[Q] Bricked my XT1068, how do I fix it? - G 2014 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I've been experiencing lots of sudden app closes on my Moto G 2 so I decided to get the lollipop update from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/mot...wrp-backup-t2964330/post57299580#post57299580
My phone was rooted with unlocked bootloader, and Furnace kernel installed.
I downloaded the zip from that file, followed the instructions and when I used TWRP to install the update from the restore menu, it stopped at 25% and went back to rebooting my phone.
Now it is bricked at the warning bootloader unlocked screen. I can still open TWRP but I don't know where to go from here.
Please help me fix my phone!

If you can boot into TWRP, connect your phone with your PC and use 'adb reboot bootloader' to get into bootloader. Then restore to stock.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g-2014/general/restore-to-stock-t2873657
It is not necessary to relock the bootloader.
You could also retry restoring that backup, but I presume you would have already done that.

well just google
humm i wish i can help

download the factory image and flash it with fastboot.

Flash the stock factory image of the firmware available for your model. And secondly you have flashed the correct file on the wrong base firmware. Ad the process you did is wrong. To make the twrp ota work it is recommended that you flash xt1069 firmware and above that flash the ota update. Secondly use twrp 2.7 as 2.8 us having restoring issues.

Hello, thanks for the replies! I've flashed stock rom via bootloader and then flashed lollipop. It works perfectly now.
Thank you again for the replies

I'll Try It
I'll try it on my phone because I have the same problem as you.

Same problem
Hey guys! I have the same problem, but when i enter the comands "adb reboot bootloader", it says device not found.
i've all the motorla drivers installed and it's appearing USB connected on the fastboot screen.

It looks like the partition tables have been completely removed because the "failed to write primary gpt is a Linux error". Since none of the commands will access the partitions, I would guess the partitions need to be rebuilt. I don't have a clue how to do that on a mobile though.

YOU CAN NOT DOWNGRADE!!! It has been warned many times that you can not downgrade due to GPT.BIN and MOTOBOOT.IMG.
The only time it was safe was downgrading from 4.4 to 4.2.2. w/Camera Update OTA as part of the SlapMyMoto/MotoWpNoMo process for those with LOCKED bootloaders,
Based on the file name you are using (from your 2nd post), you are trying to flash the ORIGINAL SHIPPING 4.2.2 ROM which does cause a brick.
Now, based your two posts, It appears your phone is an XT1058 from Rogers Canada. Is that correct? or are you just trying to flash the Rogers Canada rom?
(If your phone really is an XT1058 from Rogers)... At this point, there are two options.
1. If you can get the phone to boot into fastboot mode, Download the 4.4.4 SBF for Rogers Canada (RCI) from -> http://www.filefactory.com/folder/dd05c058d3ff8dbe/?sort=created&order=DESC&show=100&page=1 . (NOTE: If your phone is NOT a Rogers XT1058, then download the newst SBF for your phone's carrier and model!) and use the Requirements and Option 5 from -> http://mark.cdmaforums.com/MotoX-ReturnToStock.html and hope it works. If it works, it will flash you to stock 4.4.4. At that point, you can try to re-unlock the bootloader. And never think about flashing any other older ROM again!
2. If you can't get into Fastboot mode to flash, Go to -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/general/how-to-resurrecting-bricked-moto-x-t2629057 for help.
Thanks KidJoe
You save me !!!!! thanks so much for your help !!!!! :good::good::good::good:

Moto G 2014 softbrick, should I let the phone rest in peace?

