Hi! Im a little newbie but still trying . Sadly Sony abandoned us with a laggy compilation of happy thoughts. I my Sp have both root and recovery installed to delete bloatware. Im stuck with .205 stock and probably wont receive .207 anytime soon, so now that sony won't release kitkat its time for CUSTOM ROMS yeah!. I wanted to try the lastest release on nightly, the snapshot is like 2 months old (don't know if matters but for tweakers we have to test until we are happy )
Sadly for any rom, I need to unlock my bootloader but i can't. when i type the #*#*xxxx, says NO to unlockable bootloader, and when I use Flashtool doesn't work, still says that my device cannot be unlocked :S. Is there anyway to unlock the bootloader? Saw some solutions about flashing without unlocking but im afraid to brick the phone xd
I need some big help! will be appreciated ;D

When It says NO you cant. It was so many times before. Just search.
When You cant unlock your BL, use CM11 for Locked BL. Simple.

But i saw that some of the LBL have many bugs on forums. What i need is that can run some demanding games like real racing 3 and Wi-fi Hotspot working. Is there anyone you can recommend based on cm11 m11?

Hey guys, I am fairly new to the android phones, (recently came from an iPhone) but I had heard so much about the freedoms with the Android os so I decided to switch.
I purchased the Sony Xperia T (LT30a) locked on the Bell mobility LTE network. I have really wanted to unlock the bootloader, so when I went in to check it said "Bootloader Unlock Allowed: NO". after some searching I read that it was my carrier preventing the bootloader from being unlocked, and that if I followed the following simple steps, it would change the message to :"Bootloader Unlock Allowed: YES". so here is what I did:
1. Flashed a Generic firmware to my phone (ICS it was a uk generic) which then changed my model number in "About phone" from LT30a to LT30p and removed all the bell branding.
2. Using an IMEI number, i was able to get an unlock code and unlocked the phones sim card to work on any network, and have tested and it does work.
the problem I am having is that even after doing this, the bootloader is still "locked" and can not be unlocked. I have taken a look at the methods for the test pin, but that involves removing the battery to view the motherboard, which sucks because this phone the battery is not removable. if anyone know a free or paid way to unlock the bootloader on the Xperia T LT30a or LT30p models, please let me know! thanks.
I dont know where you read that, but it is wrong and there is no way to change that message.
If it says no, then your bootloader can not be unlocked.
Its not Sony's fault, its not googles fault, its Bells fault for being a dev unfriendly provider.
Test point method will not work even if we could remove the battery, that loophole has been closed in 2012 devices.

You can only install stock based custom roms because you wony be able to flash a custom kernel with a locked bootloader. Therefore there is no hope for cyanogenmod, AOKP or MUIU
There are several in the Dev section to choose from, ranging from early ICS firmwares to the latest JB firmware.
I dont recommend Roms (Even my own) as choosing a rom should be a personal thing, but the I am currently on Timin8rs rooted and deodexed JB rom which you can flash.
You will need to root your phone in order to flash a recovery, then flash the .zip for the rom using that recovery.
Find all instructions for doing that in the All in one thread. Its the first thread in the Q&A section.
good luck and if you need extra help after reading up on what you need to do then ask. But remember to read up first!

thank you very much! hopefully sometime in the near future they come out with a way to fix this problem, and believe me, I do not blame sony at all for this
Sorry for the double post! But I just wanted to say, that if anyone needs help testing different roms and/or ways of unlocking a locked bootloader, I do have a sim unlocked xperia T and just wanted to throw this out, but if sony does not "perma lock" the bootloader, and if it is infact the carrier, then would this not prove that it is sonething in the firmware? I spoke with my sister who is a manager for a bell store here, acording to her, Bell is not authorized to open, or attempt to fix this phone, it is simply sent to sony for repairs.. Just makes me wonder because if Bell can not open the phone, then they must have used some sort of software.. I have always thought of software as "semi-permenant" that it can be reversed , and that its only a matter of figuring out how to reverse it?

Hello, i have old xperia X8, with CM7 alpha 1 version. I want something new faster.
I was trying instal http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1836116
but all time i was failed to check bootloader unlock, when i was trying to check status with *#*#3738423#*#* it just blink and nothing happen, i was trying with my sony and its working i can check status.
Maybe that means my bootloader unlocked? because i have allready instaled rom?
if your bootloader is unlocked, you would know because you'd have to be the one to do it or paid/asked someone to do it for you. check with s1tool. there's a thread regarding bootloader unlocking.
Just because i don't doesn't mean i can't.

correct. your bootloader is locked. if you're planning to unlock it check the date at the back of the phone first.

