Has anyone managed to install the official XAP files from windowsphone.com for example:

Here are the instructions for phone with an SD slot:
How do I install apps from an SD card?
It's easy to download apps and games from the Windows Phone Store and install them on your phone, but you can also transfer, or sideload, them from an SD card to your phone (if your phone supports an SD card).
To sideload an app or game, you'll need to have an SD card that contains one or more Windows Phone app files, also known as .XAP files. You can download .XAP files to your PC, and then move the files to the phone's SD card.
To download .XAP files from the Windows Phone Store on the web
Open a web browser and go to www.windowsphone.com.
Click Apps + Games, and then click the app you want to download.
Scroll down on the webpage, and then click Download and install manually (below the app requirements and supported languages).
When prompted, save the .XAP file to a location on your computer, SD card, or storage device.
Note
If you download the .XAP file to a location other than an SD card supported by your phone, you'll need to move or copy the file to an SD card to install it on your phone.
For information about moving or copying files using Windows Explorer (called File Explorer in some versions of Windows), go to the Windows website and search in the How-to section.
To install apps and games from your phone's SD card
Insert an SD card that contains one or more .XAP files into your phone.
On Start , tap Store , and then tap SD card.
Note
If you've just inserted the SD card or added the .XAP files, you might need to wait a few minutes before you can access your SD card from the Store.
Select the apps you want, and then tap Install.
Notes
Apps that can be installed are listed under Compatible apps.
You'll need to have the latest version of the .XAP file from the Store on your SD card before you can install it. If it isn't the latest version, it'll be listed under Incompatible apps.
Installed apps appear in the App list and games appear in the Games Hub. Depending on the specific app or game, you'll be able to use them as follows:
Free apps and games can be used immediately.
Paid apps and games that have a trial will be available as a trial version that you can purchase later.
Paid apps and games without a trial must be purchased before you can use them.

I have tried WPAppSender, Xap Deployer, XAPHandler and Windows Phone Device Manager to install, all fail.
Running HTC HD7 with Deepshining v8 ROM.
I must add this is to play delisted legitimately purchased games and nothing to do with piracy!
Respectfully I will answer this...
But first: IDIOT!
those instructions are for windows phone 8, It can't be applied to wp7 even with the unlocked ones.
About your intentions: Humm... I'm the idiot, because I haven't thought of that...
The solution is to get the app decrypted from Chinese sites, and then you install then with whatever way you want, I already do that to crash test some really good or bad games and apps, I like them I buy the app, if it sucks, I remove the crap and forget about it.
If you payed for it and they won't give it to you anymore, you have the right to get it in any way you like, even if they call it "illegal".
Good day, if you need more info PM me.
why does Microsodt not mention wp8 anywhere in that description?
I am even logged in to their site and it still shows my HD7 as my device in the top right corner.
And which model wp8 has an SD slot? (I have a HTC 8X)
Upper left windows phone 8, is highlighted also the link says
en-us/how-to/ wp8 /apps/how-do-i-install-apps-from-an-sd-card
about the phones:
Lumia 620, 810, 820, 822
HTC 8S
Huawei Ascend W1 and W3
Samsung I8750 and I930
ok well that sucks, heres hoping wp8 gets hacked to sh*t soon
Hi Guys,
Can Anyone guide me please how to install XAP handler in nokia lumia 520.
* I cannot install themes from the windows market
* I cannot find the XAP file on SD card or internal memory
can only find the way the fix above problem is to install xap handler BUT I couldn't, so please Guide me
Xap Handler is a WP7 homebrew app; even if you can install it on WP8 it won't work. You're wasting your time trying.
To install WP8 homebrew apps (there are a few, though most are for the ATIV S as that's the only phone that has been interop-unlocked so far) or development XAPs, use the Applicaiton Deployment tool app that comes with the WP8 SDK (same process as for WP7). To install Store apps, get them from the store directly or put them on an SD card (using your PC) and insert it into the phone; this still requires a valid license from the Store.
Oh, and FFS, search before posting. "Install XAP on WP8" is not a hard search!
Hi...
I am having problem with my Lumia 535 in installing application from SD card. I manually downloaded many apps from Microsoft site & copied it to SD card. But when i try to install it, it shows ("Can't install company app. There's a problem with company app. Contact your company's support person for help"). Also when i try to install any app from Microsoft site directly, it takes me to the login page saying "Because you're accessing sensitive info, you need to verify your password." after login when I click the Get App button i get the msg "We tried sending a download request to your phone, but we did not receive a response from your phone.
Re: Lumia 535 App installation problem
Hello there arun_9847,
I think that the type of SD card that you are using might not be supported by Lumia 535 unless; it’s a class 4 SD card. Nonetheless, I hope these below-mentioned links can help you sort your problem. I would also suggest that you keep the Mobile Network activated and your phone connected to the PC or Laptop using a USB cable while installing the apps from your SD Card.
appsforlumia.com/how-to-install-applications-from-my-sd-card/
windowsphone.com/en-in/how-to/wp8/apps/how-do-i-install-apps-from-an-sd-card
microsoft.com/en-in/mobile/support/product/lumia535-dual-sim/smartguidance/?action=singleTopic&topic=GUID-16ADFF26-E34A-429F-A6BF-9D9826C1D7BF-8_10_1
In case if these above links do not help, you should visit a nearby Lumia store.
If the apps are Store apps (i.e. you downloaded them from windowsphone.com) just use the Store on the phone. You can download apps right there, or you can install them off of the SD card from there too (expand the App Bar at the bottom, choose "install local apps").
If they are company apps (from your employer or something), you need to open them on the phone. If they're already in your phone's SD card, use a file browser (there isn't one built in, but there are a bunch of free ones on the store) to open the .XAP files (same way you'd open a .doc file in Word). Alternatively, visit the website on the phone and download them that way; this will let you open the apps (and install them) directly. You could also email them to yourself, and open the attachments on the phone. Again, this only works for company apps.
If they are developer apps (i.e. not yet published), you have to use the Windows Phone Application Deployment tool (it's free, but it's part of the Windows Phone SDK, which is a big download). Connect the phone via USB, open the deployment tool, select the .XAP file to install, and hit the Install button.

