If I use towelroot to get root on the gs5, will I be able to update the firmware?
Can anyone recommend a custom rom for me? I'm having a hard time deciding on one. I currently have an AOKP rom on my AT&T gs3 which I really like so a similar rom would be cool, but I would also like a clean and basic rom that would get good battery life.
Thanks everyone
Also any good pointers for someone who's new to using towelroot and custom roms for the gs5 would be greatly appreciated.

There'll be no AOSP AOKP Roms for the G900A in the near future due to locked down tight boot loader.
That being said there's several excellent T/W Roms that are fantastic on this device.

Hi everyone, I am trying to root my girl's hero. Her phone is running very sluggish and slow. Any recommendations on roms would be greatly appreciated. I am coming from a rooted samsung vibrant and it seems the process for the hero is very different. I have some questions. What's the easiest way to root and unroot the hero? Where can I find the stock rom that came in the box just in case I mess up? Also, where are the roms for the updates following the stock rom? How easy is it to unbrick the phone? I use odin to flash my phone back to stock when I flash roms. Is it available for the hero? Thanks.
Do a search for Z4root app.
As far as Roms, once your rooted and try different ones.
Sense Roms by:Nfinite,LiquidSolstice,and others
Non-Sense Roms by:CM,AOSP,Decad3nce and others.
Others can jump in and suggest others .I'm on the road try to help more when I get home

Hey XDA!
I recently purchased an AT&T Samsung Galaxy S4 Active. It has MF3 and is rooted (obviously). I installed SafeStrap earlier this morning and was looking for custom roms to put onto my phone. However, I was unable to find any for the Active version. I have seen plenty for the regular s4, but none for mine. Do you guys know of any that I could use? Or a better question would be is it even possible? I dont think I can put the roms for the regular s4 on but correct me if im wrong.
Thanks in advance.

The AOSP ROM from LeJay is presently the only known working ROM compatible with Safestrap (I think I said that correctly, who knows) and it can be found here:

Hey @br0adband did you read that we can flash stock based 4.2.2 gs4 Roms for our actives? Its only a matter of adding the two physical menu and back buttons. I am anxiously awaiting more people to try and verify. If I get brave I will attempt it after work today.

Didn't know that, no, but I no longer have the Active.

Not yet. I'm a sucker for touchwiz though, so I'll give it a try in a couple of days. aosp has too much black and blue coloring for me. I tried shostock first because that's what I had on my s2, and I loved it.

I am sorry that if I may just be too worry about my device but I think everyone should be the real question I am asking is whether there are any current roms that are working with the Samsung galaxy s4 active AT&T (i537) F3, That is the phone I have, its running Geohot Root and Safestrap 6.3 and can not wait to hear that Task650 is working for it, That would be my perfected phone!
I appreciate the Responds I get, its my first time Posting on XDA! Great Site!!

as I think that
OPPO kind of ruined color rom and I do not want to use it anymore because of it not being ready for daily use, I would like to ask you folks which custom rom is the best in your opinion. Therefore I would like to know what the most positive and most negative aspects of each custom rom are so that I can compare them.

Dude, now you're asking about the "best" ROM for the S4, in the Galaxy Gear section of XDA.
Please, act a little less helpless.
So many threads. simply install 4.3 touchwiz rom and search for how to install nova............

Hey guys
Im sure I'm not the only one who's thinking this but I really wish I purchased the original mini. The reason for this is the only ROM at the moment for this device is CyanogenMod and nobody seems to be making one. Anybody else feel this way?
Also just in case are you involved or do you know anyone making ROMs for this phone?
Thank God that we have at least cm.... I agree with you, and since I have this phone from July, I have been asking for roms since the first day, but this device isn't so popular yet... Vi there are kernels and mods, better than nothing. This forum sometimes is dead for weeks, I wouldn't be surprised that there is no interest in development
You guys really want a custom rom ?

Absolutely.... Preferably lollipop xD
@Will972 is one of the biggest contributors, as he gave us stock roms for every update
A sense rom based on lolipop will be planed soon on 2015 .. we must first have a kernel dev for a possibility to have it earlier but we don't have it.
The only thing we can have is a custom rom with 4.4.2 base
I just miss xposed since there is no idiot rooting guide.
I will make a rom with some stuff like xposed and sense 6.0 toolbox and maybe harman kardon mod instead of boomsound

I know rooting a HTC is not as easy as rooting a Samsung but still it is not hard. The most annoying part is unlocking the bootloader, but even this is easy, but killing time. Once this is done, you need 2 files: twrp recovery
(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=53821894)
and supersu
(https://mega.co.nz/#!ShE0gQgS!2C3GycaXd3M5UZkBpmHz-m302EPD2OTwe0OOAOnqI20).
Both can be found on many threads here.

HI indy140
You are not the only one thinking this, read my Statement(s) under Johann A. Sutter in this Forum!
I have made the same experience, for some reason or another it is obviously, that it is not so interesting (or to complicated) for developers to keep them busy with this device!
Good Luck, I'm keeping myself busy, to buy another one, looking before, if there are already valuable possibilities, to be my own Boss about my property.

Hey guys Whats going on. Well Ive had my S5 for a while now. And When I first got it I remember you couldnt Root the phone and One reason was it would Change or mod something with the Kernel. And doing that you would break your warranty on the phone. It has been a while since I rooted and installed Roms, since the droid bionic. Thanks again
Sooo did some reading and now see there is a Root Hack to finally Root these ATT S5 Phones... Can someone Point me in the direction on how to do this correctly?
I have a Kernel Version: 3.4.0 Tues July 22 2014
Android Version 4.4.2
I also would like to Try some Custom Roms. How do you guys Install Custom Roms?
Does we need to install Safestrap? Or any recovery Mod like that?
What I would like to do is get more from my battery as a Full battery barely lasts me a Full day at work.
Thanks guys and cant wait to get some info and advice here. Always great getting Professional Advice than searching and finding 100 different answers.

Now for some friendly advice it would behoove you to learn to use the search function and search appropriate threads for the answers to your questions. Those questions have been asked myriad times by newcomers.
When one doesn't search then one opens doors to get flamed by members short on patience.
I know I've been ripped pretty bad when I first started.
