[Q] HTC Stuck on boot. - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Well ive had this problem for some time now. what had happened was that my phone was updating the software and it got switched off. so now it only boots up to the htc logo screen. i can go into recovery and what not but i cant get the phone to be recognized on my computer.
s is on and my phone is locked. i believe the software version is 1.44.0000.
if anyone could assist me on what to do it would be greatly appreciated.
i am trying to put the stock software on it.

Plug the phone into your PC boot to the bootloader (power plus volume down)
with the phone is fastboot usb
use fastboot to get fastboot getvar all (minus your serial no and IMEI) from a command window and post it here

[Q] [HELP] Unrecognized device in bootloader

Hello.
I'm trying to run the "fastboot" commands on my One but I don't. I'm S-ON and full stock. When I'm in the bootloader, my PC (Windows 8.1) brand me "USB Device Not Recognized". So when I run the command "fastboot oem getvar cid", it strikes me "Waiting for devices". But when the phone is started, it is recognized by the PC. Moreover it is with the command "adb reboot bootloader" I went into the bootloader.
In summary, when the phone is started, it is recognized by the PC (the driver has been properly installed with Htc Sync Manager). But when the phone is in bootloader mode, it is not recognized by the PC and when I go to the device manager it there's a yellow triangle on the pilot "My Htc".
I need help because I have absolutely run the "fastboot" commands, thanks.

Can go between fast boot and the Bootloader menu but if I hit reboot, it just comes back to Bootloader. If I pick recovery it just flashes for a second and comes back to Bootloader. I am S-off btw.

ok so the guide walks me up to the point of installing fastboot for unbuntu using a couple cmd lines but for my specific situation will I need any files saved in specific locations? I have never used Ubuntu or Linux before so youll have to bear with me.
Ok so im in Ubuntu, I think I have the guide pretty much figured out, but It still doesnt want to detect my device. I installed ADB according to the guide, but "sudo fastboot devices" comes up blank and the phone only says "fastboot" not "fastboot usb"
entering the command to flash CWM gives me the same waiting for device message. I have tried multiple USB cables as well.

the phone has to say FASTBOOT USB, otherwise it's a problem with the port (phone/PC/cable).
ubuntu doesn't have driver issues, but when you connect your phone to the PC, it has to change from FASTBOOT to FASTBOOT USB.

It doesnt change, so then its likely something with the system partition as it relates to the USB port? Because the port was working fine until the failed flash. But what it sounds like is this is a brick?

doesn't sound like a brick at all, as long a hboot (ie bootloader is fine) no brick should be involved.
but i have to call it a night, hopefully someone will be along shortly, and take over... (timezones ) take it ease, DO NOT PANIC, DO NOT RUSH things!!
Cool, all your help is greatly appreciated. So I should hold off on the trip to the phone store?
Any other ideas to get communication to the phone?
Different Computer, USB Port, and USB Cable. Without saying FASTBOOT USB on the phone, can't do anything.

Help! Phone won't boot

I ran the Cyanogenmod factory reset and now the phone will not boot. It is stuck on the Cyanogenmod boot logo. If I boot to the fastboot it tells me device is still unlocked with s-off. From there it will not boot further or go into recovery. If I try to go into recovery it sits at the Android boot logo.
If I need to do anything complicated to fix please explain. I haven't messed with the phone other than rooting, unlocking, and flashing roms.
Thanks!

You won't see the device, partitions and all.
It should only be present in device manager.
Try the command:
fastboot devices
it should get you the SN on your phone.
If u are new to fastboot and ADB try this article http://techbeasts.com/2014/01/05/useful-adb-and-fastboot-commands-and-how-to-them/
and this one even better:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2225405
After you understand fastboot and adb, and also performed the 2 commands above, if u deleted the zip archive of your ROM to flash again your phone, you will have to push or sideload a ROM, see point E) from this thread:

Try to see if u can install drivers manually:
Download the Windows7 (64 Bit) drivers here - http://d-h.st/OYI
Unzip to any location you want. Just remember where you put them.
Plug in your phone FASTBOOT to your USB cable .
Open your Device Manager (Windows Key + X and select Device manager) and locate HTC under Other Devices and right click on it and select Update Driver Software
Select "Browse my computer for driver software"
Click Browse and then select the folder you unzipped with the drivers in it then click next.
It should now install your drivers and then in your device manager it will now show up "My HTC" under Android USB Devices.

Still nothing. BTW that driver is older than the others.
Let me clarify a little.
Driver you gave me is installed and phone shows up in device manager when in fastboot usb mode.
However if I type "adb devices" I get the response "List of Devices" with nothing under it. There are no devices listed.
If I boot the phone normally and get hung on the Cyanogenmod Boot screen the command will show my device serial.

Well, if u don't see a new device in Device Manager when u plug your phone, is either Windows or your phone.
U already swiched usb ports.
Try another computer.
If that doesn't work, it's your phone's usb port, and that is a hardware problem.

Do you have adb/fastboot and latest htc drivers on your computer? We will need to see the output of "fastboot getvar all" command so we can determine what you need to do to take the ota or to restore the phone back to stock.
When posting the output of "fastboot getvar all" edit out the imei and serialno.

You only need to install htc sync because it will install HTC drivers at the same time. HTC sync can interfere with what you'll need to do that's why you have to uninstall it after. Just uninstall HTC sync and drivers will still be on your computer unless you uninstall them manually.

go in windows devices manager, is your phone listed as ''Android USB Device --> My HTC'' or something else?
Are you using USB 2.0 ports directly on the computer? (no external hub?)
cannot find "android use device" but i am connecting directly to the pc
