Do you think we will get andrroid 5.0 for the vivid ?
I wouldn't hold your breath, but I vaguely recall a Dev saying he was slowing development on a KitKat ROM to work on a lollipop build. Still, it's just a maybe so far.

I think it's time to me to buy another phone if this phone doesn't get andro lolipop. I will maybe buy the new HTC One m9 when it will be available.
I am working on Lollipop in my spare time but as it is my last year in school I don't have much time. I have managed to make it build successfully but I am yet to get it to boot. I am getting some help some others to see if we can get it any further.
Thx for making vivid alive and for your work I like your pac kitkat rom
I think Android 5 will be the last version we will have.

Is this the phone to get? Not a fan of samsung except for the GOOGLE phones.. I have a iPhone ATM, I am a themer, and flash roms like they are going out of style. I am a huge MIUI fan, hence the iPhone. I am starting to rebrowse XDA for info regarding rom Development, considering the phone is pretty new, its taking off well?
Any input would be appreciated.
This phone is amazing and has tons of support. It has an amazing stock HTC interface and if that's not good enough for you, they're releasing a Google Edition version of this phone which means official AOSP support. Throwing MIUI on top of that would be childs play

Google edition sounds like a plan! once the kernal drops for that phone, then the sprint variant should get it too correct? Im in if thats the case. With my Phone upgrade i can get this phone for $30, not looking to pay $500 for the Google edition.
If you want to be able to show off anything except aesthetics (stats, software gimmicks, etc.), you'll probably wanna go with the S4. The One's features generally take daily use to appreciate.
There have been reports of HTC offering the Google edition software to early supporters. That and developers will definitely be able to port stock aosp from the Google edition to our phones. The hardware is almost identical!

Why not get the dev edition of the HTC one it was cheaper than the ones on contract last time I check and it had more storage

Do you guy's really think they're gonna release a Nexus Experience HTC One for Sprint? I sure don't, since they said it was for AT&T and T-Mobile only. Plus, I also don't think they're gonna release a stock AOSP Rom for this phone either. Your best bet for AOSP on the Sprint version, is gonna be CM10.1 or Carbon.
welcome back
I've been an apple geek for 20+ years, yes they had them back then...
And have really liked almost every device they've made with the exception of the iPhone. Themed/hacked and jb still doesn't compere to a rooted Android
I hope you come back.
Very sad to post this guys, but turns out the device will not be getting lollipop due to not providing an "Optimal Experience"
https://twitter.com/htc/status/592823289204047872
We will be getting 4.4.4 though which still sucks as it will take them another 3-4 months to develop it.
This sucks .. Ironic that my last device s4 mini that I sold over a year ago is getting lollipop while my new device isn't..
Well i don't trust htc .. sometimes they said something and it's totally wrong.. remember on their website they said that the One mini 2 will get Eye Experience ... And look now .. no Eye experience on our device..
So let's see
Disappointing and no M9 Mini on the horizon.... I might have to buy my first non-HTC phone.
Together with the disappointing release of the M9, this might have been the last HTC phone I've bought for a long time. I felt they had something with the M7, but since then no significant progress has been made and announcements like these certainly pushes me over the edge.
It could be 1gb ram is not enough ..
I noticed the HTC sense home update made my phone lag a lot so I uninstalled it seems much better now.
I think my next phone won't be a HTC maybe a Samsung .Samsung generally have better cams than HTC I think
Moto G is same cpu and ram and runs android 5.1 very well.
So either Sense put too much of an overhead or HTC just didn't sell enough HTC One Mini 2 to make it worth worrying about. It seemed to have been a popular phone in the UK but in US its only on one network.
Few custom roms for it either .....

Guys i run my stock rom with no lag at all .
I've made one stuff to get this kind of flying..
I will build a rom hybrid if i can get some htc apps work on cm12 rom.
I think we can get a rom close to sense 7.0 on lollipop.
I'll try that and i'll open a thread for the project .. if any dev who owned the one mini 2 can join me on this project
Stay tuned
Ps : to get more free ram to run sense with no lag i will make thread for you guys
My mini don't lag at all I'm running ur ROM will . but I've debloated all the useless apps that HTC like to put on the phone kids mode google + etc I even run the old version of google apps that let's u save maps and keep for longer than a month but as soon as I updated sense home it caused lag so I uninstalled it ..
hey guys ..
someone can make a petition on twitter or via mail to htc for release Lollipop with sense 6.0 on the HTC One mini 2 ..
i cannot believe that they pull out some device and they just left their users ...
Maybe there's still hope...
If someone can talk to them.. ask them for the lollipop .anyone who got a twitter account, send them this message about lollipop for mini 2.

