[Q] Problem with MMS - G 2014 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I have configured the APN of the Motorola Moto G, according to the phone company (NOS aka WTF from Portugal), and i still can't receive or send MMS's. I even copied the APN's from my old phone, Sone Live with Walkman, and it still doesn't work. It does have fewer options, still nothing.
Is there a special configuration needed? Something i am missing? Anyone had problems? Doesn't matter if it was from Portugal or not. What did you do to get it working? Stock phone, do not want to install other apps to make it work.

Help Me!!! HTC Pure

Hello,
I am a total noob to this stuff and I am a little lost. I just recently moved to Ukraine from the states I have an HTC Pure and after many days of discussions with AT&T I finally received my unlock code so I could use it with a Ukrainian provider. Now I can receive and make calls.
I configured it to the providers specifications for data and I can receive email and check weather through the quick applications on the phones OS. However, I can not use Internet Explorer Mobile or Opera. The same goes for the tethering of the modem, I get remote pary has ended ..... which I find strange because that is same error message I got with AT&T when I had unlimited data. These would be greatly appreciated, because it is quite difficult to find a stable affordable internet source in the rural place I am at. The cell phone provider said these services are provided, but it is my phones problem and to install a fresh OS that is not AT&T. I think this probably is true since i can get email and weather.
To fix this problem I was thinking I would have to hard unlock it and install a new ROM and maybe that might work. Or maybe there could be an easier way?
Any information would be appreciated.
Thanks
So ya
So ya my hypothesis was correct and it is possible to hard unlock your pure for any pure owners out there. Once I installed Crem Da la Crem Rom my data connection and tethering worked flawlessly.

Droid 4 as a Global Phone?

Hello all,
I tried searching but couldn't find some of the info I needed on this and was hoping to get some answers here.
I have a Droid 4, I have it rooted and am running Liquid Smooth on it. So far so good, works like a charm.
I go to Brazil often and needed a phone there, so I was just going to bring my droid and insert a chip. The actual radio / phone will work, but it would not send any text messages to save its life. It wasn't a 3G / account with internet service so I couldn't even check that piece of it unfortunately.
But I was wondering if there is anything specific I need to do in order to get it to work outside the country that I'm missing. Or if it is the lack of data package, and why would calls work but not SMS?
And and all help is appreciated.
Anyone?
what do you mean insert a chip ? another sim card or so
Yep, another Sim card from another country.

k that's good
to get it to work in brazil you have to change some build.prob entries to get it work there
the telephone is not a global phone it ist locked by verizon but outside US you can use GSM Network and to get work you have to change some things
use a build.prob editor you finde some in the store
telephony.lteOnCdmaDevice=0
ro.mot.phonemode.vzwglobalphone=1
ro.telephony.default_network=3
ro.telephony.gsm-routes-us-smsc=0
ro.mot.phonemode.vzw4gphone=0
persist.radio.lte.mm.disable=1
ro.mot.lte_on_cdma=0
persist.radio.ap.phonetype=1
but it could be thet if you go back to verizon that you have to change it again

I used my Droid 4 in Germany with no problem this spring. Calls, SMS, data - everything worked. I did have a data package with the SIM, so IDK if that is necessary to send SMS. You probably have to check with the carrier....
When I logged into the network the first time the carrier automatically send me some packages to install the necessary APNs and settings via SMS and I was good to go. when I returned, I just popped in the Verizon SIM and the phone automatically reverted to the Verizon APN.
I am on rooted stock.

Since you are running a custom rom, you may want to read this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1766479

Trying to Unlock APN Settings on "Unlocked" T-Mobile LG L90 D415

Hello there,
First time poster. I've had a hell of a time trying to figure out this problem with my LG L90 D415, updated to the latest version of Lolipop, which I bought advertised as "unlocked" off eBay and intended to use with Consumer Cellular (CC), a virtual GSM network using bandwidth from the AT&T and T-Mobile networks. Such a phone is supposed to work on their network. It is now rooted and ready to go. However, I cannot change the APN settings to use data. Under settings, if I try to create a new APN with a different MNC number, the new APN will automatically be deleted. The phone is supposedly unlocked, and does seem to be so as it accepts the CC sim card and I am able to send and receive calls with it. It is now rooted using the one-click script by avicohh method.
As a side note, I also cannot send or receive text messages from anyone other than a friend who is on T-Mobile. I've contacted CC's tech support and they swear its the fact that the APN is still locked on the phone. I therefore plan to fix this problem so I can add the CC network's APN to see if it makes a difference on my phone.
I have since rooted the phone using the one-click method. I was even able to delete the T-Mobile APN entry by using a combination of BusyBox, /system/app mover, and APNManager apps. However this does not stop any APN without the T-Mobile MNC from being auto-deleted in Settings -> Mobile Network - APNs.
I have downloaded and installed the Android SDK suite in anticipation of flashing a rom onto the phone as a last resort fix. However, I cannot find a link to a rom for the D415 which I am certain does not contain the T-Mobile firmware and bloatware on it, neither on LG's website nor here.
I am hoping someone here has heard of this problem before and has an idea of what I can do to fix this frustrating APN problem caused by T-Mobile.
Have you tried this: http://forums.androidcentral.com/ve...41691-mod-add-apn-editor-system-settings.html

