Hi.
Yesterday I bought a P7-L10.
For what I read, it's a single sim phone, but since there are several versions, but some say they are all the same, could there be any mod that could turn my L-10 into a dual-sim phone?
Thanks in advance for your answers
No-one replied and I doubt they will.
The short answer is no you cant.
The long technical answer is the phone is made with certain hardware I would ask you first how do you think a mod would work try to think that one through logically.
The phone only has one simcard slot and one antenna and the software / drivers is compiled and installed accordingly.
If you think you can just buy a usb simcard adaptor and magically turn the device into dual sim it doesn't work that way.
And if you didn't want a external device connected by your usb plug you would need to modify the internal phones SMD surface mounted hardware and thats not easy when they are built on robotic machines as you can see in this video.
Think about rooting all system level things is behind root and the rom would need to be modified for such functionality if it even existed.
Also the actual hardware and eproms inside the phone isn't designed or coded to work this way even if there is a usb simcard adaptor.
There is a modula phone in concept Project Ara by Google and another phone had a kickstarter that failed to get the concept of the ground and this could be the only way to do it in the future if the concept is realised.
Thats the basics of it simple and technical wise.

This is not entirely true.
Huawei suggested there was dual-SIM capability in the Ascend P7 at its launch, with a second SIM supposedly able to sit in the SD card slot if you value connectivity over storage space.

That is true for the dual Sim models like L00 that I use as I do use 2 sims.
The question was how to mod his single sim phone L10 to dual Sim which I answered correctly as the single Sim models hardware is lacking the physical bits and drivers in the kernel etc for a second Sim card likewise how the L00 lacks the internal hardware components and drivers in the kernel for NFC, this is also why the Roms are incompatible between models as well as different components like the radio freq for different regions which they all use different kernel drivers.
It would be the same if a L00 user asked how to mod NFC into his phone when there is no physical tag reader component on the circuit board.
The question was not if the p7 came in a dual Sim variant.
I was also correct on project Ara concept as no phone currently available in the world let's you change internal components like upgrade or swap your camera from 8mp to 15mp or swap in in a screen with higher DPI, memory or internal storage or even swap the sdcard module for a second Sim or something.
It's a concept Google and some others are looking at our of interest just because they can.
i think drguild is right. may be the same reason why huawei didn't include the L-10 to the list of phones that will recieve OTA firmware upgrade., Only the L-10 phone can't use dual sim., it doesn't even have any features or some sort of settings for it., even if the micro SD slot can adopt the nano sim. it seems that it doesn't have a way to operate it.,
this is not a down for this phone. single sim phone has lot of advantages than dual sim phone. like battery consumption., and phone speed.
some samsung models can enable single sim to dual sim. like s7. some asus phones can changing sim module to dual enabling dual sim but with single imei. i have damaged p7 single sim i tired change sdcard slot to dual sim holder but does not worked.

I have a work SIM and a private SIM and really do not want to carry two phones around. In my previous two models of regular (not-smart) phones I used one of those dualsim cards where you cut our the center of each sim and slip them into a new sim card with some extra electronics on it. You can then switch between the sims with a couple of key presses or even at automatic time intervals. eg. http://duosim.com/
OK, so I have two different makes of this type of dual-sim card and tried each one in the 750. The switching program shows up in the phones menu and it looks like it is going to work but it does not. When you try to switch to the second sim, the phone switches off and back on, but the the phone is still using the first sim.
I really want to find a way to get this to work. I have ordered one of those multi-sim card cloners (same link as above), in the hope that will work differently.
Has anyone found a solution to this ? Either a particular make of dual-sim or multi-sim cloner that works or maybe a tweak to get past the above mentioned problem ?

Hi gajsler,
I found myself being in the same situation: Want to use both office and private Sims with my Treo.
After some research I can say that it depends mostly on the combination of SIMs you are using. If you are using any UMTS/3G SIMs then a digital DualSim-application wouldn't do trick, especially if you are using a H3G-SIM (Hutchison 3G).
You will need an analog DualSim-holder for these SIMs.
I've got one from HongKong (Ghost SIM, no cutting) but it doesn't work correctly. Only the first SIM card is being used ... don't know how to get past this issue.
Seems to be tricky. Will post any additional experiences.
Greetz,
TreMax

I was wondering this same thing but then when I stopped and thought about it, I thought, how could you switch between sim cards or are both phone numbers active all the time?
I don't think dual active is supported in OS level..
However if only switching between cards, there are writable SIMs that can switch network through SIM Toolkit menu.
check the wizard, wm6 thread for ocatvoi's 4.9, it has support for dualsim
i saw that just now ... its important that it keeps both of sim cards active or not ?!
When I had my nokia 3360, there was a company that made a back plate with 2 sim slots.. had a ribbon cable with a "simcard" attatched to it to slide into the sim slot. Do not know about both being active at the same time tho.
yeah , china made it at 20 $ and taiwan made it at 25 $
its fare !
my understanding is that you can only make one sim active at a time, you need 2 different radio's if you need real time active dual sim
Hello
Did some one uses dual sim card adpaptor for using 2 number at the same time online ? with the Himalaya ? if so, which ? Thanks
Hey,
I think it should be possible. The most dualsim adapters are changing the sim card after a reboot.
have a nice day,
gustl

