Is it just my nexus (AT&T version ) or does anybody else experience this... When using the phone and a new notification comes in, it appears at the top of the screen however it cannot be clicked to enter the notifications. Its more annoying when your using the phone and an incoming call comes and the incoming notification at the top says 'dismiss' or 'answer' yet I cannot click either of them! Have to swipe the notification away the enter the phone app to answer the darn call and by that time I've missed the call !!

No I'm on the AT&T variant and the Heads up Notification have always worked to open up the sending app. I constantly use it when texting my girlfriend and playing a game and when someone calls I've been able to both reject and accept the calls? Have you rooted or unlocked boot loader or anything? Or is it still stock?

How new is it? Was it preordered? When you tap the notification and hold, does a grayish mark on the box, extend from your finger to the edges?

Mine just started doing this a few days ago. I had completely wiped and flashed all the new 5.0.1 update. All was fine though until a few days ago and I haven't been able to click on the notifications to open them. When a call comes in, I can hit the power button and turn the screen off, then push it again to turn it back on, and I am able to answer. I have been trying to find a fix so I won't have to completely wipe again.

I too have the exact same problem. Normal one though not AT&T

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<SOLVED>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
I found this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-1052796.html) which indicates that a voicemail alert, prior to the media scanner completing, causes this issue.
=======================================================================
So this morning I rebooted my phone. After it loaded into the home screen (but, before it connected to the network or finished media scanning) it began beeping, loudly. I was only able to silence it by turning the phone to silent mode. This beeping continued for roughly two minutes then stopped.
At no point was there any alert or message to indicate that the system had booted up in a manner that was abnormal. After repeated tries, the device makes this noise upon boot, religiously.
What the hell is it, and how do I stop it?
Seriously? Anyone? This is obnoxious.

Well, my ROM info is in my signature and I am running the default Serendipity kernel (hardcore speedmod). There have been no recent alterations to system settings, setup, or applications. No new apps installed, or uninstalled, in the past week. And nothing is open on the device when the beeping occurs (as the phone is still starting up).
Let me take a stab...might work, might not
Do you use Google Voice?
I was having an issue last month where the phone would give the odd old G1 beeping sound as soon as it reached the homescreen after reboot. Found it was a rogue google voice email message that was trying like hell to give me a notifier, but was failing miserably. Check your web console for GV and see if you have a new message waiting to be read (or listened to), open t so it doesn't eed to notify. That stopped my crazy beeping.

I do not use Google Voice. It is, however, installed on the device. When I open it I am given a series of setup questions, so I don't imagine that it is telling me that I have a message waiting.
I originally thought that it was a message alert from some program. The problem with that is that it goes on for nearly one-hundred and twenty seconds and does not give me any visual indication of what it is attempting to alert me to.
My main concern is that it is some sort of hardware warning and that I am ignoring it out of ignorance.
Does the beeping stop when you pull down the notification bar as it would to silence an actual notification?

Can you identify which file on the phone is the actual beep sound? I'm just wondering if something is specifically calling the sound file, or if it is random. If you could identify the file and delete or rename it, it might help troubleshoot to see what your phone would do/attempt to do.

My beeping stops when i pull down the notification tray. I have been tethering for about a week without paying AT&T extra money with PDANet. Have they caught me?
This ringtone, for lack of a better word, is buried in the rom somewhere. It is called something like unresolved. Maybe reinstall kernel. this has happened to me before... I just can't remember how I fixed it.

Found another thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-1052796.html) which seems to have answered, but not solved, this problem.
Just recently got my HTC Vivid and I like the device. Quick question about the notification LED in the upper left corner. It seems to only flash for a few minutes indicating I have received an SMS or email, etc. Should it only flash for a few minutes? I would prefer it continue to flash until I check.
I don't know that it flashing for only 5 or 10 or 15 minutes (however long it is, I haven't timed it) will help me much as I check the phone every 5 minutes to see if it's blinking. For example, at work I often leave my phone on silent (as in not vibrate but completely silent) and rely on LED notification (or on my Captivate, BLN control pro) to tell me I have something waiting. But I may be away from my desk for 30 minutes or an hour. If the notification LED on this device only flashes for a few minutes upon receipt of something new (text, email, missed call, vm, etc.) then I could potentially miss events if I don't turn the screen on to look for notification bar icons.
It seems these apps on the market that are supposed to expand the functionality of the notification LED may not work for HTC devices such as this one.
All of that to ask...is this normal behavior or is there somewhere on the device I can control how long it will blink? If there is I have't found it so someone pointing me to it would be greatly appreciated!
It's normal, mine does it too actually. It's really annoying though, haven't tried any apps for it yet.

