Battery completely discharged and now the phone does not charge, there is not even LED indicator light. I have tried all suggested button pressing combinations, taking battery out, etc. — to no avail. The firmware is original, without rooting. Charger works fine.
Before the battery discharged, there was a notice on the phone that an update was available — I ignored it while roaming — could that be the problem?
Shall appreciate any suggestions.

Plug it in and leave it for some time. The led takes a little time to light up. If it doesn't work then as long as your charger is ok the battery have died. Either buy a new battery or buy a new phone.

A new phone is, I guess, the best solution... But still I am curious what has happened — are there any geeks up there who know?

hey,
I have an xperia black on the latest official rom. r3a (something)
just a few hours ago the phone was automatically switched off,
it was fully charged and it just went blank.
i tried switching it back on but no luck.
just one time it was powered on and was stuck at the XPERIA screen for 3-4 minutes and then again went blank.
when i connect to pc , my pc says usb device not recognized and keeps detecting my device.
now i have connected the phone to the wall and the red power led blinks after 20 seconds. when i press the power button the side leds dont blink or respond, just the top one blinks after 20 sec. the battery is cold.
i tried reinserting the battery alot of times and then put it back to chg for 30 mins, still no luck.
i searched alot but didnt find a solution. please help
hehe it is an expensive buy........
charge the battery using wall charger for the whole day and then turn it on - your battery must have died compleatly somehow and this happens to loads of people if the charge gets too low

No I haven't. But if this happened to me, I would be back at the place where I bought it in no time!
See if you can use someone else's battery to see if the X1 still works with that. This sounds like a seriously dead battery which needs to be replaced.
Good luck!
Calm down. Most people visit the forume once a day or less. You can't expect them to answer right away.
Your problem afaik is that the phone can't detect the battery. Read this and tell us if it helped you.

maybe it is a case of dead battery....
my question is , can the battery be dead instantly, because it was fully chged and suddenly it was all blank.?

I don't think that is possible. It probably is a hardware fault in the phone itself. Maybe a connector or something burned itself out. Unfortunatelly that can be fixed only by professionals.
My advice is to take the battery out for a couple of hours, then put it back and let it charge. If there is no response after the charging go to a repair shop .
Keep us informed on how it goes .
well i went to the company today, the one who deals with the warranty and they refused to take the phone under warranty saying that the phone looks drop dead, ( i have quite a few of them scrathes on the back)
i dont know how he asumed that it has been dropped, anyhow i was disappointed and took it to a local repair shop and they checked it with another battery and still no luck so they said they will have to flash the phone and it will be ok.
BUT!!!
when i came home i just blew on the battery terminal on the phone and inserted the battery and the phone switched on YESSSS!!!, but after some time it was halt again and was switched off, now sometimes it comes on and sometimes it doesnt, when ever i blow on the terminals it comes on otherwise it wont.
can it be the case of moisture inside the phone?
because the day it faulted, that day i was sweating and i had the phone in may pocket.
if yes please whats the solution.?
thanks in advance
ps
the phone is also very slow to boot
the screen is also flicking a little
the red light under the power button is telling u that the battery has run out. if u get it with a fully charged battery it either means the battery is dead (in the sense that if will never charge or hold its charge etc) or the handset is buggered. best bet is to phone SE and get the phone fixed or battery replace (u will probably have to send the phone and battery to repair but SE might have a way to test if its the battery or phone).
also there may be a prob with the connection from the handset to the battery.
During installation of ROM update, my phone stopped and it doesn't start.
I think it is because of battery.
There wasnt enough battery and i think it dried out.
Now I know that it had to have at least 50% of charge but it is too late for that. (i had stg like 40% of charge)
Is there any way to charge it and install new ROM?
I tried to charge it during the night and nothing happened.
also I removed the battery during one day and I tried charge it again and it didnt work either.
please help.
Thanks

From what I remember was that if you're lesser than 50% of battery it won't let you continue the flashing. So I'm quite positive that it is not battery issue.
I tried once flashing at 48% and it says my battery is less than 50%.
find a friend who has a fully charged blackstone battery, borrow this, and try do a hard reset.

If you don't have a friend with a Blackstone then head for a Phone shop (that sell them) and ask if you can just use the battery from their DEMO model for a few minutes. Pop it in and try a hard reset. At least you will n=know if you have a dead battery or not.

You don't need to borrow someone elses battery. Take out battery and connect device to charger without battery. Phone should still turn on, enter bootloader, hard reset etc. If you cannot do any of this then its not a battery issue

Are you able to do anything with phone? When you connect device to charger with/without battery does led light come on? Does phone make any sounds as if turning on/booting up but screen is just black?
If you are unable to do anything with device, try taking battery out and leaving device overnight, then re-insert it before trying to turn it on again.

i think i needto find out how to install bios to my phone.
i dont know if there is a bios for phones.
is it possible to install stg / bios when we cannot get into bootloader or do a hard reset ?
There's no BIOS on the phone per say, there's a comparable portion of firmware, but normally it can't be upgraded/replaced if the phone is not booting.
Your best bet is to send it to repairs, make up a reason why it failed (e.g. stopped working unexpectedly, never turned on after removing the battery) and hope they will fix/replace it under warranty terms.
If you are into having some intimate relationship with your phone, look around for Blackstone JTAG.
I've looked all over. And I've tried everything.
This is what happened to my Xperia. it was 29% before I went to bed. When I woke up the next day, it was completely dead. No lights, no anything. I've tried charging it for 24 hours, I've tried charging the battery through an external charger, I've waited 2 days to power it on again. I've also tried that hard reset trick on one thread here. No go. I'm frustrated. Does anyone know any way this could be fixed and why did this happen?

