Guessing this should be in the Q&A section, so someone should close this out when they have a moment.
I haven't found a ROM yet I couldn't get through the day with. I run XDABBEB which does well and PA Beta's were good too. 5.0 Alpha's are too glitchy right now for me to try for long enough to assess.
Welcome to the forum, for future reference as stated in the sticky at the top of this section...

Battery life has been decent with Plain-Andy, don't know how much screen on time I can get though, most of my battery goes to streaming music all day to my bluetooth headphones. I make it through a work day and the evening without issue, if I lay off the music it's obviously even better.
I've tried a lot of Roms and Cloudy G3 2.1 has been tops for me.

Hmm,Cloudy has got a nice battery life, but i dont really like the design....
stock rom itself is really good. You should be able to get at least 5 hours screen on time with your usage.

I'm about to give my phone to my father and I was wondering what ROM offers the best battery life? He isn't much into technology so battery over performance is clearly what I'm looking for. I would hate to give him a phone that doesn't last through the day with moderate use....
This is coming from CM7 2.3.4. I'm lucky to get through the day starting on a full charge with very moderate use. In fact, my battery was nearly out after about 6 hours of use, and 2 hours it was on airplane mode! I just recently recalibrated my battery and it doesn't seem to be any better at all.... Kinda frustrating.
Thanks!
any of the aosp builds are really good but if u dont care about having gingerbread i would definitely go with aosp 9.9.2 froyo.
also aosp 9.9.2 works really good with collins ph batterry tweak and u can proably get three times better battery life with that if u do it right.
Honestly, even if it was eclair I don't think it would be a problem. Thanks for the suggestion, I'll have to try it out!

Yeah, I think I remember doing that tweak way back when, and it seemed to help a lot. That is the one and only thing I missed about Froyo-- that and the GPS .
and if he wants the sense look i would definitely go with nfx stock sprint rom.
Do you think sense is more newb friendly? That's what I've heard, and if so, I might do that cause, like I said, he's not very technologically literate....
its not that its noob friendly its just ascetically pleasing is all it is.
Alright, thanks! I'll give one of those two a go when I'm closer to upgrading to the EVO 3D (whenever that is).

Ive had ridiculous battery life on Aloysius.
I think its a 2.1. But it lasted the longest for me
I just put serendipity 6 on my buddys captivate. I don't know anything about the development for this phone so I kinda had to wing it to pick which rom to put on. He was on eclair . He loves it the new.but my question is, any reason to put serendipity 7 on it instead or any other ROM for that matter? I want to give him the best stability and battery with customization. Any help is.appreciated
I do have to say this was a fun phone to mess around with for the first time

Sorry, there is no quick answer. ROM selection is a personal preference thing.
However there is a thread on xda comparing roms battery performance. If I remember correctly serendipity was among the top. Fasty was up there too.
I'll look for the link when I get home and edit my post.
Thanks for the reply. I just want to leave him with something that it's stable and if serendipity I'd up there.my job is done.thanks man

I found the thread I had mentioned, but it's old. It has been almost a year since there were any constructive posts. It was full of squabbling, so I won't bring it back to life by posting a link to it. Too bad though, cause the guy who started it had good intentions.
Probably best to let this thread die also. Battery / performance comparison threads seem to get ugly after a while.

this phone is almost three + years old. so many ppl have moved to newer versions. those who still has this phone are moved on to ICS (Ice cream Sand-witch (4.0.4) based ROMs. ICS is fast, stable and good on battery as well.
that's why there is no action on GB based ROMS.
I am on Slim ICS and highly recommend it.
until they get the encryption unsuccessful bug worked out that is a pretty good reason to recommend staying with the gingerbread roms
i suggest you go with gingerbread because it was tested that it has a better battery performance plus the graphics drivers upgraded.
Legend 4 is the most active GB ROM with current and helpful developers still active. I run it with no problems.

Hey everyone, I know "best rom" threads aren't allowed but that isn't what I'm trying to ask. I don't care which is better overall. I just want to know how their battery life stacks up (not against each other but how they are in general). I am currently running CM11 and I really miss Sense for some reason. So I am thinking of switching back but I want to make sure my battery life doesn't suffer because of it. So are the Sense custom roms for the HTC One (m7 GSM) good with battery life? I tried ViperOne once and it barely lasted 12 hours. Thanks in advance.

I dont want ro ever say one rom ia better than another. As a programmer I have a great reapect for the people and teams that put these out.
Thus said; in my last 5 or so years of owning one android device or another I've always found better resposiveness and battery life using a custom rom over the stock softwares.

I really enjoy Onedroid, based on CM, just amazing battery life and everything really smooth.
I have an Atrix HD, rooted, with unlocked JB bootloader, and I've also done the MAXX battery MOD. I haven't had this phone long and it seems to be a bit laggy, and a battery hog on the stock firmware. I am not partial to JB or KK so I am pretty open to suggestions. All I am looking for is SPEED, STABILITY, and BATTERY LIFE, and of course the LEAST amount of bugs possible. TY all in advance! :good:
ROM recommendation posts are a dime a dozen around here, and the answer is always the same: figure it out for yourself by browsing the development forums for your phone, and flash the one that fits what you want.
Thanks

Thanks but thats what I've been doing for the past almost 2 weeks now. I only asked because there is ALOT of developement already for this device and it looks like EVERYTHING is buggy as Hell so far so I was really looking for a USEFUL suggestion. But thanks a bunch.