Hmm...well, I looked up a couple apps on the Market that I saw suggested elsewhere but it seems the comments/reviews were saying it didn't work on various HTC phones. It would be nice to be able to tell it to not blink as frequently (i.e. longer between blinks) but blink until cleared.
Also had a weird occurrence earlier where I got a text, light was blinking, I read and replied to the text but the light was still blinking. A restart cleared it. Hope this isn't a continual problem; I want the LED to work as I think it is very useful.
SMS pop up in market lets you adjust the blink rate.

That happens to me occasionally. All you need to do is pull down the notification tray and it will stop. At least, that's been working for me.

Can you confirm that this feature in SMS Pop up works on the Vivid? I ask because I tried Lightflow, I think it was, from the Market and all it did was make the LED stay on steady and not blink (or I couldn't get it to blink). Also, can you disable the pop ups using the SMS Pop up app? Sorry, just wondering if you or anyone know from experience...

SMS Popup has the option but I don't think it works for the Vivid. I vaguely remember trying it.

Tested it out and it does work on the vivid. You can change the color, speed and how long it flashes. Yes you can also disable the pop up.
EDIT: After playing with it some more the LED color change doesn't work on the vivid. It is always green.

Sometimes When i receive an incoming call, i cannot answer it. even if i slide the answer call button or the reject call button, nothing happens,
and finally the call goes to a missed on,
I tried to change settings to answer the call with the power button, but that too behaves the same way, when pressed, cannot answer.
Happened to me since the 4.0.3 update (before rooting).
Any advice?
If you recently updated.. do a clean wipe. if it still exists, Don't use fb sync. The same problem happened in my S3 after upgrade.

Hi,
No i updated the phone in July but it was not giving me so much issue, as i was using a different phone for all my calls.. but now i am on this phone and started to realize that it hang for atleast 1 call in a day..
I am not using any sync.. autosync disabled. no account other than google.
My S5 seems to be possessed. Its not rooted (cant anyway) no rom, have done absolutely nothing out of the ordinary to the phone other then install my normal apps from the play store.
Yet the phone is constantly, about 20x a day just going to the 'call logs' screen. I've rebooted the phone, logged in and with nothing open poof call logs. It seems to happen more when my fingers are hovering near but not touching the screen, is there some sort of air gesture for call logs that I dont know about ? Its never any other screen, its not like its accidentally hitting the 'back' button. It is starting to get a bit annoying ..
I notice mine opens apps "on its own". Not sure if its a gestures or hover thing or what. Usually gallery or phone, which are right next to each other on my home screen (all the way left). Must have something to do with it.

YES!!! My Rogers (SM-G900W8) does it too! I thought it was probably because I installed something, but, now that I see you have the issue !!
I posted this same question in the Q&A section regarding the call logs. Ultimately , I factory reset my phone. That fixed whatever the problem was. It was annoying the crap out of me.

I found the problem, it was my galaxy gear 2, every time it 'checked' my phone for new messages it would leave the phone on the call log. I turned off the option to open content on my phone from my gear and all is well now !
I have been experiencing this issue since upgrading to Lollipop on my S5. I too have a Galaxy Gear 2. I have just disabled 'Smart Relay' in the Gear App (which is what I presume you were referring to) and so far all seems good Thanks.
I've got this http://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony/mod-dialer-mods-1-0-t3115001 flashed in my z3 compact, but i only get full contact image if screen is off. If screen is on i only get a heads-up notification. is there a way i can get always a full screen with contact image??
Isn't that the whole point of it? As in, let's say you are playing an online game and the call comes up. It won't ruin it for you. You can just swipe it away or decline. Whereas if it took the full screen while using the phone, then your work would probably be interrupted. Now you have the choice of attending the call/or ignoring it/declining it. So how is that bad? Just my opinion though. I hope someone here can help you

The great thing about android is the possibility of customization. I get the point of the new heads up on incoming call, i just don't like it.
