Hey i recently purchased a 16GB Mini SD. As soon as i got it i formatted it to FAT32 then tried loading Android onto it. Went to file explorer on my phone and the SD didnt show up. So i plugged my phone back into the comp (i dont have an SD reader on my comp) and it showed the SD's storage to have 707GB! Yes 707GB! lol Unless this is a super magic card, something is wrong lol.
I Have tried formatting it again but under windows the only options are exFAT and NTFS. Im not to sure what exFAT is?
Any light shed on this is appreciated
how much did you pay?
i guess its one of these cheaper ones which are only shown with a higher capacity but are in reality a 2gb card or something like that.
DN41
$40 Australian dollars. Thing is when i first put in the phone it read 16GB but when i tried putting Android on it it wasnt read by the phone. And now its 707GB, i wish it was really haha
try to format it as ntfs or exfat and back to fat32...
does this help?
DN41
I tried formatting to NTFS and a window pops up 'windows was unable to complete the format'
And thats all hmmm.. maybe a dodgy card?
Did you not mean microSD? I'd love to see how you can fit a miniSD (larger than microSD) into the microSD slot of HD2.
Where did you purchase your card from, mate? If the answer is eBay then there's a good chance it's fake.
I bought a 32GB micro SD (Kingston) off ebay... It showed up as a 32GB sd card on my laptop, and tried to work on my phone, but every time would try to run android I had problems... I thought I was just a noob doing something wrong, and honestly wasn't gettin a lot of help from others on the forum. Tried new builds, new ROMs, nothing.. Bought a new 8GB card, Perfect! Everything works! The questionable cards seem to lead to questionable results. I would buy one from a brick & morter store and try it. If it works, great, if not, take it back. Good luck!

...and I beg you could probably read/write 32GB of data on your laptop.
However, a common hack used by fake cards is to only store indexes of files beyond its real capacity on the card and store the actual data on your hard disk. Once you take the card to other host (i.e. HD2) then it would all fall apart...
As far as i know its a legitimate card. Came fully sealed in the original packaging. And yes it is a microSD, im sure you know what i mean.
Question i ask now is it possible to bring back a corrupt card to life. I downloaded this tool to re-format but no luck. It says 'this format is not recognized' i even read somewhere else putting it in the freezer might give it a kick start haha

You must got a good deal if you bought locally then. www.staticice.com.au tells me the cheapest 16GB microSD is $41 plus delivery and it's only class 2.

Depends. IF you bought a fake it could be well packed as real. Then again, I don't know where you bought yours from.

I replaced my hd2 SD card 3 times all of them are SanDisk 4 GB, 8 GB, 16 GB.
And every time it works for 2 weeks or 3 then it get corrupted so I’m sick of buying SD cards for this device.
I have no idea why it's getting corrupted even the tech support says my device is ok no problems found.
So I decided to save my money and wait for HTC Windows Phone 7
i had nothing but problems with android on the hd2 and micro sd's all are genuine cards too, managed to recover the files and format the cards luckily otherwise i'd be buying two new micro sd cards, leave android for android devices lol, windows phone 7 out soon no doubt there'll be some new roms out for us happy HD2 owners then.....

