Just wanted to see what others thought about the speakerphone. I find mine to sound not very good when turned up all the way. It is not extremely loud, and has some breakup to it.
Curious how others feel.
Thanks.
hi there..
Well I find kaiser's speaker quality awful. It needs a lot more bass, and hopefully that's a software issue. It starts crackling and distorting the sound when it's all the way up. They could have put a better speaker, it's a business phone and speakerphone is an important feature.

That speaker cant hold a candle to the Stereo Speakers found in the MDA. That's one of my biggest gripes between the two.
Anything played at full volume through it sounds pretty bad. I keep the volume down a bit on all apps to make it sound a little better.
I am going to play around with the HTC audio manager application a bit, they have some presets like "Low Treble" or "Low Bass" that will maybe clear things up a bit.
is there any way to shut off the noise cancelling when recording video on this phone? either a setting, or a different recording app?
i took a video and i'd like to be able to hear more background noise. in person you'd hear a choppy idle and supercharger whine. the exhaust should be much louder too. i have no cats + flowmasters dumped before the axle. i set off car alarms idling by, but this phones noise cancelling works so good you can barely even hear it idle.
i was planning to make a phone mount so i can use my moto like a GoPro. in this video i just wedged my moto under the headrest. it was just a last minute thought when i was playing in the snow driving back to work after lunch.

alternatively. if I buy a microphone or hands free kit, would it record the audio from that instead? this might be the better solution. then I could stick the microphone under the hood
Hi there
I assume this is just my handset as all reviews rave about the Moto X loudspeaker. However, I find, especially when listening to YouTube videos, BBC iPlayer etc, the sound output is "uneven".
One second it is rich sounding, the next it'll go a bit tinny. It's almost like a bass boost is going on and off. It is most noticeable with spoken voice on 1/2 to 3/4 volume. I've tried with the sound effect EQ both on and off - same thing.
It's not a deal breaker and I doubt I'll find the effort to send it back but wondered if anyone else has noticed similar.
Thanks..
I assume not! Not sure I can be bothered to return it on the back of this though.
When you call granny, does she keep saying "Huh?! Wut?!" or does the conversation flow pretty well? Rate this thread to express how you feel about the LG Nexus 5X's call quality. A higher rating indicates that calls are clear and crisp, and that regardless of background noise, you can hear the other party clearly (and with ample volume) and they can hear you.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
Overall call quality on the device is excellent, I would even say its the equal of the s6 that it replaced. However, as someone that uses WiFi calling I do have to complain a bit here. Wifi calls come through fine but approximately 10 seconds in to the call my voice becomes choppy on the other end. I never have the issue on VoLTE so this is an issue with wifi calling not VOIP capabilities of the device. I do spend more time than average on the phone which is typically for me around 3 hours a day roughly sometimes as much as 5.
Quality is excellent for me, coming from an lg g3, i can say that the call quality is better, clear, crisp and louder than in g3.
Call quality is good on my end. I'm not sure about call quality on the other end since I've never asked but no one has complained about not being able to understand me so I guess it must be good enough.
i think it depends on counrty to country or cellular providers.
It is horrible. I came from AT&T using a Samsung Galaxy S4. Half my calls are so gargled that I cannot hear anyone, and they do not ring on the phone until my computer has rang for half of the set rings before it goes to voicemail. I am supremely disappointed with this phone and the Fi service. I am about to sell it for whatever I can get and go back to AT&T or try Verizon. This is not to mention all of the delayed and duplicate text messages.
Note: they are better when I turn off WiFi completely, so that the 5X is forced to use a cellular network over WiFi calling, but the quality is still worse than AT&T. I have more or less experienced the same poor call quality on all WiFi networks.
The call quality on this phone is terrible. I can't say whether it is just the phone or Google Fi's service, because I got them both at the same time. What I can say is that this phone is about to get sold due to how bad it is.
This phones weakest point is call quality. The speakerphone echos for the person on the line, and the mic is poor at maintaining the sound of my own voice. Callers frequently tell me my voice drops out like I'm talking from across the room.

I am also facing call quality issue. When i put the phone in speaker mode and talk, the other person can hear echo. Also the call quality is not that clear. Want to change the phone just because of this reason. Even if you have android what if basic Phone functionality is not working properly.
call quality suck the big one on this phone. it sounds like there is something rattling in the speaker half the time, tinny, and I always have issue hearing what some people say and they me.
Never was an issue on any of my htc phones. I guess Google dropped the ball as approving this phone for quality control
Aside from that I rarely talk on the phone so i dont have to deal with it too much fortunately.
Love the speakerphone use it for business calls all the time
Ok, so this seems to be an oddball problem since I haven't been able to find any resources on the web (yet).
My first generation Urbane seems to have a microphone that has gone bad. I suspected this when Google couldn't transcribe replies to messages (went through the sending, trying again, still trying, etc. messages before giving up). I downloaded an audio recorder for wear to confirm and it sounds like I am talking to my watch from the other side of a room inside a sleeping bag.
Here's the recording I made for reference.
I was about 2 inches from my watch, speaking in a normal volume. I have another recording that was with my watch at desk-level with me speaking at a normal volume, but there's nothing to hear except the ambient rumble you can hear in the recording I posted.
So my questions are these:
Is there a way to clean the microphone?
Could the diaphragm in my microphone be damaged?
A real bummer if it's busted since I love this watch!
