I must be missing something, I can't seem to find a way to read or leave reviews for apps in the Oculus app store for the Gear VR. I can see the reviews stars and seems most apps are rated "comfortable for some". Where do I go to read full reviews and write my own? I'm sure it's something simple I'm missing. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Not sure maybe it's not possible yet but will most likely will be when the official retail store launches.

Interesting. I wonder where they're getting the star ratings from?...

Oh i missunderstood you, i thought you meant writing a review about the apps/games but rating them with stars is already possible, atleast someone at oculus explained how to but i forgot -.-
OK, I figured it out, at least how to give star ratings. In the Oculus app click on the menu and then library, from there you can give them star ratings. Still not sure where they're getting the comfort ratings from though...
They probably left the review typing off because they figured people couldn't type them with the phone in the goggle.

Pretty sweet, check it out:

yeah i saw it on gizmodo, looks pretty cool. Gizmodo said it was only available in the Netherland store, could someone upload the apk if it is?
but their site does say it will be released in the store soon, so who knows.
Yeah, but the problem then lies in there not being any servers in the US...
Supposed to be some this year though.
Worlds first? Wikitude has been around for ages.. looks pretty damn similar!
I talked to a couple iphone users today and they were all hyped about this until I pointed out that they'd have to have a 3G-S to run it (if/when it comes out for the iphone), which means a nice 400-500 dollar upgrade for them just to use it. Android is a beautiful thing.
"the main difference between them and Wikitude is having many content layers"
Interesting.
looks pretty cool.
That's pretty cool. Imagine if the bars has a counter on the occupancy you can either choose if you want to go to a bar that has a ton of people or not! Or if it'll show you a restaurants menu or specials before walking in.
looks cool
very neat cant wait until it comes out
seems intresting, cant wait for it so i can try it, since it gives real time info im aware it will use data but i wonder if it will require the gps to be turned on as well
From what I can tell the gps is used to determine what info to retrieve

Is different layers marketing speak for different ways to filter?
I can't "see" any difference with it and wikitude and their claim at the first AR browser is dubious at best, wikitude beat them to the punch.
is this gonna be a free browser or will it cost us??
For all that work? Somebody would be insane to publish it for free unless they're supporting themselves otherwise.

Well if you look at the various "layers" provided out of the gate, it seems like it might be sponsored by the various groups providing data. I mean how often are you going to want to use this program to find real estate in the Netherlands (or anywhere in the world for that matter)?
The kind of stuff i'd want an augmented reality program for (finding local eateries, sights to see, etc) seem conspicuously missing in the demo video.
delta_foxtrot2 is right. For all of you that want to try it, it's already in the market, called wikitude, may be this new browser have more POIs or have better way of allowing others to add those POIs but as far as the mechanism goes, it's already in the market, and it is free.

If you don't already know google released a ADC2 app to download submitted apps and review/rate them. Anyone get any good apps from it?

If you "could care less", why are you not taking part? Oh.. because you mean "couldn't care less".
Yeah what happened to Cyanogen sucks, but I wish everyone would stop acting so childish about it. He was wrong. End of story. Move on with life. It's not like it's really that difficult to get the things back in anyway.
I've been judging apps for this all day. Come by a few good ones but most are not that original really. I've been checking the ADC2 website every day waiting for them to announce the judging app release. Can't believe it's out and they didn't even post it on there.

This perversion of the popular axiom irritates the hell out of me too.
Anyway, has anyone actually been issued any decent apps for review? I saw an ADC2 version of Spreadsheet and that's about it. Kinda disappointed in the deluge of kinda 'meh' apps.
Let's keep this thread on topic.
Both of you look slow, because I SAID I could care less, and I MEANT what I said. Never said I wasn't going to compete.
@g1-evolve stop jackin the thread
I haven't gotten a single good app. In fact they are all crap.