If you manually download apps from microsoft store then copy it to your sd card and then open store then open menu in menu select install local apps it will show the apps compatible with your device.
If the app you are trying to install is of older version it will detect it as not compatible.
And when you try to install from windows store it ask for your password cause someone might try to download paid apps from your account and which might cause you money.
and make sure you turn on "send apps directly to my phone via push notification" this can be found under find my phone setting
Does anyone have the vevo xap for sideloading? I don't want to lose the app when I change phones or do a factory reset :'(
sent from my denim licious orange nokia 930
Does it even still work? Sounded like they were dropping support for it, not merely de-listing the app.
Not that it would surprise me if it does; I never installed it in the first place so I can't check.
It still works
Everyone advises to just not uninstall it from your phone but what happens if I need to do a hard reset or when I buy my next device?Someone has to have an unsigned xap. I asked Rafael on twitter but because its such public forum he didn't respond but he sometimes drops xaps that are able to side load kong after they're gone
So does anyone have the vevo xap?
i have the xap
@GoodDayToDie if I email it to you can you crack it?
If it's pulled right off the phone, sure; that's a really simple change.
If it's pulled off the store (DRM encrypted) then no, that's an excruciatingly complex wall of nonsense.
ok here it is

the xap posted cant be patched.
only one from the phone can be patched.
does anyone else have the app on their phone?
If you have the app on you phone will you please patch it? I'll even donate!
ok the app is on my phone can i patch it? also i have an old patched xap too
@ceesheim @GoodDayToDie @thals1992
ok I have the app on 2 of my phones an HTC 8X and a nokia 930, I read a tutorial to patch an xap but you need a phone with an sd card, is that the way to get the app off my phone, but neither have sd card slots, with that being said is there still a way to patch the app that's on these phones? I am also uploading an old wp7 version of the vevo app that I downloaded off of winphonhub, its patched and works fairly well with occasional error message, can this patched xap help you patch a more current one?
also id like to add I have 2 windows phones 635 and 830 with sd card slots, this may sound like a silly question, can I put the current marketplace xap onto the sd card and patch it from within the phone? or does it need to be installed on the phone too as well? (which unfortunately they are not installed on my sd card slot phones)

