Hello all,
I have installed a watchface with sdb install xxx.wgt
Now I try to remove it by doing sdb unstall xxx.wgt
I am getting the following message: error, package xxx.wgt does not exist
So, how do I remove it then?
Thank you all

Never mind - found it. Since many of you do not know: when you install the watch face - the sdb tool will tell you the application number (several times). Write that number (code) down.
Then, to uninstall: type sdb uninstall ..... ( put the number instead of the ....) Do not use the appt name as that is not going to work!
I did not know that. Thanks for clearing that up. Another thing I don't know; how to get S Voice to work with my S4.

Sorry, saw your question only today - I ran into the same problem and it's good I kept the DOS cmd window open after install (and I have a 10000 line buffer )
Long story short, I ended up changing the wgt file name to INCLUDE the PID.
Ex: gear1analog_tTS6SRO5PU.wgt which makes it easier next time to uninstall. There should be a way to list the PIDs...

I found something else. In case you installed a watchface and do not have the PID: as long as you have the watchface file - you can rename it to .zip. Then you can extract it and one of the files will have the PID - so then you can uninstall.
But it seems that I can uninstall directly from the app manager too? It seems that most / all of the watchfaces I have installed with sdb are visible in the Galaxy Gear Manager - so they are removable from there too

I tried killing adb.exe after I wrote an adb command and it didn't do anything. I keep getting that out out date killing .... can anyone help? thanks!
I have the same problem. Can't get rid of that stupid message.

could someone please help me .. thanks!
If anyone runs into this problem I fixed mine with the adb.exe from the new "universal" sdk. I downloaded it and just pasted that adb.exe into the existing tools folder. May not be recommended but I did not want to change my setup.
while your phone is in recovery and plugged in, go to device manager and see if there is a listing called adb interface. if so, do you know how to manually update the drivers? by pointing the driver update to the usb folder of the sdk?
konzern
running my adb shell ums_enable is no longer working says ums not found ?
edit to m y post i found a alternative thank god!
1.plug in your phone and open command prompt
2.change directories to where u have ur sdk stuff (ex. cd c:\thenameofdirectory/tools)
3.type this in
adb shell
echo /dev/block/mmcblk0 > /sys/devices/platform/usb_mass_storage/lun0/file
I am curious if any of you loaded Droid Explorer? I loaded it, played around with it, and it was pretty cool for the screenshot and screencast stuff. But, later I noticed I kept getting the "adb server is out of date. killing..." I searched through these threads and Google for a solution, but nothing seemed to work. I could enter "adb remount" and it might work about 1 time in 5. Even adb devices would fail and fail before finally reporting my device. After I uninstalled Droid Explorer. The problem stopped immediately. Now that I think about it, I think Droid Explorer runs a service. Maybe after uninstalling, the services stopped, fixing this problem. If not Droid Explorer, maybe some other program that is trying to detect the device at plugin. Just my experience.
I just killed the DroidExplorer service, and set it to manual. Problem solved.
I've had no luck with DE anyhow, so it probably won't get started again any time soon.

Yes, this is a problem that occurs after installing Droid Explorer. The service also takes a lot of idle CPU time. I have uninstalled it due to this and other reasons.
Damn, Droid Explorer! I uninstalled and I am still having this problem. Damn !
OK, I got droid explorer and adb playing nice together. I deleted the SDK from my PC, and reinstalled droid explorer full (which comes with the SDK already). Then I just added the new tools directory droid explorer installs to the system path. You can find directions on how to do that here -> http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Sapphire_Hacking#sec02 . Instead of using C:\AndriodSDK\Tools\ for the string I added, I used the default location where droid explorer installs the tools directory ( C:\Program Files\Droid Explorer\SDK\tools ). Now I have the best of both worlds !

I also noticed I was getting the blue screen of death, which I hadn't seen in years. I think DE was causing that, too, because I haven't had the BSOD since uninstall. So two problems I didn't think were related seem to have been caused by Droid Explorer. I think it's a pretty cool program, but I'd rather do things the "old fashioned" way.
Can any of you point me in the direction of how to use ADB to take a screenshot? Maybe it can't. Thanks.
Edit: I found it...Through DDMS!

Sounds like you have droid explorer installed, goto the sdk folder in droid explorer (c:\program files\droid explorer\sdk) copy the 2 folders (platform and tools) to your own sdk folder.

Can you link to the "universal" download please? Probably missing something obvious here, but can't seem to find any other version than the most recent r05.

I have a Motorola Cliq, Also a G1. I was wondering. Is there a way to pull an APK from an unrooted phone? I can "adb shell" into the phone and look at it's contents. I see the APK i want to copy but since i don't have root, it says "CP Permission Denied"... Is there a way of pulling or copying an APK if the phone is not rooted???
Did you try adb remount first?

yes, I tried ADB remount but it doesn't work... I can do adb devices and it'll show but it won't mount it as rw... it just lists the contents but can't copy, move, pull or push.
Where is the apk located? If it's in /system and it's read-only in theory you should still be able to pull it. Don't know why you're using 'cp' rather than adb pull.. If it's in data/app-private then no you won't be able to pull it. Hence the ADP1 has root but can't download paid apps (to prevent piracy)..
Solved
I tried CP, MV, PULL, PUSH... nothing worked because the phone is not rooted... BUT I SOLVED THE PROBLEM!
Here's what my goal was. My wife got a Motorola Cliq. It came with the TeleNav program and i wanted to put it on my G1... I couldn't get it out because the phone's not rooted....
I fixed the problem though...
I installed ASTRO File Manager on the Motorola Cliq, located the APK and used the e-mail option to e-mail it to myself... that actually worked... woot woot!
Installed it on the G1 and it works like a charm... so now I have Turn by Turn directions on my G1.
follow up question because i'm attempting to do the same thing, just trying to extract the apk. where exactly did you find that file using astro, i've been looking but haven't seen it

