My current biggest problem with mod'n the i537 is primarily with my objective to convert it to a TMobile master piece.
Speak up IF anyone has done this successfully please. It is challenging because....
1) I have yet to find a version of SafeStrap or other similar program to assist in the ROM install that states it is compatible on i537 running 4.2.2
2) I have not found a thread confirming that there is a stable TMobile ROM tested on the i537 active
please chime in if you have any experience with these objectives. I would like to get this phone working at it's full potential ASAP.

what @Devo7v said, that method works for 4.2.2 and if you do upgrade to 4.3 you can follow this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2721726. I personally still am on Tmo and using the 4.2.2 method cause I don't wanna redo everything unless I update to 4.4.2 which as of now doesn't exactly have anything to change the QCN. ;[

I am convinced there is NO WAY to get ALL TMobile services to work on the i537 active. There is a rumor that it may be possible on the international i9295 Active BUT it does not have the LTE 4g receiver frequency!!!
No one seems to have successfully restored wifi calling and tethering on a TMobi ROM on the i537 active so I am selling mine back to an ATT customer and picking up a TMobi s5 or standard s4.

Google announced the Android 5.0 Lollipop a couple of days back and we’re already hearing news from various Android manufacturer partners for their Android 5.0 Lollipop update schedule. Major companies like HTC and Motorola announced their update plans right after a few hours of Google’s announcement, while Sony took a day to announce its update plans.
Just to be clear, the source article states that Samsung has NOT announced any plans to update to Lollipop, and the article goes on to speculate what those dates might be "based on past update cycles". So any of the dates are nothing more than pure guesses anyway. And the "date" given for the S4 Active would be a guess for the non-branded version supplied directly by Samsung. Anything that might or might not come for an AT&T version would come many months later, if at all. Just to be clear. Personally, while it would be fantastic to get Lollipop, I'm not holding my breath...

I don't know about ota update, but people use official kitkat around 6 months. Install update via odin and job is done.

Wait---you received "Lollipop"? If so, care to share some links?
Nevermind----It looks like a slim chance. I'll be sticking with my trusty Optimus pro for now.

Yeah and if you actually read that, that release is for the i9295, not the i537. Don't confuse people
Is here only for i537?

Lollipop has been available for the international model (i9295) for months, it's called Cyanogenmod 12. The only people in this forum unable to use lollipop are those with the U.S. model (i537). Along with the fact that the title of that thread you linked to has the actual model number in its title (and the firmware build number does too), I'm not entirely sure what rebuttal you just failed to articulate, but I'd wager it's inaccurate.

Firstly, this thread never implied its about the us variant i537, so his rebuttal was very accurate.
Secondly, The official Lollipop release only came a couple of days ago for the i9295, which is clearly what the OP of the thread begun talking about. Many people in this forum were unable to use lollipop as not many people count a port of Cyanogenmod stable enough to use daily.
Hope that helps you understand this thread better =)
any danger from manual update?
Hi friends. Sure most of you knows about the official 5.0.1 update for S4active which released for nordic countries on sammobile.
I am sill on 4.2.2 in Saudi arabia. My question is : should i update manually to kitkat firstly befor i install lollipop? And is there any dangers for updating my phone to this European update?

I have an unlocked AT&T GS4 Active that I'm currently using through MetroPCS. I still have an AT&T sim card. If I put the AT&T sim card back in the phone, would I have the ability to get the Android 5.0 update? I assume the answer is No as the AT&T sim is not provisioned, but would the sim allow me to get the update over the air? Do all carriers look at the make, model, build # and carrier of all devices to make sure the phone is compatible? I'm assuming if this doesn't work, rooting is the only way. Also, since I have service through MetroPCS, will they update to Lollipop once available or does my model number, SGH-i537, make them think I have AT&T ( and will not update software for the phone )?
Does having an unlocked phone prevent software updates specifically when the phone was made for one carrier only ( AT&T Active )?
Will MetroPCS automatically push software updates to all their customers or to just those that have an approved device from Metro?

You need to have an active AT&T sim card to get the update automatically. MetroPCS nor any other carrier will never provide updates to an AT&T phone. This is similar to asking if Honda will upgrade the engine of your Ford truck, it's never going to happen. Your only option is to update the phone manually using the guides provided in this forum.

I am new to rooting and have no idea about it.
I have a galaxy s5 at&t 5.1.1 lollipop, and im trying to figure out if there is rooting for it. I tried kingroot and it some days there will be a strategy and some days there isnt.
I found out about systemless root and i have no idea if it works with my version, and i went into recovery mode or whatever its called and i had no idea what to do there....if there is a root or anything out there or lead me to the right direction that would be great thanks.
As far as I have found there is no root or downgrade available for the at&t variant of the s5 (g900a) running 5.1 plenty of us are waiting to update to it, and even more are in your position being stuck there.
Is it worth it to get a new s5 running 4.4.4 ?
Asking opinions here of the group. I can buy a mint condition g900a that still has kitkat 4.4.4 on it so I assume it can still be rooted. Is this worth buying or not?

It can still be rooted.
Correct, however if you can find a g900t in the same range piecewise it would be a better investment

Pretty certain that if you flash TMobile firmware to a Verizon model you will end up with a brick. Available root for the Verizon Galaxy S6 depends on the build number but root shouldn't be required to run on TMobile if the device is unlocked. The forum is here:

Ive looked everywhere for this version after I got it back from Samsung Galaxy repair in Texas and I just can't seem to find it so I know the correct procedure for the rooting. Please help.

I imagine you are on the latest Nougat since we can't stop the upgrade/update... Rooting was only available on older versions like 5.1.1 Lollipop.

The S4. I figure it's a better device to start with than bricking my S6 Edge. Lol. I can't free up the bootloader on the S4 though I got it rooted but bootloader isnt unlocked
Verizon locks the bootloader on their phones
