I have a Brazilian model xt890 that recently stopped working. The phone hangs on boot-up with the red M logo.
It was randomly restarting and losing the window manager and generally behaving odd so I hoped the issue was an automatic software update.
I installed RSD Lite v6.1.4 and tried to access the stock roms on sbf.droid-developers.org but all the links are down. I would like to reflash the phone with completely stock android.
1) Can I use any rom from this page to flash my phone? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2239706
2) I read that you need to edit the XML file before flashing. Do I simply need to remove the lines with "var" in them?
For my situation (hanging on the red M logo), is the best course of action to simply use RSD lite v6.+ and flash a rom. Nothing more?
I appreciate the help.

first of all i would like to thank anyone who tries to help me. i am somewhat new to the motodroid i own an evo and i am trying to help a friend. the phone is a verizon motodroid 1. the phone has been rotted for about a year he was running i think buggless beast at the time it died the initial problem was his baseband along with a few other software info went to unknown status. first he tried a backup, after not fixing the problem he contacted me and i decided to take a look at it after researching on multiple websites the best conclusion i found was to download the drivers for the phone, rsd lite, and the sbf files to reflash the phone back to stock.
i tried all of this with no good results know the phone wont boot past the M logo screen in the boot animation. the phone is unable to restore any backups at this point. every time i run rsd lite it seems to work and at what i believe is the end i get a fail. then when i hold up on the d-pad when turning on the device it reads.
bootloader
2c.7c
code corrupt
and the phone is now unable to charge the battery also the only thing i was successful at accomplishing was flashing the sbr recovery but still could not flash any rom or the update zip that someone had mentioned to flash
any help would be appreciated
ok my best hit at it is resetting the hone. i bought a used droid 1 and the previous owner had left the " connect the dot " lock screen on it so after googling some **** i came accross a site that said something about booting into recovery. hers the steps
slide screen up and press and hold " x " and power until you get a triangle on your screen. now press both, the volume up key and camera simatainiously untill text appears then select reset or factory reset. this worked for me so hope this helps.
that was all done before i tried to use rsd lite and had no results after using rsd lite it completly removes the stock image then rewrites a new one. the problem is the removal of the image passes but writing the image fails so i am left with nothing.
Hi,
This is my first post so please if I'm in the wrong place or doing anything wrong please let me know.
My problem and yes I am the fool to blame! The other night I was playing with root explorer and decided it would be a "great" idea to delete all the folders on my Milestone A854, PDS DATA etc etc.
What harm could it do? I just reinstall a rom back on and all sorted...... Wrong! I reinstalled roms using mini mod and then sbf files with RDS lite both producing the same outcome. A phone that displays the "M" Motorola logo then turns off and tries again......repeatedly!
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
Hello,
I know for me, I did the same thing with my Motorola Droid. But the thing is I didn't know what files the Droid had when it was in factory mode. So I decided to flash back to the original, in my case Verizon, SBF file. Then I rebooted, and let my phone update itself to the latest version, then did the whole "rooting" process, with the same rom I've been using.
Hope that helps
~Jin
Thanks Jin,
My problem here is I don't know what it had in the first place? I've tried flashing stock UK SBF but that just puts you in the Motorola boot loop so no opportunity to update.
Any further help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

im sorry if i get it wrong, so u cant get to recovery mode or sort of? i deleted one of the folder on /data n /system before, but i managed to entered recovery mode. n did the rest via console.
Yes I have and can still get to open recovery.
What could I try and do from there? I've tried with updates through this method the same way you put on custom firmware ( put the rom file in the open recovery updates folder).
So what do I need to do via console?
Still stuck with this one have tried stock sbf and custom roms all same problem BOOTLOOP have tried taking battery out then factory reset still same. Don't understand what wenderis means by "do the rest via console" ? So if any one out there can get my brick back to life you will be loved forever.
Basically I wasn't paying attention while trying to delete backups in Safe Strap and started to flash a backup on my stock slot. I instantly did a battery pull and killed it, but ever since then I can't get it to boot. It goes to the red Motorola symbol then the screen goes black and it just sits there with the hardware buttons lit up.
I can access AP fastboot mode and the default Android recovery by holding down the volume keys plus power at boot up. I've already tried using RSD Lite to FXZ and tried wiping everything in recovery. But to no avail.
Does anyone have a possible solution to this problem or is it time I finally took the plunge and got a newer phone? Thanks for reading this.

