I've checked all the usual suspects and found that all fitness apps fall short of utilizing all of the LG G Watch R's sensors. I've found a few that use it's pedometer function to count steps, but none that will track an activity while counting steps and heart rate! Even LG's own app (LG Health) doesn't utilize the heart rate sensor, nor does google's Fit app. Does anyone know of an app that uses all of these sensors?
UPDATE: A recent update to Endomondo has enabled use of Android Wear devices and their built in Heart Rate Monitors. There are two things that should be pointed out, though. First, it doesn't work in the paid "Pro" version...only the free version (strange). Second, you must start the app from the watch for everything to work right.
You have to use a combination of apps. One that tracks steps and another that tracks heart rate. And do any merge on your own.
Even with apps that work with a separate chest strap monitor, they're not going to do pedometer too. But apps such as Endomodo, will track heart rate and using your phone's GPS track distance too, but not pedometer steps.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I knew that I could use multiple programs...which is what I've been doing. However, what I'm looking for is an app that allows me to say "Start a Run" via my watch and the app will use the watch to track my steps & heart rate and if I have my phone with me also utilize the sensors on the phone to track my route via GPS while using the pedometer to compare to the watch for increased step accuracy. I know it can be done...one of these company's just needs to step up and add these features!

You should be sending your suggestions to them directly. I don't think they're reading here .
a nice app to track Pulse -> https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.macropinch.hydra.android&hl=de
Can be started directly on the Watch!
I'm after an app that will take heart rate measurements automatically at certain intervals. Can anyone recommend one, please?

Hi ...
Various manufacturers have come up with sensors and software (even special running shoes) as accessories to iPod etc to allow beat analysis + playback speed modification based on a runners pace (detected by a pedometor).
I'm thinking, as a runner, and an owner of the very capable Diamond, that the G-Sensor could do this very job.
I personally run, using the Diamond as an MP3 player, with it mounted in a tiny arm band holder.
The very nature of the position of the phone will produce "G" signals which will match the pace of my running.
If this was combined with a fairly standard "Beat analysis" algorithm in an MP3 player, it should be possible to adjust the speed of MP3 playback (within margains) to match the running pace.
Does this sound like a reasonable idea ?
If so, is there anyone out there that has the skill and time to develop such an application ?
I'm sure it would be very popular.
I have lots of ideas about how it would work and what parameters would be useful to adjust etc.
Looking forward to any responses.
Interesting, and probably the movement data could be used for a pedometer as well, could be a battery efficient way to track running distance.
I just set up yesterday my Diamond to play MP3's via WMP and track my running with RunGPS at the same time, using the wired remote to control the tracks. Very cool. If you are a serious runner/cyclist I suggest you try RunGPS, you can export to google maps etc but the feature I like the most is you can get voice announcements over your headphones e.g. announce your current speed, average speed, distance run etc etc every 5 minutes. I have just started training for my first marathon so it's good to help me learn to keep a constant pace (aim is to finish under 4 hours, and most importantly just to finish....)
GPS obviously hits the battery life, running for 1.5 hours yesterday with rungps and mp3 playing took my (Stock) battery from 100% to 50%.
Hiya Bigruss ...
I've taken a look at the trial version of RunGPS - it looks great. I'll give it a try this afternoon on my half-marathon training run (ING Amsterdam).
I see this chap has plans to add a pedometer function based on the G-Sensor in his very nice GPS Cycle Computer software.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=424423
I'll keep an eye on that!
Bit more info for this idea
A few more ideas on this ...
I would imagine that the G-Sensor / Pedometer area isn't too difficult, as mounting the phone on the arm creates a steady swinging action in direct correlation to your pace.
BUT the MP3 adjust side requires several things :-
1) An MP3 player that will adjust playback speed without pitch adjustment. (Many do this now within reasonable limites, but not the built in one).
2) A beat analysis program to establish where possible a number of BPM in the music (easier with dance music etc) - similar algorithm used in all the visualizations for WMP etc.
3) G-Sensor based pace rate analysis.
4) Interface between the two with some adjust parameters from the user.
I think it's pretty complicated! But it would make the diamond a seriously impressive partner to the thousands of runners out there.
Anyone up for the challenge ?
P.
Happy New Year!
As per title, there is a software that works with the Note 3 and S4 which functions as a Remote Control for TVs, stereos etc.. This software is called WatchON, is installed by default on Note 3 and uses irDA (infrared) to control the aforementioned equipment.
There is now another part of this software which works specifically with WatchON and is only for Samsung Galaxy Gear. It is made by Peel. It functions as a remote tv etc. control using the irDA of the phone. So you leave the phone on the sofa looking the TV and can change channels using the Galaxy Gear..
More info here:

Well I cannot find this specific app for my Galaxy Gear to install it! If anyone has it could you please upload it?
Thanx.