No, not everything is buggy as hell. The majority of them run just fine and are good enough for daily drivers. If you installed one, you'd see for yourself.
I understand that you want a perfect ROM but there isn't one. You've gotta take what minimal bad there is with the good. Even stock ROMs have bugs.
The best advice is to flash a ROM that sounds good and see if you like it. Hell, that's half the fun!
Thanks Dr. Orange

I understand what you are saying, and I have been checking them out, I'm on CM11 now, and have tried Holoblur, and a couple others. I've went through this with literally 13 devices now so I'm not new to this. I was simply asking the community for the best ones that they have used from their experience. I have asked this question on XDA about all of my other devices and normally people respond with just what I said before. Its just a lot easier when I can narrow it down between a handful of ROMs that are DD material.
What has been your favorite so far Doc?
Ah yes! Had to make sure you weren't just asking for the best instead of researching for yourself! I guess I could've been a little more helpful from the beginning...
My most important feature is pie controls, second is tied with customizing options and battery, So right now, carbonROM is perfect for me. I'm running the 8/04 jbbl build and it works great.
I have the MAXX battery mod so battery isn't as important, but I still want it to last all day.
Team Gummy works well too. The only build for our jbbl phone that works is the April build 2.0. It's light and battery life is good too. Also has pie, not as many customizable options.
Those are my KitKat choices, I'm not sure of the 4.3 Roms other than the last time I had a 4.3 PAC ROM installed it worked really well with excellent battery life. 4.3 Roms are arguably the most refined, but development has shifted towards KitKat obv.
That's pretty much all I know.
Awesome!

That my friend is exactly what I was looking for, thank you so much for the input... I will definitely try your recommendations next. I also did the MAXX MOD on mine the other day with the EB40 battery and cutting of the inner frame, but just like you I definitely want it to be able to last all day. Lol, I know there is no perfect ROM, I just didn't wanna be crack flashing for the next couple months with as many nice sounding ROMs there are for this phone. Either way, your info is extremely appreciated, and thanks for the heads up on Gummy. I typically look at a ROM's OP first to look at the features then look through the last couple pages to see if and what issues it may have. It just got frustrating bc MOST posts end with people all talking about their damn RAZR's in the wrong forum lol. So thank you very much Doc.

4.3.1 unified build from 1 Feb 14 works well and has decent battery life with the battery mod, best battery life i have seen so far was on ATT's stock pre-heartbleed fix revision.
Thank you very much as well palm beach. I'm on Gummy 2.0 now (the one that works) that the doc suggested and I love it aside from some random systemui force closes so I think I will try your suggestion next lol.

I just purchased a Note 4 from T-Mobile today, coming from a HTC M7. I noticed that the ROMs aren't as unified as on the M7, and I was wonder which ROM was the most stable in terms of battery life and performance (Touchwiz ROMs only please)
Depends on your own personal taste. All of the developers here have something great to offer, depending on your personal preferences. The best thing to do is to try them. Rooting is easy and there are plenty of AOSP and Touchwiz roms to choose from. Dig in! If you're not married to the fingerprint scanner and multiwindow, the AOSP selection is great. There's a plethora of 5.0 on the AOSP side! If you aren't impressed by lollipop yet and like your Touchwiz features, there are some great customizable 4.4.4 options as well. In my personal opinion, you can't really go wrong.
Subjective
Well what is best and what is stable is completely subjective to the user. Most of these best Rom threads end up getting closed because they become a cheering section for fanboys trying to represent their favorite Rom
^ notice the trend.
Also questions and request always belong in Q&A.
Your thread has been moved and we suggest you do your own reading and research in the Development section decide what is best for you and try it out yourself.

Have a great day!
These types of the get closed quickly. It's like asking what's the best soda, food, etc. Everyone's tastes are different. What's important to me, might not be important to you.
I've been running jovy Darth stalker since my S3, and I like it a lot. Stable, fast, has the features I like and want. Never bothered to try the others. I'm not a flashaholic like many here. I don't have the patience to test and try...not a bad thing, I just don't have the itch.
I'll stick with Darth until a official release of lollipop from T-Mobile personally.
What I can tell you is, if you read the basics, and have a solid idea of what your doing, testing a rom is fairly painless, you just have to want to invest the time in testing it yourself and see if it meets YOUR expectations.
Good luck in your search.

Btw @Araltd what's darth?
I have tried FK, Rapture, Stock DeoDexed, DK, and a few others. Best results for me, and only after a t-mobile replacement phone, has been Rapture.
I tried deodexed stock, and the bloat was just insane, removing it on my own was dangerous.
Rapture on medium to heavy usage for my last full charge i got about 40 hrs stand by with 6 hr and 40 min SOT with 3 hrs of Bluetooth streaming and about 1 hr of phone calls, 20 minutes total of GPS.

that's some amazing results man, I tried to follow your steps but because I'm on prepaid they said I have to send phone first and wait for 10 business days to get one back. So i'm just gonna probably pass.

Darth stalker is Jovy23 ROM. It's awesome to me. I've been using Darth since my s3, and its rock solid for me. It may or may not be the latest and greatest, but it's always been reliable for me.
My vote is for FireKat.
