hi all
i have an odd problem with my gt540 on vodafone uk.
i updated from 1.6 stock to 2.1 update 1 from lg via lgupdate. all official and proper, worked great, no issues.
i tried updating to baltic black, via kdz updater and windows enabler. all whats changed seems to be the boot animation,(animated lg logo with blue behind it straight to android logo, instead of static lg and vodafone boot screen) and vodafone browser gone, seems to just be called browser and have normal logo.
settings>about still says 2.1 update 1 by lg electronics. lost my apn settings and market access.
i rooted it via adb fine and had superuser and busybox installed. still no market access.
tried updating again to a custom rom with the better recovery and nothing changed. tried various roms via kdz and nothing changes. boot logo stays same, settings>about stays same and i have never been able to get fastboot on it.
i can get to download mode easily enough but never fastboot so cant install recovery and do a fresh install of vasquez, this is my plan.
any ideas, tips, anything?
You lost your settings because you flashed with different ROM from the vodafone one, you will get used to it call your service number and ask for the apn settings, they'll send them to you, you just have to confirm that you want them
And all the changes come from the fact that vodafone puts crappy stuff on their ROM's, what you have now is the clean android
You can read the other topics about how to flash "BlackSystem" by Quarx to get improvements of the android and later when the CyanogenMod is ready you can flash it too
if you want so bad your vodafone stuff i can find you the right .kdz file for the new 2.1 Vodafone ROM
Hello Guys,
I had rooted my SGN before & restored to stock ROM DXKL2. However whenever i tried to update the firware from Software Update, it always says "Failed to update firmware. Try again using PC software (Kies) or Visit Samsung Service Center".
The update download & installation seemed to run well accordingly, but after reboot with "Uploading Media Files" display, the screen simply goes off half way for reboot again, and once SIM PIN gets input, the above display shows up.
May i know how is this happening? Thanks in advance.

What was the Firmware version when you bought the Phone?? If it is different than KL2, Try restoring firmware which was ter when u bought it. Then Update via Phone or Kies.
Thanks for the tips, Mr Ranjan.Alva. It really worked when i flashed it back to its out of the box stock ROM DXKJ3 Gingerbread 2.3.5.
It could simply download, install & reboot perfectly to latest ROM DXLA1 now
i had first flashed my phone to the p920 firmware and that didn't go so well so after a while i finally got the lg mobile support tool to keep the phone from automatically restarting and got it to download and update. when the update was finished the phone booted on and stopped loading and it's having me update it again. did i do soemthing wrong? or what cause this is the furthest i've got with this phone since the p920 mess up.

ok i fixed that, now it will not read sims or so i think, when i try to make a call or join a network it tells me my sim is unable to.
This was posted just now in my thread and is currently downloading an OTA update. I think it deserves its own thread and thanks.
"how to
In Europe, try this :
Open Hicare, update Hicare, agree to terms of system update, download and update to b370 or b 371."
Its a 1.99GB file so presumably complete with data as well
Is your phone a single sim or dual sim? Exact version of firmware?
My phone is twin sim and was C432B160. Can confirm that download complete, reboot and after about 10 seconds of 0% and verify has moved to 62% and verifies again, holds for about 45 seconds and says installing but stays on 62% till it jumps to 98% and then report success. Now rebooted and optimising. More to follow
Confirm success and no data loss. Just going through apps to check. Cannot give enough credit to Prem222 for finding this method.
Dual sim still active
Good! Is the firmware version B370 or B371?
I installed this update without problems, but now bluetooth does not work anymore, I can't even activate it. Does anyone else have this issue?
Its 370
Bluetooth is working.
No updates available.
Some details:
worked for VNS-L31C432B160 > VNS-L31C432B370, (dual sim).
Took a while.
As for 1,5 hour of using everything seems to be working.
Bluetooth - calls and sending attachment ok.
Both sims ok.
Calls ok.
Camera, flash etc ok.
Huawei share works ok.
In the phone manager there is a virus scan ( by Avast).
Thanks goes to SirBeherit from forum.android.com.pl
Looks very fresh

I have no keyboard (i tried to factory reset but it fail) , what should i do?
Before using this method i installed stock rom so i was unrooted and i had locked bootloader...i can't understand why it happened...
The update size was like 1.25 gb.
I have mm b161 with root and recovery twrp. What should i do to update to nougat 371?
Nope, no updates available (C432, Austria). April fool's?
When I flashed back to 161 from 360, I didn't get the OTA update as well, so I just downloaded the required files and flashed it myself via TWRP (because dload wouldn't accept the files for diff version?). Works well, better than B360.
Here are the versions:
B370 - for VNS-L31C432.
B371 - For VNS-L11C432.
If anyone wants to try flashing themselves, I could link the update and hw_eu files (I also factory reset after install, so all files and apps were gone, though the OTA may possibly not do that, have never tried an OTA).
Link me files please
L31C432...Marshmallow rooted
1.Download Hicare app from Playstore
2.Download B370 trough Hicare
3.Upgraded B370 via Hicare
4,Phone booted to twrp
5.Unpacking B370....
6.Phone booting (new boot image)
7.Optimizing system
8.Phone booted okay...
Anything for VNS-L21?
My sister who has the Mi A2, like I do, got an error after downloading and wanting to install the latest OTA.
After the phone restarts to install the update, she gets stuck in the recovery where she can choose between retrying the update (Which doesn't work and brings her back to the same error screen, or factory resetting the phone. When she factory resets her phone, she can boot back into android, but whenever she restarts her phone, she gets the error message and needs to do a factory reset to continue using her phone.
I previously had a Mi A1, and today, the guy that I have sold it to called me because he has the exact same problem.
I find it really strange and would like to hear if anyone else experienced similar issues.
Update:
Seems this has something to do with a bug in the latest OTA on devices that have the language set to Dutch. Taking the SIM-card out, restarting the device (It doesn't give the error anymore), changing the language to anything else but Dutch and inserting the SIM-card again fixes the issue. It can also be fixed by changing the SIM to an older device that can remove the SIM-pin. In this case the user can still use the Dutch language. I guess residents from Belgium and The Netherlands will have to wait until Xiaomi patches the OTA until they can use the Dutch language again.
My wife also had the same issue.. shame