I just tried it. No luck, but thank you for the link. Looks like it applied to the same problem, but solved it only for an older version of Android. It will not work with my phone which has Lolipop. My problem is that the new APN entries get auto-deleted, not that they are greyed out as that link described.
I have contacted LG and T-Mobile technical support, and they keep pointing fingers at each other and cannot help me. After much insistence, T-Mobile has suggested that I go into one of their stores to solve the problem, and if a support tech cannot help me there, then I should return the phone to the vendor, which is what I intend to do.
If anyone has a clue how to unlock the APN settings on this phone, please help!

Nexus 6, T-Mobile and MMS problem

This has been a frustrating issue. My wife and I both have Nexus 6 phones. She has the 32gb & I have the 64gb version. Hers recently started not receiving MMS messages. Anything with a large picture would simply never show up. Anything with a very small graphic or group text would show up as "Non-text content". Here are the steps we've taken to solve this:
1. TMO started by insisting it was an APN issue. So she edited her APN. Didn't help.
2. We then swapped SIMs. Hmmmm. My phone then behaved like hers while hers could then send/receive MMS.
3. TMO said ok maybe it's the SIM. They sent us a new one. SAME result. Her phone wouldn't receive MMS.
4. Out of frustration, I factory reset her phone and reset the APN info. Didn't help. (Cleaned up her phone of some trash programs though. :laugh
5. TMO engineering says they still can't find anything on their end. Elevate to tech supervisor. She tells us to go a TMO store (right near us) to try a THIRD SIM. OK, we do. SAME RESULT. We tried swapping SIMs around again and the same thing happens. My SIM in her phone, everything works. Her SIM in mine, I can't receive MMS.
6. TMO store guy suggests MAYBE (but unlikely) that there is something her account has that's stored on the SIM when its activated that causes the phone to freak. Also says it's above his pay grade .
So now we are again waiting on TMO to poke around further on their end. My question for all you smart types here is:
Has anyone ever heard of this issue? Is there anything you know of that could be causing it? I think it's a bad provisioning somewhere in the dark recesses of TMO. The ONLY change we made to our plans (which seems just coincidental) is that we moved from the 2 lines Unlimited for $100 plan to the over-55 Unlimited plan. We did this maybe 3 weeks ago. But the features are all the same on both plans.
We are both on the same Android 7.0 final OTA firmware updates from Google. NBD92G
Would there be ANY chance that a sideload firmware update would make any difference? We're getting desperate here. Any & all suggestions welcome.
I wonder if her SIM is configured for wifi calling. There has been a conflict between wifi calling and mms for awhile. I've seen it reported several times where this T-Mobile forum post helps in that case
Don't use old firmware... I had issues on certain custom ROMs and old firmware where MMS wouldn't work over WiFi. Never as bad as you were getting.
If you wanna stay stock, sideload the latest OTA to go to NGI55D. Anything older than that is vulnerable to Blueborne exploit, which is a HUGE security concern IMO. I can confirm MMS is working correctly (even with WiFi enabled) on bone stock NGI55D as well as custom ROM Dirty Unicorns v11.7.1 which includes September security patch.

I've had this issue on most LOS roms. i ended up making a custom APN i flash when i try a rom built on LOS.
Yeah, it sure sounds like a problem with account partitioning, or something else with the account that gets associated with the SIM on initial use. What if you try the problem SIM in a phone that is not a Nexus 6? I wonder if you could get a new sim and set it up in a different phone, then transfer it to the problem phone?
OK all, finally got a TMO engineer who agreed with my assessment -- that it was a hidden provisioning problem. She nuked my wife's line and recreated it from scratch. Everything works great now. Frustrating that we had to go through about 15 phone calls and over 3 hours of phone time to get it resolved.

Question No APN, MMS issue

Hi all,
I'm using a global, carrier-free, unlocked S21 Ultra updated to the latest OneUI and am having an issue I can't find an answer to.
There are no APN options at all, I can't even add one or reset to default, it just tells me, "access point name settings are not available for this user". Everything besides MMS works but I can't edit anything. When I take out the sim and re-insert it, the proper APN's show up for about 5 seconds and then disappear. It's as if the phone rejects them after receiving them?
I'm on US Mobile. The sim works fine in an iPhone and OnePlus, MMS included, no tweaking involved. My better half has an older Galaxy and the MMS won't work on hers either. I have to assume it's the phone(s) considering it receives the APN and the it works fine on others.
Anyone have any ideas? I'm reaching out to US Mobile but one of the posts I found when searching around said they never figured it out and got a new phone, so I'm not too hopeful. I see they have a Galaxy specific list of instructions, which I've gone through, but it didn't change anything.
I'm have same issues where Apn settings are missing. SMG998U ON straight talk.