I did something similar, except I was altering init.rc files manually, and the phone bricked pretty hard. If RSD Lite doesn't work, you can use fastboot from linux to step through the XML file line by line.
If you unzip your ROM's install file, you should see something like a bunch of files in a system directory, then an XML file in a MANIFEST directory. That XML file is essentially a list of commands that RSD Lite runs, and they line up pretty much one-for-one with fastboot command line parameters.

Hi everyone. I have a problem I can't seem to resolve. I tried updating to the OTA jellybean update a couple weeks ago, it seemed to go ok. I then tried to go back to an earlier version of eclipse rom I was using. Now when I power on the phone I get AP Fastboot Flash Mode (S) (Flash Failure). I can select normal boot and it will go into my ICS Rom that I have loaded in slot 1 after going thru my safestrap recovery program. So the phone is not unusable, just very annoying to use. My question is, how can I get the fastboot flash mode flash failure warning to not show up every time I reboot the phone? I've tried loading the Stock JB Rom from verizon, Blur_Version.6.7.246.xt875.verizon.en.us with RSD Lite, but when I try to extract the files with RSD, I get the error "Please check input file. Either XML format is wrong or image files associated with it are missing." I just want to be able to get a stock rom back on my phone, without any errors when I boot it, I don't care if I have root, safestrap, or anything else, I just want a properly working phone. Any suggestions how to get rid of the boot flash failure warning? Thanks!!!! Richard
Update.... Looks like I really screwed it up now. Tried to rsd lite a JB rom, got about 1/2 way, to copying system image, then hung up. Now when I reboot, it won't even go into recovery or normal mode... Stoopid operator malfunction..... Any suggestions on which rom I can try to install via RSD Lite to help get it back going? It will still go into AP fastboot mode.
He's dead, Jim. Nothing is working, no rom will load, they either fail or hang up. Now both of my batteries are dead, and it won't even try to do anything. Any suggestions?? Guess I'm in the market for another phone. Maybe some of the gurus on here have some advice. Thx.

Thanks to some other posts on here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2236980 I tried installing the system and preinstall img files manually thru moto fastboot. They seemed to hang up after a few minutes, but I tried to install the files anyway. Afterwards, I was able to get into recovery mode and do a system wipe and reinstall the JB rom that I had on my SD card. Now a couple hours later, I got the pageplus 4g issue fixed again, and just finished rooting it with the tutorial on XDA http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2256439.
You guys are awesome! Thanks for all your hard work.
Hey guys I am desperate for help as I am loosing my mind! I have a Verizon Bionic I tried to update safestrap to install cm12 upon reboot after cm flash it would only go to fastboot, after pushing a complete fxz *minus webtop grfs.img as it always fails flash* it now boots but wont go past moto m and you can see a blank screen with backlight if you let the display go off its distorted when it comes back on towards the middle of the screen, or it bootloops, still have access to fastboot but recovery comes up with the triangle droid with no options. I would like to fully format internal and reflash fxz but don't know if that would work or partitioning scheme. PLEASE can anyone!! help me??? also all files I find are 404 for the most part and have adb/fastboot, RSD lite, current moto drivers and sdk/android studio installed RSD cant see the phone, only visible through fastboot.
Did a manual flash following the outline in the comments section here *without the moto just fastboot* http://androidforums.com/threads/droid-bionic-fastboot-fxz-files.540725/