I uninstalled it after a few days. Nothing good came across. Extremely disappointing. That seems to be the trend this week.
I got Ping2Locate, which was kind of cool but not really original. That's the best of what I received so far. There was a book library but the scanner just continually took pictures until it found a bar code rather than waiting until one was present in the way BCScanner & ShopSavvy do.
Then there was the endless stream of crap.
One of the most pointless I got was this "unique new media interface". Sounded exciting. It actually turned out to be almost insulting, considering the prize money on offer. It was 4 images taking up a quater of the screen each. One was a season. Pressing changed the image to represent a different season. Another one (I can't even remember what the image was) began to play music and spin the images around. The other two were labelled "M" and "V" which just looked on your SD card for music or video.
Seems like I would have had a good chance at winning if I'd just submitted Hello World.
I guess now I know why they never bothered to announce on the ADC2 site that the judging app was available...

I would have voted it all 5's considering the crap we were seeing.
There're some good apps in there, come on !
I run PrankDialer.com, and have an app in the ADC2 running right now - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1rFJDnXw4Ew
Yeah, I was using it since sunday, hoping that I'd be able to try some really exciting apps.
Instead I got loads of junk apps, games, even one who's description was 'create user table'. I'm hoping that in the later rounds that they will have been filtered out.
Hey everyone,
I am really concerned about windows marketplace. I suppose it will either help the community here by weeding out certain visitors, or it could lure all the good dev's from here with the promise of getting more than recognition for their work.
Anyone have an opinion?

its a shame they will get their ARM! into us.
opps my bad i should really proof read.
I wouldn't worry about it. If anything, it should be useful for the platform and, as such, will benefit us all. For people like myself who flash ROMs quite often Marketplace is useless as it doesn't leave the the cabs and I'll have to redownload stuff every time. For those users who can't spend 5 minutes googling it will be a blessing and therefore will grow the market for WM apps.
What does worry me a bit is not users migrating to MP, but developers.

we finally have yelp for android!
right now its just read only but hopefully we will get all the iphone features after version 1.0
http://officialblog.yelp.com/2009/12/its-time-to-break-out-the-robot-yelp-for-android-is-here.html
I don't really think the majority of us care.
It's not that isn't a great app or anything [well right now it really is a bad app] it's just by the time the iphone and Blackberry devs got there head out of there ass Android developers already published better similar applications.
Yelp is a great way to find a new place to eat, want to impress a date with a nice hotel or searching for a decent spot to throw back a few. There is rating feedback on a restaurant, bar, club or just about anything you can possibly rate. Yelp trying to jump on the Android market is most definitely a GOOD thing.
If they see support from our end I am sure you will see updates and added features in the near future... IM IN!!

I don't know about the rest of the world but I can confirm that there is a uk version on the official webiste look on the top right corner. Try the app, change your location.. if that doesn't work for the uk then just go to your browsers address bar and type "www.yelp.com"
Why the hatred towards the U.S. xda members? We have no control on what these developers do with THEIR apps?

It struck me how many apps I *can't* see.
The Android Dev Challenge winner: "SweetDreams". I can't see it.
Pandora? Nope. (Can't buy music outside the US, either....but I stopped buying music years ago when the stopped treating me like a customer).
Photostitch (paid)? Nope.
...and so on. I can see a lot of the paid apps....but the gaps are annoying.
we've had where for a long time, which has yelp built in...
I thought where took out the yelp reviews? It was the reason I uninstalled it. Anyway, Layar's Yelp layer is pretty good for me.

You're correct just used 'Where' 5 mins ago and it clearly says Citysearch reviews. Its kinda annoying when people don't get thier facts right before posting.
Yelp has helped me find alot of interesting food places and saved me money avoiding certain ghetto and low-class nightlife locations..

Look at those guys on the video! They are so cool, speaking with such humility and Never ever comparing their work to some other contender. I like that and i feel comfortable buy their devices and using their services.
With such prices I can't complain much about the lack of sd slot or removable battery.