I have the same prblm with the 2gb and 4gb microsds. The 2gb one got corrupted till the extent I can't format it nor recover the files from it.
The same happened to the 4gb except that the format on my hd2 seems to be working but not helping much, it's taking too much time and yet the storage card folder still didn't appear.
The formatting prgms on my computer gave me errors when i tried formatting the microsd. So in the end, the microsd is corrupted badly as the first one.
I realized that it been a while since your last post, so any luck in fixing ur prblm?
Hey ppl's, this has just happened to me a second time today. I happend once before when I was traveling. Though I think I have quite possibly found a link. While I was traveling i was useing the Win mobile app for facebook to upload photos (which i hardly use) Then today I was using it (randomly) again and shortly after the micro SD card was unreadable. Could it be something to do with the app / the way it creates multiple subfolders to cache photos from facebook profiles?
I just bought a kingston 32gb class 6 micro sdhc but when ever i put it in my hd2 it just freezes up and as soon as I remove the card it works fine again. At first i though that it was a fake so I:
1)performed multiple tests,
2)reformated a 1000 times,
3)even putting 20gb of data just to make sure.
Turns out that it is authentic and it works perfectly on my girlfriend's htc BalckStone it also worked when I installed NAND (which i later removed due to insufficient memory).Ive been searching for days, I think its a windows mobile issue, any tips??
Arrrrgggghhhhh . . . micro SD card won't stay in. I know I'm pushing it in far enough and it feels like it's locking in place. I had NO problem ejecting it so it just doesn't make sense.
I've tried 2 different cards and neither will stay in. I search XDA and internet for solution but the only thing that I find is to return it because it appears the SD card slot is broken. I bought my NC used on eBay over 2 months ago and everything has been working fine, so returning it is NOT solution for me.
Any suggestions are very, very much appreciated!!
By the way, this is my first post . . . so, please be gentle!!!
Can you get it to boot from it if you hold it in with your finger?

The same thing happened to me, I also couldn't return it. I bought it from eBay and I live in Europe.
I couldn't fix the SD slot, but I noticed that if I force the card to stay in it connects. In the end I pushed a folded piece of thin cardboard between the card and the plastic, which forced the card to stay in. It has worked ok for the last 4 months or so. I cannot remove the sd-card though, but since I have a 32gb one, it doesn't really matter.
Could it be out of spec cards and not the nook that is causing the problems? Have you tried other cards or brand of card to see if they might stay in place?

For me at least the sd card slot was definitely broken, I tried at least three different cards from different brands that were official ones/not counterfeit.
Similar happened here. In this case, after about 8 months the 2 retaining springs fell out, so the card wouldn't "latch" in place. At least I could put the card in and have it work but had to use a dental tool to rescue it.
It was still under the original warranty (and I did buy the 1yr extended as well-I think I'm going to be glad that I did).
B+N CS was slow and slightly clueless- but unfailingly nice. Had a "new" refurb in 5 working days.
Even if you're the second owner, you might want to call CS and run the serial # to see if there's still any warranty left. Couldn't hurt.....
Otherwise, if you're brave enough, you can try to get in there and remove the springs entirely. The card will stay in place but you will need a tool of some sort to remove it when needed.
I had the same issue, called B&N and they wanted to to take it to the closest B&N to me which is like an hour away. I kinda did something that was bad for me to do but I erased everything before attempting to install a ROM. I was able to boot into recovery but I can install stuff from the uSD. i ended up erasing the entire nook to where it boots to a screen that says
Code:
A N D R O I D _
and said something had happened and the CS finally sent me a new nook.
Thanks for all of the feedback. The Nook boots up just fine. I needed to install the old version of Marketplace so that's when I discovered that the sd card won't stay in. I had JUST used it to restore a backup and I had no problems ejecting it nor to I recall hearing anything weird or seeing anything fall out (other than the sd card). I'll try rantak's sugguestion of a piece of cardboard.
I spent 45 minutes at B&N when I first bought the NC as I wanted to register it in my name but because I couldn't contact the previous owner to deregister, B&N basically refused to help me with anything! And I felt they were looking down on me because I bought a used NC on eBay. It wasn't like I would NOT be a customer but after that . . . I'm NOT a customer any longer!!!
Mine now does this to, but if I push hard it will finally stay in place, but I'm afraid that will sooner or later cease working as a solution.
And I've rarely removed the sd card.
Mine did this in the middle of a nightly update. I had to physically hold the card in while I wiped it and restored to stock so that I could get it replaced under warranty. Called B&N on a Monday night a new refurb by Wednesday night. Great customer service!
This is why I do not recommend people put CM7 on the card and then keep swapping between stock and CM7. Eventually the slot will fail. Mine failed and I never remove the card.

I know it's an option but it would be great if you can write up a little up-to-date instructions and post in one of those HOW_TO thread such this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1303843
It would be great help for others.
I thought about that, but the how to restore to stock thread pretty well covers it other than you have to physically hold the card in during the entire process....