I have... But they have the same sh***y PR reply stating that there won't be an "optimal performance" in Lollipop
Old tricks from HTC. The same was with Desire HD and One Sv and few more phones. Thats why i change the brand. I still like the HTC phones but not gonna buy me again. I was with HTC since the original Desire was out.
Same for me. I realy like the HTC Device looking. But the One M8 was too big for me, so i decided to take the mini 2. And now i get the same answere as i got for my old good Desire: No Update.
And they cannot tell me that Lolipop will not work on the mini2 It's simply the same hardware as the One M7 and there everything is working.
This was my last HTC and the last Android, too.
That's partially true, m7 has more ram and a different processor, but that's not an excuse in my opinion. The m7 is one year older than our mini 2... And 2nd, there has been no major update, we're still on 4.4.2, as when it was commercialized... Absurd
Just had this convo with HTC. Of course they used the same reply

I heard that LP 5.1.1 is the most stable. We are stuck in 5.0.2 on Note 4. So is my Tab S. So is my Alpha phone. All at 5.0.2
Why is Samsung so slow? I think they might have abandoned us.
Samsung screw up on Note 5 and all the updates are slow.
Its a bad company.
It's not Samsung. They updated. The update is now with US carriers. They are holding it up. Sprint, I believe, already pushed the 5.1.1 update to their phones a couple weeks ago.

I heard from an a distant uncles girlfriend, second cousins best friends brother we should be getting it very soon.
There are a few 5.1.1 custom roms available. But if you are not rooted or you need T-Mobile features, you'll have to wait for T-Mobile to push the update.
Best decision I ever made was to install a custom rom. I currently have 5.1.1 and do not have to deal with the ever slowing TouchWiz. After StageFright was announce the very next day the developer of the rom i'm currently using patched it up, the only downside is I did have to sacrifice Wi-Fi calling but soon enough Android M will come out and that will fix it.
geez cant you wait, you see the C is getting the update, and then you make unnecessary threads about the update, just be patient..
if you cant wait, ill buy your note 4 for 200$ :victory:

Been using PopRocks v10x and it is amazing, fast and stable. ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/not...procks-rom-v1-tw-rom-bases-tmo-stock-t3096286 ). Now if you want to try 5.1.1 there are many choices to choose from and can recommend them all.
Just me, but I think Samsung is in no hurry to push it 5.1.1. I guess there mentality is if they (note 4)users want 5.1.1, buy a note 5, which for me it ain't happening.
My note 4 came with 5.1.1. There should be a few customs floating around, such as TekXodus.
Samsung and the note 5 is very disappointed. I will stay on Note 4
FUN FACT:
Tmobile already has 5.1.1 and it is installed on Note 4s with the SM-N910T3. You can buy it in the store right now or warranty your phone and get it. Both of those options will be faster than waiting for the carrier to release it.
Tmobile gets a thumb down for this move. Uncarry that update Uncarrier.
5.1.1 makes this phone fly i got the sprint version . Battery life gets alot better to and fixes all the bugs. Hope you guys get it soon or start porting it from the sprint version. We have a s6 edge + rom with note 5 extras running 5.1.1 and it makes the phone feel like a new phone working theme store and all

Dang, I wish they'd send the update
So I bought a nexus off my friend today. It's the At&t variant running Android 6.0. I really can't find a definitive answer around, maybe I'm just stupid. But is there a way to root Android 6 and bring it down to Lollipop since marshmallow seems really buggy. Thank you in advance.
Well, your new phone is running a developers preview, since Marshmallow isn't released yet. In other words: your friend should be able to help you go back to Lollipop, since he/she was able to flash the preview to start with.
But, yes, it's quite easy to get Lollipop back. Flash a factory image:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/general/guide-flash-factory-images-nexus-6shamu-t2954008
This one is quite good as well:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/general/how-to-nexus-6-one-beginners-guide-t2948481
In general, the stickies at top contain a lot of useful reading.
Maybe irrelevant as well, but just so you know the final version of Android 6 is hopefully coming out really soon and being a Nexus device you should have access to it relatively soon as well

Hi -
I'm coming from the HTC One to the S6.
I've had the S6 for about a year.
I'm with AT&T.
5.1.1
SM-G920A.
I don't enjoy the bloatware anymore as it is taking up a lot of storage.
I'm curious to see if this phone could be rooted and a non-bloatware OS loaded?
I don't see much information regarding this at all.
Look at the second post in this forum under the stickies.
Sadly, you will not be able to update and tweak everything like the HTC One series phone. I had the One X, M7 and M8 and loved them all. I figured I would try the S6 because the M9 was a disappointment. I can't wait to go back to the M10 when it comes out. I hate not having timely updates and being able to tweak those same settings.
