Have you tried it guys? When capturing images from front camera, the viewer shows a sharpened view. But when captured, it becomes soft even the "soft skin" feature is disabled. When you try to capture it with soft skin on, it has no difference.

I have only just purchased my Z3 Compact and am experiencing the exact same problems with the front facing camera. Is this a defect with my handset? My wifes Z2 used to do the same and we returned it for a LG G3.
I really dont want to return this phone as otherwise it seems really good but if this is a 'normal' feature of the phone i cant believe reviews didnt pick up on this and i would have to return it for a refund. Every review that i have come across seems to suggest the camera is very good but i have seen this problem highlighted on another website too.
Is there a way to turn this post processing feature off?
Any help will be kindly appreciated. Thanks
This is definitely a software bug. The outcome is the same with "Soft Skin" option enabled and disabled.
Hopefully Sony Fixes it in the upcoming updates.
I've also noticed that its only occurring in photos. When you capture video it is sharp.
same here, we all should mail sony about that issue, otherwise they will ignore that.

There is already a thread with dozen replies on Sony's forum and a lot of people mailed them (including myself).
Lollipop update has not fixed this.. How ****ing hard can it be sony? :silly:

Dear all, I have recently bought 2 Xperia T's one for my wife and another for my mother (they both seem to have the same issue).
They are currently running the most recent stock ROM 4.1.2, not rooted just how it came from the box with one big update to 4.1.2.
I have read in many reviews that the camera was good, at least better than the one in Galaxy Note (N7000) or Galaxy S2, nevertheless when I compare the pictures, specially in lower light (just not the ideal, in doors with some light) scenarios they are all extremely blurred.
Am I doing something wrong? I use the 2 stage button to take the pictures, press it a little bit to get it to focus and then I press it a little more to take the picture.
When comparing the pictures in the same conditions, my Galaxy Note 1 does a better job, which is a pity as one of the selling points for my wife was the 13Mgpx camera.
If anyone could help me I would greatly appreciate it.
Many thanks in advance for all your input.

Thanks for the reply. What should I put? Normal or something else?
Another thing I always use the 9Mgpx settings as it gives the 16:9 instead of 4:3 with 13Mgpx.
Just try with different settings. Its just like any camera, you need the correct setting for the picture you are taking. Superior auto sort of just takes a best guess and is good for quick snaps, but if you want a decent photo then you have to go through the settings and set it up as you want it.
There is a thread in the general section about how to take decent photos, just search for it.
@Johev if you find the thread about good camera settings please share it with me also, I googled but didn't find (found similar threads but for other phones )
thanks bye!

Hi @moly82, I have found the thread and it was somewhat useful.
Please see here
As for the summary of the advice is not to use the automatic settings, and to use normal settings with image stabilization ON (it is off be default) and sometimes you can play with ISO, etc.
I did try it and it seemed to improve the pictures so far, nevertheless have 2 complaints:
1) You need to know what you are doing, like for example my wife does not care what the settings are, just wants the pictures to look well. On my Galaxy Note 1 the N7000 or on the Galaxy S2 the pictures on default settings look better.
2) There is no way that I could find to have the default settings in the camera be Normal instead of the automatic [iCamera picture] ones. Which means that after you press the camera button to launch the camera application, you first need to change the settings and only than you can start taking pictures. This every time you launch the camera.
If anyone knows how to change the last point I would be grateful, as I am tiered of hearing that her old Xperia Ray took better pictures than the Xperia T.

thanks a lot my friend! I have just read it all. I enabled Image stabilization too now
about point 2, here after selecting normal mode every time I start the camera I find it in normal mode, not in iAutomatic again! (but I am not on stock, I am on custom rom, see my signature
bye!!
Hey,
feeling pretty dumb right now but how the hell am I supposed to switch between the two cameras on the back?
I can switch between front and back camera but how do I switch between wide-angle and normal angle?
?
When you open the camera app, you should see a little "1,0x". Press ist and the camera will change.
Nope, I tried by blocking one camera with a paper and if I press the button it still displays. It seems that will just software zoom.
I managed to find out that only Bokeh mode uses the lower camera.
Tried it in "normal mode" in the nokia camera app. The tele camera is active when zoom 2x is choosen. Blocked top and lower tele camera to confirm. Do you use an alternative camera software?

The app info is not very informative. I guess it is HMD camera app.
At least the icon and UI looks like this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.evenwell.camera2

Yes this looks like the preinstalled camera app.
In normal "PHOTO" mode, the lower tele camera works here as intended. Guess some weird SW bug/setting is causing you trouble.
Below is the interface screenshot, because the Appstore picture looks slightly different.
What is you phone version?
I'm using the German/European version, model TA-1046 with Android 8.1.0
Camera firmware is V100.0077.02 - V010.0017.01
Build is 00WW_2_13B
App version is 8.0260.50

Exactly the same, also bought in Germany.
Maybe another picture related app on your phone, blocks the tele camera in normal foto mode.
As far as camera apps goes, I'm running the Pixel3Mod wo interference (this Gcam mod can obviously not use the tele camera at all), everything else is more or less stock.
I really wonder what is blocking, if that's the case.
I already restarted several times and opened the app right after it.
Doesn't work. Hrm...
Guess I'll see what HMD has to say.

