Has anyone else had an issue with the stock keyboard not working properly with certain apps? I'm using it to input passwords on certain apps & it's as if the app is not recognizing the input or misinterpreting it.
Changing to another keyboard seems to resolve it with some but not all apps.
Sorry for the double post, but I can only assume that from the lack of response that no one else has encountered this issue?
Have you tried on of the keyboards form the play store to see if it is it is the keyboard?

After a while the keyboeard popup disapears, i don't see anything but when i release it uses the icon or number but it's really annoying. i also posting a screenshot to show it, the dot button is pressed to show the popup, but there is nothing to see.
Before people are starting to say wipe everything, i'm not a noob at this i flashed everything used different roms currently i'm using modified stock ROM. it was also present with CM7 builds (nightlies & rc)
Gb version GRI40 with stock kernel. I just wanted to know if other people have the same issue.
ps: reboot does fix the problem but annoying to reboot it every time.
Update:
thnx to tommert38 there is a way to get the popup working again bij 'Clear data' in Settings > Applications > Manage applications. This will remove all the keyboard settings and maybe dictionary (not sure about this).
this is also a reported issue found here > http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=15029
I've experience the same problem. I've tried foreclosing the keyboard but that doesn't work.
So far the only solution I know is a restart.

fine to hear that i'm not the only one with this issue but not fine to hear that there is a bug like this.
I also tried FC the keyboard and didn't work and this happens everyday.
What if you select 'Clear data' in Settings > Applications > Manage applications > All, under Android keyboard ?
I installed a custom keyboard with English and Dutch dictionary and had this issue once, but when I cleared data it was fine again..
If you have more than one keyboard installed, you can switch to the other keyboard and back again by long pressing the text field and selecting the Input Method option. It's a workaround, but it's easier than rebooting the phone...

my wife has reported the same issue on a non rooted stock gingerbread n1

Ok so i'ts a official GB Bug, i didn't read it anywhere so i thought i was the only one.
I believe I've seen the same, on Gingerbread, but running another keyboard (AnySoftKeyboard). The keyboard disappeared and didn't appear until reset. At the same time, switching to the regular Gingerbread keyboard worked - it showed up. Switching back to AnySoftKeyboard before reset again brought it blank.

this worked for me! thanks
Im getting the same issue on a stock GB N1... Only happened once so far though, and I solved it by rebooting the phone...
Having the same issues even on the Nexus S. Fixed by force closing the android keyboard. Never happened before until recently. I think its GB.
I dont remember having this issue on GB 2.3.2 (when using CM7 Nightlies) did this happen after the update to 2.3.3?
I have the same problem using HTC Ime Mod (oxygen 2.0.1, HTC Desire). In this mod there is an option to kill te keyboard. That's enough to fix it!
Yea, this only happened after upgrading to gingerbread. Stock 2.3.3, never modified.
If i clear the Android keyboard data, doesn't that mean i loose the keyboard permanently? I'd need another keyboard as a backup right?

No you won't loose your keyboard only the settings of the keyboard and maybe (not sure) custom dictionary.
I saw this thread yesterday (never noticed the bug until I after I read this ) but have noticed it several times now. I just took the keyboard from CM7 RC1 and pushed it to /system/app/LatinIME.apk. I haven't been using it very long, but so far I have not gotten the bug again. I will report back after a few hours of usage on my finding. Also, I noticed nothing functionality wise that differs from the 2.3.2 and 2.3.3 LatinIME's.
Update: the bug occurred anyways, but force closing the keyboard restored it to working function.

