Hi, I recently flashed my phone to cyanogens 3.6.8.1 all was well until yesterday when the phone screen displayed vertical lines like a grey color, the phone could receive calls but from t mobile customer service and it was booting up tho I couldn't see the screen. Then I took the sim card out and the screen returned to normal but was stuck in the splash screen. I reflashed and sometime the next day it happened again, this time I took out the sim card and it went back to normal
Any ideas

Could you post a log of this? Could you also provide some more details about your set-up (a2sd? swap? comcache? spl/recovery?) and how did you get to this point (did you wipe before flash? did you run any back-up apps, what were you doing when it happened?)
Once we have that info we should be able to figure it out.
I started out with th jesus freak rom then I decieded to flash the cyanogens 3.6.8.1, I had trouble with the market because I hadn't wiped first, I did that and all was well for at least 5 days. I created an ext2 partition for apps2sd but I'm not sure if that worked. Then on the Saturday 6 days later I put fotmob on my phone so I could keep an eye on the opening premiership season put the phone in my pocket whilst at the football and 2 hours later the phone screen was dead, nobody could call me tho I know the phone was operating and booting only t mobile manage to get through, I tried a reboot, then took the sim card out and the screen went back to normal but was stuck on the splash screen. I tried fixing file ext but came as error asomething about the super block being unreadable tried manually but didn't work, tried backup still stuck, reflashed worked fine for. 20 hours then it happened again this time I wasn't doing anything with the phone no programs other than the usual running in the background, this time I removed the sim card and the phone went back to normal again for about 4 hours then it happened again this time removing the sim didn't work.straight away but eventually it came good again.
Its now 11 15 and its running fine again. I have noticed that I now only have one ringtone (dream theme) and one notification tone and I'm getting a few force closes tho I not sure what they are I will report them if and when I see them
you need to get audio resources and unzip to the sd card all the ringers. search xda for audio resources
The screen went dead again at 3pm this time after removing the sim card it stayed the same it was only after leaving the battery off it returned to normal again about 10 minutes later, I am also getting a vending core force close from time to time, please someone help me solve this issue.
P.s I've never actually seen the phone do this it happens when it is in my pocket when I get it out it happens also this time I have not installed any software and it is still happening

Because you lost your ringtones, it sounds like your SD card is acting funny, I would format it using this guide (make only 2 partitions for the time being, fat32 and ext3).
See if that works...May be complete reflash with wipe wouldn't be a bad idea neither.
That's all I can suggest at this point, I'll need to see a log to be anymore specific, but try this out, sounds like you've got nothing to loose
Good luck.
Thanks for your reply I am very greatful, I have tried a different sd card without setting up partitions and it still happens. I think the latter is true and a complete reflash is definately the thing to do.
I think this may be a hardware issue because as I mentioned it only happens when it has been in my pocket for a while, perhaps it is overheating or something.
I'll try a complete reflash and let you know if it happens again.
Wipe, re-flash, reformat your sd (or take it out altogether, just to rule it out see what happens... This is all I can tell you....
good luck
Hiya. I have a Kyocera Zio with Cricket. Last week at some point, I got a text message saying that an update was available. So I went through the settings and checked for an update and it asked me if I wanted to begin download (I was on WiFi). I did so, less than a minute later, it asked me if I wanted to reboot. I did so, remembering that there are supposed to be three parts to the update. It told me there was an update, I accepted, it asked again to reboot, so I did. The third time, it told me there was an update, I accepted and waited.
It was taking a while, so I left it plugged in to do as it would. I came back later to find it continuously rebooting. It would show the Kyocera screen, the Cricket screen, and finally the Android screen, but then it would reboot. I left it again just in case. Close to an hour later, it was doing the same, so I took out the battery, put it back in and tried again. The same series of continuous rebooting happened. I tried on and off for a few days and only once got something different - at some point, having done nothing differently, it got to the 1.6 lock screen, but was frozen there.
Yesterday, I took it to a corporate store and asked them to reset it. They did so. It got to the screen where it tells you to touch the android (sounds dirty, really) and the animated hand - which was animated - but it didn't react to my touch. I also couldn't turn it off. Figuring I'd be waiting another hour if I put my name in the machine to get in line again, I took the battery out and left, hoping I could figure it out when I got home.
Now, the "end call" button does indeed work, because it will turn the phone on. The "volume up", "start call", trackball, and "end call" work because the reset combination works (though it gets stuck with text on the Kyocera screen). However, when the phone is turned on normally, it gets to the "touch the android" screen with the animated hand, but doesn't accept any input, whether button or touch screen.
Is this phone bricked?
Take it back to the cricket store that reset it. Its now their liability. If your phone is borked, they may be liable to give you a new one.