Is it possible for the battery to just die like that without any warning? My battery was okay before this problem. I've tried it with an external charger and it charges.
It could be the charging circuit itself.
I recall a similar thing happening to me on another HTC phone, sorry I can't recall the details (but it was beyond my skills to repair it, and it was an old phone by then). A friendly technical centre could help you with that diagnosis.
At least you can get a desktop charger that will charge the battery up without it having to be inside the phone , if that is the case.

I've tried charging without the phone. External charger or desktop charger. Doesn't work either.
Sounds weird, but did you try to hold down the power button for a few seconds to let x1 on? Sometimes I have that too when the battery goes empty and the phone goes off. It doesnt open immediately when I press the button, but have to hold down the power button for a few seconds and than release. Try that for about 5 times. If noting happens, than its not the same problem that I have.

Usually I get around 2-3 days of battery backup(on standby). Now my xperia is not switching on. Can anyone suggest some solution for our problem...I am now charging the battery using wall charger, but i dont see any battery charging notifications.

Hi,
I have a rooted N1 and has suddenly dead.
The device was fully charged and powered off after half an hour.
I pulled the baterry and tried any button combinations, tried to charge even through USB. The device doesn't boot up, it doesn't start and I can't see the google logo, the charging LED doesn't lights up either.
Is my mobile bricked?
How has the modible been working for months after flashing the ROM and stop working?
Thank you.
Maybe the phone bricked... Or something in the phone broke. Try the reset combination again and try leaving it out of battery or power cable for some minutes
Hope I helped

Hi,
The phone is roughly 4 years old and I haven't had any issue with its battery. In fact, I already have another phone and its battery lasts much less than the N1's. The battery was charged 30 minutes before the mobile dead.
I didn't know the mobile could get bricked even it works for so long time.
Thank you.

You can try to see if your battery is still alive / if your phone's display is working . I found a thread where the guy did a lot of stuff to his phone to cause the problem. I presume your phone was not subjected to any damage recently?

It's hard to find other guy with the same phone model. It's clera that N1 was a bad business for Google.
I tried another battery and it worked out.
What I really can't understand how people say that my phone could be bricked if it doesn't boot up and the charging LED doesn¡t light, is that possible?, how could I unbrick my phone whether I can't boot it up?
I'm sorry about my ignorance in the mobile phone's world?
My phone has water damage. I currently have it in a bag of rice to hopefully bring it back to life. After a few hours I plugged it in to see if that would help, and I it had a strange activity. The LED in the phone handset was lit and green. I never rooted it to enable the LED. Any advice would be great!
PS: Sorry if this post is not the most coherent. I am currently very hungover, and having problems functioning. Also, I have no idea how my phone got wet! Happy Sunday to me!

Fingers (and toes) crossed!!
You should've let it rest on rice for like one day.
On the good side, the moto x is kind of water proof.

The screen is now on and showing 0% battery. It has been plugged in for hours now with no change in level. I was able to get into FastBoot, however any option I choose results in the phone rebooting back to the battery charge level screen.
Thanks for the help!
*Update 2*
I plugged my phone into my cars 2.1 amp charger and after 20min or so it showed 100% battery. The phone booted, however it did not complete and turned off. When it did It read 0% once more. I have tried volume down and power for 3 mins with no result. Any more tips?

I pulled the back over off and held the battery ribbon down. LIFE!! Phone displayed 100% and it was running fine. However, when I removed it from power it shut off immediately.

I thought so too. I let it charge over night while it was cycling the boot screen, and when I awoke it was perfect. Battery 100% and turned on without issue. I understand letting your battery hit 0% is bad, but having it completely malfunction for 24+ hrs is rather poor play on Motorola's behalf.
How do you know that it's moto's fault?
Perhaps there was still some water left in your device?
This took longer to dry and caused the malfunction...
Don't judge so quickly!
I tell you this, because I had a motorola x with the same problem, the solution was to change the battery. Solved, try another battery
Dropping phone in water and having issues after is Moto's fault....? :silly:
I'll add... Water can and usually does wreak havoc on these things. Anything can go wrong after. Usually I'd say move on. Don't waste time or money trying to fix it.
You maybe were lucky. :good: But to suggest it's Moto's fault is crazy. Lol My X has died many times and 30 seconds on the charger and it boots. Anything you experienced was from the water.... Not a defect.

You put your phone in water, then turned it on again after only trying to dry it for a VERY short time. Bit amazing it even worked, and your complaining because it worked but only after drying?
Jesus man.
Pretty sure LIthium Ion batteries don't like going down near zero. Even when your phone says zero% and the phone automatically turns off it still isn't completely discharged.
I've let my nexus 7, and game controllers sit unused for a while. When you try to use them again they need a really long charge before they will work again.
The water probably put a load across the battery and nearly completely discharged it.
I actually just went thru this. I did the old school battery calibration using NeMa's app in the play store. Says to discharge 100%.. Phew lol. I was stressed. I had the same problems as above