Clearing the keyboard means that all settings go to default. This means I only have to select which dictionaries I want to use, because I don't touch the other settings It won't delete your keyboard and it's still better than rebooting the phone!
Hey everyone i thought i would bring the good news to people who are swype fans and let you guys know that the new swype 3.0 is available for download and is open for the public to join as well.
i know people on the TB were having some problems with swype in the beginning, and for all i know got fixed long before beta 3.0, but regardless the new 3.0 fixes the spacing problem on the TB and has some cool new features as well, go check it out at swype beta website
http://beta.swype.com/
Great find.. thanks!
Works great

It seems to have fixed the issue at reboot. Don't need to toggle input methods anymore to get swype fired up which was anoying
So far so good! First time that the downloaded beta actually typed properly. Previously had to use a diff version found on xda here somewhere.

anyone else getting slight lag with swype 3.0 on gingerBAMF?
I still have to toggle. Did you guys remove and redownload the installer our simply run the installer and let it update the app?
Swype issue?
When double spacing on swype it does not auto install period, is anyone else experiencing this?

same issue here. really annoying
I totally uninstalled the installer & app... started from scratch... Works fantastic, no spacing or reboot issues.
The new inline word suggestion is top notch. Will see how it "learns" but maybe just a half step below swiftkey so far after a few minutes of use...

Just swype from period to space. Much easier motion.

I still like Flext9 a lot...although I am using this on my Xoom because it supports tablets and Flext9 doesn't.
+100 on flext9.
Autospacing doesn't work for me when i am texting. Works fine in email and other applications though.
Uninstall and re-install worked for me.
I agree, the update is really nice. It still does not work with the pre-installed messaging app, but with apps like handcent, I will never go back to the pre-installed app.
I logged in with my account, installed the installer and the version says 1.1.26483. Is that just the installer or is something wrong?
I went ahead and installed it and my swype isn't white like in the picture either.
I bounce between Swype and FlexT9 periodically. Flex is easier with words that have double letters, but it really, really sucks in dealing with spaces after punctuation.

Thanks so much for posting this, I was lamenting my lack of swype, now I can swype to my heart's content. That reminds me, is there a way to put away the swype keypad like the stock one?

I had heard Google Voice worked fine on the Touch, but the lower third of the keyboard is always missing, rendering its SMS/text capabilities basically nil.
Anyone have a similar experience and/or have a workaround?
(sigh)
Well, I worked on the app trying different methods of possibly expanding the keyboard to full size to no avail. I searched the Market for any substitutes for GoogleVoice. Nothing there, either.
Has anyone found a substitute?
GV Mobile site.
I use the Google Voice mobile site: www dot google dot com/voice/b/0/m. It works great in Opera Mobile. I'm too new to post links, so you'll have to fix that address...
Drakkim:
Indeed! I ended up switching to using the mobile site (in Opera mini) just as you did. Worked fine for me.
However, of late, I decided to switch keyboards (currently both GO Keyboard and ICS Keyboard) and they end up working just fine in the actual Google Voice app. These keyboards don't get "cut off".
I use swifttabletx, but the corrections don't pop up, so i disabled them, and it works great.

When using the steam for mobile app on my nook, everything works fine.
Except the messenger only shows the top half of the keyboard (ie the qwerty and asdf rows)
Not only is this weird, it does this in both portrait and landscape. Another instant messenger with steam chat support did this too.
The keyboard works fine and properly in every other app.
Has anyone else encountered this problem/have a fix?
Hi there,
I had this issue with default keyboard and with Google Talk. I am using now Hacker's Keyboard and this issue in Google Talk is gone. Try different keyboard (esp. Hacker's Keyboard) and you will see.
How did you install Hacker's Keyboard on your NST?

It works on texts and even posting here...but when replying to emails it doesn't capitalize or space between words although it is set up correctly and working on every other application but the native mail app which is very nice. anyone else experience this? It did work correctly for a day.thanks!!!

Same here. I ended up switching back to the stock keyboard and enabling trace under settings for the stock keyboard. Pretty similar to Swype and haven't had any problems with it.
I'm having the same issue. I greatly prefer the Swype keyboard to the stock so I'm hesitant to switch back.
Try uninstalling Swype and downloading again from play store. I heard this is a known bug.