I would have to concur. Anything we can help you do would put the liability back into your hands. We can offer advice on how to fix your problem but it should be used as a "last resort" if the store simply cannot help you.
Feel free to come back, should you need to.
My orginal zio did the same thing on march 4th.
Did everything to a t and all it kept doing was a constant rebooting loop my 1.6 desktop came up but my screen would not respond to my touches just kept rebooting after 2 or 3 minutes.
Took it to the corp store and the women who works there told me on march 6th that the update is not sopossed to be released to the public yet and that i shouldnt have installed it and accused me of using a pirated version of the 2.2 and that is why my phone is bricked.
I told her no i didn't that i had a check mark on the task bar (i call it a task bar cause it looks like windows a bit) and when i pulled it down it said a kyocera update is avalible and i had to use my wifi to get it.
She was like well we don't have the stuff here to reflash it yet and she was still insisting that i was using a pirated version so she went in the back and asked someone else and then came back out and had a new boxed zio in her hand she was like the update was released and i did not know that i asked her how long you worked here and she was like over 2 yrs (she must not pay attention at the meetings) so she gave me a new phone but charged me 20 dollars to replace the phone cause she was like it was over 30 days or 30 minutes i was madder then a bull with his balls tied up she didn't even give me an apology.
Went to mcdonalds down the road cause they got free wifi and did the update again and it went thru 100% this time.
Now i can't root my phone to get my boot screen back on androot and root explorer don't want to play nice together.
This is the LG REV. Great phone. I have it rooted, and several things frozen via Titanium. So, its been a few days, haven't downloaded anything, all my songs are good from before I rooted, no issues. This morning, my phone was off. My wife didn't touch it, I didn't either, I got up and the alarm was supposed to go off at 430, but I was up at 5 to check it. So there is that. Then I was driving, and Tune in Radio lost its connection, so I made a call to the wife to say hi. Ended the call, and went to turn on the radio, and it stalled so bad, I had to reboot. Well when I booted, I lost data connectivity. I booted, battery pulled, and lost it for about an hour. Finally I booted, called the wife to see if it would bring data back. It didn't. I rebooted again, and then hit Google Maps, it took a second, but the satellite popped up, and boom there was the data stream. What do you all think?

