I know this is a noon question but I hope someone can help. In twrp how will I go about unmounting /system partition? I'm trying to flash a ROM and halfway through flashing gapps it rebooted automatically and got stuck on the Google screen. I rebooted back to twrp and tried the process again and it said unable to Mount /system. I heard you have to unmount system before flashing. Is that correct? Thanks for your help in advance

do you need to format the system first?
In TWRP goto mount, and uncheck the system box before flashing.

AW: HELP- How to do Format System
After you format /system you should install your Rom. You can't reboot cause you haven't installed a system on your phone.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda app-developers app
Yes. Do not reboot after formatting system because your ROM is gone.
I always format system when changing ROMs, it is good practise to do so.

The benefit to formatting system before you install a new ROM isn't gaining space. Its clearing out system files that may interfere with the new ROM and make it not run as fast as it should, or make it unstable.

Ok thanks just wish rom manager had this option

Hi,
I'm using a HTC one, which is rooted, s-on, unlocked. I'm also using maximus hd 13 rom.
I want to completely reset the content on the internal sd card. I already tried to format the card via cwm wipe and during aroma installer using full wipe. But afterwards my sd card is still not clean, all the stuff from before is still there.
How can I get rid of those sd card content?
thanks in advance,
Chris
Well I can tell you from experience that it's a lot easier than I thought it would be. I actually use TWRP and what I do is install the Rom I want...then format the sd card in recovery and reboot. It's that simple..at least for me. Now for cwm I think there's the option for to format sd..not just wipe..but I can't remember the setup off hand...I'm thinking the process would be exactly the same

Hi,
I've installed maximus 13 an hour ago, doing all wipes I found
I also use the factory reset in the android settings.
At the moment I'm looking for format options in cwm and I found the following in "mounts and storage menu":
- format /cache
- format /data
- format /sdcard
- format /system
- format /external_sd
- format /data and /data/media (/sdcard)
should I try these options? If yes, all of them? In which order?
I can't imagine that it could be so difficult to get your sd card clean

okay, I've done so and it looks good. Do I have to reflash the maximus rom now or is it possible just to reboot the phone and everything will work fine?

Just reboot. U should now have a clean storage.
The others (system and data) would wipe your Rom and user apps.

I don't have TWRP either, but it should be under advanced and read something like "format /data/media"
I ended up just installing clockwork mod and the wipe worked fine but I have still ended up with sdcard\0 and sdcard\legacy is that normal?
On the plus side I no longer have a copy of everything in both.

You should have /data/media/0 and /data/media/legacy
/sdcard/ is only a symlink to /data/media/0
You should be good.

OH MAN!!
What you think could wiping system partition mean? Exactly: you wiped your system partition and because of that, there is no more system to boot from anymore...
So go back to recovery and flash a rom of your choice. If you have no flashable rom on your sdcard, you have to sideload a downloaded zip from your pc. There are howto´s how to do that with TWRP here on XDA. Before you do that, you should update your recovery to the latest version of TWRP (2.6.3.0)http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2173870&highlight=twrp
I wish you luck

i can not access my internal storage from pc
Look up ADB push or ADB sideload, either will get you where you want.
Don't worry, you haven't messed up your phone

You don't need to access internal storage. Just have ADB installed on your cpu and make sure it reads your device. Reboot into recovery go into adb sideload and push a Rom from the terminal of your computer. YouTube it for step by step process