It is NOT possible to use 2 numbers online at the SAME time with only ONE Receiver Transmitter Unit. Its just technically impossible.
You can use a Dual (multiple) SIM-Adaptor , but there is only ONE sime at the time active. You can change the active SIM by disactivating/activating Radio or by a tool.
It's possible to use a dual-SIM adapter on all and any phones (in theory), and it functions exactly as what gustl has said. But the hard part is finding the right one so it fits in to the back of the phone. GL finding the right one that can fit right on the Hima, considering how tightly packed the back of the Himalaya is.
But i think the question was in deed it is possible to habe two numbers online at the SAME time, with a dual Sim Adaptor, and this is NOT possible.
There are some phones in the Market with two GSM Units. They all have the same problem double GSM Units equals double Power consuption, your standby time decreases dramatically.
Using a Dual SIM Adaptor is a good alternative two have possibilty to change between two Sim Cards, BUT there is only ONE Oneline at a time. (What should be good enough for 99% of us). If you really need a second SIM active i would prefer a small second mobile. (Just my 2 cents)
Dual SIM adapters use SIM toolkit to switch between SIM's. As there is no working STK for WM6.1 on Hima it will NOT work.
Possible for 2 sims to be toggled at one go using dual sim adapter
Sorry for posting this reply a bit late, just came across this thread today. With regards to your query as to whether dual sim adapter will be able to toggle 2 SIMS at one go, my answer is yes. I've done it before with my O2 XDA II but unfortunately I’m unable to do it now once I upgraded my rom to 1.60.00 WWE. Only one rom version for himalaya will be able to do it but till now I'm unable to locate it. The version I'm referring to is 1.52.00 WWE. If anyone happen to have or stumble upon this rom, appreciate if you could either upload it or point it to me as where I can locate it.
I was trying to find a good rate for a flatrate AND telephone costs - but somehow either on or the other sucks for me. I heard of phones which have dual sim, but the Galaxy has only one slot, so an idea came up:
Would it be somehow possible to backup a sim card and simulate it much like cdrom drives etc can be simulated on a pc? Possibly not I guess since it is read by hardware and all that stuff is hardwired, but I don't really know about this much so I wanted to ask you guys who know alot about the internals of the phones.
Its just a crazy idea ... it would probably not be "allowed" either but I'm just interested =)
the galaxy s has a setting that i noticed before it says ''dual sim - no'' was in txt document somewhere in system. what you propose would be a major security issue i certainly wouldnt want anyone else to get my cloned sim so such apps should never be made. you can buy a dual sim adapter they even support 3g and are pretty cheap you can take look at few here browse to second item.

Even if it could be done, it would certainly be illegal. The developer who made this possible will face lawsuits from all the major (and perhaps the smaller one as well) carriers.
This would be great feature/software and not only for illegal things. For example - I have a phone, which has something broken in SIM card reader - it gives me "No Sim card in Phone" whatever SIM I use... So with such software I could make an image of my valid SIM card on another phone and would be able to use it with "half-broken" phone
Unfortunately, this is not possible at the moment and my phone is almost useless
Hey all, so looking at the sim trays for the p20 lite and the pro they seem almost identical, with the p20 like sd one looking a bit longer than the dual sim version (which matches the p20 pro one from the images I can find).
It makes sense in my mind that they would have a similar board and internal layout to save on production cost of the different models, so I'm wondering if anyone has tried the p20 lite tray in the p20 pro. I do see more contacts than just a single sim would need, however there is a dual sim model of the phone, I can't get a good enough view to see if there are any that mach up with an sd card.
I've been googling and can't seem to find any evidence of anyone else suggesting or trying this. I would greatly love to be able to put my sizeable music collection on an sd card for this phone, I knew when upgrading that it was pretty much a given that it wouldn't have a micro sd card slot but I wonder if this has potential to work, especially after discovering my music collection is larger than I thought, and with the difficulty I'm having copying it to this device, where if it had an sd card tray, I could just pop it in.
Simply, no. There is no micro SD card tray for P20 and P20 pro...

Has it actually been tried? There is also the mate 20, which looks similar, but there aren't nearly as many pictures to compare the two types.
The ifixit teardown pictures are relatively unhelpful in trying to see if there are also sd card contacts physically present.
I sell these phones at work. No it doesn't work (I did try just on the of chance you were correct) they are completely different internally.

Well, that's a shame.
You cant put micro usb to type C port. Its the same with this, the port is for a sim, not for a microSD card. )

That's a horrible example, that situation is a ridiculous one, whereas manufacturers will often share parts between the same line of phones, it's cheaper to do that because you need less board revisions, you don't change the assembly line nearly as much, and you don't need to buy different parts, in this case it would be the physical pin assembly that would have the contacts for the sd card. This is already obvious since they ship the single sim units with a different tray, but you can root the phone and there's some sort of paid service to enable the second sim.
