getting vibration for a couple things so I use Lightflow for vibration. I think I get double vibration sometimes, but it doesn't bother me. I should probably turn off the other vibrations in the apps, but haven't bothered yet.
I have not tried to use it for sound.

Light Flow Legacy was working fine on all my alerts except 'Missed Call'. I spent several hours, even factory reset. I have finally figured it out.
I was using 'From pre-defined application list' to set the applications I wanted to be alerted on which included 'Missed Call'. Well, it appears the 'Missed Call' in 'From pre-defined application list' does no work on the S8 with PIE. I remove the 'Missed Call' from my list and went into 'From an installed application' and there were 4 'Phone' entries in there, and no 'Missed Call'. I added all 4 'Phone' entries with different LED colors for each, and the 'Missed call' is now working. I deleted the 3 that did not match the LED color that was alerting on, and it is all good. I did have to silent the default sound, and turn off the default LED in phone settings notifications.

I agree. I have been confused about which phone app is actually being used for what when getting the LED to light, and for other issues. I wish I knew that you could uninstall all but one and which one that was. I could probably figure this out, but haven't taken the time yet.
Hi guys, i have a notification problem with mi 8..the LED works on 70% of the notifications but 30% does not let me see, I noticed that there is a connection between many notifications and few, when I receive maximum 2/3 most of the time the LED lights up, while I get more than 3 starts not to light up anymore ... it's not always like that, but for many times yes. Obviously I also tried the wipe cache and dalvik, but nothing...same issue with 10.0.6 and last 8.10.25 (xiaomi.eu). On application settings and led notification setting is all "ON", no power saving in these apps. Anyone can help me?
Update:
After several tests I found that the same problem is repeated for the vibration when notifications are received, sometimes it vibrates sometimes not.

I think you are having your first encounter with MIUI's default features. Go to Settings > Installed apps, select the app or apps for which you want to "fix" the notifications for and tap Notifications. From here, select the feature or features you want to receive notification for and how to receive them (Notification light, vibration, etc). When I say features for this, well every app has it's own set of different components to notify you of. For example, Facebook has several options to choose, lets say you only want vibrations and LED for comments and friend requests, you can set those to only provide the notification light or vibrations when you receive them. Gmail on the other hand has few options relating to the types of notifications you receive (since obviously it's only related to email and there are no comments or friend requests on it). Each app has it's own set and you can control what or how you get notifications. If you are still seeing that you are not getting notifications on time or so on, then the default power saving feature may also need adjusting. Go to Settings > Battery & performance > Choose apps and select the app or apps you want to "fix" the notifications for and select the option called "No restrictions". The default setting is useful for saving power, but this also stops certain apps from displaying notifications as soon as you get them (there is a delay which I still don't know if it is random or if it is every hour, few hours or so). Not all apps abuse your battery, but of course some do, such as Facebook which can be annoying if you receive lots of comments, uodates, etc.

es, the problem is that I have already set all this that you tell me, but many times loses the LED notifications / vibration too often. Could you make me a screen of the notifications app installed section of ex. whatsapp (which I always use) so I copy preferences? maybe there are conflicts, if you activate one thing the other does not work well etc. otherwise I do not know what to think ..
Anyone facing this issue: Notification showing on status bar but not showing on lockscreen, Even after enabling all the app permissions and also show all notifications on lockscreen.
Tried every setting but still not working.
Anybody know any solution?
Notification issue
Yup having the same issue. Infact the notification light doesn't come on at all....I have tried everything checked all settings, permissions. It just comes on when charging or when front cam pops up. Also I don't get sound with some notifications but for some I do.
But the the notification light never works.
Is this for whatsapp? For me, after setting all the permissions, sound, notification badge in statusbar, lockscreen started appearing with sounds.
Light, I haven't noticed yet, as its on the top. Will verify that.
k20pro notification light
Hey guys, its been 2days, i'm not able to get notification light for any application , tried all settings but still no luck. Please help me if anyone found the solution
The notification light on the pop up camera comes on for me but i dont get any notifications on the lock screen or always on display
Can confirm this bug. The ONLY app that gives me notifications on the lock screen is Snapchat, even though I've explicitly allowed all notifications and their content to show in the lock screen. And for my other messaging apps I've gone to their specific settings to allow this as well. Still nothing. It is really frustrating.
Hi I'm currently using redmi k20 pro running China ROM with MIUI 10.3.16. i noticed with messaging apps such as instagram and line won't show me notifications unless i enable autostart in the app settings. Battery saver has also been turned off. Anybody faced similar problem?
Ok so guys try putting off Adaptive battery in the Battery&Performance setting. I started getting notifications on the lock screen as well as on the ambient display screen after putting it off.
Let me know if it works for you guys.

Figured out the "no led thing". Change in whatsapp the color from red to white. That was in my case the solution.