As for the alarm:
If you have a task killer/manager/stopper whatever it is....make sure you have the ALARM ignored/excluded/blocked/etc.
Also...make sure you didn't freeze your alarm or the alarm widget with TiBU
I'm having major issues with my revo today. I went to bed last night with the phone on the charger after using it with no problems. This morning The alarm did not go off and I woke late. When I checked the phone, it was a blank black screen. No response to anything I did. I did battery pulls and it would seem to boot up, I'd get to the Verizon LTE screen and it would go black and just vibrate occasionally.
I did a factory reset and now it boots to the Lock screen but when I unlock it everything is blank. No responses to the buttons.
I received a phone call and was able to answer it, and now I can make calls but only from my contact list not from using the dial pad.
I'm off to the Verizon store fora probable replacement.
I have had some similar issues. I held out on taking it in to try cubed's rom but I'm still having issues. I have had a couple mornings that my phone was off, as well as a few other times it randomly turned off. A couple times it was while on a walk using SportsTracker. Three times when receiving a call the phone froze up and vibrated constantly for several seconds until it rebooted. Finally, I've also had a few times that data randomly stopped working. Guess I'm going in for a replacement today.
Yah, I think I am going to unroot and hang on that for a few days, and see what happens. I have had data hang ups the last few days, programing stalls. I have had to do battery pulls and all that fun stuff.
Hello all,
Firstly, I hope this is the right place to put this thread. I did a search and did not find anyone else having this issue so I decided to put my post here. I am having a problem with my note 4 randomly restarting a few times every hour. It goes through its shutdown procedure and turns right back on. Occasionally it will shutdown and stay off. It seems to be software related, but I'm no expert on these things. I did however download 'Device Temperature' from the play store to check to see if it might be overheating. As far as I can tell it has stayed a cool 24-25 degrees Celsius (77 Fahrenheit) the entire time.
It does this at unpredictable times, whether or not the phone is in my pocket, in my hands, or laying flat on a desk with or without the charger plugged in.
I don't think I can take it back to Tmobile to have it replaced as I bought it from a friend a few weeks ago to use on cricket. This just started 2 days ago.
The device is SIM unlocked, but not rooted with stock everything. It's still in mint condition and to my knowledge has never been dropped.
Can anyone help?
More Information
I did a Google search for "Galaxy Note 4 Random Reboot" and I found some information saying to reformat my SD card or try doing a factory reset on the phone.
I tried both (I actually removed the SD card completely instead of just reformating it), and about a half hour later... boom restart again. FML.
Once again I turn to the wonderful folks at XDA for help. Thanks to all in advance.
Sounds like it could be bad eMMC flash memory. Go with your friend and have Tmobile replace it. Also get Square Trade insurance if you can.
Got it fixed
I called Samsung about the issue and after some brief troubleshooting they recommended having it reflashed at a samsung experience center. The closest one to me was in a Best Buy. I dropped it off, after explaining what was happening, and an hour later it was ready to be picked working good as new. I haven't noticed it restart even once since.
Samsung offered to replace the entire unit but it would cost me $28 for 2 day shipping (assuming that they had my model in stock). I will go that route if the issue returns. I'm hoping not to go this route because I already paid for this phone to be unlocked once - I'd rather not pay again if I don't have to.
I'll keep you guys updated if the rebooting issue returns again.
Also check to make sure the battery is properly seated and contacts are not bent/damaged.

This. I kept having this issue with my Note 3 and could not figure it out. Eventually I just took out the battery, cleaned the contacts, put it back in, and it never had a random reboot after that.
Are you guys running any custom roms, or is it still stock?
Hi all
I am not technical and am not really sure what to even call this issue, but have done numerous searches on this and other forums over a few weeks and am not able to find anything like it. I'm sure there must be, but because there is nothing onscreen to help identify the issue I don't know what to search for next.
I few weeks ago I got a message to upgrade the O/S. I didn't do it at work, as my reception there is pretty lousy. When I did do it I had good reception. When it had finished, it then wanted to install. I left it until the next day, when I was home again with a strong signal. It commenced installation but when it got to 91% it rebooted and started over again. This has been happening ever since and the only way to stop it is to remove the battery. I've tried leaving the battery out for several hours, draining it, and all the different kinds of reboots but nothing helps. I was able to get it into download mode, but then it got stuck in there. I was able to get it back to the other screen and don't know what to do now.
The only thing on the screen is a standing android guy with a blue polyhedron rotating in his belly, and an upload percentage. It always restarts at 91%.
I don't want to mess anything up, because this is a borrowed phone - after my previous two Nexus 4s chucked it in. I ended up having to send the first N4 back to Google and lost everything on the phone, but the other one has a lot of data I really want to keep, so I won't do that again.
Is anyone able to help me with this issue?