The Gear has no IR emitter. There's no hardware to support it, it's impossible.

Yes I know that it has no IR hardware.
The Gear uses via bluetooth the WatchON app and the IR hardware of Note 3 to send commands to TVs etc.
In other words the Gear is used as a companion to WatchON app which is installed on the phone and sends the commands via BT to the phone which are then transmitted via the IR emitter of the phone to the TV set.
I am trying to find and download the Remote Control app which allows the Galaxy Gear to function as mentioned above.

I'm all for doing tech because you can do it, but that'd be a total waste that I can tell. You'd have to get your phone out, make sure it was pointed at the TV, then use the BT on your watch to control the phone to control the TV?

Haven't seen it, but it sounds like a cool idea to me. If you never have to touch a remote while watching a program, I get that this may seem a bit much. However, when you have multiple interruptions (think kids) and the remote has gotten lost between the pillows, the value of this idea becomes obvious.
I'll see if I can't find it.
That app hit the gear store awhile ago and was subsequently pulled within a few days-no idea why-did try it and it was more trouble than it was worth-after a few minutes I ended up uninstalling

it sounds rather usefull to me. i have my note 3 connected to TV/projector sometimes, and it's usually pointed at the screen anyway so having the ability to pause/change volume etc from my wrist would be more than cool.
Did anyone ever find this app?

I had the app when I first got my gear.
want to use your watch to see what's going on at home? all you need is the Gear + another android device - and install 20:20 app - this app turns your watch into a remote security camera or use it to monitor the video feed from another device
for my setup, i took an old android phone and installed the app and set it as my emote camera at home. i then installed the same app on my gear and configured it as my monitor - so now i can see what's going on at home.in addition you can set the remote camera to sound an alarm and/or start recording should it detect motion where it is looking (paid version)

Things to be recognize for buying surveillance system
If you are looking to get security system for your home or office, cctv camera is best solution to this issue. In the present scenario of increased modernization and the extend of crimes is also rapidly growing. Some people always have fear in their mind that burglars would come in their homes and they can’t get peace of mind in such a situation. Surveillance system can give piece of mind to the society by detecting frauds and persons behind the occurrence. While procuring surveillance system, there are number of brans in market having its own unique features and it becomes confusing to select suitable security system among number of alternatives.
The first thing you must consider while purchasing CCTV camera is its TV line. The quality of cctv camera can be judged from the TV line. The more the TV line of camera, the higher is the quality. The price will also differ as the range of TV line changes. The second important thing is the internet viewing resolution. Which means the ability to produce high resolution images that your DVR records the sequence of images? Mostly cameras have 4 CIF (Common Intermediate Format). The selection of appropriate surveillance system from right person is also a big challenge in itself. The persons involved in surveillance sectors have many years of experience in designing and monitoring the security system. You can gain much more than just acquiring equipment. The selection of right type of lens is also another factor that needs to be emphasized. The lens controls the focus that CCTV camera can get under its ambit.

Hi, i've installed this new app to control my runs with gear2 neo. The plugin works flawlessly except for the cardio sensor which can be paired with the app, but it doesn't start.
Has someone esperience this issue, too?
Thank you
Same
I am also having this issue. It's very disappointing as I do a lot of home workouts and basketball, so distance doesn't exactly help me. The other problem I noticed is that the workout calculation the site use are based on distance and duration, not heart rate. I have not looked through all the listed workout categories, but the mass majority does not calculate based of bpm. I've read that Endomondo might do this, so I'm eagerly awaiting the release of their app.
I would be interested in hearing anyone's views on the best app for recording bicycle metrics.
I have the Trek/Bontrager frame integrated DuoTrap. I have been using the Strava app to connect to the bicycle but the app does not seem to provide any data output about the cycles/power collected during the ride.
I look forward to everyone's input! Thanks!
Runtastic
Strava is the best app for cycling.
Strava, nothing else comes close. I cycle and use it every single day.
I found strava to be very heavy on the battery
Thanks for responding. Is there a way to see the duotrap Cadence / speed / power data on the Strava app?
If there is I haven't found it. I'm only using the free app for now so maybe it is a premium feature but, if so, it is not listed.

strava, hands down, use it everyday and it can be used for running/walking too
I found the answer to my question about whether Strava uses external data:
From their site: https://strava.zendesk.com/entries/21165523-iPhone-and-External-Biometric-Sensors-or-Displays
"Do you support speed and/or cadence data gathered from power meters?
The Strava iPhone app does not gather speed or cadence data gathered from power meters at this time.
Do you use the speed data gathered from speed sensors?
The Strava iPhone app does not use speed data gathered from speed sensors. Please see article: How Distance Is Calculated for more details."
I’m using the same frame integrated DuoTrap with the app IpBike. It records all sorts of metrics. You can upload your rides into other apps if wanted. I usually upload mine into Strava.