If it's higher than 11w29, not trying to unlock is recommended, as the chance of having a hard brick is extremely high. Not saying that it's impossible to unlock after that number, there are several people who did it, but I wouldn't try it unless you think you have nothing to lose. It's very difficult to repair the phone by yourself if a hard brick was to happen this way (you need some technical knowledge to do so).
Several things to keep in mind:
- Do not look for the number on the battery, but on the sticker beneath the battery.
- 11w29 means 2011, week 29, so basically it's possible for you to have 12w25 or something, denoting year 2012, week 25. If you keep an eye on the second number only you would thing unlocking bootloader is safe, but it isn't. It's still well over 11w29.
As for the ROM to install, I already recommended these two in another topic:
2.2 - FroyoPro v2.5
2.3 - GingerDX v031b
Both work very well with custom kernels.
Maybe you can recomend anything to instal without bootloader unlock ? or its not impossible ? just put any rom to SD card open with CWM instal and use.

gongerdx if you want gb. froyobread for froyo. there are other roms for stock kernel, you can try them to see which one suits you.

Both of these run well with stock kernel. I run FroyoPro with stock and I'm very satisfied.
For others, I suggest you search the forums a bit or Google them out. There are lots of ROMs to choose from.
Hey guys,
I unlocked my bootloader some months ago (my Z1 came with stock 4.3) and use SlimKat (weekly ATM) since then.
Now that the official 4.4 update is released, I wonder if there are any advantages (like better cam, wifi, newer modem) from locking the BL, installing stock 4.4 and unlocking BL again, to go back to a custom ROM.
I come from a Samsung device where you could update e.g. the modem/baseband seperately and I understand that in Sony devices all these things are fix in bootloader.
Thanks for your help!
You don't have to relock your bootloader, just flash 4.4 via Flashtool v0.9.14. The step of relock and unlock the Bootlader after flash 4.4 have no benefits at all, just waste of time.
BTW, via Flashtool you can flash baseband only, if you want.
Hey eclyptos, thanks for your reply and the tip. But if do this, does this have any advantages like I stated in the OP?

Having your locked bootloader does not involve some enhancements in photo quality? apart of the bravia engine and other things...
I believed that there were issues with camera quality on UB (that is why I haven't done it yet), so if there are no advantages, I might be unlocking it really soon...

I want remind you first to DO NOT Relock Bootloader on Custom Kernels because you will brick your phone. So if you asking about Kitkat 4.4 itself and not bootloader, then I can say, you have to try it because is the newest Version of 4.4.2, last update of Slimkat was 3th March. Some improvement was made like in Pictures and Smoothness but very tiny difference so is up to you.
About Bootloader, if you asking, the only advantage you will get in Relock Bootlader if you will keep it locked so everything will work like it should, but if you want to Unlocking again after update then don't relock it in first place because it's a waste of time, it will be the same.

Somebody see differences, somebody doesn't. I try to keep it locked until something really amazing don't come out or will encrease the developing section for Z1.

Read so many articles, watched several videos on YT, but i cannot get it working.
Most of instruction will say TurnOff phone, turno on, wait for led and keep pressing volume up, problem is LED is not lit at all on my phone.
I also tried to reboot to recover via ADB , phone will just restart.
Any ideas?

You need to have a custom recovery installed to access that feature.... Do you have one installed?

Tried to install dual recover for locked bootloader too,.. same thing, flashed successfully (at least it was saying that) and cant do nothing.
This is my 5th Android phone, and it is biggest pain to unlock/root/flash so far.

No you can't. Custom roms like PA, OMNI, Cyanogenmod need a custom kernel. It is not possible to flash a custom kernel on a locked bootloader. You can still flash stock based roms though. If you search in the development section you will find some. They are marked with "LB"

Correct.
You can check it in service menu if you bootloader is unlockable. Open dialer and enter *#*#7378423#*#*
Go to service info > configuratoin. If it shows "bootloader unlock allowed: no" you won't be able to unlock it
Checked that! , out of luck for me :/
Ok, trying to figure out LB Rom installation instruction.
I will give a try http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z/development/rom-existenz-v5-0-0-ultra-edition-10-4-t2349656
This one,.. i guess its most popular for xperia

hello i have been using xda forums for a quite a while now and i really appreciate the help from every one here. My question is i got the sony xperia z1 which has me stumped with the bootloader unlock i really enjoyed cynaogenmod on my galaxy s2 when i had it and i never had any problems installing it, but with this phone i can not get the the bootloader unlocked, mine says bootloader unlock no, i have been looking every where and people have been saying that you can not unlock the bootloader if it says no. I have managed to get it rooted but i would love to have the custom rom installed can some one please point me in the right direction, or is the answer still no that it can not be unlocked? and if so will it ever be able to unlock?

If it say no the answer is still no. You cannot unlock bootloader or install custom kernel. How ever you still can install custom rom which uses stock kernel.

thank you, could you point me in the right direction with that atleast? I tried looking for that also and still could not find any thing i read i still would have to go in to fast boot mode but when i get in to it all i get is a black screen.
You only get a black screen with fastboot, the commands are issued from the computer.
However you do not need fastboot to install custom roms with a stock kernel. Look in the development section for them
