[Q] Dialer One Themes

I think this is the most general place for a question like this but:
Can anyone theme the Dialer One app? If not suggest a replacement?
I've used Dialer One on my Android ported Windows HTC Diamond 2 and now on my Nexus One. I LOVE some of the themes for the stock android dialer but it lacking Dial-By-Name is a buzzkill.
Dialer One works AWESOME and I love it, but it just doesn't look right in Android (aka. not very elegant).
Short of spamming the developer, can it be done via the community like all of the other apps out there that get customized?

i would also like to have this ...
meanwhile i try it ...
it is possibl to extract the apk (via zip tools).
copy the apk file to your system, rename it to zip.
then extract the zip to a place on local system, then change the png files as you like, then save it ...
after you have done the changes, then you must open the zip directly via ex: 7zip, then drag (overwrite) the changed png files in the original folders..
then close the zip(apk) and rename it back to .apk
after that you must copy the apk file to /system/app (rooted and remounted as RW is needed).
then restart phone and it is done...
----------------
but i think, the devel should think about to make it more flexible to adjust an easier way for it .. because if there is an update, then you have todo the same again ...
(PLS: the theme itself is not bad on black, but it is not black, it is gray and it could be 50% darker, then i would be happy ..)
some tweaks
i have done a some modifications in black theme for mdpi devices for dialer one because i love this dialer olso made it system apk to enable it to clear missed call notifications. i changed only the black theme
if you like it download atched
if it-s not working copy only the res folder after extracting the apk end replace it to the folder of your working dialer one apk
screenshot atached

[Q] Help me - Replace Calendar apk

I installed the new CM7 rom + Gapps.
Everything worked fine but the CM's calculator & calendar are far from what i was used on my stock 2.3.5 GB rom.
I've asked this same question on CM forum but no one replied so i'll try to ask here.
How can i replace my calculator with my old one?
I've successfully extracted the calculator apk from my old rom and have it on my sdcard ready to be installed.
But for some reason i cant get it to install and i even tried to put it on system/apps dir replacing the old one without success.
i know this is possible because i saw someone porting the same calculator to a nexus phone
(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1522009)
with the apk from that post i could run and install the calculator but the resolution would not fit my screen
any help?
thank you very much, mornaistar

the calendar.apk that you got from old rom, put it in /system/app, now change its permissions using root explorer as follows
Read permission to all i.e. owner, group and others
Write permission to owner
rest unchecked..
after this reboot your phone.. this should work.. if it doesn't that means the apk is not compatible with CM7 firmware and you can search for some other calendar app that suits your needs
i've tested this and it wont work.
can someone port the apps for CM firmware? i know it's possible since xda users made it for other phones
i was able to run one of those ported apps in my galaxy s but the resolution was all wrong

[Q] Stock Voice Dialer?

I really used the stock Voice Dialer a lot which has been absent from GV 2.0 and Broken Out. I found the VoiceDialer.apk and VoiceDialer.odex from the RevoZV7GBStock.zip and put them in my /system/app, but it doesn't seem to have done any good... Does anyone know how I can install it? Do I need the .apk/.odex from V8 (I'm on Broken Out)?

Yes! I was able to find the deodexed VoiceDialer.apk in the GingerVolt1.3.zip, copied it to the /system/app, rebooted and it works!!!!! Thank you, MT, without even trying!
Now I'd like to figure out how to deodex some for myself... I'd really like the stock calendar widget.
And just to post some more to myself... The calendar widget is in the stock app installer by MT if anyone is interested. Got what I need, now I need to back it all up...

Themes from Theme Store and backups

Hi all. In TBU it seems that only way to back up themes is to back up each individual themed mod - e.g contacts, settings etc. My current theme has 30+ such mods. I can't find a lone apk to back up.
Is this correct or am I missing something? Thanks

Hi B
From TiBu you may backup the "grand items" ... let me explain.
Take, for example, AllBacksBlack. It will appear at TiBu as:
Code:
AllBacksBlack_MM 3.0
And you will find a lot of other items related as
Code:
org.AllBacksBlack_MM.appicon 3.0
...
org.AllBacksBlack_MM.phone 3.0
...
org.AllBacksBlack_MM.themecenter 3.0
....
You probably just need to backup the first one. If you take a close look to its details, you will see it's located at
Code:
/data/app/org.AllbacksBlack.MM-1/base.apk
Alternatively, you could just save that base.apk (renaming it for identification purposes) with your devices file manager and you should be able to reinstall the theme directly.
The same approach will be valid for any other theme.
NOTE: I just don't have a clue of what TiBu will do while restoring the themes. It's not a default android app. It's installed through Theme Store with all that overlay cr*p ...
As Leeds United fans must be bolder than the average ( ) , if you dare to try, share your results
Cheers.
.
Hi Kdio
This was an old post, but thanks for answering! My question was about Theme Store themes, not your masterpieces - they're easier to just reinstall after a clean flash.
The one and only one theme I have from the store now suddenly shows in my Samsing account, but before TBU managed more or less to restore it completely.
Btw, I still haven't had time to mod your theme, but will make time ASAP, promise.
Thanks