What do you mean by this? At first I thought you meant swapping as in taking out/putting in the sdcard all the time, but then you say mine failed and I never remove the card.
I have been running off the sdcard for a long time and only just recently (to update to 7.1) had a need to remove the card.
I could see constantly swapping the card out, but I don't see the effect of simply running off it.

I meant swapping the card in and out. In my case, it was more severe as the slot failed and I never touch the card. Just trying to emphasize the point that the slot is fragile.
I was just curious if anyone has successfully done this. Did they give you and trouble? Did you do it at the T-Mobile store? Did you have yo pay anything? Mine doesn't really lag, i would more so call it stuttering. For example, when i scroll using tapatalk it isn't smooth, it stutters a lot. Once in a while exploring it different apps or system there is some noticeable stuttering. Again, it is for a long period of time.. just slightly. I have tried several of the tips posted in here and it still happens. I am not asking for help, i just want to know if anyone has returned it and how it went. I am on day 10, and want to see if it is worth going in the store before 14 days is up. Thank you!

They'll charge you a $50 restocking fee as the return will fall under "buyer's remorse." You don't need to give a specific reason other than you don't want it. There's no way of avoiding the restocking fee on a return that leads to a full refund, even if it's defective.
Hmm and if i pay $50 for a new device there is no guarantee the problem will be solved. Interesting. .
I didnt have to pay cause it was under 14 days for store and on 21 days if u do online. You could get another phone or same different color I didn't pay any fee. If u pass that time I would do a warranty exchange if u have jump it is $5 processing fee

Don't know how Tmobile works in other states but here even switching to a different color is considered another handset purchase and you'll still be charged the restocking fee.

Interesting. Our stores here in Oregon will NOT let you switch colors without paying the restocking fee. I guess you could always ask for a managers override

UPDATE:
Well, as i was using Odin and going back to stock I tested again and to my surprise the lag/stutter was gone. I tested everything where I was experiencing this. All gone. Then I rerooted and added custom recovery and still good to go. Weird.. maybe Samsung had a bad "flash" when building my Note 4.
With that being said, to whomever is having the same experiences I was, this is what I recommend! BTW, T-Mobile was going to do a free exchange due to buyers remorse. I called them back and said I would not be coming in
Were you using Wanam Xposed?
I haven't but I will. I already tried using other ROMs, factory resetting, everything. Absolutely love the phone, but TouchWiz kills the phone for me. It slows the phone down a lot (in my case at least) and it stutters. So, I'll be returning it and getting a Nexus 6.

The note 4 is a monster. The stock rom is the issue. Now that we have custom roms all is well. I'm on firekat. .....this phone is beast. I'm running about 10 xposed mods, over clocked to 2.9ghz, battery life is 50% better than stock even with all that jazz going on and I just added this SD adapter now I'm noting just over 1tb of space with rw speeds around 60. Font return the device I was having the same issues til yesterday

I haven't experienced any lag ... I'm currently running Custom Stock ROM ... And deleted everything that I didn't had to use ....
I have never experienced these crazy lags. It does stutters sometime, but all computers stutter sometime... You should see my ipad3. I'm on stock and not rooted just yet.
If you're within the 14 or 21 days they have to exchange it if something is wrong with the phone. It's not buyer's remorse.
Unless of course you want a different color then that's different.
I think I might return mine because I've had lag almost everywhere from home screens to apps, Internet and even videos.
I'm still completely stock, never had this type of issues with my Note 3. ****, even disappearing icons, look at the bottom messaging app.
Icon gone after a reboot, had to reboot again.
I was wondering, for those that have exchanged it.
Did the replacement work out better for you??
I'm debating whether returning it or just rooting it and slapping a rom on. But I don't want to keep it if it's the actual phone.....