Weird indeed.
As a last straw, did you try to reset the camera app settings and reopen the app afterwards?
Yep tried that too. Also tried to force stop all app that might use the camera.
Maybe it is just broken and there is a fallback to the working camera?
Edit: ah no wait it is working in bokeh mode so I guess the camera works ?
a bit worrying
That's normal
The telephoto lens only work if there is a good lighting condition, if it is a little dark environment then the normal lens only work with digital zoom because it has bigger sensor size so it give better photo
I got a message from Nokia stating that the change between the two cameras is done automatically.
I can confirm this, as suddenly it worked today in ONE instance.
Since then I couldn't confirm it again.
This automatism seems to work in like 5% of all times.
At least for me it is totally unclear when to expect the second camera to work.
Also how can I tell the second camera was used? So far pictures seem exactly the same.
Also on the display I couldn't see any difference when the second camera was actually working to the main camera using digital zoom.
It feels like I paid a lot more money for a useless gimmick for now.
If so, that's disappointing.
This is how all phones with dual camera work, if light is not enough then the phone automatically switch to the main camera.
Look at the different between the details of these photos
is there a way to have a bigger wide-angle? I am a bit disappointed because i thought with the second camera there would be some kind of a wide-angle option like action cameras have.
So there is really no way to switch manually?
Is there another camera app/mod which can give this functionality?
Use Live Bokeh mode, that's only way i got now...
I got another message from Nokia to reset the app and try again. Seems that might have resolved the issue partially as it seems to use the second camera more often. But I find it rather random still. I tested it on vacation for 3 weeks.
Often I can see a sudden switch of the camera even though the lightning situation is the same.
There is no wide-angle camera in Nokia 7 Plus mate
Hi guys is there any fix about p20 pro camera in regard with the snapchat, yes, I am aware almost all android phone snapchat screenshots the phone and does not use the phone real camera before sending it to somebody. I have the same problem with s9 plus thought Huawei would be better, my friends iPhone X works perfectly fine as with all phones because when you take a picture from the iPhone It sends the image from the camera not a screenshot
I have also this problem.
We need to wait for an update I guess.
I'm afraid your only option at this point is a pixel 2. Only android phone I know of that can send the proper photo because the app can tap into the visual core
I wondered why the pics looked so bad from snapchat. I never knew it was a screenshot of a photo rather than the proper photo. Hope it gets fixed.

Has anybody else noticed a weird diamond spot on some surfaces though honor play camera?
It is visible only on certain surfaces and colors, at the center of camera.
I have uploaded the pics in a honor club post, link below.

I have also uploaded the video here if someone not able to compare with pics.
Anybody has any clue why is it there, please check and share your views.

I just tried this and yes. It's in mine too. Grrrr
After a few tries, I can only get it to show if I use the flash. Maybe it's just a flash issue?
Yep, I have this problem too.
Is this issue fixed? I'm guessing AI mode caused this (if that makes sense)
I've ordered Honor Play 4GB variant India which will be delivered on 4th Oct 2018 Sunday.
Starting to regret my choice.

Makes no sense that it's connected to ai, no. How could it? You can safely ignore the muppets on that other forum ("maybe you have a mark on your jeans" lol!)
It happens with me with Open Camera so it's not even related to the stock camera app. I used to have a sony z3 and that camera added a pink blob in the middle. I just don't think phone manufacturers test their stuff properly.

Oh cool ! Thanks for the reply.
Got any tips for a new Honor Play user ?
I only see it when I use the flash, on items close to the lens, so I'm wondering if it's taking the image slightly sooner than it should do?
It seems like and it's the actual flash LED glow that's causing the spot?
If it took a millisecond longer to take the pic, the LED glow wouldn't get picked up by the image sensor?
Just a theory.

No, because for me it happens (I can see the shape) when i've not yet taken the shot so there's no flash, focus light etc. And the shape - it's a rotated square.
It is odd, because I can't get it to occur on every photo. It does seem easiest on trousers! Perhaps it's supposed to be a watermark that's much less visible.
If you only pretend to use your phone camera and instead use a proper camera, like huawei do (https://petapixel.com/2018/08/20/huawei-caught-faking-smartphone-photos-with-a-dslr-again/) then you won't have this problem.
Anyone have any settings to capture textbook from Xperia 1ii main camera?
Using main camera (24mm) capture will have this 'water effect', which other area have some blur effect.
Using wide camera (16mm) kind of eliminate the effect, but no flash available.
Using other apps doesn't help.

Hi Sho-Bud, can show some examples?
A lot people say that the big sensor will cause this "bokeh" effect.
I'm newbie in this camera thing.
Can someone show some example using 24mm main camera and snap texts.
Appreciate the help, thanks.
I tried to upload a file, but the forum says that the file is too big, can you sent a private message with your email address, so I can send it directly to you?
Sure you can send it direct to me [email protected].
Appreciate the samples, thanks a lot.
Thanks @Sho-Bud, I received your email.
And seems like your picture also having soft edges.
I think this is common for a big aperture camera sensor. (Google the whole night just to understand the camera thing ).
Below are 2 comparison for 24mm and 16mm (ultrawide) camera, notice the soft edges on 24mm.
I don't mind using the 16mm, but it has no flash light option available.