Apps should be in /data/app.
Also, you could have used ADB
Code:
adb pull /data/app/app.to.pull.apk C:\apps

Problem solved through other means, thanks for the help!
Hello out there,
my first post will be a request.
Just bought root explorer, finally market is working good.
I would like to uninstall default noisy-memeater-neverused-apps (peep and fingerprint are just 2 examples).
Is there a nice way to delete them without leaving installation files scattered in the phone? Some program as well (also payment one)?
Should I just delete the apk file or there is also a directory where the app save something of his own?
It would be really nice if someone with more experience than me can do a list of default .apk files/directory created so everyone out there with a rooted phone and unused default apps that want to get rid of can do this also manually with a root explorer or from adb shell.
Thank you a lot.

thats easy ape, thank you, and I already know it, but not what I wanted.
I was asking if someone can list defaultappname-apkfile association in that dir.
So I know what to clean without going blind at it.
And if default apps have files in other positions than /system/app so to clean also remaining files for that app.
Thank you.
Hey there xda forums,
so a while ago i bought a galaxy s, and i was pretty happy with it! rooted it, used a lagfix, and now im trying to tweak the framework-res.apk to get a glass status bar + dock.
now i know theres enough tutorials on this, and i know how the adb works, but i cant seem to 'push' my framework-res.apk back onto my phone after i've modified it.
here's what it says
Code:
C:\android-sdk-windows\tools>adb push framework-res.apk /system/framework/
failed to copy 'framework-res.apk' to '/system/framework//framework-res.apk': Permission denied
it seems i am missing some permissions. as i've mentioned, my phone is rooted, so i dont think thats the problem. anyone else having trouble trying to push apk's?
please help me out, id like some more customizing, but i cant seem to get past the 'permission denied'.
i've read a superuser authentication box is supposed to pop up when i keep the phone from going to stand by, but nothing is happening.
when i went to the adb shell and run 'su' i did get the box..
regards,
terraego
bumperdiebump,
cmon someone with a xxjf3 device must have tried adb? i really want to customize my device
I had the same trouble with ADB on my JM1 ROM, in the end I used "Root Explorer" (from the market) to alter the permissions of the system and Framework folders, to give ALL read/write access... had to reboot a few times before the permissions would stick... now adb worked first time
Just install Root Explorer, Long press on the System Folder and select Permission, then make sure ALL boxes are ticked, then browse to the Framework fodler and do the same....
[Q] "Installation error - insufficient storage available" when installing skype
Hello Everybody,
this is my first post on this forum, i decided to start this thread cause i've been struggling with this problem for something like one month now, i really want to fix it, and this looks like the best place where to ask for help.
I'm having problems installing the Skype application on a Samsung Galaxy S, in Italy.
Initially i installed it from the market, the installation went fine, but i couldn't log in cause i was still running Android 2.1
After the upgrade to 2.2, Skype worked only the first time i tried to use it, then it started giving me a weird bug; basically each time i tried to make a call, it would say "already 2 ongoing calls".
I uninstalled it, and now each time i try to install it again i get the same error message "Installation error - insufficient storage available".
I have 5.22GB available on the internal SD card, and 573MB on the internal phone storage, and i have no external SD card.
I tried to contact the Skype support, sent them something like 10 different emails, but each time they came up with stupid answers and in the end they couldn't find a solution, so they said
"Please note that the message you are receiving is an operating system message and is not a Skype message.
We suggest that you contact Samsung to find out under which circumstances the operating system returns this message and what can be done to make an installation possible."
I tried to contact Samsung, but they didn't even reply.
I started a thread in the Android Market Help Forum and one guy suggested to use adb to delete the skype folder
So i rooted my device with z4root and also did the OneClickLagFix V2.2+
I managed to install the Android SDK and get the adb up and running, but when i try to delete the skype folder, this is what i get
# rm -R /data/com.skype.raider
rm -R /data/com.skype.raider
rm failed for /data/com.skype.raider, No such file or directory
#
basically there is no such folder..
at this point i really don't know what to do, and i hope that someone here is able and willing to help me.
I think i gave all the possibly needed information to help you fixing my problem, but if you need more please just ask.
Thanks a lot and by the way big up to this forum, so many useful informations in here!
Cheers
Pedro
update
i installed Titanium Backup
if i go to the Backup/Restore tab and scroll to the very botton, the last one is com.skype.raider, but it has a line on it and i'm not sure what that means (see attached image)
if i click it, all the options are grayed out, so i can't uninstall it..
if i click and hold, a different menu comes up, where most of the options are grayed out as well, i can only do Assign Labels, Explore and View in Market.
If i click Explore, it says:
com.skype.raider
files/
shared.lck 0B
defetto/
main.db-journal 8.0KB
any idea what's going on? thanks in advance
Never mind, i made it!
I bought an application from the market called Root Explorer, i couldnt find a free one doing the same, basically giving full access to my folder structure.
Anyway, i was able to find the com.skype.raider folder and delete it..
after that, next install went fine!
the correct path was /data/data/com.skype.raider
so if you have the same problem, you can use abd and delete the folder and you don't need to buy the above mentioned app..
p.s. how do i set this thread as answered?
Had a similar problem! I couldn't downlaod anything from the market. Unmounting the sdcard has fixed the issue. Thx http://media.xda-developers.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