Hello, I got the MotoG 2014 from Amazon in the US, it came with Kitcat and in the first week it installed the OTA for Lollipop, and I was very happy with my purchase then after a couple of months it started to update something while on low battery and then the phone died, I was out of the US so turning it back to Amazon was not possible. I couldn't do anything from the recovery so I unlocked it and found some RETUSGLB Lollipop ROM and flashed it using fastboot and it came back to life. After two weeks, while I was using it, the screen went black, it would boot up and stay on the Motorola animated logo, again the recovery wouldn't work, so I decided to flash the same Llollipop again, but this time the fastboot flash command only worked with the "fastboot flash partition gpt.bin" all the others (motoboot, boot, logo, recovery, etc) gave me an error:
(bootloader) Failed to flash
FAILED (remote failure)
I've tried many of the recommendations of the forum to no avail, right now when I try to boot up the MotoG normally, it stays in a garbled screen, I guess the logo image is corrupt. Tried to flash a different Lollipop ROM, but it fails to flash also. I can boot to fastboot and use some commands like "fastboot oem partition" and "fastboot getvar all". I don't say the MotoG is hardbricked because when is in fastboot the pc recognizes it as Moto g 2014 . I cannot install any of the custom recoverys because the flash into recovery fails, but I can boot up Cyanogenmod recovery into ram. Tried to install an update from the external SD card using CM but it gives error messages about being unable to mount files and directories, which leads me to think that the Linux file system is corrupted. Cannot use ADB because fastboot nor CM recovery have the option. Using ADB sideload from CM gives error about being unable to mount files and directories too.
Since the MotoG is useless now, and I'm loosing hope about this phone, and I'm mad at Motorora for the cheap quality of their engineering that allowed the phone to fail in the first place. I'm thinking about the procedure I've seen on the forum, but used on the Moto G 2013, the one that wipes the bootloader and then blankflash the phone, risking a Hardbrick. Some people in the forum says that blankflash for 2013 wouldn't work on the 2014, others say it would, from the emmc standpoit both devices seems the same to me.
Sorry for the long story. Any suggestion to recover the MotoG is appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Don't know exactly what wrong.
Try this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g-2014/general/official-stock-firmware-5-0-2-lxb22-46-t3019612
It should fix your problem (There is bootloader files included in the zip file so try flashing that.)
If you think my solution isn't good enough,, wait for someone who can tell you a proper answer. Peace.
I tried your suggestion but it failed to flash as other Roms did:

[URGENT HELP NEEDED] DEVICE WON'T BOOT. please help. please, please!!!

Okay, I had a perfectly working Moto X4 (Indian Retail version), rooted and debloated. But then the idea of going back to unrooted struck me and I flashed the ROM with no problem. Then, I went back to the Bootloader (Had USB Debugging turned on and OEM Unlock "NOT" turned on in the Developer Options) and locked the bootloader by running oem lock and then, the Phone won't boot -
It gave me the message --
" Your Device is Corrupt. It can't be trusted and will not boot."
From then, I've tried reflashing the firmware - No luck.
It gives a "Permission denied" message in cmd and fails.
Unlocking the OEM worked with the get_unlock_data but then it asked me to turn on USB debugging in the developer options (and I can' boot the phone past the message).
I've tried booting into recovery, won't work - just the same message. Tried booting into the bootable TWRP - Won't work. Same message.
Fastboot erase cache erases the cache and won't do anything else.
PLEASE HELP ME. PLEASE....

At the time of posting there are only stock images available for the Retail US version of the X4. The only way to get back is to have backed up your original rom and also have "OEM Unlock" enabled in dev settings. Try contacting Lenovo and tell them your issue. They may be able to assist you by providing a stock firmware image or by having you send in your device for service.
Hi, i have just made the exact mistake you did. Did you manage to find a way to fix this?
FIX
For anyone that does get this issue i have managed to find a fix.
If you are unable to flash the official firmware (7.1.1/8.0) with locked boot loader then with fastboot enter "fastboot boot boot.img", this worked for me and i was able to get into android and enable OEM unlock to unlock the bootloader and then flash the official firmware.
I couldn't fix it. And the service center is not providing warranty since I've unlocked the bootloader and they're saying it's irreparable and asking me to change the whole motherboard of a 1 month old handset. I'll be bringing the phone back from service center tomorrow and will be trying this method

First try factory reset (in recovery).
Go into bootloader, use vol buttons till it says boot recovery. It should reboot and show an android on its back. Press power and vol up. Then go down to format. Select the bottom option. It should take a few seconds and select reboot and it mite work if not just follow the above guide.
If that doesnt work,
download the stock firmware (i used 7.1.1) it can be found all over xda.
Use fastboot to boot the boot image e.g.
fastboot boot boot.img

Then? Then it'll boot back normally?? Sorry,I don't have the phone with me yet (it's in service center).

It should start to boot, once you have booted you setup the phone and enable oem unlock in the dev options. Go back into bootloader and unlock it with fast boot (fastboot oem unlock) and if it has already been unlocked before it should unlock. If you haven't unlocked the bootloader before, now is the time to do it. Once unlocked flash stock firmware, 7.1.1 or 8.0. good luck

You could try booting to the TWRP recovery, i.e. fastboot boot TWRP.img
and then wiping data from there.

In think this depends on the firmware as oreo has encryption that does not play nice with twrp so it may not work, worth a try though.
nope. trying fastboot boot boot.img gives a <bootloader> permission denied! message and fails

Use mfastboot not fastboot, you'll have to add this to your tools. It's Motorola fastboot with proper permission.

Once unlocked flash stock firmware, 7.1.1 or 8.0. good luck

okay, set up and tried flashing, not working. even RSD Lite is giving "phone failed to switch to fastboot mode" error, even though the phone is in fastboot and is recognized as fastboot devices in cmd.
am running out of options now. damn...
any help? anyone??
please....