it MUST be installed on a phone with an sd card so that you can move the app to the sd card, then you can get the app of the phone and patch it.
if it isn't installed on your 830 then the xap only will not help you because the market place checks if the app is there , if it isn't then it will not let you install the the app
there are some hardcore ways to get the app of your x8 but that is only for real advanced users like @compu829 , because you need to actually brick your phone to enable mass storage mode . there are some threads about that.
@noelito if you upgrade your L930 to Windows Phone 10, there is a simple way for you to get the xap off of the device for backup!
i can definitely upgrade the L930 to w10 tp
@compu829 ok how to back up the xap? where is the tutorial? I am looking for the way to upgrade non supported devcies to windows 10 phones, I should be good to go because I have noupgrade the windows insider app
is this the link? and when do i do the back up / extract?
ok I found this thread @compu829
http://forum.xda-developers.com/windows-10/general/howto-install-windows-10-phones-t3030105
do I follow the instructions on this thread to install windows 10 on my 930?
however at what point am I able to extract the vevo app and patch, when do I do that?
I was thinking about having you update your phone and then using the following trick to access c:\ on the phone: http://forum.xda-developers.com/win...ranted-c-access-windows-10-technical-t3032766 I know that your model is supported in the next version of the preview when it is released.
@compu829 yes I read the Lumia icon will be supported for windows 10 tp but they didn't mention 930 could have been inadvertently left out, I think I have done this before, if you are able to give step by step instructions im even open to doing a remote access to my PC if you wanted to do it for me or guide me as I go a long doing it
I remember when @djamol released the "root tool" app to the Windows store, which requires you to install it on SD Card, then to use the registry editor, you actually need to replace the files inside the XAP, which is quite genius
Anyways, I was thinking if the same trick done on root tool can be done on the old version of Extras + Info app too before Microsoft decides to remove its ability to move it to SD Card...
Modifying the WMAppManifest.xml inside the old XAP (removing anything related to interopservices to avoid throwing Error 0x81030120), set storage sense to SD Card, deploy app with App Deployment 8.1, then after deploying it, manually replace the modified XML file with the original untouched one (yes, the one with ID_CAP_INTEROPSERVICES and such) on SD Card with a PC (needs to unlock WPSystem folder first, we already did this in the past... ) open the app and see if Extras + Info still works and if yes, BOOTSTRAP vcReg and Interop unlock your device right away!
This might actually work! Someone should try this!
@djamol @vcfan @WojtasXda please take a look at this and see if it might actually work . We might be able to Interop Unlock WP8.1 again even after that Extras + Info app update lol XD

Here's what I mean...
1. Modify the old Extras + Info app's WMAppManifest.xml file, removing every capability that requires Interop unlock first before actually sideloading the app.
2. Sideload the app to Lumia, with storage sense set it to SD Card.
3 . After sideload, check if Extras + Info app is installed on Settings but don't open it just yet.
4. Remove SD Card, insert it to PC, access WPSystem folder and find where the Extras + Info app is installed...
5. Once found, swap the modified WMAppManifest.xml file with the original unmodified one (yes, the one that had ID_CAP_INTEROPSERVICES and any capabilities OEM can only achieve)
6. Return SD Card to phone, and see if Extras + Info app opens... If it does open, Bootstrap vcReg.
7. After bootstrap, open Extras + Info and see if vcReg does run

I've suggested this idea more than a year ago, but I heard from GDTD that it doesn't work as the WMAppManifest capabilities are only checked on deployment. Changing it after deployment would not work. Which is why they use the Preview for Developers app. It already has Interop capabilities and changing the manifest afterwards would not work, so they change the contents of the app instead, as this way any interop functions would work.
This is the current method now. You install an Interop app from the store and change the content.

You know the root tool app released on store by @djamol ? The original WMAppManifest doesn't have any capabilities that enables it to read and write to the registry but after swapping the WMAppManifest file with the one that had interop capabilities, the app now works as what its intended.....