For all the people claiming there is no lag, THERE IS LAG. But only if you root it and if you don't properly fix the S health issue.
I thought all those people were crazy for claiming there is lag until I experienced it myself. Do the clear data/reboot method on s health and then go back on wanam and check the option to fix s health. That removed my lag
And also there is a lag on the recent apps hard key, it's pretty slow just like on my S5. On my S5 I enabled soft keys/on screen keys and that lag was gone but the lag was still there for the hard keys on my S5.
I tried enabling soft keys on the Note 4 but it keeps crashing "system UI" every 2 seconds, I am able to put soft keys on my s3-s5/htc m7 but how come not on the note4?
*UPDATE
So I contacted Tmo today just so they can note what's going on so I have no issues exchanging it.
The rep recommended to take out my SD card and try it without. And if I wanted to, to do a reset.
I had used the same SD card since my S2 Days so I didn't think nothing of it when I started using with my Note 4.
Anyways, long story short. SD card is out, factory reset it and now my lag is practically all gone. I've been using for about 5 hrs now.
So it was the SD card causing all if not most of the problem.
I'm going to format my SD card with this phone and hopefully I won't need a new SD card lol.
Anyways, something for you also having lag to try it out in case you have a similar situation as me.

I did sane took out sd card played wirh it lag gone pyt sd card in again lag still gone
So I received my 128 gig microSD card from T-Mo/LG about 2 weeks ago. I didn't install it until yesterday. I realized this morning that all things installed to the card yesterday are now gone. All data, all apps moved to the SD card, all music, all files or photographs... all gone.
I have since formatted the card multiple times and removed and reinserted it multiple times. The problem continues to show itself every reboot. Also when I move an application to the SD card the app fails to load and disappears from my app drawer.
Has anyone else experienced this with the promotional SD card (or any other for that matter)? Does this scenario sound familiar? Or perhaps I just got a faulty card. Perhaps it's an issue of xFAT not playing well with Android (but LG specifically touts this phones compatibility with the extra high capacity storage...and it is they who shipped me this class 10 SanDisk SD card)
Any input would be useful. I've seen this discussed on other forums across the Web with older devices but no real solutions or thorough discussions for that matter.
Thanks for any help guys
There's a post in one of the G4 forums where SanDisk says they don't recognize the cards and they're probably OEM grade. They offered to replace the cards if the poster couldn't get the T-Mobile promotions team to replace them first.
I'm going to guess that many of the cards are either bad or counterfeit. When I was shopping for cards on Amazon, there were too many people selling counterfeit cards that would behave just like you described for me to chance it.

My sd card (samsung, this time) is being reported in my Note 8 as corrupted. Now I'm going to lose my photos again. This is really getting to me.
I now only use name brand sd cards, Samsung or Scandisk. This has been happening in all my devices....first my S6. I thought it was just a cheap sd card, but when it happened again with a name brand one, I thought maybe an Android thing with the S6. But then it also happened (one time so far) in my Galaxy Book 12", which is a Windows device. Now, this morning, in my Note 8.
Any ideas why my sd cards seem to occasionally get corrupted for no reason? At this point, I do not believe I can trust any sd cards for strorage. Does it happen to anyone else?
Was the SD card bought directly from Samsung?
I don't think so, since this began I stopped buying from eBay and usually get my cards from Amazon.
Where do people usually buy from? I thought Amazon was relatively safe.

That and if from amazon. Make sure the product is fulfilled by Amazon. That way if stuff fake, they will replace with ease. Walmart another safe bet. Samsung also offers product identification on weather product is fake or not. You just send them pic and they will tell you. I've used that and it's free.
Ebay can be trusted only if seller has a lot of high feedback. Also the product has feedback from people.
Oooo I just had a thought....I installed the mag mount by Pitaka yesterday in my car and used it. Could that have done it? I've never used a magnetic mount before.

Flash memory is immune to magnets because there is nothing magnetic in them. Smartphones basically wouldn't be possible without it. I would just buy SD cards from local electronic or Office stores and don't buy the cheap brands. You may save money online from Amazon but only by a few dollars anymore. Physical stores have realized they need to stay pretty close to online stores prices or face extinction.

Strange...I've used either SanDisk or Samsung SD cards on a few devices over the last 4-5 years and none have corrupted. Maybe a rogue app or something causing a conflict? Seems like too many corruptions to just be bad luck.
